Hello, AHIT fans, I happen to be one of the people who's spamming the tag on AO3, so it's time I appear here to post some art and au stuff here as well.

I've been making a swap au!! Because I can. And I thought too much about how Conductor and Empress are alike, sooo... My friend @legallymean and I have been making some stuff for it in the background! Can't wait to show you guys everything we've come up with.

To start off with... Here's Bandit, aka Swap!Conductor!

From before most people's memories, this outlaw's been swiping things and fighting people without any remorse. He's known for keeping most everything to himself in a little desert house near a speakeasy he runs, but he does seem to have some sort of plan with the things he's stolen. He trusts few, and respects even fewer. Though he has a gun on his hip, he prefers his knives, and most frequently brings them out against CAW, who has been trying to catch him for many years. (Of course, that's not working too well-- It's been decades, and Dead Bird Junction is still running under the thumb of the Bandit, even now...)

Grooves seems to resent him, refusing to discuss the topic of the Bandit; while Stationmaster is friendly with him, even including him in a few of his movies as a stunt owl and villain, though no one knows what she had to pay him for that... That, and what he's really up to with all those stolen things.

Finally: I will just be posting this au in art for a bit. There are some fics, but I'd like to leave posting them until after I have everyone drawn, and since I've only drawn two characters so far, and still want to fix how the other looks a little... Patience, please?

They would definitely do well with a Robin Hood type of theme! They also had all the typical themes in the rest of the album and MV so I'm not sure why they didn't carry it into the lyrics :/

Yeosang is an absolute legend yesss - he only got a few iconic lines in early albums like Hala Hala (the harmonic part before the choreo is soo satisfying) and Say My Name, but he also opens Illusion and gets some nice harmonies with Seonghwa in Mist (where the chorus was sung by Wooyoung ooooh - a rarity).

Later on, he got more lines in songs like Horizon (underrated) and some of the most iconic lines in The Leaders (also underrated). Dreamers also has quite a lot of him (a Japanese comeback). Deja Vu was, I think, the first big comeback where they began utilizing his deeper register as a way to break up the flow of a song and transition into another part. Turbulence, Be With You, and the Letter have his more melodious register - all from the same album.

In The World series he started getting more and more lines with each release. He opens the entire series with his lines in Sector 1 and gets some of the cuntiest moments in Cyberpunk and some powerful lines in The Ring (a personal favorite). In the Japenese comeback, Paradigm, he also gets some of the most iconic lines.

Queen Halazia was definitely a HUGE step forward for him as a vocalist, followed by Limitless, and fucking DUNE - that song slaps so hard and they really, really made use of his deep register to make the song sound cult-y as hell. He also got a good chunk of the lines in Outlaw (slay).

The Will album also really highlights him in songs like Silver Light (he got to use a wide variety of tones and vocal colors) and of course IT's You (a unit song with San and Wooyoung). Most recently, he also a lot of lines in Not Okay (another Japanese comeback).

And yes, Hongjoong's styling was A-tier. On par with Wooyoung's knee-length skirt in Birthday haha

But yes, I do feel you about the recent comebacks! As an artsy person myself though, I also interact and follow a lot of small time musicians and artists in general and that has changed how I view art in a lot of ways. I struggle to be critical of when an artist makes a change they seem happy with because, ultimately, they should be doing what brings them the most joy and if that doesn't align with my tastes, that's okay to me, especially in K-Pop where they have so many comebacks and their entire lives revolve around their careers to the point where they have next to no free time.

Just recently, I really didn't like the NCT Dream comeback that much but three songs on that album slap so damn hard to me that I know they'll have another title track in the future that I'll love, so I keep an eye on them and I keep supporting them as much as a broke-ass person like me can haha

Unfortunately though, there are also artists like Itzy and Stray Kids who changed their styles so hard and kept putting out stuff I don't enjoy until I stopped listening to them entirely. But even then, I can't bring myself to criticize anything online because I feel like the fans who still love their stuff might see it and it might make them feel bad and I don't really want to spread negativity when the world is already in shambles and people are searching for an escape online.

But either way, I'm getting waaay off topic again so: YES Xikers, their last comeback was amazing to me. I hope you'll enjoy it too! :D

I like don't really go here, but this is what pisses me off about Ateez. They are SO talented. Like so uniquely talented even. And yet they waste it on this generic hip-pop production and (frankly) goofy choreography.

You got like five of them on the team with these Evanescence-ass voices. Jongho - unparalled. I hear at least one of them can scream like a motherfucker. And Mingi is not like, my favorite rapper, but I could listen to Hongjoong's flow all day and anyway both of them are at their best at their most theatrical.

WHERE is our metal record? Where is the rock album? Why are they acting like they don't know about Aerosmith/Run DMC? Or Outkast?

This is what we get? Ice On My Teeth? And don't get me wrong, the song is good. But. Anyone could do this. It could be an NCT song. You expect me to believe that after Guerilla and Halazia and whatever, that this is what y'all care about as artists? Grills? That's what your band is about? I simply don't believe you. Be so fucking forreal.

I don't talk about previous Fandom I was a part of, but there's been a few. In the past, I've watched several of the books/TV shows go through the cycle of fan fiction and I'm beginning to see the dawn of my favorite types of fan fiction.

Sure, there will always be canon compliant, canonical, and Canon redux fics, a long with tamer fluff pieces and the standard smut...

But my dear friends, we have entered the precipice of the 'Canceled Show Crossovers and Creatuves' fic part of the cycle.

In every Fandom I have been in, this period includes multiple crossovers, darker fics that burn the Canon with glee, dark fics in general, and my favorite: The Gamut.

The Gamut is everything and anything that hasn't been written in this Fandom. It's tentacles, and space travel, and time jumps, and warp speed, and creatures, and kinks galore, and thread unraveling from canonical tapestry (IE: What if Liam wasn't born?) and crack fics and pushing your limits as a writer on what makes you/ya friends/readers/fans uncomfortable or turns out you find more niche crowds that say,

"Write that weird bby, let ya freak flag fly."

I'm ready. After this period settles, generally, so does the Fandom. So. Enjoy this. Celebrate creators and creation even if it's esoteric and out of your wheelhouse. Push yourself to write whatever WIP you have going. Give others praise for writing, and ask if they need to bounce ideas because only 'XYZ' is what you can't handle.

This may be the end of the audience for your works, and even then, it's shrinking every day.

Hello, new fan here, and while I ADORE all of Seafine's outfits, I can't help but wonder how common was it for women of the 1920's to be wearing pants and jackets like that? Anyway, I hope you're doing well and the animated short is coming along well as well. Your art is seriously breathtaking <3

Hey, that's very kind. Thank you! About Serafine's wardrobe... It wasn't conventional - most women wore dresses or skirts most of the time, as they were expected to - but it wasn't especially uncommon in the 1920s either. "Comme des Garçons" was part of the fashion philosophy of the era of bobbed hair and straight-line, curve-minimizing fabric cuts, after all. It's perhaps not all that surprising that pants and slacks were starting to edge their way into the women's fashion milieu as well.

By the early 20s, knickers and knee-high socks were pretty well accepted as sportswear for women. Later in the decade, loose, wide-legged 'pajama pants' were popular too. Initially they functioned as beach or lounge-wear, but it's probably a fair bet they influenced the rise of women's pant suits in the 30s and 40s.

...And then there was the gender non-conformity.

In the entertainment arena, it was quite trendy, traversing popular vaudeville acts into stage and cinema. Pick any well known actress or performer of the time and chances are you can find a photo shoot of them in a tweed suit, a tux, or Oxford bags and suspenders. Pictured here are Ethel Waters, Josphine Baker, Nella Regini, and Marlene Dietrich, who was the reigning queen/king of the masculine look in Hollywood. She wore it consistently across her career, and by all accounts it ran deeper than just publicity and performance.

There are tales of Dietrich being arrested in Paris for wearing men's clothes in the early 1930s, but that never actually happened. There was an ordinance at the time prohibiting women from dressing like men, and though she may have been (teasingly) threatened with it, it seems no one wanted to come out looking like Boo-boo the Fool trying to prosecute this level of celebrity.

That said, not everyone had blanket social freedom to skirt the law (heh) or to dress out of step with expectations. People from most walks of life risked a lot more than the A-list rich and famous. And what might have been celebrated on stage and in clubs amidst the "Pansy Craze" of that time was not generally regarded with esteem extending outside of those venues. Gladys Bently (pictured in the white tux below) was a very popular singer and pianist in 1920s Harlem speakeasies. She dressed in men's clothes and openly courted women before, during and after the peak of her career, but some decades later presented as more traditionally feminine, declaring herself 'cured'. It's probably worth noting, though, that leading up to this, Bentley was routinely harassed, closed out of performance spots she'd been a star at during Prohibition, and unlike Dietrich, did actually face fines and legal challenges to dressing in men's clothes. And then there was the McCarthy era.

As for Serafine, well, the fact that she's fictional certainly plays some part, but to give it some contextual logic - she's already rather far removed from common practice, what with her unashamed outlaw lifestyle. She's less concerned with conforming to normative social rules than the speakeasy scene she inhabits, and since her reputation precedes her, she doesn't seem to encounter a lot of people willing to risk hassling her about it. So, I suppose as long as she maintains enough underworld clout to afford a good tailor, she'll dress how she likes.
