so i love ragnarok on netflix itâs *such* a good show and i think itâs well thought out. however no one seems to acknowledge just how awful the jutul women are treated. theyâre clearly victims of patriarchy and cyclical trauma. vidar forces rĂĄn to be the perfect wife which she has internalized and then he devalues saxa because sheâs a woman. so, saxa tries to appeal to vidar which displeases rĂĄn. he pits his family against each other and itâs disgusting. also the moment where rĂĄn is in the bath and he makes a passing remark about how ridiculous it is to ask consent to fuck his wife⊠yeah. i donât want to imagine what rĂĄn has been through with him. like she feels she has to draw a knife against him in season one so heâll listen to her. in the same scene he hits her hard and she indicates in dialogue itâs a pattern. (âafter 3000 years you still think hitting someone makes you a manâ) i just, i have a lot of feelings about the jutul women and the jutul men can go rot in hell

but the scene where saxa kisses mira was not scripted, so mira and really klawâs reaction is genuine and itâs forever one of my favorite things
Klaw: Because there are so few women in the rebel camp, whenever [Hollman] and I would rehearse our fights, we would instantly somehow have a huge audience of men. During the one fight scene, she basically said, "I'm going to plant one on you at the end." So we do this huge massive fight scene, a good couple of beats, there are four people involved, and at the end, she and I win. And she leans over and plants this huge kiss on me, but I kind of forgot that she was going to do it. So it was just this big, wet, sloppy kiss in front of everybody, and it was just hysterical because they actually use the tape where you see my face reacting [in surprise]. That, actually, was my favorite day ever in my entire career on the set... She made out with me. It was good. [ x ]

HI! So i found out about season 3 teaser through you today and promptly lost my shit and started rambling about the show to my partner, who while they haven't watched it, are Norwegian and know lots of mythology, and have also listened to me talk about it a lot through the years, came up with a theory for Fjor!
Because Fjor has no equivalent in mythology, atleast none that are obvious, like Saxa being JĂĄrnsaxa, lover of Thor, we were trying to think of one but couldn't find any that would stick. The closest name wise would Fjorgynn, but mythologically wise it doesn't fit.
My partner and I had gotten off topic talking about general mythology, and they had mentioned how, depending on the myth, Freya and Frey(r) aren't Vanir. They're Jotuns. Now we already know who Freya is in the show. but we don't have a Frey. My partner mentioned how Frey was known to be one of the greatest warriors among the gods, but vowed to a life of pacifism for his wife, GerĂ°r, a jotun fertility goddess associated with the Earth. In their mythos, it takes a bit of convincing for them to get together. She originally had no interest in him.
My partner brought up the theory that GerĂ°r is... somewhat similar to Gry. And their story tracks too. The slow burn get together, Fjor gives up the family stuff to join Gry in protests of environmentalism (a bit of his Frey self shining through) but, when she leaves, and one of his own dies, he falls back.
Im reminded of the moment when Fjor asks Gry to teach him to be a good person. He needs reminding of the peaceful god he used to be.
And granted, Frey is the first to die in Ragnarok, as he refused to fight. Logically he wouldn't be alive by the show's time. But... Ragnarok is a cycle, that is different every time it happens. Different gods live and die and come back every time.
Who knows? This could have been a version where Frey lost his beloved GerĂ°r to the fighting of Ragnarok and picked up his sword again, and was driven to join the jotuns.
ooooooo! That is a very interesting theory and I love it!
It does track!

Right, so Ragnarok on netflix, on the ending and how I chose to see it:
Funky little show, very entertaining
That said, the whole 'it was all in his head' schtick really doesn"t work here and is completely unnecessary imo.
Director's comments aside you cannot pull a stunt like that with
a) changing povs
and
b) without solving specific scenarios.
The main problem here might have been that it's a show, not a movie.
Way too much happened to just present one single pov and to explain everything.
If you compare it to Fight Club f.e. there's only one pov and every scene works perfectly without Tyler Durden.
In Ragnarok we have the whole Jutul family dynamic for one.
Why would Magne imagine that in such a way? Also why present those interactions to the audience if they're not actually relevant to anything.
(Apart from the overall message the show is trying to send, where Saxa's arc is a part of that as message as a sociological comment f.e.)
Then there's Laurits whole messed up story, that could not have been fabricated by Magne the way it was displayed.
Otoh the only pro for a 'just in his head' solution is Laurits actually, because I do hope in the reality we didn't see there was just some normal conflict regarding his father's affair and not that frankly hard to watch back and forth where he's constantly abused by one family or the other, verbally and physically.
I mean him graduating as 'Laurits Seier Jutul' indicates Ran is actually accepting in reality.
(Oh and I gotta add it would also be comforting to know Saxa wasn't kept as a slave as punishment, if we're talking about messed up family dynamics that probably didn't exist)
Anyways, regarding the general coming of age theme the delusion cop out would not have been needed.
The whole point/message (as I understood it) is that by growing up you learn to make informed adult choices, which is exactly what Magne did. (and the Jutuls).
He chose to not fullfill a prophecy but change paths for the better.
And the scenes during graduation showed what would have happened if he had made the other choice.
That works just as well without the whole 'the imagined characters must die so they're out of his head' theme (which is overused anyways).
Everybody already chose the peaceful, normal way, the conflict was already solved.
So I'm just gonna go with that and pretend I do not know how the ending was intended to be read.
I chose to interpret this specific piece of art the way I want.
#ragnarok#ragnarok spoilers#ragnarok netflix#fight club spoilers though I do hope everyone has seen that already#also tapeworm Jormungandr is frolicking somewhere in the North sea#that's not up for discussion#but kudos for letting Loki be 'pregnant' in the most messed up way possible

#yeah legit though #what's he supposed to do when everyone mostly just uses him to get to other people #and then when he inevitably keeps going back and forth and betraying people #because how could he not??? #people call him a traitor and kick him out of everything #and he ends up alone on a couch while everyone else is falling in love #one day he will go on a murderous rampage and everyone will only have themselves to blame ( @throwing-roses-into-the-abyss )
looking forward to season 3 đ„°
People wonder why Laurits isn't loyal to anyone when his entire life experience has been:
1. Dad dies when he's ~4. Only memory of him is a photograph where his older brother is lovingly held by his dad, while he is off to the side. Idealizes his dad in his head his whole life. Feels inadequate compared to him. Finds out his dad wasn't his real dad.
2. Tries to bond with real dad. Realizes real dad is using him to get to his older brother. Older brother uses him to get to his real dad. Genuinely cares about them both. Real dad gives him attention and material things, but ultimately plans to kill him. Older brother kills real dad to save him, but he doesn't realize this fully until his step mom tells him what they were planning to do to him.
3. Mother focuses the majority of her attention on older brother, who she babies in an ableist way. Laurits grows up mostly taking care of himself. She doesn't pick up on his substance abuse. She doesn't pick up on his depression or binge eating either, even though she experiences the same things. She just says there's something wrong with him and he needs to take himself to the doctor. When he's hospitalized, she tells his older brother to first get out of the room and then makes them leave without even letting him see Laurits. So, again, he's left alone.
4. Step mother absolutely hates him. Tries to kill him multiple times. Calls him a bastard and a thing, not a person. Confesses that his real dad had been planning to kill him when he was at his most vulnerable.
5. Older brother wants him to be a part of his plan to fight corruption in the town, but Laurits has to choose between the attention he's finally getting from a parental figure and helping his older brother. He helps him anyways, but he's not trusted and his older brother tries to dictate to him what he can and can't do. His older brother also lies to him which directly results in Laurits nearly being beaten to death.
6. Wotan/Odin outright rejects him when he offers to help, calling him a traitor. Nevermind that literally how everyone treats him makes it impossible for him to be loyal to anyone. It's not in his nature. It is a result of his environment.
7. Step siblings are similarly using him to get to his older brother. He initially tries to be friends with them, but they don't have any interest in his well being.
8. He's queer, and he's unable to find anyone who actually cares about him romantically either. He is first interested in Fjor, but he's not gay. He's interested in Jens, but he's too old for him. Still, Jens gives him some attention just to be nice and friendly and then Laurits is crushed when Jens falls for someone else. There's pretty much no one else in town who hangs out with him just to hang out with him other than Oscar.
Not to be dramatic, but I wouldn't be loyal to anyone under these conditions because no one has really proven that they have any interest in his life or in his continued existence. So... It really doesn't matter to him what is right and what is wrong because on every side of this he loses. Self preservation is his go to because he perceives that it's his only option.
#magne and saxa:#laurits: i have been trying to get a date for two seasons now and you guys just ????????? on the FLOOR???????#anyway#season 3 is going to be terrible for magne and laurits if they continue the general myth direction#it'll be so fun :)#netflix ragnarok

I'm obsessed with the ekphrasis in this passage primarily because Minerva has a simple olive-leaf border surrounding one (1) scene showing a contest between herself and Neptune, with the Olympians, seeming noble and awesome, overlooking them, and victory crowing her the winner; then four "scenelets" (I find it difficult to discern if she is just depicting the mountains, the two birds, and Cinyras on the temple steps, or the actual action of their transformation/the preceding/following events), depicting the gods as beings not to be trifled with. The passage also includes her reasoning behind including the extra scenes. She is certainly not subtle in making her point...I also love that the topic she chose for her weaving was....her winning another contest, surrounded by the gods defeating lesser beings in...contests. Minerva certainly is the goddess of strategy, not subtly. (and maybe also the goddess of insecurity...who needs to hype themselves up so much to win a contest against a lesser being that they first surprise their quarry, then choose to show themselves as a winner in a past contest...that's like playing a football match with your old season tournament trophy on the sideline...like, why do you need that?)
But Arachne has 22 (!) separate scenes and an elaborate vegetative border. While Minerva depicts the gods with "their own features" (this seems almost rote, like she's working from an existing stylistic template), Arachne's weaving is so accurate that her figures are described as "real"/"true". Her sheer volume of figures simply overtowers Minerva's one piddly scene, as does their message of "the gods are capricious and cruel, even to their own kind". The gods are not stately and awesome in Arachne's tapestry: they are monstrous, terrible beings who contort their forms to take advantage of those who they can, even those who undoubtedly hold as much divine power as they do, as the case is for Neptune's rape of Ceres in lines 118-119. And Ovid doesn't even include her reasoning for creating these scenes, so I have to assume the reasoning is "if these gods are flawed, than Minerva can be, too." I admire her audacity in the face of likely loss and death. I think she knew she was going out, so she chose to go out swinging, and I think that's pretty badass.
I love how Ovid depicts the gods as fallacious and capricious in the Metamorphoses. What does that mean? It is a barometer of public opinion about the gods? Is it just his own opinion or stylization of existing literary traditions and tropes? Is it meant to be a slight to the Imperial family and the Roman state in general (i.e. those in charge are cruel, petty, and unjust)? I'm obsessed. I'm completely obsessed.

Ovid, Metamorphoses VI.70-128
Pallas pictures the hill of Mars on the citadel of Cecrops and that old dispute over the naming of the land. (There sit twelve heavenly gods on lofty thrones in awful majesty, Jove in their midst; each god she pictures with his own familiar features; Jove's is a royal figure.) (There stands the god of ocean, and with his long trident smites the rugged cliff, and from the cleft rock sea-water leaps forth; a token to claim the city for his own.) (To herself the goddess gives a shield and a sharp-pointed spear, and a helmet for her head; the aegis guards her breast; and from the earth smitten by her spear's point upsprings a pale-green olive-tree hanging thick with fruit); (and the gods look on in wonder). (Victory crowns her work.) Then, that her rival may know by pictured warnings what reward she may expect for her mad darings she weaves in the four corners of the web four scenes of contest, each clear with its own colours and in miniature design. (One corner shows Thracian Rhodepe and Haemus, now huge, bleak mountains, but once audacious mortals who dared assume the names of the most high gods.) (A second corner shows the wretched fate of the Pygmaean queen, whom Juno conquered in a strife, then changed into a crane, and bade her war upon those whom once she ruled.) (Again she pictures how Antigone once dared to set herself against the consort of mighty Jove, and how Queen Juno changed her into a bird; Ilium availed her nothing, nor Laomedon, her father; nay, she is clothed in white feathers, and claps her rattling bill, a stork.) (The remaining corner shows Cinyras bereft of his daughters; there, embracing the marble temple-steps, once their limbs, he lies on the stone, and seems to weep.) (The goddess then wove around her work a border of peaceful olive-wreath.) This was the end; and so, with her own tree, her task was done. (transl. Miller 1915)
(Arachne pictures Europa cheated by the disguise of the bull: a real bull and real waves you would think them. The maid seems to be looking back upon the land she has left, calling on her companions, and, fearful of the touch of the leaping waves, to be drawing back her timid feet.) (She wrought Asterie, held by the struggling eagle); (she wrought Leda, beneath the swanâs wings.) (She added how, in a satyr's image hidden, Jove filled lovely Antiope with twin offspring); (how he was Amphitryon when he cheated thee, Alcmena); (how in a golden shower he tricked Danae); (Aegina, as a flame); (Mnemosyne, as a shepherd); (Deo's daughter, as a spotted snake). (Thee also, Neptune, she pictured, changed to a grim bull with the Aeolian maiden); (now as Enipeus thou dost beget the Aloidae), (as a ram deceivedst Bisaltis). (The golden-haired mother of corn, most gentle, knew thee as a horse); (the snake-haired mother of the winged horse knew thee as a winged bird); (Melantho knew thee as a dolphin). (To all these Arachne gave their own shapes and appropriate surroundings.) (Here is Phoebus like a countryman); (and she shows how he wore now a hawk's feathers), (now a lion's skin); (how as a shepherd he tricked Macareus' daughter, Isse); (how Bacchus deceived Erigone with the false bunch of grapes); (how Saturn in a horse's shape begot the centaur, Chiron). (The edge of the web with its narrow border is filled with flowers and clinging ivy intertwined.) (transl. Miller 1915)

for the letter + oc meme: A or S, wasnât sure which letters hadnât been asked already! đ
thank you jasper! đ i haven't done either letter yet but there's kind of... a lot đ so i'll go with s!
satine: the witcher, mostly the books and third game. she's a higher vampire and was part of geralt's company when he was looking for ciri. she survived but cut most ties, doing work as an assassin for a while until she discovered that regis was alive in toussaint.
sandrine quintrell: one of my bg3 clowns đ«¶đŒ she's a zariel tiefling from a noble family. she ended up a tiefling bc of a pact made by her family a couple generations before, but they still disowned her đ however, she did have a mentor that taught her to fight which set her on the paladin of vengeance path.
saxa hawke: da2. a mage with the biggest heart ever. i like to describe her as tender and rageful, that pretty much encapsulates her as a person. she may be kind but she's also very passionate and will defend her friends to the death. in her free time (if she ever has any lol) she likes to design and sew clothes.
sylvia crane: my vtmb clown â€ïž pre-embrace she worked at a blockbuster and lived in a motel that her parents owned and ran. she was pretty aimless and went to bars a lot for entertainment. eventually turned by a guy she had a situationship with, but then he died right after, oops. she's a malkavian!
sonia kapoor: another star trek oc, specifically strange new worlds! she's my nerdy little rock collector/astrogeologist on the enterprise. eventually starts dating jim <3
#ask#sorry i'm getting to the last couple a bit late!#i literally almost did both letters but it really would've been a lot đ#oc: satine#oc: sandrine#oc: saxa#oc: sylvia#oc: sonia

Same anon: So I'm obsessed with how they're portraying the gods in this series. it's SO GOOD and feels so authentic and like it's not just a gimmick. I believe the plot so whole heartedly of "there's an ancient evil in this town and the gods are being called upon once more to save humanity". And like I'm stuck between believing that Magne and Laurits were destined to be the reincarnation of Thor & Loki, or if they just happened to fit the bill enough and they were chosen like it seems that Harry/Tyr was chosen (because Iman picked him, not because he was destined for it). What do you think? Were Magne and Laurits born to fulfill these roles or are they simply conduits for the gods?
I am going to be honest, I was never much into the Marvel stuff when it came to Thor and Loki and such. The movies were good and fine but I haven't watched them again. Meanwhile, I have watched some of the episodes of "Ragnarok" multiple times and rewatched many scenes more times than I want to admit to. I think you hit the nail on the head when you say it feels like an 'authentic and non-gimmicky' representation of the original myth/folklore/religion.
In the global climate crisis we find ourselves in, it feels so real and valid to have the premise of this show being what you mentioned. The world has gone down the shitter because humans are dumb and greedy and the Giants are making it all worse because it is maybe in their job description? Idk? Either way, the Old Gods are awakening or being reborn to try and bring back some balance. Which is an entire mood.
I would support Magne shitting a hammer on any big industry executive's doorstep any day.
The question about if Magne, Laurits & co are the reincarnations of Thor, Loki and the other Gods or proxies the Old God's chose is such a good one to ponder and it is kinda driving me insane because there is evidence for both...I think?
I mean, this is just my opinion, but I have taken the general thought process that Magne (for example), is Thor. But he is Thor in this moment in history, in this time, in this place. Having experienced a childhood and everything that came with his development until he returned to Edda.
I think it was the mirror scene in 1x03 that did it for me.
Because you saw Thor, the old Thor, looking back at Magne.
And there was a different sort of sameness to that look.
Thor was staring at Magne.
I wish I could put that scene into words, because there didn't seem to be judgement in Thor's eyes. He was just...looking. Like he wasn't shocked at what he saw. Just accepting. Meanwhile Laurits and Loki's mirror interaction looked like Loki wanted to chacha out of the mirror and use Laurit's mouth for target practice with his own mouth.
Which...is all really in character tbh.
I see Magne as Thor reincarnated. But with Thor being tempered by Magne. Magne is still Magne, but now he has Thor's abilities and a slow tease of old memories. He never stops being Magne. And in that same way, you can almost see Thor as he was in the old times being a grown up Magne in that environment. Only in modern times, Magne's wrath is always softer in it's quest for justice than Thor's wrath and ruin was. Magne will kill you, but only if you force his hand. He wants justice. Thor, I feel would kill you and consider it justice. There is agency in Magne's actions. Occasionally Thor is very present, I feel like the sex scene with Saxa was a good example. The part of him that is Thor remembers this in some way. And that scene showed how some things came to him as instinct.
I need season three like oxygen tbh.
Keep the asks coming if you want! I love talking about this show!

i think a lot about how different saxa and naevia are because on the surface they are the strong and wild warrior women type. and yes both have a hated towards the romans tho for naevia it's far more personal, and rightly so. where as saxa doesn't have that same personal vendetta. for saxa its much easier for her to accept spatracus' cause of something greater than herself, even if she doesn't always understand it. where as naevia has a much greater desire for personal vengeance.
#&. saxa#&. naevia#like they fall under the same trope category#but are also so vastly different women#&. saxa : general#&. naevia : general

season 1 ragnarok thoughts
now that iâve finished the first season, iâll just say my thoughts:
THE GOOD
Magne is my favorite character, which thank god bc heâs the main
but in all seriousness i genuinely love him. i love âcharacters that are truly and wholeheartedly good peopleâ and he fits it so well. we see in his actions, in his honesty and openness, that he cares about people and just wants the best for them.
i miss Isolde :( she was only in a few episodes but my gosh did i love her. her and Magneâs friendship was so endearing. and i also liked her character in general, she was incredibly passionate about nature and justice. itâs so interesting, the way she was the first to care about the townâs survival, the people in it, and the Jutulâs pollution, but people didnt support her, acknowledge her, or even respect her until after she died. she deserved better.
the Jutul family was interesting. i know there was definitely without a doubt some things that flew over my head because of the little knowledge i have about norse mythology. like they had so many things in there that were obvious references and clues, that i could just tell âoh mythology buffs are gonna have a field day with this oneâ lol. still, they were interesting nonetheless.
my favorite of the family is probably Ran. she caught my attention the most. Vidar was cool as a Big Bad Villain, Saxa played her part as a âloyal to a faultâ henchmen, and Fjor was alright as the steve harrington type. but Ran was most interesting to me because sometimes sheâd be on Vidar/the familyâs side, and then other times sheâd have her own agenda. i liked her.
i like the bond between Magne & Laurits. Laurits gets on Magneâs nerves but you know thereâs love there regardless.
the build up/suspense to things was good. i was afraid things would move neck-breakingly fast because of how quickly Magne got his powers (or unlocked his powers? since Wenche said they were always inside him), but luckily the show still took things at a relatively good pace. we discovered Magneâs abilities in each episode, still learning new things about him even in the finale.
im so glad Magne & Gry didnt get together!!! he had a crush on her but so far she hadnât shown any interest back, so i was terrified that theyâd just force them together anyways because of the Hero Boy Always Gets The Girl cliche. the joy i felt when she rejected him fjdkafjak. not bc i hate them or anything, but just bc there was no romantic development between them whatsoever.Â
nobody believing Magne was actually somewhat believable. it was so frustrating whenever people just wouldnt believe Magneâs words bc as an audience member, i know heâs right. but story-wise, it actually made lots of sense why they wouldnt believe him. Magne is honest to a fault and i almost tore my hair out when he told the cops that the Jutulâs dog supernaturally transformed into a weird monster. dude, no one would believe that. but it makes sense that heâd tell it that way (bc he values honesty and openness) and it makes sense for the police to be like ????. it frustrated me so bad but im also really glad it was written in a reasonable way.
and also!!! things made sense to me as a non-mythology buff!!!! while im sure references flew over my head, i still wasnt completely in the dark because things that i needed to know plot wise were explained very well! those little definitions at the beginning of each episode helped a LOT, and the history/mythology class scenes (idk what subject Erik actually taught tbh) also did a good job of providing information. i remember one specific instance when the Jutuls got Magne drunk off mead, and i was so confused bc i didnt know what mead did. so i googled it myself and skimmed a quick explanation. then when i continued watching the show, i found even that was completely unnecessary bc Magne googles it himself, and Erik explains it even further when he talks about the giants âtestingâ Thor with mead in their house. the show definitely made sure non-mythology people werent left behind which was really nice!
THE BAD/COULDVE BEEN BETTER:
Magne not showing his abilities to anyone couldve saved a lot of time. i said before that most of the people not believing Magne about things made perfect sense. however, i mostly mean that in relation to the Jutul contamination conspiracy. whenever the topic would be his powers, it was a little frustrating that Magne would just!!! never show proof. he kept telling people he could do all these things, and then when they didnt believe him and he could so easily just SHOW THEM, he wouldnt. it irked me sometimes lol.
Gry kinda felt bland/empty to me. i think out of all the characters, sheâs probably the one that could do with more flavorful writing. she kinda felt like just a plot device to be tossed around, or to just say things that would start the next conflict. its hard to say what her characteristics actually are. (when Magne said he liked her i honestly had no idea why lol) like you cant say âshes a good/sweet personâ bc what actively kind thing has she done? sheâs only seen as the âniceâ/better person because she hangs out alongside people like Saxa. and even then, she doesnt go out of her way to be âgoodâ. she just.... does nothing while they do villainous things.
and this isnt to say she Has to be good/sweet/kind or etc., but then, what other personality traits has the show been saying she has? what are her actual characteristics that pertain to her, and werent just thrown in to conveniently further the plot? i hope in season 2 they flesh her out more.
EXTRA THOUGHTS:
Laurits having a crush on Fjor was fun lol
Gry x Fjor had good build up and their romance was written pretty well
Iman interests me. i hope they use more of her because itâd be weird as fuck if they threw in microaggression/âwhite men suck amirightâ type jokes but then only had 1 token poc part of their main/recurring cast.
the photoshopped Jutul pictures had me SCREAMING omg
i said this before but i really miss Isolde!!!!! D:
so yeah, those were my thoughts! i liked the show and it def kept me hooked. im curious about a lot of things and excited to start season 2!

Sorry Tumblr is being weird. Are you open to doing Joe/Nicky for the ship game ask? If not, please do Saxa/Belesa
Both are lovely, so I'm doing both đ„°
Joe/Nicky (The Old Guard)
Ship It
What made you ship it? Gifs, I'm pretty sure
What are your favorite things about the ship? The way they talk about one another and look at each other, how they work together... they're amazing in general!
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? To be honest I'm not sure what is considered an unpopular opnion in this fandom, so I'm not sure what to say.
Saxa/Belesa (Spartacus)
Ship It
What made you ship it? The first scene in which they appeared together
What are your favorite things about the ship? I like their vibe and their fun/chaotic energy.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I don't know if that counts, but I find Saxa/Belesa at least a hundred times more interesting than Saxa/Gannicus.
You can still send me asks for *THIS* meme!

ok so Iâve just finished season 2 of ragnarok (I watch almost everything that comes from Norway to practise the language :) aaand there is one thing that I donât get. Itâs a major spoiler so I put it under the cut
Earlier in the series we were told that generally giants (jotuns) canât have children (apparently Laurits/Loki is an exception) and that Fjor, Saxa, Vidar and Ren only pretend to be a family and switch roles every generation. In one scene, Fjor even says to Ren âyouâre not my real motherâ. Thatâs why I donât get why Fjor felt that he had to avenge Vidar? Apparently he was only Vidarâs âfirstbornâ in human terms, so what did he feel so...enraged? I get that they are all âblood-relatedâ as giants and spent centuries living together but why couldnât anyone else avenge Vidar? Or was Vidar the only giant who could have children and Fjor was indeed his real son?
