I love how @photomatt and the Tumblr staff are focused on banning trans women for showing off non-sexual transition pics while there are literal hundreds of photos of naked women mistagged with fandoms in my "your tags" tab with links that I can only assume lead to virus-ridden websites.
Yes, I know I'm on strike for one thing rn, but tumblr staff needs to get their crap together. They have banned a bunch of trans women on invalid claims while trans people get harassed and stalked and their reports go unnoticed or ignored.
Fix your freaking site matt. 🔨 🚗

Bear with me because I am about to rant about something not blog related that's been grating on me ever since this blog gained more traction
USAmericans being Americancentric vs. Europeans every single time someone says something they don't like or don't agree with or is just coming from a place of different experiences than them assuming you MUST be a USAmerican coming from a place of Americancentrism: fight
For context, I do not live in the U.S., and do not base my posts off of experiences in the U.S., and as much as I find it annoying that sometimes USAmericans reply to my posts with assumptions that their experiences are universal, for example USAmericans replying to my post about closing the lid before you flush with "but public toilets don't have lids!" when they do in my country, I find it equally annoying if not even more annoying with how much Europeans assume that every time I post something they disagree with or is a different experience than them that I must be USAmerican and coming from a place of Americancentrism
For example when I made a post saying "use excuse me if you have to get into someone else's personal space" I had a bunch of British people replying to it something along the lines of "Are you Americans so uncivilized that you're not taught basic manners like this? Good thing us civilized Brits know to use excuse me!" when, again, I do not live in the U.S., the post was based on experiences I had here in my country and again, not in the U.S.
Or when I made a post just saying "don't be rude to people who got you a present you don't like" because I've had experiences here in my country of people sneering at and tossing aside presents they didn't live or even yelling at or scolding the gift giver just because it wasn't a color that they like, I did not say that you have to pretend to like it, just don't be rude and sneer at them or yell at the gift giver, but I still had a bunch of Germans replying something like "well you Americans may think you have to pretend to like gifts you don't actually like but us Germans believe in being honest!" (even though that's not even what I was saying) when again, I am not in the U.S., I have never said that I am in the U.S., this was based on experiences in my country which is not the U.S., but Europeans had to go and assume everyone who says something they don't fully like or agree with must be USAmerican.
And I know it's not just me, I've seen a lot of posts from people here on Tumblr in South American or Asia saying that Europeans are always assuming they're USAmerican and coming from a place of Americancentrism when they talk about their experiences in South American or Asia.
I saw a quote one time that was something like "USAmericans believe the entire world is the U.S. while Europeans believe the entire world is Europe + the U.S."
but the thing is that I DO live in Europe, my country is a small northern European country, but of course my experiences are going to be different than someone who is British or German or Swedish, but it's like people from those countries so often assume their experiences are universal to everyone in their country + the rest of Europe, so if a British person experiences being taught to use excuse me that MUST be universal to Europe, and that apparently nobody outside of Europe and the U.S. is on Tumblr, so if I experience being shoved by people who don't use excuse me (in my tiny northern European country) that MUST mean I live in the U.S. and MUST be USAmerican since their British experiences MUST be universal to everyone else on this website who isn't USAmerican
#sorry I might delete this later#but I wish Europeans would stop assuming their experiences are universal to everyone outside of the U.S.#or that it's only people from their country + the u.s. on this website#and especially stop assuming that every time someone says something you don't like or agree with or is different from your own experiences#that the only possible explanation is that they're USAmerican#not blog related

Not blog related but I have to share this, I literally can’t make this shit up
The first fifteen minutes of my job at a bookstore yesterday went like this
The first guy buys a bunch a demon books and introduces himself as Lucifer Yahweh.
Then the second guy shows me his wife’s ASHES and gives me his number.
I barely made it through that shift.
Bookstores don’t get many cranky customers, but we get a lot of “interesting” ones…

Moby Dick is one of the most brilliant pieces of literature out there and not for the reasons you think. Sure, it’s a great analysis on the state of the human ego in relationship with nature, but it’s also an absolutely hilarious piece from top to bottom. I mean:
•The kickstarter of the story is that, one day, Ishmael, a relatively ordinary man, gets frustrated with his life and the best solution he finds is to give up on everything and go whale hunting on a ship in the middle of nowhere. 100/100, what a fucking mood
•Ishmael is not even his name. If I remember correctly (I haven’t opened this book in three years), he picked his name himself and it means outcast, reject. Really now, why are no transmascs out there naming themselves Ishmael??
•He’s not even the main character but he’s the only one I care about
•This book probably INVENTED the “there was only one bed” trope. It introduced Queequeg by literally making him lie in the same hotel bed as Ishmael. Peak strangers to lovers if you ask me
•That’s not even it. Ishmael, uncomfortable at first, wakes up surprised by how well he slept. And in a later chapter, they are described to lie together as compared to a husband and wife.
•Also, Queequeg is an enormous Polinesian man with Māori tattoos on his face, who BY THE WAY collects human heads. Yeah, that gave Ishmael a very fun first impression of him
•The author breaks the narrative every few chapters to info dump us about whales (sometimes inaccurately, there was no Google in 1850 so I don’t blame him). Oh, yeah, because Herman Melville accidentally embarked on a whale hunting expedition for few years, so Moby Dick is inspired from his experience. But that’s a story for another time.
•My favorite info dump/conspiracy theory that he has is presented right at the start of the book. It’s about how different heroes of mythology and history, including Hercules and Saint George, might have been actually whale hunters. Ishmael is such a dork I can’t-
And these are only the things that I can say off the top of head, with a faint memory of the book from three years ago, when I binge read it in two days, so please feel free to add on. I fucking love Moby Dick go read it right now

Drug talk below the read more. Also some dark humour. And a gun emoji (it’s a water gun I think). And death mention (from children’s movies). I think that covers it?
I accidentally got high yesterday. I didn’t really look at what it said the microdose was for the shrooms I was trying. Well I did, but it didn’t sink in that this was like 6 x the microdose I used to take. And I’m not against getting high. I had a great shroom experience with close friends and my husband a couple weeks ago (I saw the Northern Lights on my fence. It was super cool lol. ) I’m mostly against being high when I’m not expecting it.
It wasn’t a full on trip high but it was definitely high enough where helping make games and plan my cousin’s baby shower didn’t go according to plan. Either way, I worked on the “Guess the children’s movie” based on the emoji. These were some of my favourites that high me came up with.
(They might be hard. I’ll be holding up a big sign of them to a crowd of 20 so I want them to take a second to sink in so it’s not just who can yell the answer the fastest.)

👠 💃 🪄
🚪 🧦 👹 👧🏻
The other ones I love are a bit of dark humour.
🦁 ☠️ 😭 (everyone said do a lion and a crown but that felt too easy and I thought this was more accurate for me 😂)
🦌 🔫 (I might get hate for this one but dark humour is how I cope so here we go! Also it’s a crowd that will get a kick out of it. )
There was no real point to this post except that I injured myself and can’t get out of bed so I’m bored. Sorry if you read all this expecting some big lesson like I usually post from my blog when I share personal experiences. There isn’t. Except maybe if you decide to microdose to try and help your mental health, double check the dose you take.

My least favorite part of academia is "putting two works in conversation with each other." Because the concept is so cool, but then the works are almost always both "from the canon" (a flawed concept itself), both European, and both already discussed together a million times already. Why must we be predictable. Why can't we put The Great Gatsby in conversation with Madoka Magica.
#i wrote this as a joke but now im realizing there are a lot of parallels between the great gatsby and madoka magica#the great gatsby#madoka magica#academia#not blog related

TW Stop Sending Me Asks About P***s
I’m temporarily turning off anonymous asks because of the amount of people still sending me messages that fiction p***philia isn’t wrong morally or legally. Like I’m not talking about legally and I’m not about to lose more followers for discussing this anymore. Those asks are deleted and if you can’t say it without anon you should know you’re wrong. You’re basically saying it’s okay for it to be accepted and glorified, and that makes you a monster and threat to society. I’m done with this discussion.
