Okay, so a couple of summers back both my PS4 controllers started getting the ever annoying stick drift (my silver on the left stick and blue on the right hilariously enough). And while I got a new controller in to replace it as a bday present, I never actually tossed either of them. Mostly because they were still usable as back ups in certain games. Like my blue was awful in any game that used camera controls, but in a game or platformer like crash it worked just fine, while the other was fine in any 3d game but in a 2d style then movement was almost impossible (like I still remember jumping over a gap only to lose my jump momentum half way through and falling to my death).

But that brings me to today. In my travels of trying to fix my PS2 controller hilariously enough, I found out that you can actually buy replacement joystick pieces and just replace them yourselves. Assuming you have a soldering gun and equipment of course.

So I got a couple of those parts and ordered a little soldering kit online, and I'm all ready to try and see i can't get my controllers working back at 100% again.

#im so excited you have no idea #in a high school computer class we had a small unit on soldering and i got to build a motherboard #and while its admittedly been like almost 15 years since then i loved that section so much #ive been wanting to do some raspberry pi stuff for a while #thought it would be fun #so this is just a great excuse to get soldering stuff and giving it a go!#if it doesnt work than im not too worried cause i have a fully usable controller anyways and i havent touched these ones in months #but if it does than instead of spending like $70 on a new controller it only cost me $16 to buy the two parts that i needed #later this afternoon my lens replacement for my ps2 should be arriving as well #though that will be a much easier install #just gotta desolder a piece on the new part than screw it in place lol #god i love fixing stuff like this on my own though #always makes me feel smart when all it takes to fix somethig is just taking it apart and cleaning a piece

#i just keep thinking about the past and the future and mostly the past #especially 2022 because i was 15 mostly. for most of that time. or barely 16 #idk 2022 was so eeeasyyyyy so little pressure. i think i am building it up in my head a bit much though i've seen my google docs from those #times. there was a lot of optimism for the future cause nothing was going on in my present LMAO. but that in itself was kind of peaceful #like idk i feel like in 2022 and years before I would get sooo INTO things . which hasn't really properly happened 4me since adventure time #it was my own personal adventure time renaissance #i know there was a big resurgence when fionna and cake released but ehhh. u know. whatever. ehhhhh #golden times for me was like ~nov of 2022 because I was in a massive slump before that irt drawing and it pulled me out of it a bit #and then also the time right BEFORE f&c released & everyone i knew or knew of was active but also people weren't reallyyy talking about f&c #they were just kinda talking about regular adventure time. and the stuff everyone wanted to see in relation to the non genderbent character #that was a good time #anyway sorry for being wistful about the past. it will happen again.#but the past has already happened and it will never happen again #and also theres way more exciting stuff for me in future #not just the general idea of it even. it's just that theres stuff thats gonna happen this year that im looking forward to #i think its just easier to think about fun stuff from the past than stuff im looking forward to cause waiting sucks #and you dont have to wait for stuff that has already happened #i should go to bed #i typo'd 'too' instead of 'to' without realising TWICE i REALLY should go to bed

I'm genuinely so excited for gencon, it made me do my homework early and I'm gonna do my exam today. So that it won't risk getting in the way of gencon.

Things I'm going to do that I'm most excited about:

Combat Classes for: sword, knife, longsword, saber, kendo, And rogue stage fighting

Introduction to dice making class

Panel on Eberron With Keith Baker AND it'll give out a commemorative d20 as part of it

Panel with critical role artists (not the players themselves, but people who work on the comics and such)

TAZ book launch event for the latest comic book WITH copies of said comic book handed out as part of it

McElroy TTRPG liveplay panel

Signing & selfie with the McElroys (Minus Justin lol)

And those are just the panels!!! Not even all of them. I also have panels for making a hollow book box, making a dice set bracelet, and a panel on gamemaster & writing (specifically bridging between being a gamemaster and being a writer, which is great for me, the writer who wants to gm at some point)

There's also going to be the merch room (so many DIIIIIICE) and assorted other open things. The biggest tabletop gaming convention in North America!!!!!!! I'm PUMPED!!!!!!!!!

#dream come true im so excited!!#it's right at the end of busy season at the end of april #they have a fairy theme this year so hell yeah this is going to be lit #it's not one of those starfall balls but a local one in Seattle called venice is sinking #it's been going for 15 years and i think with the fairy thing they're appealing to the younger audience #but it looks lit. i just signed up. the coordinator is talking with me about accommodations :)#and i just bought my dress + mask + wings + horns #i always said if i went to a ball id want it to be a masquerade this is lit #wont have my glasses though I'll be blind #ill see the performers well enough if blurry lol #ive decided ive got to do as much as i can this year. so now we've got the renfaire a concert ANOTHER local concert added #and now a freaking masquerade!!#lmao why are the only things i do either a metal concert or period event 😅#the outfit is lit i just hope it all gets here in time #i did this on a whim whoops. but i want to do things. and it's a masquerade!!#p
