He would like to! But as you said, the embarrassment he feels overrides that most of the time so he never does. However, instead of lingerie it's goofy sexy sci-fi wear. (The kind that's incredibly revealing/wouldn't make much sense as an actual outfit on a person.) He'd like to go through with wearing it one day, he just needs to be a tad more confident first. Or that's the excuse he keeps giving himself.
