hoseok: name 5 important people in your life and how you feel about them

Choi Jiwon; Hoseok's platonic soulmate. Jiwon most likely saved his life without either of them being fully aware of it. School was incredibly rough for Hoseok, even from a very young age. He had pretty much given up on ever connecting with anyone when Jiwon, despite two years younger, approached him on the playground. He never knew what it was that brought them together, but Hoseok is eternally grateful for whatever force it was that did. They were inseparable for years, until they did get separated. Hoseok doesn't know how he will ever be able to repay Jiwon for all the efforts he went through to be able to come live with him and a lot of the time he feels like he doesn't deserve the unwavering loyalty and support, but Jiwon has his whole heart, even if he sucks at showing it.

Ho Duksoo; Hoseok's adoptive brother. Their relationship has been anything but smooth and there was a mutual rejection going on for a while, but ultimately they managed to bond by speaking in Korean (and most likely frustrating their parents in the process). Hoseok struggles with the fact that he, already someone who finds it hard to read people, can never tell how Duckie feels about things or even about him. Sometimes he worries that the walls the other puts up are his own fault for being too pushy, so he's learned to be the first one to take a step back and try to give Duckie space. It took a long time to get used to Duckie's way of communicating - Hoseok being very sensitive to rejection and criticism made this a painful process - but he's gotten to a point where he's now comfortable enough not to take things too seriously. Most of the time. Hoseok does love Duckie and it warms his heart when the accidental 'hyung' gets thrown at him, even if he still walks on eggshells sometimes.

Maxxie Moon; Some may say the two are unlikely friends, others might see exactly why the two gravitated towards each other. Maxxie isn't the type of person Hoseok would normally have approached, but he's grateful that the two did end up engaging in conversation, despite how much he struggled at first. Hoseok has learned Maxxie and himself have a similar outlook on life, they both share a love for music and despite Maxxie's hard exterior, Hoseok has seen glimpses of a softer person. Maxxie fascinates him, the way he doesn't speak any Korean, hates sweets and drinks his coffee black. Maybe part of him wishes he had more of Maxxie's 'don't give a fuck' attitude, rather than just having the appearance without the personality to match.

Benjamin Park; When Hoseok came to America and his adoptive parents finally suggested for him to go back into therapy, the boy was incredibly pessimistic about the idea. How was he meant to be able to express himself when he already struggled to speak, let alone in a secondary language? And as expected, not much came out of any of the psychiatrists they found for him. After moving to Shrike Heights to chase after Duckie, Hoseok realized that perhaps he did need the extra bit of stability, just by being able to vent to an unbiased party. Stumbling upon Ben felt like a miracle, as for once he didn't have to worry or feel embarrassed for accidentally switching languages in the middle of a conversation. Even if he still gets awkward sometimes, he feels comfortable enough to properly talk to Ben about his life and Hoseok does view him as some sort of mentor.

His biological mother; Hoseok has conflicting feelings towards pretty much all parental figures in his life, but he's the 'closest' to his mother. Part of him resents her for how things went down with his father, though he isn't sure if he's angry about her calling the police on him or for the many years in which she was oblivious to what was going on. He also feels guilt for how much of a burden all the events have been on her, feels responsible for the way it affected her health, feels selfish for trying to take the easy way out and subsequently ending up on the other side of the world. He loves his mom for her unconditional love for him and knows that her decisions were to protect him - after all, she chose her child over her marriage. But Hoseok predicts it will take a long time for the relationship between them to balance out, especially since he hasn't been able to see her in years.

so last year during a period of intense suicidal depression i made this necklace that i always wear, right, and the thing is it's genuinely brought me a lot of comfort and relief and i've developed a strong sentimental attachment to it, to the point that i can inarguably state that it's had a net positive effect on my mental wellbeing. however i did now just have to stop to almost throw up laughing because i realised that i've succumbed to the amulet.

"hello, i am here to talk to you about the incident from a few minutes ago, because i feel you might be unwell, and i am invested in your personal wellbeing." "thank you, i am unwell because the incident was hurtful to me due to my childhood, which was bad." I CANT!!!!

do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

I hate it when actors talk about an animal they had to work with on set and it’s obvious they were not patient with the animal at all. You especially see this with non cat people who had to work with cats and are like “Working with that cat was the bane of my existence, never on cue, scratched me once, always seemed afraid of me.” Like yeah, she’s a cat. She could probably sense you hated her. It’s hard enough to be an animal in the entertainment industry without some guy being a dick to you. Are you that uncharitable with human costars (and particularly child actors) or do you just hate animals?

Conversely, it’s so heartwarming when an actor speaks positively about an animal they worked with and/or there are behind the scenes stories of the crew genuinely trying to make the animal comfortable and giving them grace.

One of my favorite examples of this is Mad Max 2 (1981) which was made on a budget of $4.5 million AUD (about $13.5 USD in today’s money). They ended up casting a dog from the pound that was scheduled to be put down and by all accounts the dog was a nightmare to work with. But most of the cast and crew loved him. The dog’s name was Dog so his character’s name was also Dog. He was difficult to train but super food motivated so they kept writing dog food into scenes for him. He kept freaking out on set and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Eventually they realized part of the reason he kept acting out was because he was terrified of the sound of cars and motorcycles so they had special doggy earplugs made. His character was supposed to be aggressive but real Dog was very affectionate and could not be made to behave aggressively so they had to use selective editing to make him seem more menacing. When filming was done multiple crew members wanted to adopt him because he was such a good bad boy. He was adopted by one of the stuntwomen and got to live out the rest of his life doing actual blue heeler things. That was his only film role.
