WHAT MAKES A PERSONALITY

A template for analyzing features of a personality beyond listing adjectives.

SELF-CONCEPT

View of Self: Diminutive or doesn't exist, set by neglect and abandonment early in life. Self-preservation is born out of the desire to continue chasing pleasurable sensations, and not because he values himself to any degree. In fact, sense of self tends to become lost in excitement or rapture, allowing him to enjoy high degrees of pain (inflicting and receiving), but can lead (and has led) to a disconnect from reality without some sort of tether to keep him bound to the present. Lack of worth does not manifest as humility or self-deprecation, but instead as a willingness to be a decoy, shield, or - in the past - to throw himself wholly into worship of the Fell Dragon's cruelty. Prefers the will and opinions of others to his own. View of Others: Like vague wisps beyond a wall of fog. The only people who matter are those with whom he has immediate dealings, while the rest might as well not exist. He does not spend time comparing himself to others, and only makes cursory "with me" or "against me" judgments when individuals cross his path, unless already colored by the opinions of people he values. Unconsciously perceptive and especially sensitive to the judgment of others, he more often views people as hostile, which he meets with hostility in turn. View of World: A dark and chaotic place where relationships are transactional and the gods are cruel. Instead of lamenting the state of things though, he gives himself willingly to it. Manipulation, lying, and using and discarding others are just a part of life, and punishment is borne out of love. If he is not suffering, then he is not loved. Motivations & Goals: To continue serving Zephia as her loyal hound. As she is the only person who has ever accepted him, nothing else matters. Without her, he would have nothing. What they Value Most: Belonging

EMOTIONAL REACTIONS

Reaction to Stress: Has an uncanny ability to derive joy from negative emotional experiences, which means he doesn't often feel stress. Even impending failure comes with the exciting prospect of punishment. As such, he often comes off as exceedingly lax. This, of course, is a defense derived from his formative years being filled with nothing but stress over trying to belong somewhere or to someone. Reaction to Fear: Boldly confronts it. Similar to the above, hardly anything frightens him anymore. He has long-since embraced the horrors of the world, and any sort of emotional or physical pain excites him. He does not even fear for the safety of his allies, trusting instead that they know their limits like he does. And if they don't... they probably got what was coming to them. Reaction to Success: If told to, will celebrate with physical indulgence. Usually throws himself into a fight or some other activity with a high risk of injury. If these aren't available, strong liquor usually suffices. Otherwise, doesn't tend to celebrate his success, or even really notice it. Reaction to Failure: Guilt is consumed by an even greater enthusiasm for punishment. This is, as he was taught within the church, where love is strongest. Correcting a wayward child with the severest discipline is the difficult duty of the guardian and comes from a place of compassion, a desire to set that child right. Griss hungers for it even more than he hungers for success.

DEVELOPMENT

Ideal Self: He has no concept of this Areas of Growth: While he has come a long way from his days as one of the Fell Dragon's disciples, pursuing suffering so zealously that he found himself ostracized even by his peers, there is still an insatiable desire for acceptance and love that he can neither conceptualize nor convey in a way that others understand. Barriers to Growth: A disconnect from most emotion except anger and hatred. Abrasive communication style. A penchant for violence and aggression. The pursuit of pain has become so deeply rooted in his essence that there may never be a replacement strong enough to change him.

Ok so I’m in early season 4. I’ve always really liked Bonnie, but she never gets anything to do and when she does it’s always just “here’s a random guy for you to have a relationship with and that will be your story for a while” (her and Jeremy 🤮) and it’s never interesting (although I wouldn’t mind if they went anywhere at all with her and Damon tbh).

I also very much like Damon, by far the better brother. I really don’t care about anything Elena-related anymore and I think it’s mostly because they’ve played everything out with her several times through already. Also sorry to Nina Dobrev but she’s not a great actor and I’ve kinda had it with the character by now. The less said about Stefan the better. Jeremy and Tyler too.

Now that I’m several seasons in though it really is feeling like they’re stretching for content. The world and season threats got too big and they have no idea how to stop the power creep so they just keep adding stuff that totally breaks established lore. One of the things I love about Caroline is how well she grounded the story (sure she’s a vampire but she’s also still really into regular high school drama and trying to be a normal person still).

Hello!! It's been a long time since I watched the show so I apologise in advance for any inadvertent spoilers or vague plot recall.

Okay so Bonnie has legit been done the dirtiest even though she's one of the coolest characters. I like some of her plot lines where her witch roots means she's actively opposed to the vampires but she still wants to be on Elena's side, the conflict could have been interesting but it's never mined deeper. I hate her and Jeremy too and I agree that she and Damon have some legit chemistry (explored in further seasons, so you do have something to look forward to!)

Yeah Elena is annoying, and I got tired quickly about how everything was always about her. I'm not sure if I prefer Damon over Stefan, but Stelena is defs more boring. I prefer Stefan as a stand alone character or his friendship dynamic with Lexi, Caroline etc (more on this later).

I agree with you that the world building gets bigger than the writers can handle, but I really enjoyed the cure storyline in s4. I'm in the minority, but I really liked how there are all these factions with their own agendas competing to get the cure, and well, i always like it when the Originals have to team up with the Mystic Falls gang.

Talking about the Originals, I think they're the best thing the show has ever done. The casting, the acting, the group dynamics, the lore, the integration with the core tvd group... Perfection. What do you think? Who's your favourite Original?

Yes, Caroline is such a breath of fresh air in the show. I absolutely love how she's one of the few characters who actually LOVES being a vampire. I related to her even before she turned, when she was talking about being second choice "no matter how much I do, its never enough". She's thriving as a vampire as well as retaining her connection to her human side, without any of the angsty brooding that Stefan and all do. One of the reasons I love Klaroline is that Klaus is the ONLY one who recognises this, that she wants a life bigger and better than this. He accepts her as she is, and I just looove how much he changes throughout the course of knowing her, how he consistently puts her first. Sigh. I can go on and on about Klaroline. They have such epic moments, my god. What have been your favourite scenes??

running like water - a Zutara oneshot

AU Post-finale, that time when an assassin crashes Zuko's 18th birthday. Luckily he has a master waterbender by his side. Ft. a badass Katara, Fire Nation political intrigue, and Bloodbending as flirting.

(Realised I'd written this years ago but never posted. Hopefully this gives me some much-needed inspiration while I muddle through my WIPs. Happy reading!)

It’s Zuko’s 18th birthday and he is nowhere to be found. By all accounts, he’d made an appearance at the Royal Ball for a respectable amount of time and then disappeared into thin air. Katara hurries across the halls of the palace, one hand gathering the skirts of her formal gown, her heels clicking on the marble floor. The palace staff haven’t seen him either—he wasn’t in his bedchambers, nor in the library, and she’d even checked under the willow tree next to the turtleduck pond. Katara fumes, her annoyance rising. She’s laboured over his gift for days, the least he could do is not get kidnapped or whatever.

It’s nearing midnight and Katara is about to contemplate hiring the services of Jun and her shirshu when she remembers the one place she hadn’t yet searched: the rooftop. While the rooftop was largely inaccessible, owing to its steep pagoda architecture, there was a flat alcove, hidden to the public, that opened up to the sky. Zuko had shown it to her a while ago when he was making plans for renovation, but it was dirty and in disrepair then, which is why it had slipped her mind.

The entrance to the roof is hidden behind a tapestry, a rather heavy, ugly thing the colour of blood. Katara twitches the tapestry aside and slips behind it. A narrow spiral staircase stands in front of her, illuminated by a hanging dusty lantern. Clutching the wrought iron railings, she begins the dizzying climb. An unexpected sight greets her at the top.

The place has been transformed into a charming rooftop garden. Vines climb the walls and trail down the parapet. Rows of potted herbs are flanked by beds of exotic flowers, the spicy and sweet scents intermingling in interesting ways. Fat beeswax candles stuck on iron stands are placed strategically in recesses, giving the entire garden a low, atmospheric lighting. And lounging on a profusion of cushions, eyes shut, his top knot undone, is Zuko.

“Took you long enough,” he says lazily, cranking one eye open.

“Happy Birthday,” Katara snaps, flinging the wrapped parcel at his stomach with a little too much force.

Zuko straightens immediately. “What is this?”

“Your present, dummy. I’ve been running around everywhere looking for you.”

He frowns. “Didn’t Oromi deliver you the message?”

“What message?” she asks, sinking into a cushion beside him.

“He must have misplaced the note again.” Oromi was the new palace gardener, a country lad, kind-hearted but rather forgetful. He was a magician at his work, though—he could make the stubbornest of saplings sprout and the most exotic flowers bloom under his care, almost like he was bending them. This little rooftop garden seems to be his doing. “I wrote you a message asking you to meet me here. I could not stand all those dreadful festivities.”

“Yes, yes what a bore having people throwing grand parties in your honour.”

A sheepish smile spread across his face. “I appreciate it all, I really do.”

“The royal cooks roasted an entire hippo-ox in your honour.”

“And I savoured every bite of it…but it exhausts me, having to put on this stern, aloof, regal front.” He does look exhausted, there are lines around his eyes that have no business being there. He also looks older; the planes of his face have sharpened and there’s stubble on his face on days he has no official business. “I hate pretending to be someone I’m not, especially on my birthday, when I’d rather spend time with the people I like.” His eyes flicker to her and her stomach flips.

Clearing her throat, Katara gestures to the package lying in his lap. “Open your gift.”

Zuko picks up the gift, examining it from every angle. Katara watches him carefully as his deft fingers unwrap the parcel, untying the strings and peeling off the layers. Nestled in the folds is a stack of small, unassuming-looking, semi-circular cakes.

“It’s a mooncake,” says Katara hurriedly. “A traditional Water Tribe recipe. Probably not a very special gift but my mom used to make them for birthdays-”

Zuko is already digging into the stack. He takes a bite, makes a sound of appreciation, and polishes off the whole cake. “Is there fruit jam inside?!” he asks in delight, mouth full. He offers a cake to her and picks another for himself.

“Yes!” She grins. “Salmonberry jam. I spent days in the palace kitchen, trying to get the thickness of the filling right. It needs to be the right amount of oozy…”

The words die on her tongue. Zuko is licking the jam off his fingers. She puts down her cake, suddenly very flustered.

Zuko looks up as she falls silent. Their eyes meet and the moment holds still. They’ve been dancing around each other for the past two years, longer than that, if she’s honest. Lingering looks, not-so-accidental touches, charged banter…she’s been noticing it more in their interactions lately, whether it’s quiet picnics beside the turtleduck pond or heated fights during state meetings. And now this connection, whatever it may be, is threatening to make itself known in very real ways. Katara has half a mind to brush off the moment with a flippant remark.

It’s Zuko who breaks the silence. “You look beautiful, by the way,” he comments. She’s wearing a traditional Fire Nation gown, richly embroidered in threads of red and gold, but her hair—

“Your hair is braided Water Tribe style. It looks good on you.”

She smiles, fighting off a blush. “Thank you.”

Longing - a Picturesque prequel (Klaroline fanfiction)

Hellooo, the Picturesque prequel from Klaus's POV is finally here!

Longing

Summary: Klaus likes his life, mostly. He has his own flat in New York City, a great group of friends, a budding career as an artist, but as he's navigating all the ups and downs the city throws at him, he realises that he's longing for something more. Or rather, someone.

[The long-awaited prequel to Picturesque! As promised, this is from Klaus's POV and tells the story of how in the process of figuring out who he wants to be, he's more and more drawn towards Caroline. Too bad she doesn't think of him as anything other than a friend...]

I cannot believe how long this took! Writing from Klaus's POV was challenging, and I felt like my writing style had changed in the years since I wrote Picturesque. Anyway, here's my labour of love, hope you like it! This will be a two-parter, the second chapter will be up next week. To new readers, this is a prequel to Picturesque so PLEASE read that fic before this! You'll enjoy this fic better *after* reading Picturesque. While chronologically/plot-wise Longing comes first, I feel like from the progression of my writing style and the work I've put in the characterisations, it makes more sense to read Longing after Picturesque. Also, if you're a familiar reader, I'd still suggest you read Picturesque, just to brush up (I've made some slight edits for continuity, especially in the last chapter)

Ace cannot be saved: An essay on One Piece’s Marineford Arc and the story afterward

When I read the Marineford Arc for the first time, I went in knowing Ace was going to die. It’s the biggest spoiler for One Piece and one that’s pretty much unavoidable if you wander around trying to determine if reading the manga/watching the anime is for you. Which I did.

Even knowing this, my heart had the audacity of hoping he would live anyway. As the chains were broken, as Whitebeard died in a final stand, as Ace and Luffy ran for the exit with gathered allies defending their passage, I even thought he was going to make it.

(That’s how good the writing is, the art is. Very good.)

But he didn’t.

Instead Ace dies, following the fatal flaw that a future flashback will inform us of, of him refusing to back down. Dying to save his brother’s life and thanking his loved ones for the last and only time, thanking them for daring to love him.

Enough to make any reader cry.

There’s a reason why “Ace Lives” is one of the biggest tags in One Piece fanfiction and fandom. Countless fics tackle the heart-wrenching fate of canon and rewrite it to save Portgas D. Ace.

But if I had the chance to change canon? I would never even dream of taking out Ace’s death. Why?

Because the story after it (and some of it before it) wouldn’t mean as much.

Before Marineford and the events leading directly up to it, Luffy and his crew don’t lose. They might have defeats here and there, but none are permanent and have lasting effects. There is a feeling of invincibility, that they cannot lose as the heroes of One Piece.

Sabody, Impel Down, Marineford...each one destroys this invincibility. Luffy will become Pirate King (because that’s that the story) but it’s not without actual challenge and loss.

Luffy loses Ace not only because he has to lose severely to show how dangerous the future ahead is and the need to get stronger. But he also loses Ace to prove that the world is forever changed and previous foundations (like the Emperors and Warlords) may no longer exist in the form they’ve been so far.

Also...

Ace does not get executed for being a pirate or doing any number of pirate related crimes. No, he is fated to die because he dares to have the last Pirate King as his father. This is something that would have happened to him even if Ace had decided to be a civilian who had done absolutely nothing against the law. Bloodline determines punishment and salvation, not actual actions.

Thus every piece of corruption and unfairness from the World Government so far comes to a head: it is not corruption from those particular awful individuals, but something rooted in its very core. It was always going to turn out this way because that is the way the World Government is built.

It is vital that this development occurs for us readers to realize the following: The heroes cannot hope to become part of the system or rule it, like in Naruto/Baruto. Nor can they hope to come to an eventual truce due to friends in its ranks, like in Bleach.

No, One Piece must has its revolution. Or the Straw Hats will all die for daring to even exist. It is a promise already set in stone by Enies Lobby.

Due to losing Ace, every fight Luffy has in future arcs has an added burning edge. He cannot lose because he knows what it is like to lose now and he cannot survive that again.

For example, the Whole Cake Island with Sanji means so much more with the shadow of Ace hanging over it and it meant a lot already. Luffy fervently fights for Sanji’s return, even refusing to eat. He cannot lose Sanji like he lost Ace.

Another comparison, that I will not go into detail for: Sanji choosing to save his awful family from a death they probably deserve at the hands of a greater power verses Garp choosing to defend the execution stand when he knows that Ace hasn’t done anything to earn this fate? Interesting. Very interesting.

In the end, Ace’s death has to occur for the themes and storyline of One Piece to fully come into play. []

I wonder why, but I was able to imagine Daichi in this scenario. So, I hope this comforts you in some way. “Gran-Gran!” I called out to my paternal grandmother as I was climbing up the stairs of my duplex house looking for my paternal grandparents’ bedroom. I finally find the bedroom, only for their bed to be covered by a huge mosquito net, my grandmother reading while my grandfather would look at me angrily for no reason, maybe because he forgot who I was?

My grandfather had met with an accident a long time ago and recently he had a stroke, because of which I could only hear him speak in our mother tongue and because he seemed to have been suffering from dementia, he had trouble remembering who all of us were, but since I was young at that time, it was hard for me to grasp all of that, so his eyes would scare me, only for my grandmother’s embrace to be equally warm and comforting.

“Hello, my darling. How’s my little one doing today?” Gran-Gran would reply ruffling my hair, and showering loads of kisses on me. I swear I’d never been this grateful to have received immense love and affection as much as I received from her. “I’m scared, Gran-Gran. I’m scared of sleeping alone. Please sing me to sleep.” I replied, pleading to hear her lovely voice.

“Okay okay, my child. Here it goes:

My Bonnie lies over the ocean, My Bonnie lies over the sea, My Bonnie lies over the ocean, Oh, bring back my Bonnie to me. Bring back, oh bring back, Oh bring back my Bonnie to me, to me, Bring back, oh bring back, Oh bring back my Bonnie…” she’d stopped singing to find me asleep. Smiling, she ended the song with “…to me. Love you, my child. You’re a treasure of God, this house, and of this family,” and called out to my father to take me to my bed to sleep.

Present (one day before The Day)

“Y/N, your uncle and aunt are coming to visit Gran-Gran, so make sure to make them feel welcome,” my father called out to me.

“Yes, dad, on it,” said I, while holding my grandmother’s hand, not knowing how to react to whatever was happening around me. Months ago, when I was in (the country of your choice for studies), my grandmother fell down in the restroom, breaking one of her hips and hitting her head hard, which caused her to have a stroke, which later caused her dementia.

It was weird to say that she couldn’t recognize who I was, and that had hurt me a lot. Even when I came back, the conversations we did have didn’t have the same love that they once did. She still had a sense of humor, but she still couldn’t recognize me, and I did my best not to lose patience with her, and it was taking a toll on me. I needed to hear a calming voice to tell me that it’ll get better.

I’d ended up calling my boyfriend, Daichi Sawamura, who by now, was working in the Miyagi Police Force, and I’d thankfully caught him at the right time. We’d known each other since we were kids, and Gran-Gran actually took a liking to Daichi, hoping and praying that we’d be together, not knowing of his religious background.

So, when Daichi moved to Japan for his middle and high school, I was really upset, but, I also remembered his promise that we’d still be in touch. We kept our promise, continued to be in touch while he introduced me to Kōshi Sugawara and Asahi Azumane, his best friends and fellow teammates in the Karasuno High School Volleyball Team, and were there for each other in our highs and lows. So, when they won the Miyagi Spring Prefectural Qualifiers under his captaincy and I got to view the match live, I was crying in happiness and while I was certain that Daichi might have a crush on someone else there, he immediately video called me after the match, and asked me to be his girlfriend. Without a shadow of a doubt, I accepted his proposal. I was sure of my love for him, but I felt stupid as to whether I should tell him, ‘cause he was far away, but every call, every text, every conversation quelled all of the uncertainties I had when it came to Daichi.

While everyone wasn’t for it, Gran-Gran was. She even fought for our relationship, which was surprising, to say the least. Eventually, everyone warmed up to the situation, welcoming him to crash at our place whenever he came to (your country).

I’d gone to a separate room, taking a small break from the chores, and decided to call him. Our conversation went like this:

“Hello?”

“Daichi?”

“Babe!!! Oh my god. I’m so glad you called. Guys, excuse me, I’ll be back.”

“Did I disturb you, babe?”

“No no, my colleagues and I were having a bonding session. They know about you, so I’d been excused so as to talk to you. How’ve you been, darling?”

I start crying in fear, “Daichi, *sniffles* Gran-Gran’s not doing well. *sniffles* She’s getting worse. *sniffles* She’s breathing heavily, *sniffles* she’s being fed nasally now. *sniffles* I’m scared of losing her…,” I couldn’t bother continuing as I began sobbing, not realizing that I could some heavy breathing from Daichi too.

I calm myself down hearing his words. It helped that while he was upset about her demise, I know that he’d have to steel himself up for me. To be my rock. Sometimes, I’m so lucky that Daichi’s the mature one in the relationship. “Yeah, I do. It just doesn’t make it better though, babe..”

“I know babe. If you need me to be with you…”

“…You’re a call, a text, and a flight away. *sniffles* I will, babe. I love you so much.”

“I love you too. You’ve got to help your family more now, Y/N. They need you.”

Somewhere in June 2013

The moment I’d heard that I’d just got into a top-notch engineering college, I was speechless. I was about to be the first engineer in my family and it hit me. It was because of Gran-Gran who was patient enough to teach me mathematics and instill the love for the subject in me that enabled me to fall in love with Science, which led me to apply for engineering. I immediately went to Gran-Gran, touched her feet in gratitude, and hugged her. No sooner did the bell ring than I ran to the door and noticed that Daichi had come home.

I was so surprised to see his genial smile and I couldn’t wait to receive his warm hugs and kisses. Oh, how I missed him. I hugged him, he picked me up and then put me down, both of us crying. I brought him first to Gran-Gran to introduce him as my boyfriend, “Gran-Gran, do you remember…”

“Of course, I remember Daichi. Come here, darling. Welcome home.”

He touched her feet out of respect and sat by her side on the ground.

“Daichi, I know that you’re in a relationship with Y/N.”

“Yes, ma’am, I am..”

“No, ma’am, Gran-Gran’s fine. You’d be a part of this family soon, no matter what Y/N’s family says.”

“Gran-Gran, I promise to take care of Y/N as they're so precious to me. I’ll make sure to give them a happy life.”

“Absolutely, also, remember this..”

“Yes?”

“When I pass away,”

Both of us replied “GRAN-GRAN!”

“I’m serious, kids. When I do give up on my life, be certain about two things: 1. I am going to heaven. To be with my Heavenly Father. I’m sure of that. He’s saved me far beyond my imagination.”

Daichi replied, “We’re aware, Gran-Gran. We’re in awe of your devotion,” and I nodded in agreement.

Gran-Gran’s faith was really sturdy. Despite an innumerable amount of sicknesses, trials, losses, and everything else she went through, she never lost her faith, which I was in awe of.

“2. You have my blessing for your union. Anytime you two decide to get married, know that I’d be watching you from afar, wishing nothing but a strong marriage with a solid foundation.”

“Gran-Gran, seriously?” We were shocked. We were so delighted upon hearing the news.

“Yes, Y/N. However, both of you must equally work hard to be financially stable.”

“You have our word, Gran-Gran.”

Present: The Day She Stopped Breathing

“Y/N,” Aunt Yolanda called out to me and I ran to her, “do you know how to check a pulse?”

“Yes, Aunt Yolanda, I do. But what happened?”

“Your Gran-Gran stopped breathing a couple of minutes ago and I just wanted to make sure.”

I could feel my heart drop upon hearing this. No, this can’t be true. Gran-Gran can’t just die. I checked Gran-Gran’s pulse. It was mild, but I could feel it.

Chaos ensued for some time. No one knew how to react. Then, one moment, we couldn’t feel the pulse anymore. Her body started growing cold. I called for my brother-in-law, who ended up doing chest compressions on Gran-Gran, but no response. Then, finally, we called for a doctor who then confirmed it and then called in the time of death.

So it was it. My Gran-Gran was dead. She’s gone. I didn’t know how to process it all. My brother-in-law and I went to my sister who didn’t know what was happening, and when we broke the news to her, it’s safe to say that she didn’t take it well at all. You could say that we were all broken. But I still didn’t know how to process it. I then called Daichi, who immediately picked up the phone,

“Babe, you never call me at this time. What happened?”

“Daichi..”

“Did Gran-Gran..”

“Yes, babe.”

“Baby, I..I’m..I’m so sorry. I just..I don’t know…”

“Babe, were you serious when you said that you were a call, a text..”

“Or a flight away? You bet I was. I’m applying for leave right now so to speak.”

“Daichi!”

“What? Y/N I’m serious. You’re the love of my life. Someday, you’re going to be my partner. So, this is me showing you how I’d be there for you when times get hard.”

I felt my cold heart eventually grow warmer upon hearing this, but I still couldn’t bring myself to cry.

“Babe, come soon if that’s the case.”

“Of course. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

The Next Day

My cousins and relatives had come over to help our family with everything that was going on. My father had one brother and two sisters, one of whom passed away years ago due to lupus. So dad’s siblings, their partners, and their children came down to help with the funeral and memorial proceedings, which was a blessing in disguise. We were getting ready for lunch, that’s when I’d heard the doorbell ring. I was surprised considering everyone was here. Then it hit me. Opening the door, I then noticed my boyfriend standing in front of me with his luggage. He really was here. Daichi really flew all the way from Japan to be with me. Me! I don’t deserve him one bit.

No sooner did I see him than I engulfed him in my arms and gave myself permission to finally cry and sob. Everyone looked at me but I didn’t care. Daichi really was the best part of my life. My rock. I felt safe whenever I was with him. I really did love him.

He cupped my cheeks with his hands, wiping my tears, and said, “I told you I was a call, a text, and a flight away.”

We chuckle and I then invite him over, introducing him to everyone. “Family, this is Daichi Sawamura, my boyfriend. Gran-Gran loved him a lot as well, and even approved of our relationship.”

“Y/N ‘s family,” Daichi replied, addressing everyone while bowing down his head. “Gran-Gran was a woman of unshakable faith. Her sense of compassion, kindness, love, forgiveness was seen from her beliefs, and that impacted me in my personal life and in my relationship with Y/N. I’m going to miss her a lot and I’d love to help all of you in any way.”

My father went up to him, hugged him, and thanked him, “Thank you, Daichi. I couldn’t have asked a better partner for Y/N. Child, you’re lucky. My mother saw something in you that we couldn’t see. I truly apologize on behalf of all of us. She not only was a woman of unshakable faith, but also a woman who had a good judge of character. Truly, I say this to you, Daichi, from now on, you’re a part of our family. You have all of our blessings.”

Daichi and I looked at each other, smiled, and hugged Dad. The acceptance of our relationship wouldn’t have been possible if Gran-Gran didn’t fight for us. Thank you, Gran-Gran. Until we meet again.

Your blog, your rules but your comments in Five-0 fandom show you're biased towards Steve and everything he is or did, like he was never in the wrong. I find myself disagreeing with you more every time I read something publish/reblog. It's annoying

Dear Anon,

Thank you for your message, even though I’m not sure what you were aiming here for.

Anyway, YOU’RE RIGHT. Why? Well, let me tell you something I’ve learned rather early in life; how we judge others - real, fictional, known personally or not - is how we judge ourselves. So yes, even the most open minded, insightful and objective person on the planet Earth, has personal bias of all sorts. I’m hardly an exception to that; of course I am limited to my own POV at times - so are you; so is every single Tumblr user, at the very, very least, occasionally.

As someone, who relates to Steve the most of H50 characters, I may possibly understand his various actions, words, thoughts, feelings and decisions better than fans, who don’t really connect to him that much, or even at all. That doesn’t mean I have never considered him being OOC, nor does it equal with me blindly justifying Steve’s behaviour and believing he was never in the wrong (spoiler! - he was, plenty of times!); or it means that I never felt like punching him hard in the face and that I was always happy with his storylines. However, none of the above excludes that I sympathise with other characters as well and I find them relatable and reliable too, to some degree. I am also surely not always right, nor I have monopoly on Steve McGarrett’s character.

I am though, always doing my best to remain objective and open minded in my metas, replies and tags. I’m certainly NOT a fan of glorifying the characters I love/like, nor I am keen to demonise someone simply because I am not fond of them, or I want ‘my problematic fave, etc’ look better. However I don’t deny that I am failing sometimes, ending up doing just that and completely missing the point.

If I have offended you with anything I posted on my blog, I’m sorry to hear that and from the bottom of my heart, it wasn’t intentional. BUT Anon, you’re absolutely correct, this is my Tumblr; I didn’t force you to keep reading my stuff, when you realised you can’t agree with me and my comments annoy you.

I won’t start hating on Steve, just because I think he was a jerk at times, or made very human mistakes; or because I didn’t like the series finale and completely agree that Danno deserved better. Nor will I take my frustrations and disgust with Peter Lenkov on Steve’s character or Alex himself. Call me naive, but I’m trying to look at the bigger picture here. Call me crazy, but liking something does not mean you think it’s always good, or even right; and hating this or that, doesn’t equal with considering the entire plot-line or character, from start to finish, a crappy one. While fictional characters aren’t real, media certainly tend to reflect on reality; and that, dear Anon, is hardly ever simply black and white. Hence, pardon my slightly - or not - biased point of view.

Please know that there are surely plenty of blogs out there, which would meet your standards much better than mine; where you could find metas you can genuinely agree with and headcanons you can fully support. To each their own, be and let be; and if something doesn’t suit you anymore, for your own sake, please let it go. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially in fandoms.

I just want to say yes to everything you wrote in the tags about the crossover. I only mentioned Carlos because the Buddie fandom seems to be really excited about TK and Carlos being there to validate their ship. I wasn't overlooking Grace and Tommy and I'm glad you mentioned them. I will be pissed if Tommy, Grace and Carlos don't get their own storyline back in Austin and it better not be just them watching news footage on the TV. All three deserve better.

On one hand, it was so great to see everyone so excited about the crossover confirmation yesterday - it’s been a long hiatus with very little spirited discussion about this show, and I’ve truly missed that!

On the other hand, I just 10/10 could not relate. Literally, here’s a visual representation of my face as I scrolled through all of the tags yesterday: 😬

(I’m going to put my initial concerns under the cut in case people want to avoid that kind of discussion - I’m really not here to rain on anyone’s parade...)

I will admit that a crossover is never something I’ve wanted. I’ve watched a lot of crossovers for other shows and they are almost never worth the screen-time that they take up, especially when that screen-time is already so limited and unfairly allotted to cast members. While it’s exciting to see fan-favorite characters interacting, when the shows are set so far apart, it’s not like we’ll be seeing important relationships develop that can actually be explored well in the future beyond a random line thrown out here or there. Sure, scenes with TK and Buck seem fun and enjoyable, but I’m here for the development of the characters and relationships that I love, many of whom already suffer from slighted storytelling. If I wanted to see characters from different shows interact, I’d read fanfic about it. (Spoiler: I don’t do that.)

And yeah, the minute that I realized that the 126 was most likely in California to fight wildfires, my heart absolutely sank. Carlos definitely won’t be there. There will be little-to-no Tarlos in the episode. Grace definitely won’t be there, and probably very little Grace/Judd. It would be so easy to just cut them from this episode entirely, and if the Lone Star writers have made one thing clear throughout season 1, they like to take the easy way out. Like, I get that as the sole cop on the show, Carlos is an outlier and easy to get rid of when it’s convenient, but that’s bullshit. A good writer would find ways to incorporate him into scenes and moments, not just be like “we don’t need him” and then CUT HIM FROM 20% OF THE SEASON and give him scraps of screen time in episodes that he does appear in.

And like I said in my tags, I really only have this problem because Carlos was the only character to be cut from episodes in season 1. If they were to say “well we have a lot of main characters and can only focus on a few at a time, so everyone gets to be in 9/10 episodes,” that would make me feel better. I could accept that. But that’s not what’s been happening on this show, and it’s still a concern I have for future seasons. (God, please let me be wrong, I would love to be wrong.)

(And like, how does this all really serve the characters and world-building of Lone Star? This episode already feels like it’s entirely for the benefit of the original show and while I like that show well-enough, I’m not happy that Lone Star’s budget and screen-time is being sucked into a 2-hour wildfire adventure. Tell me you can imagine, at some point in the future, the entire 118 crew coming to Austin for an episode. That would seem pretty ridiculous, I think - so I’m just not seeing a balance here. It seems to me like this episode serves 911 more than anything, ESPECIALLY if Lone Star characters get cut completely to make it happen.)

While I would HOPE that the writers will write material for Carlos, Grace, and Tommy, I’m not holding my breath. I’m seeing the following ways this episode will be written:

LIKELY: No Austin scenes at all. The 126 arrive in California at the end of the 911 episode, and then spend their entire episode in LA.

POSSIBLE: If they do show Austin, it might be when the crew returns home at the very end - maybe we’ll see Carlos and Grace greeting their partners as part of a classic episode-ending montage sequence.

POSSIBLE: Maybe we’ll get a phone call between characters in Austin and LA. Or, more likely, we’ll get reference to phone calls having been made, but we won’t actually see them.

I WON’T HOLD MY BREATH: The writers divide the episode’s screen time between LA and Austin, showing the 126 working with the 118 while Carlos + Grace + Tommy deal with emergencies back in Austin. Maybe, even, a scene between all of them or at least between Grace and Carlos - IMAGINE THEM BONDING OVER MISSING THEIR MEN, IT PRACTICALLY WRITES ITSELF (if this doesn’t happen, I’m definitely writing the scene anyway, watch me)

(To end this on a more positive note, I am so beyond excited that we’re getting Carlos’s backstory this season. Whether it’s a “Begins” episode or just something that comes up throughout the episodes, I am here for it! Even if it goes against all of my headcanons, I’m so fucking happy that Rafa is getting a chance to explore his character more. He is so damn talented, and it’s what he deserves.)

AND AS A FINAL THING: I can tell you right now, I have never, for one moment of my life, wanted “Buddie” and Tarlos to interact with one another, especially not so that Tarlos could be used to validate a fan ship. I have seen some truly vile comments about Tarlos from Buddie shippers (not really on Tumblr, but elsewhere) and I really would prefer if they have nothing to do with each other ever. (And yes, if you’re a person who says “Tarlos only exists so that the writers don’t have to make Buddie canon,” you are homophobic and not an ally. Don’t invalidate actual queer representation/characters, ONE OF WHOM IS PLAYED BY AN OUT GAY ACTOR, just because the writers won’t make your perceived ship happen - that’s disgusting and I do take offense to it.)

Well, I can’t give you an absolute answer because we don’t know what’s going to happen but I can tell you some stuff I’ve been reading about this. A few months ago, an anon sent me some ‘spoilers’ about Spider-Man 3, and because one of those ‘spoilers’ had something to do with irondad, I became obsessed lmao I thought I was done with the MCU but anything with irondad on it is instantly everything to me. So I took one for the team and actually went back to Reddit to see if I could find something about it.

IF SOMEONE DOESN’T WANT TO READ ANYTHING RELATED TO SPIDERMAN 3 PLEASE STOP READING NOW. I’m going to tag this as spoilers too.

Here are some possible reasons you’re reading that: take this with a grain of salt, this could only be rumors and nothing official has been confirmed.

1. Tom Holland gave an interview about Spider-Man 3 when he regained his position in the MCU, he said the story was going to be insane. He also said that the movie was going to very special and different from the first two. And when asked about Peter’s relationship with Michelle, he said this: “Zendaya will definitely be [with Spider-Man 3]. However, for the relationship between Peter and MJ, I’m not sure what that would look like.”

2. Apparently, the studio wants to bring the real ‘MJ’ into the MCU. One of the sources that gave out the info about the She-Hulk said it on Reddit and other platforms. Even if they were right about the She-Hulk, let’s take this with a grain of salt. As we know, Zendaya is paying homage to a different MJ by playing the character ‘Michelle Jones’. But now, they want to bring the real MJ into the movies. I don’t know why they do this. It’s kinda annoying how they keep changing his love interest in every movie but from what I understood, after hours of endless torture on Reddit, it seems like one of the many first Spider-Man 3 scripts has a special MJ in it. It’s like they have an early draft of the script and they created a more traditional Mary Jane Watson, just like in the comics. And I also got that they want Michelle to be Spider-Woman, just not with Peter Parker. They want her to a hero but not as Peter’s partner. With this, they’re basically saying that they don’t want Zendaya’s character to be the love interest forever, they want to sculpt her character into something more solid. They want to give her a storyline on her own, this is probably why we don’t know almost anything about the character.

Kevin Feige said SM3 is about Peter. ‘It’s all Peter focused and Peter based’. This is probably the reason they’re speculating because the MCU wants to focus more on Peter’s growth as a superhero and his story than his romantic one. Apparently, this is Peter ‘out of Tony’s shadow’ (rolling my eyes to the moon and back ) and ‘out of the Avenger’s shadow’, (when was he ever???) he’s going to face challenges that are not Avengers related. In other words, spider-man origin villains. This is basically Marvel hearing the dudebros’ complaints about Peter not being his own superhero (iron man jr crap, rolling my eyes again), so now they’re giving him his original villains, taking him out of the Avengers business and giving him a redhead just like they wanted.

Some sites are dumb af and think Tom and Zendaya actually dated, and they believe this is the reason they don’t want to be love interests in the movie. This is by far, the most ridiculous one I’ve ever read.

My opinion:

If they go for the love triangle crap. I swear. No. I don’t ship spideychelle but god, I hate love-triangles, it’s the worst thing a franchise/movie can do to their characters. Ever heard of The Vampire Diaries??

I do want the irondad spoilers to be true tho because I miss them so much but I don’t know. I just really want some of those spoilers about Tony to be real. I really don’t care about the other rumors because they’re pretty obvious, something about Mysterio surviving, the Vulture returning, spidey villains and Norman Osborn appearing. I do want the one about Liz Allan returning. Laura deserves to be in the franchise. Also, the supposed title is so ridiculous, drop the ‘home’ already lmao.

At first, I thought they were joking because dudebros on Reddit are the most annoying creatures you’re ever going to meet in your life lmao trust me. I’ve dealt with many of them and god, I’d rather eat soap. And don’t even get me started with 4chan. But some dude that gave info about the wandavision show scared me because he was right about some things but again, nothing has been confirmed yet. And apparently many sites have been talking about it. Now, these sites are not reliable so again, take it with a grain of salt:

Superman & Lois Episode 4 Review: Haywire

Superman and Lois Episode 4

One of the most tired arguments in comics is about whether or not Superman is too powerful to tell good stories with. The plethora of exceptional, meaningful, moving Superman stories out there should put that argument to bed for good, but if they haven’t, feel free to direct anyone making it to “Haywire,” the fourth episode of what’s shaping up to be one of the best Superman arcs ever.

To my mind, the key Superman conflict has nothing to do with his power level and everything to do with the fact that he can’t be everywhere at once. He is a man who wants to help everyone, but has to prioritize where he can be and how much time he can stay there, and those choices all have consequences. That’s basically the thesis statement of this episode: Clark is being pulled in a thousand different directions at once, with his father-in-law climbing on his back about not being seen enough in Metropolis; an Intergang prisoner transfer going down; Morgan Edge about to close the deal on a mine outside of Smallville and Lois trying to run headfirst into Edge; and the boys trying to navigate school and also one of their classmates developing super speed.

But the thing that makes this episode, and the show as a whole, such a good Superman story isn’t necessarily the content of the story. It’s the storytelling, too. Superman & Lois excels at showing and telling. It weaves the three storylines – Clark, Lois and the kids – in and out, contrasting points against each other by bouncing from scene to scene to heighten the point. There are two spots this week where this is really well done.

The first is about midway through the episode. Lois’ big Morgan Edge expose in the Gazette has been spiked by a lawsuit threat – turns out Lois, a star reporter at a major metropolitan newspaper, had a noncompete WHODATHUNK (note: see the mailbag for who indeed thunk). So she pushed it off on Clark, who, as a well known mediocrity, had no such legal conflict, and was planning to bring up the issue in the big town meeting where Smallville was voting on granting Edge’s Intercorp mining rights to the party spot from the first episode.

Meanwhile, the Department of Defense was moving a super-prisoner out of town because Superman’s lack of presence in town was making the authorities skittish about keeping him in town. And at the same time, Sam Lane was giving the kids a hard time about being too needy now that they know their dad was Superman, because the rest of the world needed him more.

Of course, nothing works out right. Superman takes way too long on a wild goose chase, so Edge wins the town vote nearly unanimously, while the stuff with Jordan and Jon takes some time to blow up.

The performances really carry this sequence over. Hoechlin’s Clark agonizes over missing the vote and practically begs Tulloch’s Lois to be mad at him, and their argument is so natural and honest feeling that it’s immediately relatable.

Later, when the family finds out what Sam said to the kids, there’s an argument in the farmhouse that is also immediately recognizable and yet perfectly performed. Clark is pissed at Sam, but Superman’s anger is so often played as some world-ending threat, with glowing red eyes and menacing body language, yet here Hoechlin plays it completely straight – as an angry dad dealing with a shitty in-law. I’m sure we’re going to keep talking about this as the show goes along, but the amount of acting Hoechlin and Tulloch do with only their body language, and the way it conveys exactly who Superman and Lois are both alone and in relation to each other is a HUGE part of the mastery of this show.

The only problem I have with the episode is how it’s all a path to Sam’s radicalization into creating Project 7734. This is pretty BS for a couple of reasons: first, there’s no way the shady-ass government doesn’t already have a similar contingency plan (or 6) for dealing with a rogue Superman; and second, I know the episode is all about what a terrible parent he is, but I really can’t wrap my head around turning on Superman because he’s spending too much time with your grandkids. Maybe that’s what makes Sam a villain, but it’s also what makes this Superman the best he’s been so far in an already great show.

Metropolis Mailbag

Thaddeus Killgrave is a weaselly little shit created in the 1980s as a weapons designer for Intergang. The Killgrave we see on screen bears little resemblance to his comics version, where he was almost childlike in his stature. Instead, this bearded, bedraggled, mouth-noise-making character actually looks a lot like his creator, John Byrne.

Superman’s call sign when he’s working with the Department of Defense is “Bishop 6.” So…uh…does Sam Lane work for Checkmate? Checkmate is one of the various super-clandestine services operating in the DC Universe (along with Task Force X/Suicide Squad, Spyral, Kobra, Argus, the D.E.O., and on and on and on). Checkmate was first seen in Action Comics in the late 1980s and has counted among its members any number of famous DC heroes, from Deathstroke to Alan Scott and Mr. Terrific.

We have confirmation here that Morgan Edge is running a company called “Intercorp.” The Inter- prefix usually has connotations with Intergang (which is also present in the show), a gang of thugs organized by Bruno Mannheim, usually working for Morgan Edge in some capacity, and all functioning as a subsidiary of Apokalips. Intergang was created by Jack Kirby when he first started on Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #133, recently reprinted in a gorgeous absolute edition which is worth every single penny.

Calling the mines “Shuster Mines” is a nice touch, especially when they get bought out by a big company and filled with Superman’s only weakness.

Speaking of callbacks to Grant Morrison’s run, Glenmorgan Square is likely named after Glen Glenmorgan, a minor throwaway villain from the very beginning of Morrison’s Action Comics.

It’s not really an easter egg or anything, but I want it to be known that when Lois walked into the local paper’s office, I texted someone else watching and said “she definitely has a noncompete.” I’m glad the show also remembered this so I could be proven correct.

X-Kryptonite is a deeeeeep cut. Supergirl originally created X-Kryptonite as an antidote for green k. But she made it wrong, and it ended up being able to give anyone powers who was exposed to it. Including her otherwise normal Earth cat, Streaky. Yes this was 1960, why do you ask?

Tag’s emerging powers are a lot of vague references all in one. The super healing and the fast movement are pretty clearly emerging speedster powers, but he doesn’t have any other characteristics of Flashes. Besides getting his powers from a mysterious energy discharge hitting a bunch of weird chemicals. That said, Sam was probably talking out of his ass when he blamed phosphorus for Tag’s powers, considering they were partying on top of a pile of power-giving crystals when it happened.

Sam also says Tag is being sent to a “special school” for kids with powers, which…it’s weirdly early to be introducing Titans Academy to the TV shows, isn’t it? That new feature of the Infinite Frontier DCU is the only school for gifted youngsters I can think of that would fit the bill, but sound off in the comments if you know what he’s talking about! God I hope it’s not HIVE…

interaction guide for leah!

leah overall is a very, very flexible muse, and while she’s mostly an uwu muse, she’s not always ( e.g. potty mouth, kind of aggressive/possessive with certain muses, has “kick your ass” energy even though she’s like 5′1 and cries over everything, is very lewd and can be very forward at times ). i tend to have a lot of fun with her because she’s so dimensional, but below are some good points of entry if you’re stuck or need inspiration!!

“are you finding everything alright?” — threads that take place at leah’s workplaces ( i.e. the university bookstore or delight, the adult store ); a great way to break the ice since shopping can allow for casual conversation, big or small! retail work can be very strange as well, so there’s a lot of room for some interesting scenarios that can leave a lasting impression for leah to remember your muse by in the future. not every interaction in the adult store has to be sexual or sexually charged, either, so feel free to have some fun with the setting!

college/university setting threads — being a university student that lives on campus in the dorms ( canonically, anyway; there’s always room for divergence! ), most of leah’s waking hours are spent doing something related to her classes or social events happening on campus. she’s usually not a big partier, but when surrounded by the right crowd, she can easily be roped right into wild parties. though she’s not the type to let herself get wasted; chances are, she’ll be the one taking care of your muse! college is full of possibilities when it comes to shenanigans, like some real wack ass shit can happen, so below are just a few general possibilities for plot ideas. studying abroad has also been my default way of sending leah out of the country, so if your muse has to be in a different country to make a storyline work, i gotchu! your muse:

takes the same classes as leah and befriends her because they sit next to her in class, are partnered up with her for an assignment, engage in group discussion with her regularly, ect. can also just be a brief meeting like an exchange of compliments ( “that’s such a cute top!” “thanks, your pencil bag is super cute, too!” )

is leah’s roommate ( plotting required since it’s canon that she lives alone!! but housing situations change frequently during college so it’s not a huge problem, just gotta work out the details )

is the teaching assistant for a class that leah is taking, so she come to them for help on assignments ( or vice versa: leah is the teaching assistant so she grades your muse’s assignments/tutors them )

a tutor in general that leah can turn to for help in exchange for cash or a different kind of payment ( food, advice, ect. this doesn’t have to be a dirty thing alksjdlkjsad )

met leah at a party and now the two of them are just party buddies or just always get into trouble whenever they hang out and party together

celebrity/idol + fangirl; city meets country; wealthy meets poor threads — oh my god okay so listen; i really enjoy the idea of “opposites attract” with leah. like the idea of meeting a muse who is a higher status than her socioeconomically, socially, or just comes from a different background than her ( hence city meets country since leah was born in an urban area, so interacting with a muse who comes from a small town would be the opposite of her ).

anyway, leah’s the type to be really into pop culture, so keeping up with celebrities, idols, youtubers, whatever would be a past time for her, and then meeting them in real life would make her lose her shit. being in a relationship of any kind with a celebrity would make her lose her shit, and considering she lives in los angeles, it’s possible to run into one for the sake of a plot.

socioeconomically, leah’s considered low-income, maybe lower middle class ( but considering how vast the “middle class” actually is, can we really say ). as such, she’s very conscious about how she spends her money, so meeting a muse who is very well off financially would be an interesting dynamic. she always jokes about being a sugar baby or like, being a trophy wife so she doesn’t have to work, but whether that’d actually happens depends on what happens when she meets a muse with the means to make that joke a reality.

anyway, leah teeters on the edge of being a gold digger but she probably won’t be. it’s just fun to pair her up with wealthy muses because they live such a vastly different lifestyle from her usually that she’s like “what”

sexcapade threads ( 18+ muns only ) -- leah is a very sex positive muse, and as such, a lot of her interactions can be smutty. taking into account her sexuality, hook-up culture on a college campus, and her freedom away from her parents, quite a few plots ( and their variations ) can happen rather easily. it’s important to note, though, that i prefer to write smut threads that either have some sort of plot to them or can lead to further development in a relationship. writing smut can get boring real quick if nothing new is introduced, but i’m okay with plotting out intimacy privately! also, sex does not always equal romance, so romantic feelings may not always develop between leah and your muse. if you are interested in shipping our muses romantically, please let me know! otherwise, i’ll assume they’re just in a casual type of relationship.

angel verse — this verse is probably one of leah’s most used verses, and important details about this verse can be found here, here, and here! i highly suggest you read these posts bc a lot of her mannerisms hinges on what’s laid out in these posts, and of course you’re always welcome to ask questions if you have any!! angel verse is a good place to begin if your muse is also another supernatural creature, and considering angel leah has no qualms about visiting other realms like hell, it’s very possible for her to meet your muse one way or another.

influencer/idol/celebrity verse — considering how big on social media leah is in terms of her constant engagement with it, plots that involve her being an influencer are right up her alley, and collaborations with other muses who fit into this category are a great way for leah to interact with them! while i don’t have an official verse up for this category yet as of 04/06/21, leah’s very flexible when it comes to what she can do if she gained social media status, but what she’d most likely do involves modeling, acting, and being on youtube or streaming.

high school verse — high school leah is very different from main verse/college leah in the sense that she’s a lot more reserved and is a lot more closeted about her sexuality. she’s still very enjoyable to interact with, but what sets high school leah apart from canon leah the most is that there’s a more prominent struggle and confusion regarding her spiritual views, and dating her in high school is almost like a chore since your muse will have to jump through hoops in order to date her if that’s something they want to do. in high school verse, leah canonically only has one boyfriend in her senior ( final ) year, but as always, i welcome divergence. your muse is even welcome to be her high school boyfriend if we plot things out ( spoiler: her high school boyfriend was a real asshole ). high school shenanigans are definitely more tame than college shenanigans, but this verse will be good for slice of life plots ( hanging out after school, doing projects together, decorating for the school dance, prom date, applying to college, ect. )

miscellaneous plots — finally, here are some classic plots that i always love with leah. they don’t really fit into the other categories, but these are plots i don’t mind doing over and over and over again because they’re never always the same each time i write them, and these plots make leah happy too :’)

mom friend/big sister leah bc oh my god i love her with kids so much, but also she’s incredibly doting towards close friends she cares a lot about so yeah call her the mom friend™

in the same vein, pls hire her to be your main babysitter. she’d appreciate it so much bc college is so expensive

beach threads!! aquarium threads!! ocean threads!! pool threads!! leah enjoys water and ocean life, so any thread where these elements are involved really get her going. i don’t care how often she’s been to the aquarium or beach, she’ll go again.

Draco Malfoy has been missing for three years. Harry is assigned the cold case and finds himself slowly falling in love with the memories he collects.

This fic is so beautiful it will break your heart without you even knowing it and you will be left aching for days. It will forever be my favorite fic and it is the most beautiful fic I have ever read—it is the one that brought me into Drarry when I didn’t even ship them! The loneliness is so well captured, the scenes so beautifully described, and both the suspense and the emotional storylines are so well crafted. td;lr: please go read this stunningly beautiful fic I promise you won’t be disappointed

The Lip-Lock Jinx by cassisluna

It's a jinx that renders the victim mute, unless he/she serves the purpose of the jinx and kisses the person that they desire. It's just Harry's luck that he's in love with Draco. HPDM, one-shot, eighth year.

Already fussed over it once but here we are again! Eighth-year fic, Draco is quieter but still witty, Harry is clumsy in his affections, Ginny is brilliant. It’s so soft you will place your hand on your chest and sigh, you will smile helplessly because your heart is brimming with softness. A dose of this fic on a bad day and I promise you will feel just the bit better.

Stop All the Clocks (This Is the Last Time I’m Leaving Without You) by firethesound

Living with Draco was difficult; living without him is unbearable. But if there’s one thing Harry learned from the war, it’s that even when one life ends, the rest of the world goes right on living.

Warning: MCD, it is—oh dear it is the angstiest fic I have ever read. It tore my heart out of my chest and it is so, so good. The writing is beautiful, I love the way Draco and Harry’s relationship progressed, I adore their characterization, how they bicker and care. Harry’s road to recovery is rocky and winding but it is,, so genuine. (I also adore the structure of this fic lol, the two timelines are weaved together seamlessly and it just fascinated me!) This fic will leave the most beautiful scar in your heart but really, if you can afford it, it is so worth it.

Grounds for Divorce by tepre

Malfoy finds a coin. Harry finds a letter.

A story about histories, a story about families. A story about a lemon tree somewhere in Upper Egypt.

This is, like, the slowest slow burn of all slow burns. It’s a bond fic, as you will discover pretty soon into the story—but it proceeds so differently than I ever expected. It is messy, beautiful, winding, Harry and Draco proceed to take the same freakin path two thousand times without ever reaching the destination—but it’s all good, and you see the beauty in the messiness because that is how life is. And when they finally get themselves together it’s just, so sweet you can’t stop smiling and you can feel their happiness, so close to your heart. It’s a slow journey and you have to take it with them if you want to see it bear fruit, and you realize in the end it doesn’t matter how winding the paths are, because you were always going to reach that place. And stay. Like I lie in bed at one a.m. and I think about how Draco and Harry are sleeping together in Grimmauld and I wanna tear up. The prose is beautiful, and messy like the story itself, and I just adore the way everything is described, so authentic, and the way the start of the end is the beginning (no spoilers yes?) Go read it and afterwards sit at the same place for twenty minutes in complete awe and content

There are many controversial topics, and they were explored with honesty: nothing is shunned, nothing is avoided, there are many voices that challenge what you really think. And these are the best kind of fics, really. I especially love the characterization of Luna, because it is so difficult to get her right—but she is, wonderfully candid in her whimsical way, tripping you over in your own thought. I love Draco and Harry’s story as well, the misunderstanding and the miscommunication—the confrontation, a reminder for a lot of us that being upfront and honest is so so important. The way Draco is neither redeemed nor un-redeemed yet trying in his own way is also very dear to me.

Sharing Different Heartbeats and Let Them Wash Off in the Rain by talithan

Before Harry ever saw Draco’s room, before they ever shared a greasy order of chips or long-held secrets, before Draco’s boss ever tried to chat up Harry, they hadn’t even exchanged mobile numbers. To be fair, Draco didn’t have a mobile then.

It’s Harry’s first time in New York City, and he is determined to have a good time. How Draco Malfoy figures into this remains to be seen.

I recently discovered them and just, ahhh. Completely adore them! They are not related, just by the same author. Both are so gentle and it feels as if nothing really important is happening—and nothing is—but the feelings are there all the same, gentle too. It’s like sitting by the window listening to soft rain. The sky is grey, the lights are dim, and you’re not really thinking about anything... just listening to the rain falling...

(It’s a gentle story, I love the ending and the description of Harry’s depression just feels really genuine)

... and it’s stunning similarities with Sherlock BBC

MONSTERS, INC is a computer-animated comedy from 2001, produced by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. A modern fairytale, so to speak. I stumbled across this movie by accident while researching the ‘221b door’ tag on my blog and found an old tweet from Arwel Wyn Jones (x) posted during the filming of Series Four. Watching the movie turned out to be quite the eye-opener. :)

It’s not so much the plot of that movie but rather certain images which remind me strongly of Sherlock BBC. A lot of images, to be precise, but also some dialogues and one distinct voice. Watching MONSTERS, INC really left me speechless at times.

The ‘monster post’ is waiting below the cut for the fearless …. :))))

For anyone who hasn’t seen the movie: MONSTERS, INC mostly plays in Monstropolis, a city in a parallel universe. The only places where the monster- and the human-world can connect, are the closet doors in children’s beedrooms. Here skilled monsters - the ‘scarers’ - appear at night to harvest the screams of terrified kids. Just like in the human world, the majority of the monsters aren’t evil, nor mean they any harm to the children. Monsters are actually more scared of human kids than the kids are of them. The harvested screams are badly needed because they provide the energy which is necessary to power the monster’s world. And because children are constantly becoming less easily scared, the screams decrase more and more, which means that an energie krisis threatens.

Initially the storyline for MONSTERS, INC had been a different one though:

Pete Docter's (director and writer) original idea revolved around a 30-year old man dealing with monsters, which he drew in a book as a child, coming back to bother him as an adult. Each monster represented a fear he had and conquering those fears caused the monsters to eventually disappear. (X)

The logo of MONSTERS, INC, the powerstation where screams are harvested to light the Monster’s world, combines the symbol of the eye and the letter M. I simply can’t help unsee a certain similarity with the logo for TheGameIsNow. That’s quite thought provoking, to say the least.

The two leading characters in the monster world are scarer James P. "Sulley" Sullivan and his best friend and roommate Mike Wazowski, who is also his assistant at work. A big blue, fluffy guy wearing horns and a short, one-eyed, green guy who prefers to sit in a green egg-chair …. a bit similar to the one from the stagnight scene inTSOT.

Sulley holds the top position among all the scarers of Monstropolis. With military-like training Mike takes care that his friend stays in best form.

Hey! Less talk, more pain, marshmallow boy! Feel the burn! You call yourself a monster?

The most successful scarers are celebrated like stars. Everyone knows them. They can’t go anywhere without being recognized and asked for autographs. And when they enter their company it looks like a hero parade.

Future scarers have to undergo a special training in a high-tec simulation room. Here they are taught everything of importance, including the art of scaring children most efficiently in order to get the perfect scream.

Listen to the lady in front of the surveillance screens who teaches screaming (at 01.40) …. but beware … she sounds an awful lot like Eurus Holmes ….

And this is the big boss, the chairman of MONSTERS, INC … Mr. Waternoose. He is very proud of his job, which has been passed down through his family for three generations. He acts as Sulley’s mentor and holds great faith in him as a scarer. Additionally …. he reminds me very much of Mycroft in TAB.

The monsters believe that harvesting screams is enormously dangerous, because children are deemed to be toxic, that their touch could kill them. Agents of a special task force - the Child Detection Agency - are on constant alert to neutralize any contamination with objects belonging to the human world.

As soon as anything suspicious has been detected, the ‘big bad bouncy red alert’ goes off, cameras zoom in and then CDA agents enter right through the skylights to take care of the problem. Like AGRA in Tiblisi , really! I couldn’t help a yelp watching this little scene below ….

And then ..... shaved by AGRA … sorry, by CDA, of course …. :))))

The day comes, however, when the unimaginable happens and a human child enters the monster world. And Sulley, the most famous scarer of all, is almost scared to death. I’m really tempted to call this an ‘Eurus-efffect’ ...

Thankfully, Sulley also has a heart of pure gold. He overcomes his fear - a little bit - and takes the human child home. His partner Mike is definitely not amused but helps anyway. Courageously, the friends prepare for the worst case scenario ...

Sulley, the Viking, with shield and horned helm and Mike, who seems to have ransacked the kitchen Cabinet instead. The little ‘killer-girl’ though is completely unimpressed ...

The evening starts rather chaotic, which results in some remarkable accidents … I guess I know now where the idea of shoving a big pack of cigarettes into Sherlock’s mouth comes from …. and maybe Sherlock’s spraying attack on the CIA agent in ASIB as well.

Finally the situation calms down. Sulley beginns to supect that human kids might not be toxic after all. The little girl has a real crush on the fluffy, blue monster. She believes Sulley is a big cat and starts calling him ‘Kitty’. Looks like ‘killer girl’ is a cat lover. :) Against Mike’s advice, Sulley decides to give the girl a name as well. He settles for ‘Boo’ because she likes nothing more than to scare him.

And Boo likes to draw …. Spoiler: Boo doesn’t burn down the house.

Eventually Boo gets tired. A trace of goodies (not breadcrumbs) leads the little girl to bed.

By the way: The book based on the film gives Boo's "real" name as Mary Gibbs, the name of her voice actress. (x)

The architecture of Mike’s and Sulley’s flat … the wide arch in the living room and in Sulley’s bedroom (Mike’s bedroom is never shown) … instantly reminded me of the very similar structure chosen for the 221b Baker Street livingroom set in PILOT.

What would any fairytale be without a good old-fashioned villain. In this case it’s a villain who looks suspiciously like a Chinese dragon. And naturally, where there is a dragon there needs to be a dragon slayer as well.

Randall, the dragon-like monster is one of the most wicked characters in Monstropolis. He works as scarer but holds only the second place on the company’s success-list behind Sulley. Randall’s envy is huge. He is driven by his desire to displace his opponent from the top of the list. One can safely say that ‘murderous jealousy’ is a good description of Randall’s motivation. But his plan to capture the all-time scare record, only scratches the surface of his sinister agenda.

But before it comes to the ‘slaying’, the nasty reptile tries to torture Mike, to find out where the missing human child is hiding.

Randall: SAY HELLO TO THE SCREAM EXTRACTOR! (Jim in TAB: Well, say hello to the virus.)

This is what Randall has created in a secret lab to prevent the looming energy crisis of his world … a machine to harvest the screams of children by force and not through the acting skills of trained scarers. Mike’s unimpressed answer to this realisation:

Mike: WELL, SOMEBODY'S CERTAINLY BEEN A BUSY BEE (Mycroft in TEH: You have been busy, haven’t you? Quite the busy little bee.)

That’s not a joke … and the way down to the secret lab looks strikingly familiar as well ...

Needless to say that Sulley arrives just in time to rescue his friend … but that’s not the end of the story and also not the end of similarities with Sherlock BBC.

Some nice little images in-between: a fish mobile from Boo’s bedroom in which Sulley gets tangled up in, a toy train, a toy ship and a toy plane from the high-tech simulation room. Rater similar items can be detected in Sherlock BBC as well (TST, MHR and TFP). Especially the plane reminds me of the one Eurus’ plays with near the brook.

More familiar images:

Mike’s love interest is a lady with hissing snakes for hairs, who works as receptionist in their company ….

At one point the hero’s life is threatened by a deep fall, caused by his opponent, Randall, the nasty ‘dragon’.

Seeing Sulley’s life threatened, Boo overcomes her fear of the reptile-like monster. She attacks him violently. This gives Sulley the time he needs to get out of the critical situation.

And WOW!!! What changeable creature this villain is ……. even Jim ‘I’m so changeable’ Moriarty would be inmpressed.

Randall’s exceptional talent for any kind of masquerade is also demonstrated in a little scene involving a portrait of the company’s chairman, Mr. Waternoose.

The face of a chairman, covered by something related to a dragon … this reminds me instantly of TBB and Sir William, the former chairman of the bank, whose face had been covered with the yellow spray-paint, applied by a member of the Yellow Dragon Circus.

To their dismay, Sulley and Mike discover that Randall isn’t just a jealous colleague. What is far worse, the changeable villain doesn’t work alone. His partner in cirme turns out to be none other than Mr. Waternoose, the big boss of the company. The two of them intend to use Boo for their experiments with the scream extractor, while Sulley and Mike get banished from Monstropolis and are sent into exile .. to the Himalayas. No return expected.

There is no plane involved as in Sherlock’s case, but strictly speaking, the way in which the ‘sending into exile’ happens, can indeed be seen as a variation of ‘flyihg’ …

Snow falls at the place where they land, somewhere in the Himalayan mountains.

While the Himalayas, more precisely Tibet, is closely connected to Sherlock’s hiatus after Reichenbach, the falling snow can also be found in TAB, the place Sherlock finds himself in, as a result of his ‘going into exile’ at the end of HLV … London in the winter 1895.

And it doesn’t take long before the dark shadow of a scary creature falls over them … a seemingly monstrous creature which is covered all over in ‘bridal white’ fur ….

May I introduce you to …. Yeti, the ABOMINABLE snowman!

"ABOMINABLE"! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? DO I LOOK ABOMINABLE TO YOU? WHY CAN'T THEY CALL ME THE ADORABLE SNOWMAN OR...OR THE AGREEABLE SNOWMAN, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD? I'M A NICE GUY.

He is really a very nice guy and helps Sulley and Mike to get back where they came from and where they are badly needed by Boo. Randall is not amused but this time it is him who looses the game.

Yeti’s nickname was inspired by the Abominable Snowman from the 1964 animated special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (X). Knowing this, one could view that bridal-white character also as a sort of Christmas connection. :))))

And have I mentioned those horns?

Some more lovely images: a shot from the inside out of a small box (without a severed head in it though), no fire-extinguisher but it looks like one, silhouettes behind glass, safety helmets (X) and ... flickering screens ….

At the story’s finale, the simulation room from the beginning - a bedroom on a stage with a ‘fake’ victim lying in it and with a moving wall - I’m not kidding - becomes the ‘confession room’ for the main culprit. And of course, every word of his confession gets recorded. Somehow this reminds me strongly of another scene … another film … what was it again? It’s on the tip of my tongue ….

It turns out that chairman Waternoose had already been under close observation by CDA undercover agent 001 - code name Roz (not AMO). An elderly, quite steely lady, who turns out to be his superior. Waternoose gets arrested and Sulley becomes the new chairman of MONSTERS, INC.

Now the time has come for Boo to return to the human world. Sulley takes the little girl back through the closet door into her room, where they part after a big good-bye hug.

Then the closet door which leads to her bedroom gets shredded, to prevent any future contact. But Boo’s short visit to the monster world had a huge impact. It proved that a child's laugh has ten times the power of a child's scream. The energy crisis of Monstropolis is solved. From now on laughter is harvested instead of screams and the power generated this way, is enormous. Mike turns out to be best harvester for laughs ever.

Because Mike knows how much Sulley misses the little human girl, he collects and secretly reassembles the pieces of Boo's shredded door so that it can be activated again.

The End

The song "If I Didn't Have You" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Mike: ♪ But I must admit it. Big guy, you always come through. I wouldn't have nothin' if I didn't have you. ♪ Mike and Sulley: ♪ You and me together. That's how it always should be. One without the other don't mean nothin' to me. Nothin' to me. ♪

Sulley: ♪ I don't have to say it. 'Cause we both know it's true.♪ Both: ♪ I wouldn't have nothin' if I didn't have... I wouldn't have nothin' if I didn't have... I wouldn't have nothin' if I didn't have you. ♪ Mike: ♪ You! You! A-E-I-O... That means you. Yeah. ♪

And doesn’t this almost sound like …. ‘just the two of us against the rest of the world’?

Hopefully you enjoyed the rather long ride. I can highly recommend this movie to anyone. It’s so much more fun watching it with ones own eyes than just reading a summary. This said, I leave you now to your own deductions. Thanks for reading that far. :)

Okay TROS thoughts...here we go. I’m putting them all below the cut in case somehow you’ve avoided spoilers

so general thoughts...i didnt hate it nearly as much as i thought i would so thats pleasant but im gonna break it down more

things i liked:

Adam Driver. just Adam. Fucking. Driver my dudes. This is like a backhanded compliment because JJ is so fucking lucky Adam was cast because the emotional depth of the film rested literally all on his shoulders for me. I only felt the weight if he was acting in a scene.

I’ll admit im biased but I did adore the interaction between Finn and Poe. Their bickering amused me and the tenderness between them was wonderful...I think Oscar played Poe a bit jealous as well which i liked.

the Reylo scenes to me where beautiful. Ben never lied to her, she tried to deny it but she knew he never did. I loved that he was kinda guiding her, protecting her, loving her, and antagonizing her all at once. I loved how soft their kiss was, their smiles are literally the light of my life. Rey’s face when she healed him. Ben just staring at her as she tells him she did want to take his hand...just chef’s kiss

I loved the saber fights. Ben’s fight at the beginning was hot as fuck...and his fight as newly redeemed Ben Solo was even hotter somehow.

I enjoyed the fight scenes between ben and rey! how often ben just let her walk away, and despite that one scene which i will mention below...i like i even tho rey was rather aggressive idk...it didnt really feel like she was trying to hurt him much either? i just think they had a lot of chances to kill each other and didnt take it...so i like that

i knew she was looking at ben in that clip i knew it...she only makes that soft face at him

I always enjoy stupid ass C3PO jokes for some dumbass reason

Han and Ben’s scene was heartbreaking and beautiful. Again tho JJ is fucking lucky to cast Adam cause recycling dialogue from TFA wouldnt have worked at all had Adam not been so fucking amazing

the save chewie hall blaster scene was fun

i liked how fucking dramatic children ben and rey were with that damn ship lol...no im gonna force pull it...no im gonna...what dorks

while i didnt like the entire way the force bond was used i did enjoy seeing it still strong and growing

confirming canon soulmate reylo was a highlight

ben’s hair looked bomb

finn’s outfit was cool

Jannah was beautiful (please correct me if i misspell her name)

dark rey was glorious tho

that new little droid is literally me so i adore it

that sith cave thing was really fucking cool looking

the visuals of the film were most of the time stunning

sooooo...now to what i didn’t like:

I think this first one is the most obvious for those who know me but...Ben’s death just feels so utterly useless to me. especially when they gave him a metaphorical death earlier in the film. i feel extremely hurt and betrayed. Disney has gone out of their way to make us sympathize with Ben Solo. They’ve revealed more and more of his past...how alone he was, the abuse he suffered from snoke and palpatine. just fuck...they just kill him...the moment he realizes he’s free and loved they end his life....literally WHAT THE FUCK. it’s a chicken shit way out of a redemption arc honestly. Not letting u just breath after his death was also so horrible. We barely got to see Rey mourn, we got a split second of it then it jumped to another scene...another second of her looking sadly at her sabor to have the moment interrupted

tag on to above but...they didnt have him as a force ghost cause Disney is intentionally keeping where he is ambiguous so they can sell more shit which pisses me off so much

thats not how the force works

there couldnt have been that many sith could there??? cause like there can only be 2 at one time....fucking rule of 2 so how the hell were there that many

palps being like...see i actually want you to kill me...is ridiculous

rey palpatine is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard. Rey being a no one from no where was such an amazing thing. Just anyone can be strong in the force...you dont need royal blood to make you worth something....then they just retcon that??? the fuck I MEAN THE FUCK.

Finn does nothing but worry about Rey the whole film. I know folks dont like his storyline in TLJ and while i understand that and do think it could have been written better i still adore it because Finn grew. He grew from just caring about a small group of people to caring about an idea to caring about something bigger than him. I didnt see any growth in his character in this film. His heroics were beautiful to see and I enjoyed seeing his heart but that was John’s acting more than the writing it think.

ive wanted force sensitive finn for a while but didnt feel right

why the fuck have finn want to tell rey something but never do...ugh i hate storytelling like that

they never explained how palps is back...he just is

rey stabbing ben felt odd to me. i loved the moment when she healed him, and i know technically her anger and darkside was coming out and she acted on instinct...nevermind that even before leia called out to him ben coudnt follow thru with the killing blow.

....i’m sure i’ll think of more as i get angrier

anyways over all...id be lying if moments didnt make me laugh or smile...if i didn’t feel a sense of nostalgia and enjoyment for 80% of this movie. The thing is that even with so much of it being enjoyable to me it still felt void. An action movie, with new characters, a confusing plot and very minimal emotional depth.

The emotion hinged soooo much on Adam or me. The biggest reason for that aside from that fact that Ben Solo is one of my all time favorite characters, is that the things Rey is dealing with in the film are directly related to her being a palpatine...and i HATE THAT. Like straight up wanna fling it into the sun.

Rey never needed to be related to a force royal bloodline. She should have been allowed to remain strong because she was just strong. Kylo’s equal in every way, not because she was the granddaughter of a sith which btw you can’t inherit force powers. Retconing something so touching and unique from TLJ was just...fucking idiotic. All to please the loud but small misogynistic fandom that thought a woman couldnt be that strong on her own so she must be related to someone

The biggest thing....tho is killing Ben. it felt so unnecessary and just...i feel so betrayed. The interviews leading up to the film got my hopes up that i was worried for nothing. I always thought they’d kill him, because cinema seems to not know what to do with characters has tragic as him without just killing him in the end. we already got a redemption = death plotline in this franchise...why couldnt we get a redemption = life instead??? My friend who doesnt even like sw that much...tros was actually the 2nd sw fim she’s ever seen...thought it was unnecessary as well and agrees with me a lot about my feelings despite not having the same intense emotional attachment to him as me. She for a moment thought they’d be together at the end but nope. Its just...pointless to me now, the sacrifices han, luke, and leia made to reach Ben are for nothing. Their deaths...pointless...Ben means so fucking much to me. I’ve never felt such an intense emotional bond with a character before so im just hurting so fucking much right now.

Rey taking the name Skywalker isnt hopeful or cute its a slap in the face honestly...and it’s just weird!

The last Skywalker died loved and held by the woman he loved and that is beautiful to me. He died happy and a hero thats a balm at least...but to not let him be the one to kill palpatine...after everything EVERYTHING he put him and his family thru was another just fuck...i wanted justice for him and he just got thrown away

Ultimately...Ben and Rey are soulmates and their force bond was severed. Palpatine didnt take that from them because he couldnt have...again not how the force works....but JJ used that bond to be a battery???? the fuck...but ultimately hes forcing Rey to live the rest of her days with a gaping wound in her soul. a wound unable to be filled and will be with her for the rest of her life...thats so fucking tragic to me. you give rey someone who is her equal, who understands her, and you take him from her and force her to be alone for the rest of her life?? and we are supposed to not see that as a tragedy? Her being fineishness at the end of the film seemed like direction from either the writing or in the moment, but just further proves he didnt bother to even understand the lore he was using. Force bonds were considered i quess legends in the current SW canon but Rian brought it back...so it’s back. and well

Stranger Things Season 3

*SPOILERS* I tagged it but just in case. Enter at your own risk. You’ve been warned.

So... I uh... have lots of feelings I’m still processing about this season and where better to rant about them than on this hellsite we call home. I’ve been waiting to log on here only bc it’s still so fresh and I’m STILL reeling from the emotionally intense episode 8.

Here goes nothing.

Ok, so first off, I loved this season so much. As a fan from day one, I felt like this was an amazing season— well worth the long ass wait. I loved the character development we had with the kids and having it set in summer was a nice change of pace. I’m admittedly not a Jopper shipper but I really enjoyed seeing their friendship blossom and by the end of it I was ok with them being together. Max and Lucas are by far my favorite couple although Mike and Eleven are just too precious for this world. The young summer love vibes were so nostalgic. Can we take a moment to talk about Dustin and Suzie singing The Neverending Story?? My whole dead ass heart bursted at the seams. Will destroying Castle Byers was so hard to watch. Just seeing the kids navigate through the process of growing up and leaving childhood was bittersweet.

Now on to the ladies. Karen Wheeler has to be one of my favorites. She’s just such a damn good mother and the fact that she did the right thing instead of cheat on Ted speaks volumes about her character. Karen’s love and loyalty for her family runs deep and you can’t tell me otherwise. I loved her talk with Nancy the most and how pivotal it was to Nancy’s storyline in this season. I can’t tell you how angry I got at my tv every time I saw all that gross ass toxic workplace misogyny go down. But Nancy said fuck that and went with her gut and she was right. So another thing, probably my favorite thing, this season was Max and Eleven’s friendship! Give me all the healthy supportive female friendships you got, Duffers. The mall montage was everything and more. Just seeing El come into her own, not as Hopper’s daughter or Mike’s gf, but as her own individual was beautiful. Joyce tho! She was fresh out of fucks this season and I was loving it. She kicked so much ass and I’m really glad we got the strong and assertive depiction we deserved. Also umm Robin! See, when the Russo’s said we’d get an lgbtq character in Marvel, I had envisioned this— take note boys, this is what inclusion looks like. They didn’t overly sexualize her identity and most importantly Steve continued to treat her the same because guess what? It’s normal.

Speaking of Steve, he continues to be a devoted mother of 6. We love Steve lol. Jonathan kinda lost me for a minute when he blew up on Nancy after they were fired. Miss me with that “you’re rich and I’m poor” sob story. Y’all are adults now and you’re still far more privileged than her and it shows. To be fair they were both right and wrong but I got a little heated when he threw that in her face. I still love emo Jonathan. I know a lot of people hate Billy but I still felt for him. The flashbacks to his childhood broke my heart and his death was as tragic and redeeming as they get. Honorable mentions to Alexei and Murray for making me laugh so hard this season.

Ok now that I ranted to absolutely no one about how I feel bc I don’t know what else to do about all these feelings, I’m going to talk Hopper.

Deep breath.

Ok. So I have always maintained that Hop is a son of a bitch, a total bastard piece of shit mess of a man. It’s why I love him so much. I mean what’s more relatable than that scene of him stress eating chips and salsa lol! The thing is, we’ve never seen him in the wild without some mission involved. He was really rough around the edges this season, at times deranged and almost always a complete asshole. I really feel like he was trying his best to parent a teen El. Parenthood in general is brutal, the learning curve is unforgiving and you almost always feel like you’re failing. Mix all that in with a man who is terrible at expressing his feelings and you get Dad Hopper. What I love most about him is how imperfect he is, how incredibly flawed and damaged he is. But underneath all that he’s has the biggest heart of all and if you’re lucky enough to get his love it’s forever and it’s unconditional. The feelings speech he wrote broke me, I was full on trembling ugly crying on the couch in 90 degree weather. It wasn’t cute. But my feelings for these characters are real. It’s funny how a show, movie, or story can do that too you.

Point is, I’m hella emotionally wrecked, it’s hot as balls outside and it’s cancer season. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that the Duffers need to hurry tf up and give us season 4 bc I just KNOW “the American” is my favorite piece of shit, fat ass Indiana cop.
