I think disliking jensen is fair considering what he has done in the past and not apologized for. It's not wrong to think that he is in some degrees the same person he was then because he hasn't done that much to change except get more quiet about it. I'm not sure it is fair to be mad at people for their dislike of him
no idc if ppl don't like him but i DO think the blatant twisting of words / situations and refusing to see the whole picture and consider context just to vilify him is not fair. like you Know those cons are full of rabid j///2 fans, many of which have crossed boundaries over the yrs and sent death threats to jensen's wife / family over destiel shit. of course he's going to be more careful / quiet in those situations. holding someone to their past actions of over a decade ago and refusing to let people grow and change their opinion is a horrible mentality to have. believing the worst in people is so toxic imo. people love to say actors are just some guys but then refuse to extend the same basic courtesy of what being "just some guy" means aka they are imperfect people. they will make mistakes, they will say the wrong things or stumble over their words. i think we all deserve to give people more grace in general. life is an learning process. lord knows i said stupid shit in 2012 and have changed and grown and become more informed on so many things.
also, when misha was being censored at creation cons and having to toe the party line with "open to interpretation" answers everyone was fine to look at the big picture and realize he was not able to speak freely abt destiel / the confession at those cons. but somehow they think jensen wouldn't have those same constraints placed on him??? the double standard is ridiculous.

Feeling very soft again thinking about how he just got back to work after being sick and the first thing he does is to come to my office and ask me to tell him all about what happened to me in the week that he couldn't be here. So I say something like "my supervisor had the audacity to criticise my paper despite saying that he hasn't even really read it yet" and I had been actually quite mad about that, but then he goes "Oh, but that's what you want, isn't it? Someone criticising your work, someone fighting back a bit?" And I stopped and felt my anger disappear instantly and I thought ... actually yeah, you're right, why are you right? Why was I even mad? Why do you know better what I want than I do?
#it's quite funny to me actually how he must have (correctly) drawn the conclusion that i like criticism because he and i are always fighting#like intellectually not on a personal level but a lot of the time we just question each other to our faces for like an hour and it's fun!#knowing him has been so helpful in preparing my talks because now i always wonder 'what will he criticise about this?' and go and improve i#also feeling kinda soft about how i said that a very cool researcher reached out to me after attending a talk of mine#because she thought my study was interesting and she had some thoughts about it that are actually helpful to me#and then i told him about it and he went 'but you made that point too! i remember! she's just rewording your words!'#which also had not occurred to me and so i said i might have but she put it more elegantly and in context but that it's still really helpfu#and he just looked at me like 'don't you dare give her credit for your ideas just because of her better wording'#i always feel like i'm not kind enough to him in return. like i'm nice but am i kind enough? can i ever repay him for his kindness?#what does it mean what does it all mean#ramblings

i dont think i made this clear in the prev post but WHAT I WAS GETTING AT WAS i think toby specifically wants players to get attached to ralsei and make choices playing into that so that the inevitable reveal of our distinction from kris and their own opinions and feelings and everything hits even harder by sort of slapping you in the face and being like HEY BUDDY. THEY DONT WANT THIS. and also a slap in the face to ralsei too who i again would like to say is parasocial asf with us and needs to go to video game therapy :heart:
