I feel like it is worthwhile to add that this goes for online spaces as well. This concept applies to people who are trying to engage with new fandoms, or perhaps make honest mistakes. Don't shut people down with "you don't belong here" or "you should know better" vibes. Welcome and encourage people.

Do not punish the behaviour you want to see

I mean, it seems pretty obvious when you put it like that, right?

But how many families, when an introvert sibling or child makes an effort to socialize,  snarkily say, “So, you’ve decided to join us”?

Or when someone does something they’ve had trouble doing, say, “Why can’t you do that all the time?” (Happened to me, too often.)

Or any sentence containing the word “finally”. 

If someone makes a step, a small step, in a direction you want to encourage, encourage it. Don’t complain about how it’s not enough. Don’t bring up previous stuff. Encourage it.

Because I swear to fucking god there is nothing more soul-killing, more motivation-crushing, than struggling to succeed and finding out that success and failure are both punished.

Thinking about Su Xiyan/Tianlang-jun/Shen Yuan again like a fool

I need more of them meeting as disciples, of Tianlang-jun being a freshly risen to power Demon Lord, his barely out of teenagerhood nephew trailing behind him.

Su Xiyan, broad shouldered and capable of walking around with a delighted Tianlang-jun on her shoulder. Of them coming across Shen Yuan, perhaps in the body of Shen Jiu or perhaps not.

Of Su Xiyan seeing him and Tianlang-jun interact and deciding then and there they are going to keep this little nerd.

Of the three of them going to plays, oral retellings, and bookstores. Su Xiyan teaching Shen Yuan to wield his sword better, Tianlang-jun stepping in to help demonstrate.

Shen Yuan meeting Zhuzhi-lang for the first time and immediately getting a soft spot for the shy but strongly opinionated young demon. I need him to exchange knowledge about demons and monsters with Zhuzhi-lang, I need Su Xiyan and Tianlang-jun to pull the pair apart as the sun starts to go down.

I need Su Xiyan to carry both of her nerd husbands on her shoulders actually.

Plot what's that?

It's totally not the Old Palace Master learning of both Shen Yuan and Tianlang-jun being around his head disciple. It's not Shen Yuan being called away on a mission, one with other disciples so Su Xiyan and Tianlang-jun can't come with him. It's not Su Xiyan being lured away like in canon.

It's not Tianlang-jun being alerted by a frantic disciple from Shen Yuan's sect, having not seen or heard from him in weeks. It's not Tianlang-jun truly using his power to search for both of his lovers (why can't he get into contact with Xiyan? She was talking about feeling odd recently, why isn't she answering? Please Yuan is missing too, Xiyan please he can't be alone again)

And it's definitely not The Old Palace Master raising a group of cultivators to lock Tianlang-jun away. Though, this time he knows something is wrong.

look, this is gonna sound real weird, but as a certified Old-ish Person who went through the whole emo hair phase of circa 2004-2009, there is one thing about Arcane that I can't get over.

I just watched Sonic 3 today and I have a lot to yap about, so:

1. For some strange reason, my mom, brother and I were the only ones in the movie theater, like- We were the only ones watching Sonic 3 (which I can’t complain bc I had the chance to let my internal Sonic nerd out)

2. I fucking cried with one of shadow’s lines,actually no, both me and my mom cried (Im not gonna said the line to avoid giving y’all spoilers) but all I can say is that I touched home to me.

3. The gay tension between eggman and agent stone was crazy

4. I went absolutely crazy with the game references, that was why I was glad that we had the movie theater to ourselves LMAO

So yeah that’s it, I just don’t want to spoil y’all with my yapping, anyways , now I just have to wait till they release the 4th movie, lord have mercy

*His tone isnt upset or negative, not even slightly, more or less playful. Hes actually not too upset about breaking his streak for his diet. Sure, he may be a bit unhappy about it lter, but right now he cant seem to find it in him to care, not when Simon seems so happy*

I think it's more that fma03 was so massive in Japan, why have all these episodes with the basics when everyone already knows this stuff?

From what I understand, it was as big or bigger than Harry potter at its peak in the US, for reference.

If they're given a set number of episodes, if you fast-forward through the beginning, you have more time to get through everything else, too.

I don't think it was bad writing.

"Fma 03 diverges from the manga at some point" 03 was never meant to be a 1:1 adaptation from the manga, with numerous 'divergences' and core differences being evident from episode 01. For such diehard manga fans/Arakawa worshippers, you would think people would notice this immediately. Then again, they're not particularly known for their keen eyes and would rather regurgitate memetic beliefs that just won't die in this fandom.

"Fma 03 and Brotherhood are meant to compliment each other," 03 is six years Brotherhood's senior. No, it was not made to enhance an adaptation that, at the time, was not in the books (or else, get this: they would have made Brotherhood instead) (which would be impossible anyway given that the manga was only one volume long when 03 was greenlit). (You also wouldn't have even gotten Brotherhood without the success of the first anime adaptation, but mangahood fans have an extremely difficult time accepting this fact.) Fma 2003 is a complete story without ever needing to read the manga or watch a show that didn't exist yet (Brotherhood). Meanwhile Brotherhood's early arcs are a rushed disaster that hopes it's audience either read those parts of the manga already, watched 03, or can forgive sloppy tv eps and/or are easily invested in whatever's fed to them.

And Brotherhood isn't a great stand-in for the manga, so it doesn't work as a shorthand (or long-hand) for the source material. It's nitpicky, and I know fma fans are squeamish about details, but I'm compelled to be annoying about it.
