Still thinking about Gortash’s coronation and how smoothly he cuts a Durge off from their companions (and wishing we had a follow up with that)

The first words out of his mouth are that he cares about them- anybody else who remembers Durge has only distain for them, but not him- he’s happy to see them, he missed them, they’re his favorite assassin and he’s only glad to see them alive

And then he takes it a step further by providing insight into their past, something Ketheric refused to do for them- and Gortash isn’t dumb. He knows exactly how Durge’s companions will react, knows that he’s effectively outing Durge when he so easily could have pulled them to the side instead

And when their companions snap at them and refuse to look at them, Gortash is still smiling. Suddenly, he’s the nicest person in the room. Suddenly, everything is unstable and dangerous- but he likes you. He’s sitting there with open arms while the companions are rightfully so mad with Durge, but Gortash is more than happy to resume their alliance

He’s more than happy to be their sole source of comfort again, and isn’t he just so sweet for that?

one of the things ive been doing as i replay rebirth is taking nice screenshots of enemy/monster designs because i feel like it can be hard to appreciate the work done on them while one is frantically trying to keep cloud and friends alive. however, the way the photo mode works is very frustrating because the camera's focal point is locked onto whichever character the player is running around with, making it very difficult to hone in on anyone who isnt that character. what i end up having to do is running behind whatever im trying to take a picture of and hit the photo mode button before it can turn around and then toggle the party visibility off if they're still in-frame. as annoying as it is to have to jump through hoops to get the shots I want, the results are often extremely funny.

wait okay so about sexualities- do you mean that idk Jamie could go from pan to gay or something, thereby making him unable to be romanced by female-identifying players, or what is it that you meant? will certain players, depending on their identity, be locked out of playing certain routes, or did I just completely misunderstand you hahaha

Haha it’s nothing abrupt like that. It’s more like: each cast member knows (or in some cases aren’t certain) what their sexuality is at the start of the game, and so we’ll have them act accordingly based on that. Then if they end up liking MC, then their sexuality will change to encompass them!

So let’s take Elio for example. He’s heterosexual at the start of the game. If your MC is only female identifying and he falls in love with her, then he’ll stay heterosexual for the rest of the game. But if your MC is only male identifying, then depending on how the route unfolds Elio can start labeling himself as homosexual, demisexual, or bisexual. And the same can be said for nonbinary folks! The options can then be expanded to pansexual, or omnisexual!

The idea here is that— every single cast member is their own person before you, the MC, ever came into the picture. But they can still be shaped as a person based on the choices you’ve made after meeting them, the same way your MC can change based on what they do or what happens in the game.

Lilly said something like this before where they talked about the meaning behind our game name, but people are a mosaic of the ones they’ve encountered, and so our cast members are who they are unless someone comes along to change that.

So going back to Elio— he’s heterosexual unless YOU change that, unless he falls for you and makes the big decision to embrace a side of him he didn’t know about until you. The point is change is possible if you meet the right people.

Oh and one more thing— just to clarify. There are no routes nor will there ever be any that lock you out of romancing an LI just because of how you identify. Of course, I still want to respect our cast’s sexuality as I hope others are doing in real life. But I also believe that love is powerful and willing, and they’ll change to love you for who you are. But that change might not be quick or simple either. Don’t forget— for our current LIs, you’re his friend first and then a romantic candidate. So while change is possible, it’s also scary and unknown. But that’s just how awakenings are, you know?

i know i only introduced these guys like 2 weeks ago but i've managed to get emotional about them as if i've had them for years. it's mainly because their actual story is really personal to me... but also i just like them

this is set at the very very end of jamie and argyle's story when they finally make up. texas blue came on while i was finishing my height lineup and it felt so them that it hurt. and then funnily enough easier came on when i finished THIS and that ALSO feels so much like them that it hurts. i don't feel like drawing something for that though

Thinking again about my plans for Vash and Knives in ITNL

Which I can't really get into the specifics for How I'm going to do things w/o going into spoiler territory. But I Do have Vash & Knives tagged on the fic for a reason. I set up in the first chapter that Vash is determined to try to save Knives too.

Which. That choice, as well as the entire basis for all of this, depends so much on that final fight in trimax. The one that was literally a scene away from where ITNL Vash went back in time. His mentality just a hair's width away from that...

At the end of trimax, there was reconciliation, however brief and incomplete it was. In ITNL, my question to myself was How could I induce that again? Under different circumstances, How Else could we get there? And that is the long-game in ITNL.
