Around Samhain, which I do celebrate to venerate my ancestors and some friends of mine whom I lost too soon, I begin to feel a closeness to my patron and his queen that seems oddly unrelated to the sabbat itself. The energy of the season changing from a summer bursting with life, to the coming winter where death occurs on the topsoil and the weather is bleary summons them to the forefront of my mind often, and I hope that while I know my queen is happy at this time, for her swift return in the spring.

as soon as the final notes of august fell away, i flicked on the night lamp and tinted my lips burgundy with supermarket wine. september is a doorway, a prelude to a soft gloom, like bringing pomegranate seeds into one's mouth. a time of longer nights, mercurial skies, and rougher seas where unsung indigo dreams can dance around a fire. i'm slowly learning to make peace with the contradictions that make up this body, draping my ribs with the prettiest wildflowers and not once flinching when the darkness peers through. the dirt under my fingernails no longer mortifies me because i belong in a grave as much i belong in a garden. a paradox with a name that demands the full use of tongue, dauntlessly descending, knowing she can never be just one thing. almost twenty three years ago i took my very first breath on the bosom of this border, and it has always been a place for me to be.

the sudden realization that probably the coolest and most interesting new persephone story I’ve encountered in recent years is in the old gods of appalachia podcast and i’m not even sure at all if those persephone parallels were intentional or not

on the one hand I definitely want to see how differently the other romances hit when grace is mortal

on the other hand. how fucking devastated I'll be if I have to sit through Freddie's confession and pretend trading my soul to bring her back to life was a thing I did with fully platonic intentions

Day 5: Soulmates | Alternate Universe | “Are we fighting or flirting?”

Thought it would be fun to do a Hades!Chuuya and Persephone!Dazai. Have not seen it done before, so why not?

Inspirations: Helm of Darkness Sheep Version and also the King of Sheep Skull for young chuuya was too fitting.

More rambling on this AU Below Since I have a lot of thoughts:

I have seen a lot of Hades! Dazai and Persephone! Chuuya and many of those fics are really good. But in the case of Soukoku, I have not seen a fic/art piece where Dazai is Persephone with Chuuya as Hades. Ao3 has Dazai in different pairings when he is Persephone.

One video that inspired me is overly sarcastic production's YouTube myth video on Hades and Persephone and this fic. I was introduced to the concept that Persephone and Demeter's origin is much older than Hades, though they were still wrapped up with the king of the dead, which is not Hades, but ancient Poseidon. They also have a lot of spooky lore surrounding them where they were feared to the point they were not talked about. Persephone could be considered more powerful because she is linked to the Underworld and entitled to a lot of secrets. At this point, I had decided to draw Dazai as Persephone and Chuuya as Hades.

Also, there is the line: Dread Persephone and Stalward Hades. Persephone has been considered the more frightening one out of the two, though both are terrifying.

Few bullet points on them

Cerberus is a dog. And somehow Chuuya owning a three-headed dog when he canonically loves dogs seems fitting

Persephone has way too much fear-based symbolism and is known as the queen of the dead. Dazai is feared reputation-wise but also can be seen surface-level as friendly.

Both Hades and Persephone have wrath-based tales in which if someone outside of their relationships flirts/tests the relationship with one of them, the other will reign the wrath on them.

Dyed my roots red in order to celebrate the courage and strength the morrigan lends me and the confidence and patience Persephone grants me. I love having ways to carry them with me, this one’s just a bit more permanent <3

Just very thankful they have some overlapping correspondences and attributes (I.e. reds and blacks). Makes it a bit easier 🥰
