A core feature of anti-fatness is the "you did this to yourself"-view. People are very invested in the idea that size is within everyone's control. It's soothing to believe that all fat people are a small series of good choices away from becoming thin and staying that way, and that thin people are success stories by virtue of existing.

Any time we speak up about discrimination and fatphobia, someone inevitably plays that card. Trolls will say "eat a salad, pig" and well-meaning health nuts will gently explain what calories are. In either case, we're met with a "you know, you can stop this at any time." Why, if nobody was fat, thin people wouldn't need to examine their biases! It sure would be an easier time for everyone if we weren't so Around and Bulliable!

this COULD just be me & i accept that but i feel like jaheira is probably really good with little kids, except in that super hyperspecific way where she treats them exactly the same way that she treats adults and they pick up on that and are delighted by it. she’s like is it sensible to start eating bugs off the ground? :/ what kind of nutritional value will an all bug diet have? eat an apple or you will die on the road. local six year olds love her so so much.

‪i don’t think we talk enough about how this was genuinely so evil and fucked up of jeff to say. especially since he read shauna’s journals years ago, which was a huge violation of privacy, and then literally never talked about it with shauna.

like, put yourself in jeff’s shoes:

can you imagine reading about your wife’s teen pregnancy while stranded in the wilderness that ended with a traumatic and painful birth that nearly killed her, and the dream she had between workds where he had survived, and she was so overcome with love for this child, then dream that her teammates murdered and ate her baby, only to wake up and find that he had never been alive in the first place—and not ONCE thinking that was something you might want to talk about with her???

can you imagine knowing all that, and then making her carry that grief and trauma alone for years, when you know you could shoulder it with her? when you know that he was your baby too, and that your wife deserves more than to carry the burden of that loss by herself?

and can you imagine then weilding that trauma against her with a sentence that can only be described as emotional and psychological warfare, and watching her deflate but saying nothing about it, even though SHE KNOWS YOU KNOW because, oh yeah—you had to confess to reading her journals when you confessed to using the information you learned about her deepest darkest shameful secret to blackmail her friends, just to keep your stupid, shitty furniture store in business??

and then can you imagine taking away your wife’s agency and the opportunity for her to be honest with her daughter by telling said daughter (whom she still gave birth to, btw, even after all That, because she felt so much guilt about losing her first baby and she wanted to make your annoying ass happy) about the son she lost in childbirth and how your daughter’s mom just “sooooo fucked up” because of it, while STILL NEVER EVER HAVING TALKED ABOUT IT WITH YOUR WIFE???

like that is serious villian shit!!! if you would do that to someone you claim to love, you are a bad partner and a bad person!!! zero exceptions—not even for “himbos” and who say one funny thing about there being no book club because they were too dumb to pick up on such an obvious fucking lie, and then are revered by fans everywhere for that!! not even for losers who’s sexual fantasy is their fuckass failing furniture having customers for once!!
