Dick is Romani and is canonically more feminized but the dumb womanizer thing is really getting on my nerves. First of all, he's one of the smartest characters, ever. The comforting thing about Dick is that he never loses.

The reason I love reading Dick Grayson runs is because I can read about his thought process, the way he analyzes, how he single-handedly solves crime like it's nothing.

Secondly he's not a womanizer. He literally has a mental break down at the thought of dating or even kissing someone he isn't in love with. He's never, ever, ever going to sleep with someone he doesn't have atleast some level of romantic attraction to because he feels it's inherently wrong and canonically frowns upon that behavior when others do it.

The mother hen thing - I gotta admit is kinda accurate. He really loves his family and friends and takes care of them really well. He always makes time to sit and listen to all of them with all their problems and helps them solve it so that's fine.

The hispanic thing - what the actual heck. Literally why? Jason's "hispanic" fanon background along with Tim's "asian" background comes from a wider problem where society has become disillusioned by the same ethnicity for all characters and wants for diversity and representation in the media. I actually do believe in greater representation but not here. When people make Jason hispanic due to his street backstory, they're attempting to diversify canonically white characters but accidentally reinforcing and perpetrating damaging stereotypes about particular ethnicities. Because his background has drugs, poverty, and crime - you want Jason to be Latino? Can you possibly make things worse? And Jason being an angry heartless brute. Not even adding to the stereotype, Jason was not like that. Jason originally started off as troubled but excited kid. He was happy about fighting criminals and having a home and getting food. As he grew older, the more criminals he fought, he came to a realization that people weren't going to change which is when he started getting more violent and angry with them. He didn't do it because he was some sort of psychopath, it's because he cared a lot about the effects these criminals were having on innocent people. Because he can relate. His anger has nothing to do with his supposed "hispanic" background which is still - ?!?!? Why is this even a thing.

I don't really have anything to say about Cass being that archetype because tbh I kinda think of her like that too. She's exceptionally good at fighting, she's chinese, and she's the strong and silent type. I'd love to hear more about what your gf thinks about it though.

Again about Tim being Asian. No where near as damaging as Jason being classified Hispanic but also why? He's asian because he's smart? Because he's good at computers? C'mon the stereotype is boring. Isn't it exciting when you watch a movie or show and the Indian guy isn't an IT specialist? Or when the Chinese girl has neon highlights and loves partying? Or when the Japanese girl is rocking combat boots? The best way to appreciate diversity is actually letting ethnic characters have diverse personalities and talents. On a side note, there is not nearly enough celebration of already canonically diverse characters like Roy's navajo heritage or Jessica Cruz's latina one. Isn't it ironic how we're making racialized characters based on stereotypes because we believe there should be more diversity but ignoring canonically ethnic ones. Literally noone talks about Cass connecting to her Chinese side or the fact that she has dyslexia but we're readily jumping on the Asian Tim Drake train.

Autistic Tim Drake I can see where they're coming from because Tim sometimes has a hard time connecting to people. Like he sometimes misses social cues. And to be fair this theory actually has more credibility than some other ones because I don't know if I'd pass that off as awkwardness. But it also may be due to lack of human interaction. Tim's parents left him alone for long periods of time which he gleefully used to track robin and batman at night. I don't have a problem with this one because Tim may actually be inadvertently written as autistic at times so I guess it wouldn't be that far off canon.

Man reading abt the treatment Richter got from Annette disgusts me. Oppression Olympics are super annoying already, but also this brand of f/m shipping where you have the #girlboss being constantly on top of her dumb malewife who is 100% devoted to her (it was already kinda awkward seeing fandom treat Draculisa that way w the og show ngl). Its supposed to be a twist on the usual sexist tropes like fridged wifes or women being the unpaid therapist but in the end it feels like an attempt to pass an unhealthy dynamic as cute n progressive and wholesome. You're not going to fix the cliché of Brooding Boy Gentle Girl by making the girl an asshole in the face of the boy's genuine trauma. You're not writing strong female characters by painting a woman who deceives, rapes and enslaves a man as a totally awesome move god i wish that were me fr fr.

NFCV has this pattern that so far hasn't been broken. It starts with Lisa sassily talking down Dracula in the first two minutes of the show, and then it kept going with Sypha keeping Trevor in check, Carmilla painting herself as the only braincell in Dracula's castle and so much cooler than the stupid men, Lenore treating Hector like a dog and the framing being one of titillation, the unnamed woman St. Germain has the hots for being generically badass, Greta literally saying that it's a good thing she can keep Alucard's life in order, and now Maria and Annette being almost the same brand of Stronk Independent Women who treat Richter like an idiot.

This is why I rolled my eyes when I learned about Annette in the show. It's not about racism, guys, I'm just tired of this archetype. It's not feminist to say that only one type of woman can exist, and this type of woman has to dominate over her man and be as unpleasant as possible because "god forbid women do anything".

Richter is genuinely nice, from what I've seen. He's cocky when it's the right time to be, nearly what I would expect from the real deal (minus the PTSD of course). The trailers did not make him justice one bit :\

Okay actually I want to talk abt the shit takes regarding the finale bc. Wtf.

In particular, there's this idea I keep seeing that c!Prime were both doomed and there was never any hope for them, and they were destined to destroy each other, etc. etc.

First of all, c!Dream was the instigator of like 90% of the conflict on the server and was always the one escalating things and the shit he did was just. Not even comparable to c!Tommy, but that's a whole other thing and I want to focus on the c!Tommy takes bc holy shit /neg

I'll start with the most annoying type that I've seen: Hero Complex aka c!Tommy was too obsessed with stopping c!Dream bc he can't view him as anything other than The Villain, and the whole him understanding c!Dream's motives thing is him "finally breaking free of his worldview" and this is supposed to be closure ig. But it was already too late at that point bc c!Tommy had already taken the hero thing too far and there was no going back.

You know, just. c!Tommy is deathly afraid of his abuser (who literally murdered him and also threatened to make his life a living hell for eternity) and this is a character flaw apparently.

Generally though it's just the idea that c!Prime were equally responsible for destroying the entire server (and the possibility of a real friendship between them) and the only option was for them to both die, get memory wiped, and then they can become friends and have a fresh start, and once again this is supposed to be closure ig bc they both just wanted to have friends. And the reason c!Tommy is equally responsible is bc he was too reckless/impulsive/traumatized/etc. and the whole nuke plan was that impulsiveness being his downfall. Nevermind the fact that it was literally a suicide and he did so believing that he was the cause of all the problems on the server and therefor he deserved it, and then he died still believing that.

But it's a good thing actually bc he recognized that he was equally responsible for everything bc he was too reckless and impulsive.

The absolute worst aspect of these takes though is the way c!Tommy's trauma is made out out to be this fatal character flaw. Like the whole "c!Tommy was too fixated on what c!Dream did to him and that combined with his impulsiveness was his downfall" and "c!Tommy couldn't let go of what c!Dream did to him and move on and it destroyed him" (bc it's not like he was horrifically paranoid bc c!Dream threatened to make his life a living hell and stalked him and psychologically tormented him or anything) and basically the implication that because of all that, death was the only option for him.

But it was a good thing actually bc c!Tommy lived and got a fresh start with no memories and that was the only way he could be happy again.

Like I really don't think that was the intended interpretation of the finale bc holy shit the implication there is that c!Tommy was too traumatized to live and the only way he could live happily was by having his memories wiped.

Like I suspect a lot of ppl are just not aware of how fucked up that is bc let's be real, it's unfortunately a common thing in media for traumatized characters to "find peace" or whatever by dying. Heroic Sacrifice my behated. And like this is definitely a problem with the finale itself too, but again I don't think the implications were intentional.

But also the aspect of "the only way c!Tommy could live happily was by having all his traumatic memories wiped" is just. It would have been impossible for him to ever heal and be happy despite his trauma ig? Or alternatively it was his own fault he destroyed himself bc he couldn't move on from his abuse (while believing his abuser was actively out to get him)? Like holy shit is that uncomfortable to see as an abuse victim who doesn't have the option of erasing all the traumatic memories. And also the fact that c!Tommy's death was a suicide on top of all that and. Ppl just ignore that part ig? Yeah it's not fun.

Anyway fuck that, fuck the idea that living with trauma is worse than death, and fuck the idea that abuse victims can't heal and be happy and that death is the only option. That is all <333

like, i get that some people are upset that dean is still in heaven but, it wasn't really a shock to me at all ?? sure i clowned a bit w/ the 'time traveling aliveboy dean' stuff but they literally said before the show even started that dean was on a "hiatus" from heaven and that was always in the back of my mind thru out my clowning. and it really was a hiatus from heaven ! it all took place in the heaven drive time gap as like a finale coda (and what a huge time gap that is to fill. there's still so much they can do w/ that bit of time alone imo). we also don't know how much jensen + robbie were allowed to change, there may have been stipulations w/ spnwin to not change the heaven finale, something that might have to wait for a reboot / continuation of spn prime.

but regardless, crucially ??? what spnwin did is it completely recontexualized dean's ending. i said this in the tags of this post but i'll say it again: the spn finale said. ok dean's dead. he waits for sam. and that's it. spnwin said. no actually !!! he's not accepting that peace !! he's not waiting around for sam !! and giving dean back that agency is important to me. giving dean back the ability to make his own choices and want things for himself is important to me.

and i know some people are doubtful that we'll get a s2 of spnwin, meaning dean's story would end here, on him being unhappy in heaven. but personally, i don't think it matters if we get a s2. i think jensen is Not done with dean or the spn prime story. he's said before that spnwin is only one of many stories he wants to explore in the spn universe. also, after that answer he gave recently at jibcon re: a destiel reunion, i think he def wants more spn ("hopefully we get to see that at some point / i'm sure it would go how we all think it would go" and dean wanting to talk abt the confession)

i think even if we don't get a s2, everything that spnwin established re: dean's story will be the foundation for that reboot / mini series they're always talking about. personally, i Don't think we'll see dean again if there is a s2. (tho we may hear him in voiceovers as they read his journal and use it as a guide. and we may learn more abt dean and his journey this way). overall, i think dean helped establish this story and these characters, but moving forward it will be focused on them and not dean (tho we will see familiar spn faces, and maybe they will get involved in the multiverse too and visit the main spn universe, who knows?)

i think we needed what spnwin gave us re: dean's story not being over, dean unhappy in heaven, dean still searching more, (hints about jack possibly being "off" too / chuck won theory...) as a foundation for future stories in the main spn universe post-15x20. we want to see dean bust out of heaven and find happiness right? well, the seeds for that have been planted. and i knowww that's asking for optimism and faith that we WILL see a continuation in the future, and i get that some people are just doubtful and hopeless, but i really think we will see a continuation in the (maybe not so distant) future. and imo having this foundation to work off w/ dean's recontextualized time in heaven is important for all the things we want to see in a continuation.

and like, even tho i'm annoyed that ppl think his 'ending' now is worse than it was in 15x20, i don't think it's wrong to feel upset, because if that really were where it ended for dean i wouldn't be happy either. but for me the thing is i really really do Not think this is it for dean. i don't think jensen will be satisfied w/ dean staying dead in heaven forever. it completely goes against the thesis of the show, and dean's personal desire for freedom over peace in 'paradise.' and after everything jensen said abt dean + cas reuniting, i think there's a lot of unresolved things in spn that he wants to address, and he'll keep trying to make more spn until we get a better ending for all these characters (bc lbr, sam's ending also sucked. we never saw cas again and all he got was a throwaway line in the finale. jack deserves better too. they all do).

im not proship myself but at the same time it seems completely unrealistic and infeasible to try to put a stop to it, people r gonna write and create stuff like that no matter what, and i genuinely do believe that some of it is done for shock value/attention , and giving it a response or acknowledgment is what they want. basically i take a sort of "dont feed the trolls" mentality about it. i dont want to see it but i also dont want to let it get to me. the internet is a place where theres some truly heinous and nasty shit out there and i feel like you'll destroy yourself mentally if you make it a major thing to worry about.

i do kinda live online but the fsct is that for the most part (outside of some things ive heard abt happening at like fan conventions) that it can be avoided by logging off. so becsuse of that as well i dont find it exactly an issue thats worth prioritising the way some ppl who r against pro-ship stuff are.

I've done it myself (albeit unpublished) and i find that argument to mostly be based in that they feel its cringe bc its fanfic rather than anything to do with genuine criticism.

ive also noticed the emergence of new terms like "comship" ? i kind of forget whst this means i think its like being neutral on it? i find it a bit shitty that ppl consider neutrality on it to be a bad thing? i csnt blame someone for not giving a shit about it. i think its lame to expect everyone whos involved with fandom to pick a camp to sit in, especially when the subject matter is often triggering. someones neutrality could be bc they dont want to think about it too much for that reason.

sometimes i b saying sensitive stuff on impulse (with no tone indicators whatsover) thinking the other person will automatically sense my intentions behind the text when its not the case & they can easily interpret it in multiple ways than like i did intentionally 🧍🏽‍♀️then it gets awkward and boom there goes another (possible) friendship

or when i respond dryly or ‘passive aggressively’ WITH NO intention to come across as so . bcs i usually type in caps & idk — very excitedly (ex. replying to a question in multiple msgs instead of 1 text) so when i respond shortly like ‘okok’ to someone, they will always easily interpret it as me being mad at them or me being dry and not wanting to continue the convo when I RLLY just eithergot distracted or i rlly didnt know what to respond

then there’s me stressingand having literal mental breakdowns when someone i text responds in a different tone than usual. like they’d respond in a dry or serious way and im instantly crying and being anxious thinking that they hate me or are annoyed by me . i react to this by either ghosting them to avoid rejection or confrontation or straight up ask ‘did i annoy you’ (which i always do and it can get exhausting for the other person, thus how some of my friendships end bcs ppl couldnt stand being questioned by me abt clarification on their tone lol)
