It had been literal years since Yana recalled meeting that alternate of their father. Once in awhile they would recall the 'not Baba' that they had met with Kaz, and how much he seemed so similar to the parent they knew. Of course getting older gave the hybrid better understanding of what had happened.

But knowing it better just made their curiosity grow even more. How was that version of Baba different from the one they knew? Were they similar in some ways? He was still the guardian of the Master Emerald that much was certain.

These thoughts were clouding their mind as they stared the Master Emerald down. The teenager had agreed to watch over it for a few hours to give Knuckles some time away from it. They wanted to help protecting it. A choice they had made on their own since Knuckles didn't want to put the same responsibility he had onto his children.

Although right now Yana was thinking less of protecting it and wondered if they could use it. Surely they could just take a small peek at that 'not Baba'. Gently they placed a hand on it, giving a few murmurs. There was definitely a shift in energy as they closed their eyes and concentrated hard. Please lead me to that other Knuckles-

They had been putting their body weight against the emerald, which is why they suddenly stumbled when it disappeared. They fell onto a heap on the ground, a moment of confusion and then panic as they looked up and around them. This was not Angel Island. This was not the Master Emerald's resting place. Where in the world did they just end up?!

Political Themes in Sonic The Hedgehog

So there are people nowadays that complain about "politics" being "forced" in media such as Sonic The Hedgehog, whether or not this is the case. They often go on to say they just want things like Sonic to be an escapist fantasy and to keep politics out. So I wanted to talk about political themes in Sonic The Hedgehog that have existed since the first game, and exist in other Sonic continuities as well.

So starting off while I don't know where to find said interview, the environmentalism is major theme stated to be behind Sonic The Hedgehog 1. Now while some people might say environmentalism shouldn't be regarded as political which I agree with, it has been made political by other people. With many of the people who complain about politics in media often complaining about environmentalism viewing it in media as inherently political. This is why I am including it. Continuing said themes can be seen in how in Sonic 1 after Eggman is defeated the Chaos Emeralds create more nature in an instant, and in the 8-bit version the Emeralds get rid of all the pollution done by Eggman.

This is further seen in Chemical Plant Zone and Eggman's bases being cold, mechanical, and the absolute polar opposite of Green Hill Zone. This is further seen in the comparison made by ALtheBoi between Angel Island and the Death Egg being polar opposites in their video How Sonic 3 Tells a Story.

This is further seen in Sonic CD with Eggman's greatest and most prized creation Metal Sonic. Or how the Encyclo-speed-dia puts it, "Eggman's answer to nature's perfect hero." In addition, the good future depicts the Little Planet as a solarpunk paradise, while the bad future depicts it as a polluted mechanical city with no nature in sight.

Eggman and Sonic's rivalry is depicted as freedom and nature vs oppression and pollution, as many of the blue blur's descriptions make this clear. Sonic Adventure "With a strong love of freedom, the only thing Sonic hates is oppression." Sonic Heroes "He's basically easygoing, but when he gets fired up over an injustice, his anger explodes with surprising consequences. Always at the receiving end of this aggression is arch-enemy Dr. Eggman, whose fiendish plots to take over the world are constantly being foiled by Sonic." Sonic Riders Zero Gravity "Sonic is a big fan of freedom and has no tolerance for evildoers." Olympic Games 2016 "He despises anything that is unfair and will get into trouble to help anyone in need." Sonic Superstars "Sonic the Hedgehog runs at mach speeds and is quick to engage those that threaten his friends, his freedom, or the natural world around him."

On top of this the existence of the Guardian Unit Of Nations and what they represent alongside their crookedness makes it where there are politics in the Sonic world. The same goes for the existence of Princess Elise and Blaze the Cat adding in monarchies.

The same goes for Queen Alena and Princess Sally as they do the same for Sonic Underground and Satam. Speaking of which Sonic Satam is the more blunt of Sonic continuities with it's political themes with the tyrant Julian Robotnik and his polluted reign of terror over Mobius, which of course bleeds into the Archie comics.

Humanity is obviously a central theme to DMC, but I have yet to see anyone mention how every single character within DMC is connected to each other with loss. I'd love to see a fanfic or even simple headcanons explore two or more characters' bonds over shared loss, especially ones that seem a bit odd.

Please, I beg to see Dante and Nico interact and see bits of Nell in each other. You guys, Nico and Trish bonding over demonology and devil arms, especially angus's research.

Idk how, but bring in Beryl. Have her relate to Lady over the overlaps and differences between their families. Beryl's dad went insane and died after possessing demonic power in an attempt to revive his late wife. While arkham killed his wife to possess demonic power and went insane and died. Not only that, they're both human devil hunters and have cool big ass guns.

(Ik Trish and Lucia dont out right lose family like most of the cast, but they still do experience loss. For Trish, it's her home and everything she knew until she left with Dante. In Deadly Fortunes, it's stated that she dedicates a lot of time to studying devil arms and demonology because she misses the underworld. For Lucia, she doesn't lose anyone, but she does have a loss of self after finding out she's a demon. Yall its a bit insane but parallels between Kyrie, Lucia and Trish with all of them having their worldview shattered. )

There was a small bit of curiosity on Yana's face, finally looking up at Ray. Their hands went to one of their quills, fiddling with it. "I'm Yana." They responded. "And my brother is Kaz. We're twins." Not that they were identical but the child didn't really know there was different types of twins.

"Um..." What was there to know? Yana wasn't even sure what to ask. "Um...!" No, there had to be something. "...Do you grow just corn?"

"Smart kid."

If he had known about avoiding strangers as a child, there was no telling where he would be today. There were some thoughts that crossed his mind, some of which were those he learned in the pediatric unit.

"Then let's make it so we're not strangers. What do you want to know?"

The offer was there, no time limit existed. Kids often enjoyed playing around on his fields. It wasn't something the squirrel worried about too much.

"I'll give you the introduction. My name is Ray."
