Tired: Enjolras sleeps in spine-wrecking positions because he’s a cat.
Wired: Enjolras sleeps in spine-wrecking positions because when he was shot out the window in 1832 that’s how he landed.
Anyway, happy Barricade Day.

2012 Enjolras sleeps hanging down from a bunk bed
Mmkay, another thought: what if the main position we sleep in is the position we were in when we died? Like, each of the Amis on their backs or fronts, while Grantaire has his body on his back as his hand falls off the side of the bed every night?
(Thanks @thepiecesofcait for like sparking up that Enjolras post, it’s really got my wheels turning :o)

So, I had to write a poem for school, and I’m kinda proud of how it turned out, so I decided to translate it into English as good as possible and post it here. (Spoiler alert: it’s gay)
I hope you like it!
Here’s the original:
Regenbogen
Warme Augen, zerzauste Haare,
And the translation:
Rainbow
In the street I see a man wearing a rainbow
And my mother pulls me away and says
Stay away from those people.
On TV I see two women kissing
And my father changes the channel and says
Think about the children
Those people have no decency.
And with disgust I look at the rainbow
My friends point at a girl and say
Isn’t she hot?
But I am silent.
My mind wanders
To the singer with the dark curls.
I think about my parents’ words
And full of shame I hide the rainbow
Then I see you
Warm eyes, messy hair
And your smile makes my heart beat faster.
You come to me
And say, as I blush,
“I like your boots”
On your shirt I read your pronouns
And proudly you wear the rainbow
We walk side by side, hand in hand
For the first time without fear.
The world around us is a sea of color
A street full of people like us.
I kiss the glitter from your cheek
Laughingly, you kiss it from my lips.
And proudly we raise our flags
Proudly we wear the rainbow

Why is Marius so angry? Why does Combeferre look 100% dead inside? Why does Enjolras sound like a condescending teacher? The world will never know.
tumblr
Friendly reminder that there IS a Les Mis movie in which the famous “To Be Free” happens.

fuck the social construct of beauty.
The Brick: *anything about Les Amis*
The Fanbase: yes, having read this passage over 150 times in French, English, and Italian, I can deduce that… *rants for an hour*
The Brick: Grantaire was ugly
The Fanbase: I’m sorry, I don’t know what this says, I can’t read
#also#look at george blagden#not my fault if they cast someone that pretty as R#Les Miserables#grantaire

Imagine dark!Valjean:
“You are wrong, and always have been wrong”
*shoots Javert*
(to the audience) “I’m a man, no worse than any man”
(to Javert’s body, sarcastic) “You are free. There are no conditions, no bargains or petitions. There’s nothing that I blame you for. You’ve done your duty, nothing more.”
(mocking) ”If I come out of this alive, you’ll find me at number fifty-five Rue Plumet. I doubt our paths will cross again.”
there are a lot of cringy school editions of les miserables but nothing tops the one my friends school made where Javert doesn’t take his life, instead he’s shot to death by valjean

“Take my hand, I’ll lead you to salvation. Take my love, for love is everlasting”
Friendly reminder that is never explicitly stated that Grantaire offered his hand for Enjolras to take. Hugo only says that Enjolras pressed Grantaire’s hand and smiled, like, Grantaire was okay just standing next to him in his final moments and instead Enjolras smiled and took his hand in his own so don’t fucking come and tell me Grantaire’s love for Enjolras was completely one-sided because you are wrong. “There are people who observe the rules of honor as we observe the stars, from far away”
I was just listening to the Les Miserables cast recording as you do at midnight, and I noticed something that almost made me cry. Probably has been pointed out before (it’s not new knowledge or anything), but in Look Down (the Paris one with Gavroche and the Amis) the Amis are singing, and then the crowd sings the line “how long before the barricades arise”. Now it hurts even more to think about the fact that when the barricades do arise, these same people are not there. That’s it. I am tired, but I am stubbornly still listening to music and making myself emotional, and I decided to make a post about it. I’ll go back to crying about fictional characters now, thanks for listening, and have a nice day/night
