I’m a big fan of Tolkien, it’s my whole world! And besides I’m not an artist, or something like that, I want to share my ideas, theories (just some of them), and a lot of things more... (like my obsession with some characters) But also, I’m a freak in like, a thousand other fandoms (?), so I guess this will be pretty messed up

Do You Remember Me?
“They tell me you’re the king now,” Feanor said with bright eyed curiosity. “Is it always one of your responsibilities to welcome the newly re-embodied?”
The first sentence, Finarfin had to admit, was not wholly unexpected.
… Even if it was said with far more cheerful curiosity than he had heard from his half-brother in - a long time.
“Not always,” he admitted. “Time would not permit it. But I was eager to see you again.”
Anxious. Furious. Bewildered.
But eager.
Feanor’s face brightened. “Again? We knew each other?”
Finarfin’s cautious smile froze. He turned, very slowly, to face Namo where he sat on his throne of judgement.

One of the ballsiest things Tolkien ever did was write 473k words about some hobbits called frodo, sam, merry, and pippin and then write in the appendices that their names are actually maura, ban, kali, and razal.

I remember reading a long time ago about Netflix making a Legend of Zelda series except it would be more “adult” and “like Game of Thrones”. Now Amazon wants to make their LoTR tv series “the next Game of Thrones”. Look, I understand these producers run on greed rather than any actual appreciation for film as an art form and Game of Thrones made a lot of money so they want to replicate that. Game of Thrones’ success has subsequently set a new standard for fantasy that requires hyper-violent and pornographic content. But that isn’t and shouldn’t be what the entire genre is! Not every fantasy is Game of Thrones! Legend of Zelda and Lord of the Rings both have their own unique styles that their fans love them for! And besides, if I wanted to watch something like Game of Thrones, then I would watch Game of Thrones!
As it so happens I don’t want to watch Game of Thrones, and I CERTAINLY don’t want to watch my favorite fantasy universes turned into perverted parodies of themselves, you sleazy corporate leeches!

I guess I’m updating my rant on Tom Riddle to an actual essay so be patient with me
I don’t even remember what I wrote last time lol but I wanted to do my full analysis now that I’m not in rage if that makes sense.
Let’s go by parts.
First, his parents.
So we are given Merope Gaunt and Tom Riddle Sr., and they tell us this woman just straight up drugged her crush and then expected him to stick around and love her? Like, she literally raped him. I can’t fucking blame him for just going back home and abandoning her, because that would be so traumatising. And what angers me the most about this, is that Rowling makes it seem like he was the bad guy because he ‘abandoned’ them. But all my issues with Rowling will have to wait for another day.
When Tom is born, he is raised in the orphanage, and it’s stated early on that he ‘does not have emotions’, and is ‘naturally evil’. But the thing is, was he really incapable of love just because he was conceived under the influence of amortentia? If he really had no love inside of him, by basic logic he wouldn’t have any other emotions, because is utterly ridiculous even by the standards of a magical world. In other words: he was capable of loving as much as any other child, the thing is, he wasn’t given the opportunity to learn how to love, which is precisely the whole basis of his character!
Growing up, he was looked down as the weird, abnormal kid, bullied both by the other kids in the orphanage and the adults too. And what the fuck are you supposed to do in the situation? There was no one to really explain how wrong the actions of those around him were, and kids absorb everything like sponges. In his eyes, their behaviour was normal, and therefore the way to avoid getting hurt was hurting them even worse. And let’s entertain for a moment the idea that love is the only emotion he didn’t have, which yet again, is portrayed ridiculously! Love had nothing to do with the situation he lived in. He could still felt fear and anger, and even guilt, but we were never showed that because, oh no, he’s the villain and he’s absolutely evil.
Dumbledore walks in. This. Fucking. Bitch.
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, who could have ended the war before Harry even started Hogwarts but didn’t because a stupid prophecy said so.
Dumbledore takes a look at this kid, after hearing a very biased opinion on him, and in that second he decides that this child is too far gone and can’t help him. And, of course, Tom is not stupid and he can see that Dumbledore doesn’t like him and he obviously will avoid him from now on and in consequence won’t trust any other adult.
And here is the worst part: even in a world where his magic isn’t rare, no one cares. The adults give a fuck about him, they never offer help. They know about the abuse he’s suffered for years and are doing nothing about it, so he starts making himself stronger. If only he was stronger, no one would hurt him again.
Then we get to the worst fuck up Rowling did with this wonderful character, because why, why in friggin hell, would he be afraid of death?
It doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t add up to everything that’s been building up in the background. He is sixteen at this point, asking about horrocruxes so obviously he is already looking for ways of staying alive, but it doesn’t make any sense! Sure, if he was an adult it would make more sense, but in this point in time there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for this ridiculous thing to pop up.
It doesn’t make sense that he wants to kill his father because he abandoned him, he would be angry and bitter but Tom is smart and being sane at this point would know that there is absolutely no point in doing it. It doesn’t make sense that he is afraid of an abstract construct that he probably doesn’t understand completely like any other teenager. It doesn’t make sense that he has plans of becoming a dark Lord at all, because in this point in time, he is in the middle of the war with Grindelwald, a war that started before he was even born, and wouldn’t finish until he was nineteen years old in 1945. Nothing makes sense (but hey, what can I expect from J.K. Rowling).
Anyway, let’s get going. Let’s imagine this makes sense despite being absolute shit, and he makes his horrocruxes.
Is should be widely known that he was fucking insane at this point. An horrocrux splits the soul in two, so he would have just have half of his soul before making the second one and so on.
From here on, his actions make more sense because he is not human anymore by any means, and he is completely bonkers, let’s face it. Mass homicide was expected to happen.
Now let me tell you why he is one of the best characters despite the author butchering him. Important to note that most people look to Harry as a survivor of abuse and I’m a 100% on board with it, but let’s not pretend their situations are in the same level.
Proof 1: Tom is an abuse survivor too, and in many ways I think it was possible he would have been killed if it wasn’t for his magic, a magic he knew he had and used. In other circumstances, he would have ended up in a similar situation to Credence. His actions are seen to be evil, but the main point of his whole character and this is stated, is that he acts in anger, pain and fear. He is afraid. And in the correct way of telling his story, his fear is justified. He is afraid because despite being ‘special’, people still cast him out. His fear is not the fear of death that was sold to us, is the fear that no one will ever feel the slightest empathy for him, that no one will ever understand how it feels like. His pain comes from being treated like a monster, by not receiving any kindness in his whole life, because even after Hogwarts he had no friends, just followers fascinated by his natural power and talent.
Proof 2: Tom’s ‘inability to love’ is simply the fact that he does not know what is love. How could he? He’s never been shown what it is. And later on, mental disorders can be developed, specially in cases like this, when the child eventually starts rejecting any kind of affection (a condition that doesn’t have a cure). The way this whole thing comes down would have made an even better character, and he wouldn’t even be the villain. I wholeheartedly believe that if he had been written correctly, there would have been a real villain, Dumbledore (not to say he is evil, but you don’t have to be evil to be a villain), and Tom would have been more of an antagonist. This may have given the opportunity to have a special interaction between him and Harry when he realises this teenager isn’t that much different than him. And Harry could have found too someone who understands how it feels to be a freak. This two have the potential of a great relationship that doesn’t necessarily have to be on good terms, but they would have naturally developed mutual respect by still being able to dislike each other and it would have been more logical, more natural.
Proof 3: Tom is, in reality, a good person. He is a little bit of a sociopath, as a matter of fact, but he is often described as quite a genius (?) child. He is smart, brilliant, and clever. If we ignore the nonsense of dark lords and horrocruxes, Tom would have fought to change the magical world for all those who are outcasts like him. While the ministry has laws against magical creatures, Voldemort is constantly making alliances with them, not only because is convenient, but because he genuinely does not care what they are. His hatred for muggles is exaggerated but understandable, but if he truly believed in wizards supremacy, he would not trust nor ally himself with werewolves, giants, etc. Tom is so brilliant that, even when Dumbledore suspected him when young, he got away with the things he wanted because he was so careful as to not leave any evidence of his plans, until it was too late. Once having this redirected, he could have perfectly fit in politics or similar places. He is charming and can easily make people do his bidding. He would have used this to get justice. Maybe not in the most peaceful way, but his intentions wouldn’t have been bad.
Of course, much of what I’ve said can be biased but I’m not here to be totally fair, I’m here to proclaim my love and devotion for what Tom Riddle could have been.
There is so much to this single character that deserves his own series of books because there is a lot of wasted potential. Harry and Tom are such parallels and yet, their whole dinamic was simple and vague, with good points but had as much significance as it would have been with any other protagonist with a totally different backstory.
Tom Riddle is this traumatised yet strong character, even if he isn’t good, but... cartoonish villains I guess.
Thanks to coming to my ted talk... if you managed to go through the whole thing.
English is not my first language, sorry for all my fuck ups
[Shameless side note: I do have a fanfic where Tom is the chosen one, and it’s not very good because I suck at everything but if you wanna check it out is here]

DC or MARVEL?
Lately, everything is Avengers Endgame and that got me thinking on this particular debate.
I personally think that both are great in different ways, a but let’s face it: there’s always going to be those fans that like to get on unnecessary fights about who’s better that who.
My personal favourite, it’s, of course, DC.
I can’t call myself a fan, ‘cause I barely know one thing or another (same goes for Marvel), and I honestly am a coward and the Joker really scares me sometimes, but that’s a speech for another day.
And, Marvel it’s the one that has the good movies and stuff. I used to enjoy going to the cinema and watch them, but I honestly got tired and decided I wouldn’t, with little exceptions. In fact, I haven’t seen anything since... what? Doctor Strange? Or before?
Yeah, Endgame can be a “good movie” (can’t give an opinion on something I haven’t seen), but sometimes I just wanna scroll down my dashboard in Pinterest without Marvel popping out of nowhere to interrupt me while I’m busy accumulating DC fanarts, thank you. It’s like the damn app it’s trying to convince me that Marvel’s better?
Anyway, just gotta say that you can’t compare them. I still love Avengers and stuff, but you can’t come and tell me in my face that Tony Stark it’s better than Bruce Wayne. Like, honestly, fight me on this.
Or captain America being better than superman (to do a comparison), and it’s not even fair since Clark’s an alien...
I just wanted to say this, even if it doesn’t make sense? Guess I’m just bored? If anyone made it down here.... sorry man.
Something on compensation (credits to the author that I don’t remember who it is?)

So... dragon ball
Yeah, dragon ball. Why? (Spoiler: this is going to be loooooong)
I. Love. Dragon Ball. With all my life.
I’ve always liked it, but lately I’ve seen a lot of it and I remembered how much I adore it. Like, I’ve seen the new Broly movie like, a thousand times? And I’ve already seen Dragon Ball super twice in a row.
So, of course, it’s all I can think about. And because of that, I came to analyse a lot Goku’s and Chichi’s relationship.
And, man, I came to realise a lot of things. At first, I was like, sure, I love all the characters even if they’re a little bit crazy, but then...
A lot of people draw cute couple drawings with them and stuff, and it’s so adorable (even tho I clearly ship other things), but— Chichi is abusive. Why? If you want to see my reasons, read my speech:
Saiyans are naturally attracted to strong women. That’s literally canon. So it’s a understandable why Goku married her. Nice. And sure she hasn’t done anything bad to her children. I mean, have you seen Gohan? Good job lady. But as in any relationship there are flaws. The ones here are massive.
Chichi wants Goku to be more responsible, and I totally get that. He needs to settle down sometimes, BUT: she tries to take away what he loves the most in the world. I’m sure he always tries his best to meet her expectations, but it’s just so wrong how she handles it, telling him how useless he is? (Not in that words that I recall but you get my point)
Goku it’s a saiyan. And he simply loves the fighting and going around kicking ass, and that’s great. And he tries, even though it doesn’t seem like he does. But she always keeps screaming and demanding.
Chichi it’s completely childish. You can see it all the time. Sometimes you get to see a more reasonable and mature side of her, but most of the time she’s there just to dramatise how things are not her way. Examples: her efforts to make the boys as human as posible and trying to convince them it’s useless to be like their father, punishing Goku for doing what he likes instead of respecting his nature and help him equilibrate his life between training and family, getting herself into Videl and Gohan’s house to tell them how to raise Pan without letting Videl have an opinion until Bulma stepped in, and so on (I’m too sleepy to think of more).
So, after all this, Yeah, Dragon Ball’s point it’s not the relationships and stuff, but it’s some messed up stuff. Not even Bulma does that to Vegeta. It’s true that she’s always like “ugh, all he can think of it’s training”, but she never tried to make him stop unless she thought his life was in danger (Cell’s arc, before Trunks was born and he was just starting his life on Earth), which I think it’s important to take in count.
Uff... this got longer than I thought it would be... I’ll give you something in apology (credit on the photo):

About fanfiction
Lately I’ve been wondering what people think about the fanfics I write. Like, not about the plot itself, but about the characters.
The reason I’m kinda doubting it’s ‘cause I ALWAYS write about male characters.
It’s not like I don’t like women? I mean, I’m hella gay, but that’s not the point. Women are cool, man, and everything, it’s just that...
I feel like my readers would get uncomfortable with that, it’s really a very little part that it’s feminine in my fics, and I don’t wanna offend anyone.
The thing is, I’m a man.
And as a man, I... don’t... understand... women? I know they’re not super complicated as many men say, but I simply cannot put myself in the situation and ask “what would a women do?”
I guess it’s ‘cause I don’t want to get it wrong and f*ck it up pretty bad.
So... I don’t know. Gotta thing about it.

So, I kinda wanted to add something to this old post.
I will forever believe this, CHANGE MY MIND
I cannot stop thinking about it, and I know some people think it’s impossible, mostly because Beleriand was in fact far away from The Lonely Mountain, But... did the great master Tolkien ever mentioned were exactly did Nelyo died? In my copy at least it’s not clarified, it just said that he jumped into... f*ck, I read that in Spanish, can’t translate it, but it’s like this:
“Pero la joya quemaba la mano de Maedhros con un dolor insoportable; y entendió que era como había dicho Eönw, y que no tenía derecho al silmaril, y que el juramento no serviría de nada. Y lleno de angustia y desesperación, se arrojó a una grieta de grandes fauces que despedían fuego, y así lego su fin; y el silmaril que llevaba quedó sepultado en las entrañas de la Tierra”
In shorter words: he jumped into lava, but it doesn’t says where.
And, why else would everyone fight over the arkenstone if not a silmaril?
Ok, I was thinking about the arkenstone. And then, I have an idea! What if the arkenstone is one of the lost silmarils!? I mean, if the lonely mountain has a “heart”, why the others not? It doesn’t make sense! The dwarfs didn’t found another arkenstone, even though they were always searching for gold in the mountain. And there are many theories that says that the mountains are inactives volcanoes. The Silmarillion says that Maedhros jumped into a volcano, and the silmaril was buried. Then, in the hobbit, the dwarfs found a jewel, the fairest. So, either I’m crazy or I’m right.

I’M BACK WITH SOME SHIT
Last time I think I complained about... Will Solace? Was it about him or something else?
Idk, who cares.
Today, I’m complaining about Harry Potter.
Well, I cannot call me potterhead ‘cause I’m not really that obsessed with it, it was just a phase, but I do like it and I kinda know a lot about it, so... yeah.
What I usually think about is Dumbledore and how much I hate him.
Ok, maybe not like that, but I think he really was the “bad guy” all along.
There’s a lot of people that idolise him and stuff, but the truth is that it was HIS fault that Voldemort existed in the first place —this has nothing to do with the fact that I love Tom, or maybe it does.
Tom, as we know perfectly, was born under the influence of amortentia, which in the canon means that he cannot feel love, or any positive emotion, and plus all the abuse he suffered along his childhood, it filled him out of hatred and “evil”.
But, let’s be clear. How in the f*ck is he not going to become a dark wizard? Dumbledore knew about the abuse, that’s something we have clear, but the first second he realised Tom was a parselmouth and he heard about the things he did to the other orphans, he immediately inclousured him in the category of evil, though he was ELEVEN years old, and did nothing to change this.
What’s the f*cking responsibility of a teacher? TAKE CARE OF THEIR STUDENTS. THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO DO. The magic world is a sh*t if they let magical kids being bullied and abused, knowing about the situation. Dumbledore had in his hands the opportunity of helping a poor, INNOCENT kid that didn’t deserve all the sh*t of his wicked family.
Tom wasn’t guilty for the things his grandfather, uncle and mother did, nor his father.
And I don’t blame Tom Riddle senior on this because he had THE RIGHT to run away from a woman that basically RAPED him, and DRUGGED him for a long time.
Voldemort was born because Dumbledore was a poor excuse of a wizard that couldn’t let aside the prejudices against the Slytherin family. And it can be seen along all the series. He ALWAYS was on Gryffindor side, a sick favouritism for them. Yes, there was a lot of Slytherin that were evil, but can you imagined being HATED all your school years?
Everyone would look at them and whisper they’re evil, and that they’re going to become dark wizards.
How can a child grow up like that and NOT become a monster?
Because when they treat you like a monster, THATS WHAT YOU BECOME.
That’s it. That’s my speech. Thank you for your attention.
