I know a popular idea for Kurloz is that he's based on the band Ghost, and it makes sense. The skeletons and religious themes are there, but consider this.

These are the same image. I always interpreted Kurloz as being a parody to 2000's emo culture rather than gothic.

I mean even "The Dark Carnival" could be switched up with "The Black Parade" if you think about it.

Truly this art rivals the great Michaelangelo. This should be in the Sistine Chapel. This art inspires me with feelings of unbounded joy and admiration. This is beauty in it's most pure and true form.

My partner wants us to do a couples cosplay as Eriroxy. This will be the one and only time I will swallow my pride and do something related to that pity-partying motherglubber. As much as my partner says it, I am not Eridan Ampora.

I love my partner because they'll actually review and criticize different ships and go into tangents on whether they do or don't work. Especially for Homestuck. They especially rant whenever they see a ship they don't like and they genuinely get so passionate about it and I love it. I don't know what their favorite ship because they talk about so many is but I have spent at least 3 hours of my life listening to them talk about their utter abhorrence for two very specific ships that I shan't name. In case you're wondering, yes they are a Heart player.

Honestly, I lowkey get Kankri sometimes. Because if I was raised in a society where I was constantly coddled and not taken seriously by everyone including my own maternal figure, I'd be pissed off about everything too. I think a lot of people don't understand why Kankri acts the way he does and he's so self-righteous about everything. It's because he's raised in a world where he's never taken seriously. Even after he's dead, he's still getting coddled by Porrim, when he's clearly attempted to set up boundaries. And I know a lot of people think that Kankri's concerns about the Hemospectrum don't matter anymore because everyone is dead, but it clearly still affects him because, once again, Porrim is shown culling him on-screen! No one takes him seriously, so he does all these sermons and made all those memos to try and show everyone that he CAN provide! He doesn't have to be coddled, but everyone just brushes him off because of the harmful culling culture of Beforus. And don't get me wrong, Kankri brushing off Porrim's concerns about feminism isn't good, but it shows part of his character. He believes that his issues should take top priority because if they aren't then they'll just be brushed aside as "silly mutant nonsense". Also Kankri literally says that he's WILLING to talk to Porrim about misogyny! It's just not his top priority at the moment because it doesn't actively affect him.

On top of this, Porrim is known to be the one to coddle him all the time, something he is SHOWN to despise, so obviously he's going to be more dismissive of her views. Porrim literally acknowledges this!

Kankri is such a wonderfully complex character and the fact that people boil him down to such an irredeemable asshole genuinely upsets me. Porrim and Kankri are two of my favorite characters and their dynamic is really interesting, but just boiling down both of their characters to "misogyny" and "village two-wheeled device" is really moronic frankly. There's so many context clues and dialogues that give us extensive knowledge on all of the Dancestors that everyone just seems to not pay attention to.

Do y'all ever think about how Gamzee really spent most of his time being brainwashed? Whether it be by Lil Cal, Lord English, or Aranea. Most of Gamzee's evil attitudes are a direct consequence of someone else's interference. Heck, even his horribly toxic kismesissitude with Terezi is implied to be due to Aranea. The only time we get to really see Gamzee's true personality when he's not under some kind of horrible influence is when he's high on sopor slime before the events of murderstuck. It's actually kind of sad when you think about it. This poor kid who really just wants to make the people he considers his friends smile is constantly mocked, insulted, brainwashed, and used for someone else's horrible goals, all because he's destined to be something he really doesn't want to be. I've always really loved Gamzee, and I feel like the tragedy of his character often goes overlooked.

Just discovered that when I was getting my wisdom teeth removed I started talking to the nurses and doctor about the poor Native American representation of My Little Pony and how the buffalo had absolutely zero obligation to give up any of their land and how it really made me upset when they did. Am... Am I Kankri Vantas???
