Come by Singular Couture for the special opening Friday, August 18th from 5-8pm. I had the opportunity to collaborate and work with Sarah and painted several of her silk jackets with Puebloan designs which will be featured at the opening along with works from Anthony Gchachu and Lorne Honyumptewa! 16x40 Acrylic/Micaceous Iron Oxide This design is inspired by trails and pathways our ancestors utilized for trade and prayer. Lines are integral and vital to our ancestors as a means to measure time calculating the solar and lunar movements but also represent trails and pathways that were essential for trade and the pilgrimage to Chaco.

16x40 Acrylic/Micascous Iron Oxide This design is inclusive of the Hohokam and Mimbres, trying to depict and emulate the boldness and linear forms that is portrayed on pottery. This design has many meanings and interpretations which incorporates the binaries of life and death. The swirl represents our journey after death, where no binaries exists but a feeling of oneness-like a droplet of water entering the sea. Again, this is one of many meanings and interpretations of this design.

Two solar plate prints with Akua Ink on paper! This method incorporates image/picture, photoshop, and using the sun to etch the image onto the plate. I was able to use photoshop with these images to create an aqua tint and then printed them onto film. This helps create an image on the plate when it's exposed in the light room. After exposure and a 2-5 minute bath, it's time take it outside and let the sun do work for a couple minutes which will etch into the enamel and create the design. I really enjoyed working on this project because it incorporates other mediums and techniques like photography, printing, and digital media to create a print.
