I want to live in a city where...
- people don’t go home after work, they go for a coffee or a cocktail
- that has summer weather, or better has seasons
- where people cross streets whit red lights
- 20 day vacation are norm
(to be continued)

march 2017
And will you be turned away? Yes, you will be. By people and circumstances that find you and your beliefs so different that you threaten their way of life. You threaten their old ways of seeings things. You threaten even their routine. They will eye you warily and speak about you in secret. They will ridicule you in the streets. The gatekeepers will find ways to push you away. But don't let them stop you. It is not you they are afraid of, it is themselves. They are afraid to question their way of life. They are terrified to confront themselves and see what's missing. They are afraid of what you represent, change. There's always a place for you because there is no one who's exactly like you. http://www.wearesolesisters.com/2017/02/there-is-place-for-you.html

2017 - being "political" is no longer taboo
I admit that I've always seen the SuperBowl commercials and never watched a game. :p And this year I am happier than I can recall, the number of brands coming forward with bold statements is remarkable. @audi - proudly feminist @ airbnb- inclusive #weaccept @airbnb @84lumber - keeping the american dream alive

“That’s his job!”
No! You are wrong! That’s everybody’s job. Not long ago, I was part of a girls talk, where a successful young lady bursts out of her moth “That’s his job!”. We were talking about condoms, contraceptives and STD’s. I got… mad! And sort off called her off. If you are part of something, it’s also your job. Don’t just relay on others, be prepared, make sure you do participate. That answer was such a SHOCK for me.
Is it because sex is treated as a tabu in the US? Or maybe because the way sexual education is handled in schools here? Maybe, did I just run into an exception?
Unfortunatly, I do not think it was an exception! And.. do not get me wrong, I do not know it all. I got a lot to learn!
But, Politics are also kind of a tabu in the US. Everyone is watching the debates and following the updates on Hillary’s emails and Trump’s dramas… But I still hear a lot of comments like “I won’t vote in this election”; “I never voted, I don’t have a party, so there is no sense on going to vote”; “There is enough people voting”; “I wouldn’t make a difference” and again “That’s not my job!”.
WRONG! THAT’S EVERYBODY’S JOB! If you are an US citizen is your duty to vote, as it his for any citizen of his own country. WE ARE PART OF IT, because we live here. And no, nobody should get embarrassed for talking about politics at work, school, in a bar.. Maybe if we were openly talking about it, there would be more people interested in participating, there would be more well educated people about politics. And, if all of you, who think that you wouldn’t make a difference, would come out to vote… this would be different.
As well as, if all of you that enjoy sex would be “prepared” the STD numbers in the US would be coming down and not up (as they have been).
Yes, you can talk about sex. You can talk about politics. You can even talk about it together. But you can not complain if you don’t participate.
And, I am sorry to tell you IT’S YOUR DAM F****** JOB!
Stop leaving the important stuff for the others, because you are too afraid to take responsibilities. Life isn’t easy. If it was, it wouldn’t be fun.
DO YOUR JOB AND BE ACTIVE WHILE BEING PART OF IT. Being present isn’t enough. WAKE UP!

4th Post - mi manchi While in Venice, I wanted to visit Teatro La Fenice, a beautiful Opera House. But when I got there I found the ticket to visit too expensive, but there was symphony orchestra concert that night and the price was around the same price. I decided to come back that night, before catching the train back to Milan to see it. I loved it. The space was beautiful, and once again I learned to like symphony orchestra concerts. Everyone was so dressed up! But me, I was backpacking. Although, When I went to the coat check drop my enormous back pack I found a lady in her 60’s doing exactly the same...I smiled. And decided that I want to be exactly like her when I grow… =)
I had this high school teacher, Teresa Mendes, that teach me to like Opera. If you wonder how one can teach somebody to like something like that, you may think that is not easy, because all kids have this preconceived idea that it is boring... She did it by making us go to an Opera, and do 2 projects related to it. It was amazing. And, even if not all of us loved the associated projects, we all liked the show. I guess the hardest was convincing us to go… Once you are part of something, your opinion changes. After that I have been way more open, to try new things that are “supposedly, not my cup of tea”. It’s funny how these little things have the power to shape our personality along the way. - all pics taken by me 2012/2013

3rd Post - mi manchi If you are like me, you knew Venezia as this postcard image that it’s sold over and over in the Hollywood movies and travel websites, as this sunny paradise of colorful houses and water canals. So it struck me as surprise that when getting off my train ride from Milan I land in a snowing Venice. (No, I didn’t checked the weather before travelling that weekend. And no, I didn’t thought about how northem in Italy I actually was, just naive of me, I guess...) Venice with snow it’s beautiful! I loved it! It was like a magic land! In my first morning, when I was about to go explore this beautiful place the little bridge that gave access for the hostel was pure white with no steps marked on it yet… It felt so unique! - all pics taken by me 2012/2013

2nd Post - mi manchi
The country, the people, the time being, THE FOOD, gli ragazzi, gli gelati, il vino… Not sure what it was, but Italy played such an important role on who I am. I traveled by myself, “ho imparato l'italiano”, lived with a squeezed budget...and I had such a good time! Most of all it made me learn to LIKE WHO I AM and have the confidence to smile, to do …, to wear …, to speak… - all pics taken by me 2012/2013

“When I was younger, a boss once gave me this advice: Just do one big thing every year and you’ll have a successful career. Write a book. Launch a new project. Change jobs. His point was that in order to crack through the white noise of our daily work, we need to be sure each year to strive for one big leap.” by Joshua Cooper Ramo in https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/success-now-secrets-next-wave-joshua-cooper-ramo?trk=hp-feed-article-title-editor-pick

Funny Facts. (not so funny) Born in US. Raised in Portugal. Since my name starts with a "K", not a common letter in Pt, I spent my childhood answering the question "Why does your name start with a K?" Every single time I filled a form, signed a paper or played a sport.. for what I would always proudly answer: "Because I am American, I was born in the US!" And even if I feel "more Portuguese" culture-wise. I love the fact that I am Portuguese and American, I am always proud to nominate both when I get the question "Where are you from?" But right now, I am ashamed. Even saying: "If that guy wins I am flying back to Europe." Feeling uncomfortable. (Also feeling lucky, because at least with double citizenship I can get away. Although, I got some coworkers saying they would be coming with me.)

"How did I become the person I hated?!" My thought this morning when I saw everybody "running" (New Yorkers Pace) after I got off the Path Train. I laughed by myself after this thought. And then I started walking fast as per contagio. Funny Me. I have missed you New York. - written by me on Sept 30,16 while grabbing my coffee and enjoying the so missed New York bagel // picture Oct 1,16 Bos Restaurant 21st
