Not everything needs to be a full story, you know?

If you have just one or two scenes that you’re really excited about, you can just write those. You don’t have to create a full WIP to contain them if you don’t want.

You can create characters without putting them into a project, they can just exist.

You can worldbuild for a universe that you never write about.

If there’s a trope you really want to write, but you don’t have a project to put them in… You can just write the best parts of that trope on its own.

Even if you do have a story and there’s parts you don’t want to write, it’s okay to just write the parts that you’re excited about. You don’t need to write the other parts and make it a full story.

I feel like in writing, there’s a lot of emphasis put on completion and writing a full story.

Completion or a full story doesn’t always have to be the purpose or goal. It’s okay and wonderful to just let something exist on its own without anything else.

It's Mickey Mouse's birthday once again, which means it's time for my annual Mickey tribute piece. With Epic Mickey Rebrushed being released this year, it was only natural that Epic Mickey be the focus for this year (I had already done a tribute for Epic Mickey 2 back in 2022 for that game's 10th anniversary).

However, to be honest I was actually pretty stumped while making this. The original Epic Mickey is one of my favorite games of all time, it would later provide heavy inspiration for my webcomic Think Ink, so I wanted to do it justice, but it was a struggle for me as to what to include in this piece.

Do I try to include all of the locations into one picture? Do I focus more on the choices angle with Mickey relying on either paint or thinner? Do I focus on the relationship between Mickey and Oswald? It was hard to figure out what could best represent the whole game because there's so much in that game. It eventually got so overwhelming that I didn't work on this until the 17th, one day before Mickey's anniversary.

Sometimes that last minute rush can help you best make a decision, so I decided to focus on the Blot here. In addition I tried to match the Mary Blair inspired look of the game's cutscenes.

One touch I really love here is using the original poster for "Steamboat Willie" as the ground the characters stand on here. Somehow Mickey, Oswald, and Gus standing on (or in Gus' case, floating over) Walt Disney and Ub Iwerk's credits feels very fitting.

Happy 96th Anniversary Mickey! Only 4 more and you'll hit the big 100 (hopefully it will be a better celebration than your studio's 100th).

I’ve seen The Nightmare Before Christmas like hundreds of times but this season for some reason I am vibing with the mayor because I too am only able to emote two faces and can’t making any decisions by myself

I contribute to a program for Twitch called Stream Avatars that lets chat run and play around as various characters. I’ve added and edited a number of characters from the casts of Marvel, DC, and Star Wars, to Jack Skellington, SpongeBob, and Scooby-Doo. Not all the characters pictured below are my work, but I did make all the Star Wars and DC characters aside from the Teen Titans. I’m getting nothing out of it besides my own enjoyment and wishing others have the same using them on their streams.

I suppose this falls under the fanart category already mentioned, but still worth going into detail with how much fun it’s been, let alone the love my DC collection got on the Steam Workshop.

Most sprites are taken from all sorts of games, but a select few sprites I did edit extensively, such as editing Boba Fett to create The Mandalorian, and Superman to create Omni-Man.

A new mode of production arises out of the newly networked masses.

I know it’s likely not happening, but I wouldn’t be opposed to James McAvoy and/or Michael Fassbender coming back as Charles and Erik for whatever’s being cooked up for the MCU X-Men.

I lowkey think this misconception was a major thing the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy has done to DC as a whole.

And while Zack Snyder took it even further, I feel it should be just as much attributed to Nolan. The fact that every live-action Joker since has felt like an effort to be replicating Heath Ledger’s portrayal in some form or another isn’t helping.
