Made a comic for a workshop I took. 

Here is my artist statement to go with it:

“Fosta/Sesta is a legislative acronym that stands for “Fighting Online Sex Trafficking Act” and “Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act.” These names seem like a god sent solution but they could mean nothing but hell for many people. This act not only limits your internet freedom through censorship but through that censorship it is causing sex workers, women and men who chose this line of work, to lose safe and consensual modes of work, and allowing the real danger, human traffickers, to become invisible. Not many people knew about this legislation and not many people wanted to vote against something titled so honorable but this bill puts people in the dark, there is nothing honorable in censorship, there is nothing honorable in negligence just because the negative impacts don’t impact you.��

There are so many injustices that are swept under the rug, this is just one of them. I didn’t know about it until I met someone directly impacted with this. I know I can go through most of my days not having to worry about my life being severely impacted, I’m lucky. There are too many people out there who are being thrown around like they’re nothing, like their lives don’t matter, because their lives don’t matter to a select few. Those select few claim they want things to change, they want a safer world but to them that means a world they control completely and a world that they can eradicate “problematic” types of people from. However, when we help those in the margins we truly help everyone.
