We all know that things are really dire in Gaza and food is super expensive. But exactly how bad are things?

Basic necessities in Gaza can get up to 300% their usual price. 1 kg of sugar can get up to $60 in Gaza, and other foodstuff like fruit and vegetables can be even more expensive! And prices are only going up! Now can you see why I am so worried about Mahmoud's 17 family members (@mahmoudfamily1) in Gaza? He has 10 children in Gaza right now while his gofundme campaign barely has any donatioins, and has only managed to reach 3% of its target even though he has had it since May!

And it's not just food. Tent supplies and materials are also really expensive. His family had to spend $900 just to make sure the tent can better shield them from the cold and the flooding, but their tent was completely destroyed in a bombing! Now they have no shelter, nothing to protect them from the cold and heavy rain of the coming winter. With food and other necessities so expensive, this is a very huge blow to the family!

They have already lost relatives, including a 1-month-old baby, to the bombing. I worry for the 10 children, they are so young. With basic necessities getting up to 300% their usual price, I really don't want these young children to have to choose between having the medical supplies to treat their wounds, being warm, or having food to eat!

you cant ever really be healthy and doing well with only one of these things missing. food, health, shelter, things easily taken for granted yet very important. but for a lot of people, this poll is a reality of life they must face everyday for months, even years on end.

one of those people are @mahmoudfamily1 and his family. seventeen people, ten kids. they can barely afford necessities, and have lost relatives including a one month old baby. they are homeless, not even a tent to their name because it was bombed to nothing!

Our Story: A Call for Help

Dear friends in this post I explain my family story in short:

My family has endured extreme hardship. We were forced to flee our home in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza as bombs and missiles rained down around us. Seeking refuge, we moved to Nuseirat, which was believed to be a safe zone. Unfortunately, our temporary shelter was directly hit by an airstrike, resulting in the tragic loss of an entire family in the neighboring apartment and in my family apartment the martyrdom of a woman and her two children Several members of my family were also injured, some severely.

Since then, we’ve been displaced over 10 times, constantly fleeing the relentless and random bombardments wherever we went. Our most recent displacement came when our tent was destroyed in another airstrike. Now, we are homeless, living in an uninhabitable location in Nuseirat.

I am reaching out to ask for your help. My family consists of 17 people, including 10 children, who are in urgent need of shelter, food, and medical care. Your support will bring much-needed relief and hope as we continue to fight for safety and survival in these devastating circumstances.

My family is living a true nightmare. Emergency Appeal: My Family Faces Constant Danger—We Need Your Help Now

My family is enduring unimaginable horror. Our shelter at Nuseirat Camp was bombed multiple times, destroying the little we had and leaving us homeless. Now, 17 of us, including 10 young children, are trapped in a cycle of fear and survival under relentless bombardment.

We are living in constant danger, without adequate shelter, and at risk of cold, hunger, and disease. Despite the destruction, we are holding on—but just barely. With winter closing in and resources becoming even scarcer, our situation is becoming more desperate every day.

So far, we have managed to raise CAD $2601, but it’s not nearly enough. We urgently need to reach our goal of CAD $7,500 to provide for our family. Prices have skyrocketed over 300%, making basic survival a daily battle.

Every passing moment increases the risk to our lives, especially for our children. They have already endured too much, and now, without a safe place to call home, they face an even greater threat.

Our family members have so much potential, but the genocide has stolen their future:

Zakaria, a high school student who dreams of becoming a doctor, has lost a year of school and is at risk of losing another. He studies under the sounds of drones and bombs, hoping for a chance to leave Gaza and continue his education abroad.

Mohammad, our pharmacist, who graduated before the genocide, now has no opportunity to use his knowledge.

Raghad, a medical student who has completed two years but is struggling to keep going amidst the devastation.

Ahmed, another medical student, who has finished three years and now faces overwhelming obstacles to continue.

Haya, a pharmacy student whose final year of studies was abruptly stopped by the genocide.

These are not just dreams—they are lives at risk of being completely destroyed.

Zakaria has always dreamed of becoming a doctor, a dream that now feels almost unreachable due to the ongoing war and genocide. Last year, he was supposed to complete his final year of high school, but because of the mass destruction and violence, he never got the chance to study. Time is passing, and without the right conditions, Zakaria may lose another year of education.

One of Zakaria’s biggest hopes was to leave Gaza and continue his studies abroad. However, the cost of leaving is far beyond our family’s means. We are aiming to raise 7,500 CAD (around 5,000 EUR) to help Zakaria get out of Gaza and continue his education, if the opportunity arises.

Despite the unimaginable conditions, Zakaria has managed to collect a few schoolbooks and is studying on his own, hoping to complete his high school education this year. He studies under the constant bombardment, surrounded by the sounds of drones, missiles, and the devastation of war—conditions no one should have to endure while trying to learn.

Zakaria is one of the 17 members of MahmoudFamily, and he deserves the chance to fulfill his dreams like any other student in the world. With your support, we can help Zakaria escape this ongoing genocide and continue his education in a safe environment.
