Some fabulous shots from our dear friend, affiliate business, & #Midwest #LORAXCommunity organising partner @lolasbotanicals' amazing #veganic #wildcrafting excursion preceding yesterday's presentation for @VeganEarth in #Cincinnati! This is a way of life for Lola and her family, and an essential element of their own personal experience of "Consciousness & Sustainability for ALL" which we felt privileged to share with the wonderfully receptive audience at yesterday's #vegan event. Many thanks to all who attended, it was a great privilege to have shared our bounty and spoken with so many of you! #Repost @lolasbotanicals with @repostapp ・・・ #wildfoodlove #foraging #chanterelles and #stjohnswort ... Amazingly detailed, concise, and FUN #VeganDIY #almondmilk #tutorial vid Repost from @the_vegan_connoisseur - "I posted this on my snapchat and decided to share my #RawAlmondMilk w you guys as well! I managed to make this video in 13 seconds, so you might have to watch it a few times lol. Basically, I soaked my Raw, Unpasturized Almonds for 24 hours in @mountainvalleywater, then rinsed. Blended it in my #VitamixProfessionalSeries750 (2 cups almonds to 7 cups MVSW) for about a minute (You can also use your slow juicer). Used my nut milk bag to squeeze the milk out and remove all the excess from the almonds.. Gathered a few ingredients to sweeten it up: 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp vanilla powder 8 medjool dates 1 tbsp cacao powder (since I made chocolate milk 😜) Re-blended & placed in mason jars. So easy & such a better alternative if you have all the right ingredients & tools! I'll probably be posting more stuff like this, since I have a lot of people requesting ;) #greeNeryliving" We love this, @the_vegan_connoisseur, and can't wait to see what you'll show us next!

Food is medicine! When cooking "conventionally" grown commercial produce, pesticides & other poisonous agricultural chemicals used in production are consumed in concentrated (potentially toxic) doses. Yet another excellent reason to #eatrealfood, #growyourown, buy #farmdirect, choose #organic whenever possible, & always say #NOtoGMO.

Native tribes of North America are very nearly lost entirely, largely due to rapid spread of consumer-driven imperialism. Sadly, indigenous people of Bolivia are facing a similar plight thanks to a popular "health food" fad.
 Quinoa Grain:
Prices are at an all-time high, as foodies around the world seem to have developed a taste for this 'miracle grain of the Andes.'
In Lima (Peru), quinoa now sells at a higher price per pound than flesh foods, other animal-derived products, and far less healthful hybrid/modified grains.
Once a nourishing staple for the insolvent peoples of Peru and Bolivia, this protein-rich grain is now far too expensive for them to afford to feed their families.
As demand continues to rise, pressure is on to transform a once diverse variety of crops into quinoa monoculture.
If you must use quinoa, please be sure to buy from truly sustainable sources in locations other than the Andes. We recently learned of quinoa production in Canada, and are continuing our quest to become better informed about alternative resources for this seed grain. Until a time when better resources become quite common, we are more than happy to stick with buckwheat and other healthful foodstuffs grown on U.S. soil which easily suit similar purposes.
Please continue to learn about this issue by taking a moment to read through these related articles:

The aubergine is technically a fruit, often classified as a berry. The small seeds inside bear a slightly bitter taste because it contains the alkaloid nicotinoid, as eggplant is a close relative of tobacco. Some of its higher points are as follows: • Very low in saturated fat • No cholesterol • Very low in sodium • Very high in dietary fiber • Very high in manganese • High in magnesium • High in niacin • High in pantothenic acid • High in phosphorus • Very high in potassium • High in thiamin • High in vitamin B6 • High in vitamin C For a fab raw/vegan Mediterranean recipe combo, please check out my post on Spicy Almond Hoummous & Baba Ghanouj (which also includes the enlarged version of this infographic).

Trick-or-treat! This crafty little trick for repurposing orange peels will be a real treat for visiting birds, squirrels, and other little sweeties who stop by for a visit. This is a fun and easy way to repurpose citrus peels for those of us who are inclined to compulsively juice oranges and grapefruits every day (guilty as charged! ~RV). All you need are a few simple ingredients, a bit of free time for crafting, and a desire to see some happy little animals having a good bit of fun with their new feeding toys! Here is a detailed outline of the pictorial instructions above: You will need:
Fresh organic oranges, grapefruit, or other reasonably large citrus
Citrus juicer
Food dehydrator (may also air or sun dry, which can possibly take longer depending upon temperature and humidity of surroundings)
Thread
Needle
Scissors
Sharpie
Organic* toasted oats (the holes are essential if you wish to stock the thread with extra munchies for your wilderness crew) or popcorn. *Why organic for the animals? Because GMO is sketchy for our planet & everyone who lives here!
Preparation & Assembly:
Halve & juice citrus fruits.  1a. Drink & enjoy juice!     1b. If citrus juicer does not clear the peels entirely, use a ridged   citrus spoon to clean away the remainder of fruit & pulp.
Place cleared citrus halves onto tray and leave to dry for 24 hours
Draw faces on halves with sharpie.
Thread a needle and poke through one side of citrus shell (from the inside).
(Optional) thread cereal or popcorn together before poking needle back through on the other side of peel.
Hang each bowl from a tree branch, or set in tree nooks where animals are inclined to visit.
Fill bowls with organic seeds, nuts, popcorn, or more cereal for visitors to enjoy.
