That’s not “protecting” anyone. She wasn’t in any danger. This boils down to “if someone says something you don’t like, you’re allowed to hit that person”. Nope. Sorry if someone’s feelings get hurt, but we literally teach toddlers that you can’t put your hands on another person just because they said something you don’t like. I had no idea she had alopecia, and Chris Rock probably didn’t either. and even if anyone DID know it, that’s still not reason to hit someone. No other person in that room turned to physical violence because of someone else’s words. Will, who I always felt was probably a pretty good human being, clearly has emotional issues, and if any regular person had done that (particularly in a public forum, on television) that person would have been ejected immediately, and the police would have been involved. Someone’s unwelcome opinion is not cause for violence. Btw, for what it’s worth, my mother dealt with alopecia for years. Would she have been ok with me hitting someone who made a joke about it? Hell no.

I’m immediately seeing half the people out there posting things like “Harvey Weinstein has X amount of Oscars and they never took them away”… Will Smith attacking someone on live tv in front of an audience is assault, and has nothing to do with anyone else. If Harvey Weinstein had done any of his disgusting behaviors during the Oscar ceremony in front of people he’d have been called out for it. The typical human being had no idea who he even was, let alone what was going on behind the scenes What he did was wrong and horrible, but has zero to do with Will Smith publicly assaulting a comedian. If you told me that this happened behind the scenes a few hours later I’d probably look at this a little differently, but across the board the “woke” types seem to be responding with “good! you are correct for attacking someone who said something you don’t like”, and that’s disgusting.

I haven’t posted on here in a trillion years... I’ve never been that good at being social, and for a while tumblr seemed like a good place for an outlet... but honestly, I never got very good at it, and now this place is fairly unbearable.
I have no desire to interact with rampant bots, trolls, increasingly tribally-minded people with opinions that aren’t based upon facts or real-life experiences (which sums up how I would describe both sides of the most vocal political spectrum today)... there are people that will defend actions such as everything tweeted by Donald Trump regardless of any sort of basic fact-checking that proves his ramblings to be baseless or outright childish lying... then there’s the social justice warriors that make absolutely every topic about inequality based upon race, religion, gender, ethnicity, etc., because they only view the world through the filter of “those who are oppressing others and those who are oppressed”...
Those two descriptions apply to the exact same type of person, just on the opposite sides of the coin. They’re exactly the same as each other and don’t bother to see it. Everything is taken out of context in a predetermined binary frame of mind: programming based on what group they identify with, they fall into lock-step with the group, and then decide “everything my group believes is correct, and everything the other side believes is evil”. And neither side ever seems to start by looking in the mirror and making their own life something meaningful. The people that are generally doing something meaningful for themselves, and those around them, making life better in some way, making it worth living and putting up with all the garbage that happens out there in the world, rather than just criticizing absolutely everything that has ever existed by one specific standard that exists today (as if they themselves won’t be looked upon by history as well, 25, 50, or 100 years from now).
So for those of you whose posts consist of archeological digs, paintings, nature photography, classic literature, motorcycles, sculptures, cute pets, scientific discoveries, delicious food, laughing babies, musical instruments, astrological events... thank you. You’re the reason I still look at this site (mostly on an app called imgTumble).
I’m only posting this because I had a few messages in my inbox, all asking “where are you, are you still on tumblr?”. I am, but I’m not. I look, but have no desire to involve myself in people’s absurdity. Again, for those asking: yes, I’m still a fitness trainer, still a yoga teacher, still teaching karate and jiu jitsu to children and adults, still practicing Japanese swordsmanship, still practicing Aiki Ju Jutsu, still playing guitar, still love cooking, and currently doing several of the things listed above at a boarding school for teenagers with learning disabilities. I’m a little less active than I like to be at the moment because I’m getting ready for knee surgery (torn ACL). It’s slowed me down for the moment, but I’m not down for the count.
To anyone that sees this and doesn’t like what I have to say, that’s fine, that’s your opinion. You don’t have to agree with me, that’s your right. If you saw this and resonate with it in some way, that’s fine too. I hope there are other people out there that also notice the same thing on this site, and are living their lives at a higher standard than the out-of-context, everything-is-bad, blame-everyone-for-everything mentality that seems so rampant on tumblr.
*Also, perhaps because I haven’t posted in so long, I’ve lost the ability to post? Let's see if I can submit it to myself instead...
