Tutorial on drawing characters/OCs who have some sort of facial paralysis. It doesn't cover all possible variants because I was using mirror as my main reference lawl
Keep in mind that this is an introductory drawing tutorial and has some generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People 👍
Consider supporting me on ko-fi if you find this to be helpful.

When the villain comes to Wei Wuxian like "Oh yeah? You and what army??" And Wei Wuxian is like "watch this b*tch" and creates a whole paper doll legion.
(Oh, yeah, and then Hanguang Jun arrives, like, the main hero, and protects Wei Wuxian and then everybody knows they're fucked.)

Hey, random writing tip: Instead of having something be a ridiculously unlikely coincidence, you can make the thing happen due to who this particular character is as a person. Instead of getting stuck on "there's no logical reason to why that would happen", try to bend it into a case of "something like this would never happen to anybody but this specific fucker." Something that makes your reader chuckle and roll their eyes, going "well of course you would."
Why would the timid shy nerd be at a huge sketchy downtown black market bazaar? Well, she's got this beetle colony she's raising that needs a very specific kind of leaf for nest material, and there only place to get it is this one guy at the bazaar that sells that stuff. Why would the most femininely flamboyant guy ever known just happen to have downright encyclopedic knowledge about professional boxing? Well, there was this one time when he was down bad for this guy who was an aspiring professional boxer...
I know it sounds stupidly obvious when written out like this, but when you're up close to your writing, it's hard to see the forest for the trees. Some time ago I finished reading a book, where the whole plot hinges on character A, who is 100% certain that character B is dead, personally getting up and coming down from the top rooms of a castle, to the gates, at 3 am, to come look at some drunk who claims to be this guy who died 17 years ago. Why would A do that, if he's sure that B is dead?
Because he's a Warrior Guy from a culture of Loyalty And Honour, and hearing that someone's got the audacity to go about claiming to be his long-lost brother in battle, there is no other option than to immediately personally go down there to beat the ever-loving shit out of this guy. Who then turns out to actually be character B, after all.

Have you ever wanted to type with SWORDS????
Then I have THE font for you!!!

LET ME INTRODUCE Y'ALL TO BARBARIAN!!!
This font is so fucking fun. A couple of years back I was looking for a font to use for the title of my 2nd published book. And seeing as it was a compilation of mostly swords-and-sorcery-type fantasy stories, of fucking course I needed a cool font.
And Barbarian damn well delivered.
This font is absolutely awesome. You start with the capital letters being your sword handle and pommel. The lowercase letters act as the extensions of the sword, and you can put several words on a sword, too!

There isn't any punctuation, but who the hell needs punctuation when you've got swords????
So anyway, go and have fun!! Type in swords! Have a longsword fight of strongly-worded messages between your friends! The possibilities are endless!!
The link above goes to the DaFont page, which is by the author where they explain at the top to donate to $5 if you want to use this commercially. But I'd also say if you want to, donate to help them out or just because this is a cool fucking font that deserves WAY more recognition than it has.
May this make your day a bit better because everyone can use some swords. Swords make life better.

A Dark and Terrible Gift
I haven’t written fanfiction in literal years, but these devils and these minions won’t leave my head. Whoops. Uh. Here have a fic about Armand turning Daniel and being really angsty about it.
TW: Canon typical blood/gore/violence
Armand didn’t realize what he had done until he felt Daniel grow limp in his arms. Once trembling limbs dangled uselessly towards the broken tile floor while the strength returned to Armand’s own.
He wrenched himself away from Daniel’s neck, careless, tearing the flesh and causing a new river of blood to spill down the journalist’s already soaked torso. With mounting horror, Armand watched as the light rapidly faded from his beloved’s eyes and his chest rattled with a final breath.
No. No, no, no, no, no. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. He saved him. He saved him. He saved Daniel from this fate. He let Daniel go. He let his boy live a life free from the curse of a living death. He gave him the chance to live free from the curse of Armand’s love: the monstrous, dark, horrible thing it was. But here was proof that yet again, Armand had failed. He could not prevent it. He could not spare his most precious love from the calamity that befell all Armand held dear.
Daniel was dead. Armand had killed him.
Armand didn’t think about this next part either. How could he? There was no time. He ripped through his own wrist with animalistic savagery, nearly tearing through tendon and bone with his fangs. He forced the ruined mess into Daniel’s mouth, the blood pooling and spilling past his beloved’s lips.
Words failed him. He couldn’t form them in his desperation, his terror. Drink, Armand commanded, forcing the thought into Daniel’s mind, still there, but fading. Daniel, you must drink. There was no response. Armand took matters into his own hands, forcing Daniel’s throat to swallow, his mouth to latch on, his body to accept this gift so that Daniel might live.
There was a shudder, and for one terrible moment, Armand thought that this was it. A final twitch of death while his love passed from one plane to the next to a place where Armand could not follow. He felt the coldness of eternity stretch before him, the loneliness that threatened to engulf him, the knowledge that he was nothing more than a monster created to destroy all that he loved.
Daniel choked.
A hand grabbed Armand’s mangled arm, pulling it closer, fighting for control of his body. Armand startled, letting go of the puppet strings and allowing Daniel to swallow on his own, greedily, as he took back the very blood Armand stole from him. Armand could do nothing but stare as the life came back to Daniel’s body.
Finally, Daniel wrenched himself away, falling backwards onto the tile below. Armand was floating. When did that happen? Before? When he had first latched on to Daniel’s throat? It was all a blur.
Daniel looked up at him finally, eyes reflecting the overhead light of the penthouse. Violet. The color of a sunrise for a kindly day. The primary color in one of the first paintings Louis ever purchased. The color of a velvet ribbon that once tied back Lestat’s hair. The color of a pigment he used to mix in his Maestro’s workshop with the other boys. The color of a garment worn by a woman who might’ve been his mother, gentle hands on a scraped knee.
The color stood out against the red that soaked Daniel to his core. It was everywhere. Coating his skin, staining his clothes, running through the soft curls on his head, smeared against his now useless glasses, dripping from his mouth that now revealed two long, pointed canine teeth.
If Armand could have wretched, he would.
His vow had been broken. He had doomed his beloved to a fate worse than death and for what? His own selfishness? His fear of losing that which was most precious to him?
He had damned Daniel from the start. Ever since he sought him back out after San Francisco, unable to free his mind from the image of a young, foolish, fascinating boy. He should have left Daniel alone. He should have forgotten all about him. But no, no, that wasn’t possible. Armand loved him and that marked him for death.
Daniel rose and took an unsteady step closer. Then another, his movements gaining confidence as he quickly acclimated to his new vampiric body. He looked at ease. He looked strong. He looked happy. He looked like he was born to be a vampire.
Panic gripped Armand’s chest, threatening to send him spiraling past the point of no return. Daniel stood in front of him now, staring defiantly up at him. He didn’t need telepathy to know what Daniel was thinking. I win, echoed through the long corridors of his mind, filling in for the thoughts he could no longer hear, I finally win, motherfucker. Daniel reached up, nearly touching Armand’s face.
Armand ran.

“Anderson argues that Louis did not enter his romantic relationship with Armand out of spite — he feels there was a genuine love between them, and Armand represented a “calmer” and potentially more healthy partner than Lestat ever was.” - The Hollywood Reporter
“I think Louis has something else that lights a fire inside Armand again…He’s enthralled and enraptured by Louis at this point, definitely, for sure.” - Assad Zaman, Autumn Brown Interview
“Vampires are the most human monsters. They really desperately want this happiness, and to be fulfilled. And Louis finds that with Armand, certainly, in episode 4.” - Adam O’Byrne, Episode Insider
“Lestat has never gone away. Lestat is there to pass judgement on decisions that Louis is making, and one of those is his falling in love with Armand.” - Mark Johnson, Episode Insider
“There’s an inevitability about Armand for Louis. It’s like, ‘he’s nice to me.’…as Louis sees it, Armand is not without complication, but is nowhere near as messy as Lestat…With Armand, it’s like ‘we can coexist nicely, and I care about you’…Lestat is his great love. I think he does love Armand, but in a different way.” - Jacob Anderson, Collider
“This is a new dynamic for Louis and Armand together as a couple, but also, Armand's relationship with his coven because of the choice he's made in choosing love, in choosing his pursuit and happiness with Louis.” - Assad Zaman, Entertainment
“For Armand, I think in that moment, that’s Louis seeing Armand for the child that he is, for the sort of innocent that he is, and that’s what makes Armand melt…He kind of sees Louis as his protector.” - Assad Zaman, Katie O’Shaughnessy Interview
“This is really representing Louis letting go of Lestat so he can move on and build a relationship and new persona with Armand.” - Sam Reid, TV Guide
“Armand is seemingly calmer, and kind of a more, I think, gentle creature.” - Jacob Anderson, 92NY Panel
“I think he also got into that relationship knowing that there was an edge to Armand, but he kind of just chose to focus on the sides of him that were gentle and sweet and seemingly the opposite of any of the relationships that he’s had so far.” - Jacob Anderson, TV Insider
“Louis has such a curiosity and zest for life, still, and curiosity about the purpose, and I think Armand has lost that, or keeps losing it…I think there’s a light in Louis that, I don’t know if Armand understands what it is, but he just wants it, he just wants it because it keeps him going.” - Assad Zaman, ATX TV Festival
“But I think that scene in Magnus’ dungeon tower is the beginning of the spike in Louis and Armand’s relationship. I think he continues the relationship with Armand out of spite for the next 70 years.” - Jacob Anderson, The Hollywood Reporter
“…Everybody in the room relives their worst fight with someone they shouldn’t have been in love with but wanted to be; that’s the episode you come up with.” - Rolin Jones, Vulture
“The real tragedy of Armand is that even with Louis, he hasn’t fully given himself, shown himself, and revealed himself. I think, if you can’t be true to yourself and to the person you claim to love the most, if they can’t trust you to be authentic, how can you ever really be authentic?” - Assad Zaman, Autumn Brown Interview
