No matter how much I adore the whole "Eddie was Steve's bi awakening" trope, the idea of Steve knowing before Eddie came into the picture is so special to me.

Eddie blatantly flirting and sending him looks and smiles and getting into his personal space and calling him "big boy", and Steve knowing exactly what's going on, but they are kinda in the middle of a possible world-ending Vecna-domination scenario so he gotta put what's happening on hold for the moment.

Cue Eddie's complete and utter shock when he's out of the hospital and Steve Harrington shows up on his doorstep asking him out on a date, very confused why this is such a surprise to Eddie, "Dude what, am I reading this wrong, have you not been flirting with me this whole time?!" meanwhile Eddie's hyperventilating 'cos from his perspective he was just recklessly flirting with the pretty straight boy not expecting to face any consequences because he didn't think he'd survive.

Having broken up, but still living in the same area they keep running into each other. At the park, the grocery store, the laundromat, … everywhere.

They are still in the same friend group and they want to make it work as friends. But hanging out all the time makes it hard to get over each other.

Person A moves to another apartment and finds some of Person B’s, their exes’ stuff while moving and the former lovers meet up for the first time since the break-up to exchange the goods.

While not having adopted it together, Person A’s pet becomes miserable after Person B stops being over, so finally they have to arrange for a meeting in a park, like two divorced parents.

They are still each other's emergency contact. Which becomes apparent when one of them ends up in the hospital.

Having their car breaking down by the side of the road is bad enough. Their ex being the one to come save them is even worse.

They had already booked everything for their friends' destination wedding before they broke up. To celebrate them and not lose their deposits they decide to still share the hotel room.

Person A’s family still invites Person B to all of their family events. And Person B actually goes.

They bought tickets for their favourite band’s concert one year in advance. It’s been a few months since their break-up and they believe the emotions have calmed down a bit, so they decide to still go together when the time comes. But maybe they don’t have calmed down that much, when their song comes on.

They know each other best. Even after their break-up their ex is still the first person they want to call when something good or bad happens.

while i still can't decide on what the funniest part of disco elysium is i think the whole bit with the alphabet book is up there. describing it doesn't even do it justice but like. it's the way harry goes "let's do this" "mmhm" "yeah!" while slowly and thoughtfully reading the alphabet in his head. how every letter is represented by some obscure fuckass discoelysiumey word like AZIMUTH or PERIHELION even though it's a kids book but X is still for xylophone because of course it is. how you can immediately go tell kim you know the alphabet now and he goes "good. i also know the alphabet." and the fucking esprit the corps check going "it is a very useful skill to have, he thinks. for all sorts of life activities. like reading, and..." and that's the end of the scene and it doesn't even give you exp or anything but at least you can sleep well tonight knowing you taught harry du bois the alphabet. congratulations

honestly i like to imagine steve as a much happier, more accepted member of his friend group but the whole show is just a game of kids on bikes that eddie is running and steve's ass is NOT paying attention. eddie's first session steve is like yeah i wanna play the hot asshole and everyone laughs and he forgets his character backstory halfway through the boss fight. next two seasons he's getting his nails painted by erica and robin and keeps getting clowned on for not remembering any of the plot. he keeps rolling like dogshit, and the joke is that their cool loved friend steve is playing a guy who doesnt know what the fuck is going on and can't win a fight to save his life. character steve makes it through every campaign with one hit point and a dream.

they finally bully eddie into including himself since he insists on everyone playing themselves for this stupid joke game and steve immediately gives up on pretending to know what's going on in the game and just figures out how he can maximize his flirting time w/ his own boyfriend. eddie kills his own npc at the end so he can stop playing himself. dustin throws a notebook at his head bc he had to hear eddie call steve big boy w his own ears for NOTHING. steve is like yeah uh since my boyfriend fucking died i'm going to try to steal jonathan's girlfriend again.

oh and the steve and jonathan fighting over nancy thing is just a stupid joke that steve and jonathan made at the beginning of the game because steve and jonathan have been best friends since elementary school. they like to cause problems on purpose. they honestly thought nancy would shoot them down but they didnt know that SHE was the one who taught MIKE everything he knows about the finer points of roleplay. she hates drama in real life but LOVES it in her games.

jonathan at the end of season four like "who else was going to lead the party? steve? he couldn't explode a d4 in the last three sessions combined" and steve is fully half asleep in robin and eddie's laps like hey >:( (pssst ed what does that mean)
