Think I'm going to combine the Shadow Rising and Fire Shadows au into one! The possibilities are kinda wild for this one...

Have some fun worldbuilding tidbits because I'm bored and feel like sharing!
First of all the clans have a zodiac! Whether you are an air/fire/earth/water sign is based on the season you are born in, and your specific sign is the weather when you were born. For example, Crookedstar is a winter flood sign, while Thistleclaw is a summer cloud sign.
Another fun thing is that groups of apprentices who are trained together have names! In WindClan they're runs, in ShadowClan gangs, RiverClan gaggles, and ThunderClan branches. For example, Firestar's branch consists of Dustpelt, Sandstorm, Greystripe, Darkstripe, Ravensong, Swiftstorm, and Cinderpelt.
Cats also have guardians, inspired by godparents. Basically, while it varies by clan, if a kit's parent(s) die then the guardian is responsible for them. Goldenflower chose Lionheart as the guardian of Swiftkit and Cinderkit, while Sandstorm chose Dustpelt for her kits.

I really am so excited for TNP like I touched on some changes in the previous post but that doesn't even mention SkyClan! Or the cats at the lake! Or Hawkfrost! Or-
0 notes
Note
what are you most excited for in tnp? have the tnp cats changed much from canon? i really liked the idea of tnp but thought it could have been done better in canon. and also, who’s your fav cat from the journey gang? mine’s stormfur.
Ty for the ask anon!!
I'm most excited for settling at the lake bit, I think, because spoiler alert there are other cats already living there 👀
Some major changes from canon: Leopardstar steps down as leader and Blackstar isn't leader either, Feathertail doesn't die, Crowfeather is like 20% less of an asshole (eventually). The Tribe is completely different from canon too btw- they live by the sea and Sharpclaw is a deity like Midnight and Rock, for one.
My favourite journey gang cat is also probably Stormfur! Shoutout to Purdy though lmao

Reblogging for new AUs!
Original Four:
Bluefur, Talltail, Yellowfang, and Crookedjaw have been granted powers from beyond, with only a vague warning from StarClan "to protect their clans from enemies within" guiding their actions. Follows whr with regard to Mapleshade's Vengeance, Foxpaw's Fate, and Goosepaw's Curse. Tagged as "original 4".
SkyClan's Journey:
An au where Cloudstar sends Firestar back in time to the last days of SkyClan in an effort to save his dying clan. Tagged as "skyclan's journey".
AU Intros!
Here is a brief introduction to each of my main current aus. All aus feature LGBTQ+ characters, naming systems, and accurate genetics.
Wind!Holly Rewrite:
AU where Hollyleaf is raised in WindClan, focusing on arcs 3 and 4. My own interpretation of canon, sometimes referred to as my general rewrite (usually in reference to events before Power of the Stars). All other aus use this one as a base up until arc 3. Early arcs feature a distant, unknowable StarClan whose very existence is sometimes doubted, while later arcs are closely related to the rising prominence of StarClan and the effects of their meddling in the world of the living. A bunch of kids are visited by spirits from beyond the grave, powers and prophecies abound, and family problems only complicate everything. Tagged as “whr”.
Royalty AU:
AU where leadership is inherited a la European primogeniture. Closely follows whr in most aspects. Not focused on any specific arc or character. Tagged as “royalty au”.
Shadow Rising:
An au where Darktail is the son of Sol and Blackstar and may or may not be part of the kin of your kin prophecy. Arc 3 and 4 focused, featuring a lineage system and SkyClan. Pre-arc 3 follows royalty au. Tagged as “shadow rising”.
Blood Skies:
AU where Tigerclaw succeeds in becoming ThunderClan’s leader and forms TigerClan, exiling Fireheart and his close followers. Fireheart establishes SkyClan at the gorge, and several moons later, receives a prophecy and a reminder that the clans still need him. Also, BloodClan is a thing. Arc 2 rewrite featuring completely different main characters (Whitepaw, anyone?). Lies and loyalty, royalty and revenge. Pre arc 1 follows whr. Tagged as “blood skies”.
Fire Shadows:
An enterprising Brokenstar sends patrols into Twolegplace to recruit/kidnap cats into ShadowClan. A young kittypet, eager to see what lies beyond his fence, joins ShadowClan, and becomes Firepaw, Brokenstar’s own apprentice. Arc 1 focused. Pre arc 1 follows whr. Tagged as “fire shadows”.
Warriors asoiaf au:
Human!warriors a la the a Song of Ice and Fire/Game of thrones books. By definition, it features human cats, lineages, magic, politics, and dragons. Also the timeline gets really wonky with this one but it all works out in the end. Primarily arc 1 focused. Tagged as “warriors asoiaf au”.

Did I mention the "Firestar is sent back in time to when SkyClan leaves the forest" au on here yet

Note
What AU are you must excited to explore further? All your ideas sound very interesting so I‘m curious which one is grabbing you the most at the moment? :)
Ty for asking, anon!
Currently, I'm really excited to work on my WHR, as I'm almost done plotting arc 1, and I desperately want to write the journey gang. Overall, though, I'd love to work on the Original Four and Blood Skies aus, as I love the characters and the concepts behind them a lot.
Which au would you like to hear more about?

Note
Do you have any more info on the Original Four AU? It sounds so interesting, like what are Tallstar and Crookedjaw’s powers exactly and does Goosefeather still have his power in this AU, meaning he can relate/mentor Bluestar with her power? Would he force her to become a medicine cat like him? I know just just posted and might not have more info but it’s a really cool idea.
First thank you for your interest anon <3!
Tallstar has something between Jayfeather’s and Dovewing’s powers, where he can see through the eyes of other cats but cannot control what they say or do. Distance and how well he knows the cat affects his power.
Crookedstar meanwhile can make deals with the living and the dead- deals which cannot be broken. It starts when he makes a deal with Mapleshade as a kit, promising to always be loyal in exchange for becoming the greatest warrior in RiverClan. From that moment onwards, he can make these types of agreements with other cats, and once he figures this out, he becomes extremely careful in everything he says.
As for Bluestar and Goosefeather, I think I might actually change the trees a bit so Goose is her father (and obviously Moonflower wouldn’t be her mother). If I go with this, I think he’ll be adamant about her not being forced into becoming a seer. If I don’t, then I think he’ll want her as his apprentice regardless of what she wants- could be a fun Yellowfang parallel too, hm.
Anyway yes thank you anon, lmk if there’s anything else you wanna talk about!

Naming System
Naming conventions change over time. Pre Rookstar’s Revenge, for example, -stone cats were the pride of WindClan, even if the other Clans did not truly understand the suffix’s connotations. In this system, cats are named for their appearance at birth, not including eye colour, as all cats are born with blue eyes. Suffixes are earned based on skill, personality, or appearance. At birth, Clan cats have the -kit suffix; apprentices have the -paw suffix. Leaders have a special suffix in -star, given to them by StarClan during their leader ceremony. Cats cannot be named Sun-, Moon-, Star-, Thunder-, Wind-, River-, or Shadow-. Colour prefixes are never matched with -face. The only full name that is banned is Silverpelt.
Suffixes
-fur/pelt/stripe/spots: suffixes for cats that do not fit any other suffixes; -stripe cats must be tabbies and -spots cats must be spotted or flecked in some way (their prefixes should not already imply striping or spotting)
-face: a particularly attractive cat that does not fit any other suffix
-claw: an exceptional fighter
-fang: a great hunter and fighter
-whisker: an exceptional hunter
-strike: an exceptional warrior in every sense of the word; first used in Power of the Stars
-tail: a very agile cat
-foot: a very fast cat
-spring: a fast and agile cat; first used in Power of the Stars
-shade: a skilled tracker
-flower: a parental cat
-song: a great storyteller or orator
-wing: a great mentor
-stream: a skilled swimmer
-tooth: a skilled fisher; exclusive to RiverClan
-pool: an exceptional fisher and swimmer; exclusive to RiverClan
-stone: a skilled Tunneler; exclusive to WindClan; no longer used after Heatherstar’s ban on tunneling
-berry: a skilled healer good with herbs
-feather: a cat with a strong connection to StarClan
-leaf: an exceptional healer in every sense of the word
-cloud: a calm, levelheaded cat
-shine: a cheerful, optimistic cat
-storm: an opinionated, moral cat
-heart: a friendly, kind cat
-flight: a curious, confident cat; first used outside of WindClan in the New Prophecy
Name Changes
Cats who have been injured may request to change their name to reflect their new status. Name changes are considered honourable- they are symbols of pride to commemorate surviving death. Quite common pre The Prophecies Begin, they have recently fallen out of style.
-eye: for injured or missing eye(s)
-ear: for damaged ear(s)
-jaw: for damaged jaws or muzzles
-face: for facial injuries
-foot/leg: for injured legs or paws
-fur/pelt: for general injuries or particularly damaged pelts

So uh I have a new au whoops
The Original Four au focuses on Bluefur, Talltail, Crookedjaw, and Yellowfang, all young cats with mysterious powers. Their ancestors give them only a vague warning- protect your clans from enemies within.
Bluefur can see the dead, Crookedjaw can make deals, Yellowfang can sense pain, Talltail can see through others’ eyes. Unfortunately for them, their lives are a self fulfilling prophecy, and they become the enemies of their clans.

So I have finally, finally reached Into the Wild once again (post the Great Timeline Screwup that has been strangling my au docs)
Pictured is the family tree for ThunderClan at the start of Into the Wild, not including Firepaw
Everyone is related (some of them in multiple ways) which is ugh but hypothetically it shouldn’t be a problem? I think?
Feel free to hmu for explanations/more details 👀

ThunderClan Succession: The Complicated Reigns of Oakstar and Doestar (Shadow Rising AU)
Leader line: Oakstar- Larchface (Birchface)- Goldenspots (Frecklewish)
Deputy line: Beetletail (Beetail)- Briarwing (Sweetbriar)- Thrushfang (Thrushtalon)- Ryepelt (Seedpelt)
Most of the details surrounding the end of Oakstar’s reign have been lost to history, but described below is what is still known to the Clans. Following the death of Oakstar’s son and heir Larchface fighting RiverClan over Sunningrocks, Oakstar named a kit, Larchkit, his heir, believing the kit and his siblings to be Larchface’s children. Their mother was a warrior by the name of Mapleshade, and while her younger half brother was ThunderClan’s sole seer, she did not claim descent from any bloodlines. It is unknown where the idea that she was the mother of Larchface’s kits came from, but it rapidly spread throughout ThunderClan, and even to the other Clans. When Ravenwing, the Clan’s seer, revealed the truth of Larchkit, Toadkit (Petalkit), and Patchkit’s heritage, however, Oakstar threw Mapleshade and her children out of the Clan. Unfortunately, we do not know how Ravenwing learned the truth. Perhaps Mapleshade confided in him, her little brother? We do not know. All three kits drowned that same day when Mapleshade attempted to seek shelter in RiverClan with their real father. Seeking revenge, Mapleshade murdered Ravenwing, Goldenspots, and her RiverClan mate, before dying herself. Much about Mapleshade is lost to us, including her motive for lying about her kits’s heritage. It is one thing to hide the fact they are half Clan, but another entirely to say they are the deceased heir’s children. We may never know the full story.
Following the death of his only other relative and child, Goldenspots, Oakstar named his deputy Beetletail his heir and began to train him for the responsibility. While deputies do prepare for the scenario when they assume the Clan’s leadership, Oakstar went above and beyond to make sure his Clan would survive. It was during this period that, Beetletail’s nephew, Thrushfang, had a litter of his own- two daughters named Doekit and Deerkit. Soon after their apprenticeship, Oakstar took Beetletail’s sister Briarwing as his mate, and, to the surprise and joy of the entire Clan, had another litter with her, Volekit (who would eventually become Volefoot (Mumblefoot), and was deputy under Doestar until his death) and Spiderkit (who would become Spiderwhisker (Squirrelwhisker), and would be the subject of a great scandal).
A terrible leafbare followed this happy news, however, and brought sorrow with its snow. Deerpaw died first, followed by Ryepelt and Briarwing in quick succession. Oakstar died next, and Beetletail the day after, but that awful leafbare did not stop, and Thrushfang passed soon after. Finally, the deaths abated, and left three competing heirs in its wake. Doepaw was an apprentice well on her way to warriorhood, the only surviving descendant of Beetletail. Volekit and Spiderkit were barely four moons old, though they were Oakstar’s own children. The succession was determined by a single fact, however: Oakstar had named Beetletail his heir, and had never gone back and made Volekit his chosen heir. So, at the time of Oakstar’s death, Thrushfang was his heir, and with Thrushfang’s passing, the leadership passed to Doepaw. Doepaw was made a warrior that very day, and Doecloud became Doestar, and the Clan moved on.
Leader line: Doestar- Harewhisker (Harepounce)- Poppyheart (Poppydawn)- Speckletail- Rabbitshade (Rabbitleap)- Falconsong (Fallowsong)
Deputy line: Volefoot- Spiderwhisker- Dovefoot (Windflight)- Juniperfoot (Daisytoe)- Littleshine (Littlestep)
Doestar was the mother of two daughters, Harewhisker and Falconsong, and each molly had or were expecting children. Harewhisker had three young warriors in Poppyheart, Speckletail, and Rabbitshade, and Falconsong was in the nursery expecting a litter of her own. Doestar, however, announced one afternoon that neither child would succeed her. Rather, a dashing young tom by the name of Foxheart (Pineheart) would be her heir. For many years, the reasoning behind this decision was unknown, questioned and debated over, until towards the end of his life during the reign of Bluestar, an old and frail Goosefeather told his apprentice about his vision. Goosefeather has been plagued by messages from StarClan his entire life, and when he received a vision showing a flame-coloured tom leading the Clan, he told Doestar, who acted quickly and interpreted it as a sign that StarClan desired Foxheart to succeed her. Volefoot died soon after this decision, killed fighting a fox that was threatening the Clan, and Doestar made Foxheart deputy. Shortly after, Falconsong had three healthy sons in Sparrowkit, Birchkit, and Flykit. Another terrible leafbare, complete with starvation and sickness, befell ThunderClan, and Doestar, too, passed. Foxheart became Foxstar, and the whispers of prophecy murmured in his ears.
Next: The Reigns of Foxstar and Waspstar, and the Beginning of the Prophecy Leaders

Bloodlines and Succession: How Lineages Work
Several of my aus feature lineage systems, so I’d thought I’d make a post detailing how that works. This system is consistent across all lineage aus (asoiaf au works differently, so it gets its own post).
The basic outline is so:
Leader -> leader’s firstborn kit (heir) -> firstborn kit’s children in age order -> leader’s kits in age order -> leader’s siblings
If the leader has no kits, their eldest sibling will be heir. The leader may choose to disinherit their kin and choose another cat as heir, though this is very uncommon. If the leader has no kin, the deputy is heir, and if the deputy should succeed to leadership, their own family will become the new royal bloodline. Seers (medicine cats) also cannot have kits or inherit leadership, so they aren’t counted toward inheritance claims.
Here’s an example to illustrate! Rainstar is leader of ThunderClan, and she has two kits, Greyfur and Stormfoot. Greyfur is the eldest and heir. Greyfur and Oakwhisker have a litter of kits- Dustkit, Shadekit, and Flykit. Rainstar also has a sister, Sleetnose, and a brother, Willowleaf, who is the seer. Her deputy is Badgerclaw.
Rainstar dies and is succeeded by Greyfur. Dustkit becomes heir. However, greencough wipes out ThunderClan, and Greystar, Dustkit, Shadekit, and Flykit die. Oakwhisker, as she is not related by blood to Rainstar, does not become leader, but Stormfoot does. Stormstar dies soon after and Sleetnose becomes leader. Sleetstar dies, and as she has no kits or remaining kin, Badgerclaw becomes leader. Badgerclaw’s family becomes the next royal family. Willowleaf cannot become leader as he is a seer.
Finally, leaders can choose to keep their predecessor’s deputy or to replace them.
