A common question I get is "Which shirts are yours from East Coast Lifestyle?" I actually get to work on quite a few of them, but not all are my work start to finish. A lot of the time I'll meet with the team and they'll have ideas for me to work on. From there I do sketches and show mockups or rough drafts and we go back and forth until we have a finished design. Very few of those finished designs see production, and that's totally fine! This is completely normal in the design world, a lot of work goes without seeing the light of day. Over time, I've put together a portfolio section specifically for ECL on my website to showcase the projects I've been involved in. There are a lot of finished products, and there are a lot of sketches, like you see in the preview. This gives a good look at the work I do with them. I thought I’d post my first #artvsartist and along with it share a little about myself, so here we go: • I have always been into art and illustration, and even graphic design of some variety since before I knew what it was; writing, illustrating and stapling together storybooks since I could spell well enough to write a sentence • I travel a tiny bit, but I don’t quite understand wanderlust, I love being home on the east coast of Canada and I hope we never have to move • My favourite music ranges anywhere between AM radio maritime folk music and reggaeton • The older I get the more annoyed I get by people who label other people stupid, no matter who they are, and I am TRYING not to be this way myself • My favourite thing in the world is snuggles with @align450 and Georgie So now you know me a wee bit more! Here’s my weekend mini drawing! Again, these are kind of like my Inktober drawings just a tad bigger. The inktobers were 3.5” square and this is 5.5”. Might do some more baby ones soon. In light of... a lot of things going on this week, I've been thinking about Canada and how much I love it. And folks who know me well know that political discussion about Canada vs the US.. well let's just say it doesn't bring out the best in me (i absolutely hate facebook right now). So I decided to focus on everything I like about my country rather than everything I don't like about others. I like how annoyingly polite we are (I really do), I like our hospitality and kindness, our scenery and vast variety of outdoor terrain, the oceans forever being my favourite. I love the easy going temperament of east coasters and diverse cultures and styles of the west coast. I love soooo many things about this country. I love seeing new places but I am beyond blessed and could never fully express how grateful I am to be born and raised in such a place. So. All that being said, my fellow Canadians, if the label doesn't say "Made in Canada", put it back. Support this country. The weight of our problems do not lie on only our leaders' shoulders. It's on all of us to look after ourselves.
