Recently got into Castlevania.

If you know me or look at my blog, it should come as no surprise that Alucard is my favorite.

Can I just say, I don’t like the way people will over-sexualize Astarion.

Like yes okay- he’s feminine, flamboyant, and plays into a lot of gay stereotypes, and in media those types of characters are typically portrayed to be hyper sexual.

And yes, you do have sex in his first romance cutscene. However, he later tells you that he did that for manipulation purposes and that he doesn’t really want to be sexual anymore.

He talks about how a large part of his trauma was how he was forced to use his body to attract victims back to Cazador. For like 200 years he wasn’t given a choice of when to be sexual or not, and that in turn has made him realize that sex isn’t really something he wants, especially when he is trying to connect with and get to know someone he views as a possible partner.

After killing Cazador is when he finally feels ready to be intimate again, on his terms with someone he is sure he loves and wants to be with. Even then, if you want to visit the drow twins at the brothel he’ll join you but then doesn’t really enjoy the experience and just dissociates through it.

That all being said, Astarion reads as a demisexual character to me. Some say Asexual, but eh I don’t really see that. Gale and Halsin fit way better into the hypersexual category than Astarion does imo.

Anyway, this is all fiction and believe and interpret the characters however you want I guess.

Bg3 Body-Type Headcannons

Because 4 body types isn’t enough imo

(Keep in mind that these are all simply my opinions and nobody has to agree with me)

Karlach- The same as how Larian designed her, just more muscular in the arms.

Shadowheart- I like to think Shadowheart has a more pear-shaped body type than the hourglass Larian blessed us with. I’ve also seen people portray her with a very large chest, but honestly I can’t see her with more than a C cup. Because of the rigorous training she underwent I can still see her being quite lean but not pure muscle.

Lae’zel- Slightly more muscular, and completely flat chested. Githyanki are egg-layers and I have personally seen no reason for them to have mammary glands. They’re almost reptilian and reptiles don’t chest feed or just have mammary glands generally so like… yeah you get my point. I also feel that she should be at least a bit more muscular because she’s a fighter who’s been trained to kill from birth. None of the Githyanki should be as frail-looking as they are.

Wyll- Honestly… Larian cooked. He looks fine. The only thing I wish were different is his hair. I feel like he’d look so majestic with long locs with little golden rings and cuffs.

Astarion- I can see the argument people have for him to look like he does, and I don’t completely disagree. However, I just feel like the two centuries of abuse and starvation would make it a little difficult to be as ripped as he is. Personally, I feel like Astarion would be way more lean than he is, with far less visible musculature. (Edit: someone said he should be more “boney” and I completely agree.)

Gale- he should be a little pudgy. This man is a book obsessed wizard who spends his days in his tower with his cat. I don’t think he’s wasting his precious studying time with working out to be cut as hell.

Minthara- honestly, I feel like a paladin of her power level should be a little more built than she is. Like not body builder or anything crazy, but at least more visible musculature.

Astarion Headcanons Because I’m Brainrotted

Astarion had hazel colored eyes before becoming a spawn. (I think this for no other reason other than I think it suits him very well.)

Astarion in my head is nowhere near as buff as his character model is. IMO he should be maybe a little bit bony-er

He was a REALLY good magistrate actually. The jokes all are that he was shitty at his job because he was honestly fairly young (for elves anyway) but he’s a very passionate person. He doesn’t half ass anything he does, let alone his job.

As much as he acts like he hates the other spawn, I feel like he subconsciously sees himself as their older brother.

Astarion loves to pester his companions, but finds it most fun to bother Gale. Simply because Gale takes himself so seriously.

Astarion is Cazador’s favored victim, because he reminds him a lot of Vellioth. Perhaps that’s why Cazador targeted Astarion in the first place.

I like to think that Astarion got a portrait of himself painted after the game ended, just so he could know what he looks like since he can’t use a mirror.

As much as I love dad-starion content, we all know that man would want NOTHING to do with raising kids. He would much prefer to be the Aunty that spoils their nices/nephews and then immediately hands them back to their parents. 

His favorite color is navy blue. He looks SO good in navy blue.

I think he like ruffles and really flowy clothes. Like I picture him in one of these “old Hollywood” style feathered house robes.

If he listened to modern music, I feel like he’d really like Melanie Martinez. I can’t explain why, just that it fits his vibe to me.

People like to ship Astarion with (literally) everyone, but I personally only see, HellSpawn, HalStarion, and like maybe BloodWeave.

After he returned to Waterdeep, Gale was looking through his collection of magical items (that he meant to consume at some point) and found a Sun-Walker ring. He mailed it to Astarion with a note basically saying “forgot I had this lol”.

Astarion showed up to Gale’s home a few days later, yelled at him for being an idiot, and then gave him a hug. :)

Okay, that’s it for now lol. Might do an Ascended Astarion list later because I HAVE THINGS TO SAY
