y'all need to understand, Damian is someone who was never really given a choice. First it was what the league of assassins wanted, then it was what Batman wanted. For the longest time, even if he wasn't being forced to fight, he did it because it was the only thing he knew. The only way of living he understood.

This is him knowing better, this is him deciding to fight, to help people. Embracing that roll, not for others, but for himself.

This is Damian choosing.

People hearing Dick's name and immediately thinking of the insult will forever be funny. But imagine if the opposite is also true.

Like the Batfamily is so used to hearing 'dick' as Richard's name that they don't even realize people mean it the other way.

Random person: *sighing* Man, I need dick.

Batfam member: Umm... I think I saw him in the kitchen.

Random person: What??

Batfam member: Huh?

I need to discuss this. You guys don't understand. This page is everything.

There's so much going on, so much packed in to this apology. The desesperation and relief, and guilt in it are so palpable.

This is Bruce getting Damian back after he was kidnapped and it speaks volumes that the first thing he does, even in the middle of a persecution, is hug Damian and apologize.

And, my God, the way he apologizes. Like it has been punched out of his soul, like it's his first time breathing since Damian was taken and he needs to get the words out now.

Bruce almost lost Damian here, and he knows it.

It's not a coincidence how much we're shown Jason's Death through Bruce's hallucinations before this point. How his words to Damian mirror his last words to Jason. "Don't go after him, wait for me"

This is cautionary tale that almost came true again, and Bruce knows it.

You just know he's thinking of Jason here and it makes his worry so much more tragic.

It makes the desesperation in Bruce's voice when he finally gets Damian back so important.

You can almost hear the gratitude in his voice, like with every "I'm sorry" he is also saying 'thank you'. Thank you for being alive, thank you for being okay.

And you can almost hear the regret in his voice because Bruce has spent so much time alienating and antagonizing his boy and it almost got him killed.

This apology has been long overdue. For the pain he caused, for Bashar, for everything...

The whole run Bruce has been so scared that he's going to lose Damian. His son is changing, he's growing up, he's exploring the world outside of Bruce's wing. And Bruce has been terrified that it means Damian is going to leave him.

And he has been going about it in all of the wrong ways.

It's life's cruelest joke that he didn't even realize how much he was hurting Damian until Memento took him. Didn't realize how much he was pushing his son away in fear of losing him until he no longer had him.

"I will trust you" is as much a promise to Damian as it is to himself. A vow to stand by his son no matter what.

And at the end, the way that Bruce so tenderly holds Damian's face. All forgoten, all questions ignored in favor of making sure his kid is okay. Truly okay.

The way he asks "Are you us all right or really all right?", like he doesn't need Robin to be fine, he needs Damian to be fine.

Here he is not Batman, here Bruce is just a father that desperately needed to have his kid back in his arms.

It's perfect, it's everything I needed their reunion to be.

There is so many layers, so much hidden meaning between their interactions just in three panels.

This run has been written with so much care. This hug has so much build up to it, it feels so earned. I love everything about it.

Bruce Just-became-a-parent Wayne having no idea what things he should or shouldn't allow because, well, no one told him 'No' growing up.

And just letting Dick get away with the most insane shit.

*At a fundraiser*

Random rich lady:... I can't believe how these young people are behaving! All covered in tattoos and piercings, God.

Bruce: Right, right.

Random rich lady: I would never allow my children to do something like that, In my time–

Bruce: You Wouldn't!????

Random rich lady: Wha– No! Of course I wouldn't! Beside, my kids are too young–

Bruce: YOUR FIFTEEN YEAR OLD KIDS ARE TOO YOUNG!??

Random rich lady:

Bruce: Shit. FUCK. Excuse me, I need to make a call. *dials number furiously*

Bruce: Alfred! I need you to stop Dick at front door. Do NOT let him leave the house!

*A month lather*

Dick entering Bruce's office: Hey, Bruce!

Bruce: Hey, Chum. What is it?

Dick: I just wanted to remind you that you promised to get me a certain something for my birthday next week.

Bruce: Oh, right...

Dick: Yeah, wouldn't want you to "change your mind" like with the piercing. You did promise, after all...

Bruce:

Dick: And it would be pretty villainous of you to break your promise... again.

Bruce:

Dick: Alright, that's all. Bye! *runs away*

Bruce, quietly picking up the phone:

Bruce: Hi, Mrs. McAllister. It's Bruce Wayne, we met at a fundraiser last month... Yes, the very same, heh...

Bruce: Say, hypothetically, if your kids were to ask for a motorcycle for their birthdays, that would be okay, right?

Bruce, closing his eyes: It wouldn't?... Right, of course. Fuck

I actually love the idea that people can tell Dick's emotional state just based on how cursed his outfits are.

You know, like how he wore DiscoWing during his darkest, emo-est time. "Ugly" fits just mean he's going through it...

On the good days Dick dresses like someone straight out of a Pinterest board; trendy clothes, subtle accessories and perfectly styled hair. But the moment his mental health starts declining– BOOM! It's bedazzled pants. Neon shoes. And patterned shirts.

The more outrageous and flashy Dick's clothes are the worse he's holding up.

It's like the warning light in a car. Everything is fine but if Dick walks in looking like David Bowie on acid then somebody should probably go check on him before he breaks down on the middle of the road.

Dick doesn't really notice that other people notice. He's just a guy trying to manifest happiness through his clothes –No, he's not sad. Could a sad person rock the shit out of Polka Dots?? Think not–.

Unbeknownst to him practically every person close to him has been conditioned to outfit-check him.

They will take one look at Dick and ask if he's doing alright. And Dick will be like "Yes?? I'm fine. You're like the third person to ask me today. Wonder why..." While wearing bright red leather pants, sequin boots and a cowboy hat.

I love that Jimmy Olsen is exactly the type of photographer Peter Parker pretends to be. Just bat-shit insane.

Whenever someone asks Peter how he took a picture he's like "Oh! I uh-, climmed a flagpole. Totally"

And very mortal, normal-human Jimmy is like "See, Clark, is not that weird"

I mean, look at this nutjob.

The world could be ending, lava on the streets and Jimmy would be out there photographing away. No powers, no sense of self preservation. Just khakis, a camera and a dream.

I like to imagine Peter meeting Jimmy and immediately being mortified about it.

Jimmy: –and so luckily I was able to take the picture before the building collapsed on me... Superman was super pissed at me but, photographer to photographer, it was totally worth it.

Peter: Right, no– See, this is actually my first time hearing how fucking insane that sounds. No wonder people at work look at me weird.
