Canine Catholicism implies the existence of Dog Jesus, so I have to ask: what breed was Dog Jesus?

Depictions of Dog Jesus vary, different cultures, communities and branches of Christianity create their own customized, idealized versions of him (think of our blond, blue eyed Jesuses).

In Machete and Vasco's late 16th century Canine Catholic setting, I'm going to go and say he's pictured looking vaguely spaniel-like more often than not. But if you wanted to lean on the shepherd motif more visibly, that could work too.

Here's a pair of paintings from High and Late Renaissance respectively. Salvator Mundi, attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, Italian, dated c. 1499–1510, and Christ Carrying the Cross by El Greco, Greek/Spanish, c. 1580.
