i used to think it was so strange that you said ‘i'm gona go watch candle cove now mom' and then you would tune the tv to static and juts watch dead air for 30 minutes. you had a big imagination with your little pirate show.

There is nothing you can do about it. It's either part of you, or it's not. And if you can't come to terms with that, it's going to eat you alive.

Hey! Maybe your old imaginary friend is just killing people because you need a better therapist!?
Oh man, the Dream Door from Channel zero (r.i.p). Just checked that out recently. Didn’t think I’d make fanart or anything, kinda went off the rails at the end…
but I’ve not stopped thinking about THEM for 3 days now!!
Pretzel Jack is my new boy I love him! A mute contortionist clown that murders anyone who gaslights his friend! Bravo sir!

Obscure Candle Cove factoids:
These are official infos that I haven’t found on the wiki or people talk about/mention, so I shall spread them!
1). The first Candle Cove adaptation was one being made in Uruguay (can’t find much info on it unfortunately) it was unofficial and Kris Straub stated it would’ve been one of his most favorite fan adaptations/sequels if it wasn’t for the fact these people were trying to make a profit off of it without permission, and it was cancelled by him before it was finished.
2). Kris Straub now adays doesn’t own Candle Cove anymore, it’s owned by the people behind Channel Zero (or maybe SYFY?) that means he can’t make any new content or merch for Candle Cove unfortunately.
3). Apparently in-universe the show of Candle Cove wasn’t intentionally made to be scary (so likely the show wasn’t gorey or serious despite what many fan interpretations might say).
4). Kris Straub was actually gonna make an official sequel to Candle Cove that in plot is very similar to the fan story “Tales Of The Laughingstock” where a person tries to find out more about Candle Cove and track down anyone who worked for the show or saw it, unfortunately due to Kris Straub no longer owning the rights to Candle Cove he couldn’t produce it, but this lead him to creating something similar to Candle Cove; Local 58, so technically if Candle Cove was never made then likely Analogue horror wouldn’t exist.
5). Everyone knows that Candle Cove is inspired by a parody article on notorious parody news site; The Onion about a guy constantly having nightmares about Lidsville, and how basically everything about Candle Cove is inspired by Sid and Marty Krofft’s creations (Lidsville, the Chuck E Cheese early characters, H.R. Pufnstuff, The Banana Splits, and many others) but it’s also inspired by a few other shows such as; Inside Out (the old educational live action kids show, not the movie) and Slim Goodbody (the older versions), in fact most of the characters of Candle Cove aren’t particularly inspired by any other characters, The Laughingstock is! It’s a book puppet in “Well, Well, Well with Slim Goodbody” (can be found in episode six, not sure if it’s in other episodes tho).

It's wild how gaga everyone goes over AHS and its never-ending seasons when Channel Zero is right there. the superior horror anthology by a country mile.
is it because the concepts were based on creepypastas? i was a little reluctant because of that myself, i won't lie, but they barely have any resemblance to the source material other than the names. the cast is leagues better than AHS overall. the practical effects in each season are fucking INCREDIBLE, i still think about the smiling rig they made for Pretzel Jack on a regular basis.
it never made sense to me why it was canceled after season four. season three was dogshit and relied so heavily on cgi it was almost unbearable, so if they canceled after that, i wouldn't question it. but the writers came back with a fourth season every bit as strong as the first two, and THEN it was canceled? something stinks.
anyway, all hail the guy that played Pretzel Jack, Twisty Troy, the only man i've ever seen gallop around in a full back bend. this show turned me onto his other creature work, and the man is an absolutely outrageous talent. king shit.

The way he looks behind him to will the circle of flesh to return is bizarrely realistic. It's one of those quirky details of Jeff's performance that shows that he's really going the extra mile. This is not his first weird rodeo. Jeff has made being natural in a surreal situation into an art.
