Singer, Seth Riggs,
is a The Calgary Stampede 
grandstand show headliner who performed in the late 1960s.

Per the record’s cover, the Lloyd Erickson Singers hailed from Calgary’s Crescent Heights High School & backed Riggs’ vocals on the Side 1 single.

Riggs later became a vocal coach to a host of singing legends including:

Ray Charles, Barbra Streisand,

Michael Jackson, Cher,

Luther Vandross, Bonnie Raitt,

Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross & the Supremes,

Ozzy Osbourne, Madonna,

Brian Wilson, Tina Turner,

among many other heavy-hitters.

Riggs, now 94, is an extraordinary talent who lent a hand in conditioning some of history’s greatest voices, & also exhibits ties to The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth.


Today kicks off Calgary Stampede 2025,
which marks 139 years of what has become the Stampede, with exhibition roots tracing back to 1886, & the first rodeo / festival held in 1912.

Every year, the quintessential Calgary Stampede attracts over a million visitors & features one of the world’s largest rodeos, a parade, midway, stage shows/concerts, agriculture competitions, chuckwagon races, First Nations exhibitions, & city-wide pancake breakfasts / western-themed functions.

Although the various festivities throughout the city spur a boost in the city’s economy every July, the event also infamously contributes to controversy with respect to animal welfare during the rodeo & races.

Whatever side of the fence you sit on, the Stampede has become synonymous with Calgary as a city, ensuing nicknames like, “Stampede City” / “Cowtown”.

The Calgary Stampede is a not-for-profit community organization which continues to push to preserve + promote western heritage, cultures, & community spirit.

Here’s to 139 years of “stampeding,” cowboys + cowgirls!
