The Lockhearts
Sydney’s Inner West ruffians ‘The Lockhearts’ officially release their new video ‘Low’ utilisng the skills of renowned fetish stylist Oliver Debiais and House of Fire’s couture bondage line to help bring their vision to life. The clip has already started to turn heads having just won bronze at the Global Music Awards before its official release. Filmed at the now derelict Old Sydney Town, ‘Low’ is the first video off their newly released double EP Tales from the Sea; The Lockhearts engaged Award Winning Director Tanzeal Rahim to create this video following the success of his horror flick Muirhouse. “The band wanted to appropriate Greek Mythology, with the clip to resemble the tale of the Sirens in Homers Odyssey” comments Rahim on the vison for the video. Local alt models Noir Cult and Bette Von Bomme play the charming innocent maidens, transformed into dangerous martyrs. “Despite the somber undertones, we had a lot of fun shooting the video… I think the girls had a little too much fun drowning us though” laughs Jameel, bass player for the Lockhearts. The release marks the completion of a successful national Australian tour that ran from March to July playing over 25 shows across 6 states boasting rave reviews from audiences and media alike. “We’re excited to put this video out.” ‘Low’ has been one of the most requested songs from the band; “We like to write drawing from real experience, sometimes with a little too much poetic license, but themes like depression and disillusionment are relevant to a lot of people and will always make an audience connection if genuine. The guitar riff always seems to catch on and communicate on a really primal level every time we play it” comments Tim Meaco, Singer and Guitarist on why they chose ‘Low’ as the single.

The Lockhearts Double EP ‘Tales From the Sea’
Earlier this month a band contacted the Dirty Legs to take a listen to what they were creating. Not only were we pleasantly surprised but both EP volumes have been on rotation for a while now. While you try to favor either the first volume or the second, it is nearly impossible because each song finds a well deserved spot while playing on the stereo.
Out of Australia, The Lockhearts is a three piece band that is made up of Jameel Majam (bass), Samuel Sheumack (guitar) and Tim Meaco (vox and guitar).
Bringing the influence of a 70′s rock n’ roll lifestyle that so famously portrayed various antics and crazed tracks that till this day stand up against the majority of what is played on the Top 40. The Lockhearts have a secret ingredient that seems to have faded out along the way. A want…no, a need to play music. Which instantly comes across on ‘Tales From the Sea’.
On Volume One you have the tracks, Hope, The Way to Thunder Road, The Game and If Time Was on my Side. Considering that these tracks are the more upbeat, fun individual songs. That doesn’t mean they should be passed up with a shrug of the shoulder. Telling stories that bare resemblance to living life on the road, struggling and general misfortunes and thoughts that peered into Tim Meaco’s mind since he is the primary song writer.
Blasting off with guitar riffs that catapults a believer out of any music fan that dreams of catching a gig that endures pure skill and a high energy live show that one will not forget. Volume one shows off the band’s take it all or nothing side. All the while still presenting through their music just how tight knit of a group they are, with precision and class that gives an air of dedication and adrenaline.
Volume Two playfully presents the darker side of the band’s conscious. Where destruction and chaos fuel one another into the four tracks Low, Detonator, Hush and Meet You There Again. With drums that beat as hard as one drummer can without breaking the skin on his drums, feeling the beat pulsate up through the floor into your skeletal presence. Combined with vocals that utter a plea that justifies a connection between wanting to let go and taking control. All intertwined with a bass line and guitar signal of chords that add a pace that can make your skin crawl with anticipation, adding an aesthetic that leaves adrenaline induced sensations waiting to break free.
The first two links are two songs from a live rehearsal that ultimately capture just what sound The Lockhearts are putting out there into the musical sphere.
