"All about wages", "Good luck" - Lots of Liverpool fans react as ex-player's future is confirmed

Trabzonspor announced on Wednesday that they had signed Daniel Sturridge on a free transfer, with the striker penning a three-year deal at the club.

The 29-year-old was released by Liverpool at the end of the 2018-19 campaign having fallen out of favour at the Merseyside club.

Sturridge’s future has been the subject of much speculation – particularly over the last week or so. However, Trabzonspor have won the race for the Englishman.

The forward only managed two Premier League goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side during the 2018-19 campaign.

However, he left Anfield with a record of 68 goals in 160 appearances in all competitions, which is far from disastrous.

It remains to be seen whether Sturridge can be a success in Turkish football as it will be a completely different style of football.

Just what I was looking for This is the best mandolin book ever written. It starts right at the beginning and moves forwards to other styles, influences from other countries and players. It gives us tunes, chords, rhythms, different techniques, some theory about different modes all written in a step by step logical way, that is interesting and sometimes funny and, unlike some music books very easy to read. It talks about purchasing and caring for your instrument. Go to Amazon

This is an excellent resource for any level of player, not just a beginner There is something unattractive in a book titled "For Dummies." However, I have found this book to be, by far, the best resource for differing techniques in the art of the mandolin. I've been playing mandolin for over eight years now and have mastered the simple techniques that are essential to learn in basic musicianship. So, I was able to skip ahead to more advanced skill sets. I did, just to be sure, read the basics on mandolin manipulation, pick direction and chord construction to make sure the author approved of what I had picked up. Luckily, there are no real bad habits to break. Julin covers more material than I've ever seen in any instruction book. Specifically, I was interested in proper pick direction in jigs and reels. He goes further and explains the lilt idea of the jig. This has been a big "ahah!" for me and now I am exploring Scottish Strathspeys. Go to Amazon

Great book on the mandolin, but very hard on the eyes. I have to agree with StevieK on the book size. I have some other For Dummies books, most have larger type and clearer pictures for the page size. The paper is also darker, like it was printed on recycled newspaper stock. This might do alright if you're young and have good vision, but when (like me) you're in your mid-50's and find it a struggle even with good light and glasses, it's a bit off-putting. Go to Amazon

Caveat emptor ... Amazon is careless. The book seems to be well laid out, considering, and most of the information is current. I did not see any place that indicated I was ordering the British version of the book with prices in pounds, UK Web addresses, and typical Island spellings. Yes, US equivalents are ptovided, screwing up the flow if the book. Reminds me of the time I ordered a system administrator book and they sent me volume one of the two volume version Go to Amazon

Violin Editions Are Better This volume does not have a CD with it, so if that's important to you don't buy this edition. This book is okay, but I think Violin for Dummies is better. It's enough to get you started on mandolin, but some of the explanations are not written well for someone who is just starting to learn music. There is a nice variety of topics and good advice on buying instruments, as well as maintenance instruction that is very helpful. Go to Amazon

Is this just this version's layout, or are the chord illustrations always put with an improper chord description? Wonderful I played a guitar a little 40 years ago and that was the extent of my experience. This book is perfect for beginners. It doesn't overwhelm with technique right away but gets one playing tunes. It then adds technique (such as how to hold the pick) slowly but not so far into learning that one has to break entrenched bad habits. It doesn't hit music theory very hard either unlike some other "beginner" books I've seen. It comes along in small doses and, for the most part, can be ignored depending on what level of ability one is trying to attain. Go to Amazon
