UBC IN DETROIT I

Took a trip to Detroit Easter weekend met up with  Sintex at his studio picked up a little Kobra Aerosol, he then took us to Recy-Clean on Holden St. right next to the tracks to some wall space that our new Homie Malt hooked it up with. Religion’s role is not to explain how clouds form, how cells function, or how light travels. Science’s role is not to explain the meaning of life, whether or not God exists, and what morality is. All in all, each are good and legitimate areas of study.

“BEAUTIFUL PRIDE”

Looking out over the Detroit River to the dream of safety in Canada, Detroit was a critical final stop on the Underground Railroad with countless escaped slaves passing through the tunnels beneath the city’s market and gathering place. Highlighted here, perhaps the most famous “conductor” on the railroad, Harriet Tubman, was born into the harsh existence of a field hand and had to leave husband and family behind in order to escape. “Beautiful Pride” painted by Detroit artist Sintex in 2014, on Division Street at Orleans just a block from Eastern Market, remembers the importance of the “Railroad” while honoring several women of color important to the community, directly or indirectly: abolitionist Sojourner Truth; Harriet Tubman; first African American Detroit Councilwoman Erma Henderson; and First Lady at the time Michelle Obama. Already showing signs of aging when this photo was taken in early 2016, new art has since been installed in this location.  @sintexartist  @easternmarket

Can you stop being assholes to female artists?

[DISCLAIMER: I usually have some really thick skin and I’ve always tried to be nice to other people even though they went waaaay out of what one would call ‘personal space’. Yeah, nice, for 2 fucking years straight. But I just had it.]

Most of the males I know are awesome respectful guys. They are my friends, supporters, commissioners, etc. I respect their tastes and they respect me as an artist. I have a place in my heart for all of them.     To them, I ask you to please excuse my bad language. This ones goes for the other kind of males: please please please STOP DISRESPECTING FEMALE  ARTISTS. We ARE ARTISTS, we  ARE BUSY,  we are not here to please you with your hormonal need to RP/dirty chat/sexting/whatever. We are here to make ART. THAT is our job. Stop asking for RP like we know you, stop “baby”-ing us like we were your fuckgirls. We learn about anatomy, we learn about color, we learn about composition and we try to apply it in our art. JUST LIKE male artists do. Each artist chooses their own specialty and, some female artists like me, choose to do fetish-y art because they enjoy drawing that. And that’s it. A person pays me to draw X and I draw X. I do what the commissioner wants and everyone is happy :3 yay! Just like any artist. If someone asks me to illustrate a children book  with cute little puppies (not that kind of puppies) I will draw that too. I DO NOT RP AND I’M NOT YOUR ‘HUN’. I’M NOT YOUR ‘BABE’, I’M NOT SOMEONE YOU COULD ASK NASTY QUESTIONS.

What makes you think I want to RP with you? You are a stranger, I don’t know you. You dont know fuck all about what I like and what I don’t. I already have a real life partner with a REAL LIFE dick that knows EXACTLY WHAT I LIKE and WHERE. Why would I waste my time with strangers? Do you go asking strangers if they want to RP with you IRL? Do you ask…idk bakers, teachers, doctors, tattoo artists, other kind of artists for some RP? Do you realize how fucking rude this is? I’m an artist not a fucking camgirl. Go save your money and pay the correct fucking professional for the service you want and leave females artists alone. We are losing lots of talented females that want to draw what they like, and do not only have to fight with “what their family would think about it”. NOPE, they now have to fight with lots of assholes that are horny and don’t respect them as an artist just because she is female. Yeah, I fucking know that because I also receive notes from “young shiny starting pervert female artists”. The poor creatures are scared of drawing what they like. Guess why? Think of me like a beardy John Cena with a vagina the next time you want to ask for RP. Because I won’t be nice with you. Imma break some spines.
