Would your OC know Shu?

If your character has an interest in martial arts or dance covers (the number of those are far outweighed by the fight scenes on her channel), then it’s possible that they could’ve seen her on YouTube. She goes by Mango on there, which is where the Mango☆Fight title comes from.

The focus of her channel is on scripted martial arts fights. She acts in the videos alongside her friends, where they play various (poorly acted) characters that get into random fights with each other.

A video of hers went viral about 6 years before game start. The world of viral videos is very blink and you miss it, though. She was doing a zuiquan routine that upset some people who thought she may have actually been drunk, whoops. That video has the most hits of any other of her videos by far. Typically, her videos average around 10-20k hits.

It’s more likely that your character would’ve heard of one of her projects. Namely...

Under the Falling Petals, I Finally Found You

I have a small page that mentions some selected works of hers, but this one is the most popular by far. It’s about a ronin on the run from a group of assassins who goes into hiding in a village where, pretending to be a robbed man in need of help, he stays with a kind family. His intention is to stay with them until things blow over so he can move on, but it soon becomes clear that this village may need his help...and he also finds himself falling in love with the daughter of the home. uwu

It’s romantic and cheesey at times, which has helped the show’s popularity. There are a lot of fights in it, both unarmed and with swords, other blades, or random objects. The second season has recently wrapped up and was as highly rated as the first. The third will go into production soon.

So, if your character would watch jidaigeki TV dramas, then it’s possible they’ve seen this one!

Local Theater

If your character has lived in or around Yokohama and watches live theater, it’d be possible that they’ve seen some fight scenes Shu has choreographed. If they looked through the playbill, they might recognize her name? She hasn’t done any big name shows, though.

Character Permissions

Yeah, shipping with Shu is A-OK. I will warn that this is a subject she hasn’t thought too deeply about so she’s in more of an unsure/idk mode when it comes to her preferences. She just goes with the flow.

Being mean/rude to her ICly is perfectly fine. I like the spice. OOC jokes and things like that are OK. Art’s ok too. All good with me! Whatever you want to do, as long as it isn’t mean-spirited, is cool with me.

02 . this isn’t falling with style (trial)

Noel covers her face as more questions came for her, ashamed of herself. It takes her a while to find her voice again, and speak out.

“I... I-I couldn’t... I couldn’t handle it anymore. Everyone was in so much pain from the poison. I-I hated seeing it...” Noel sighs shakily. “We were all going to die. I couldn’t develop an antidote by myself. If that 3rd day hit, we’d all be poisoned, and we would all die. ... ... ...

“S-someone... someone had to do something...” Noel drags her hands down her face. “Well...

“What was one life compared to the many I’ve taken already?” she lets out, sounding uncharacteristically cold. And yet, still obviously shaking.

“I can do it. I can do it, I thought. I saw an opportunity when I saw him sick. I wrote him a letter talking about an antidote I didn’t have. And he comes. I doubt he even hesitated. Jesus christ,” Noel bites her lip.

“As I’ve said, I’m weak. I couldn’t do it myself. I just happened to have the bearcrow I had already set up in the lab. I mapped it with Mango’s moves, intending for it to be an actual guardian for us. I thought it would be cool. It’s set to move by itself, acting on its own AI reacting to what it sees. My greatest creation,” Noel sniffs, but there’s an undeniable pride to her voice which disappears with her next sentence. “I went to the lab at 10pm to update its AI with anti-zuiquan measures, and... an order to attack. I also gave it a dagger, for proper measure.”

She seems to laugh, then, her voice breaking. “Can you believe it? He beat it. My greatest creation. Delirious with fever, he destroyed the bot even as he was injured. Yeah, I underestimated him. Maybe being delirious with fever actually improved his drunken master style.”

Noel blinks, trying to continue her story. “H-he was injured, though. He dragged himself from the lab and to the hub. A-and... and... I was...” Noel looks down. “I was waiting for the whole thing to end in one of the restrooms. I-I went to him with a knife... a-and... h... he was...

“He was smiling? I don’t get it. I don’t get it... why was he smiling?” Noel takes a moment to try and find her words again. “I... I-I couldn’t do it. Part of me was screaming that everyone would die of poison if I didn’t, but I couldn’t... So I tore apart my labcoat to try and bandage him... P-propped him up a wall and made sure he was okay...

“I left to destroy the evidence. I forgot about the audio record. I couldn’t even clean the knives properly in the restroom. Didn’t even think the bear mask would survive the fire. I fucked up on every part. I came back to him, a-and... and found just how much I fucked up... 

“He... he was dead.

“I refused to believe it. So I dragged him to everyone for help.” Noel sniffs, and wipes her eyes.

... ... ...

“Now... that’s the end. The end of my whole story.”
