The last ride we made to Zanskar with our guests through mighty Shinku la was in December 2022. A short 3 day excursion we made in the Lungnak valley with a crispy short hike to Phuktar monastery, the ancient marvel of Zanskar. 3 Scenes from the Forbidden Kingdom, related to the novel/book "American Born Chinese" themes .

1) In the movie Forbidden Kingdom, Actor Jet Li plays the a role where he is the "Monkey King." The Monkey King is also in the novel, American Born Chinese. The Monkey King in American Born Chinese plays a role as a cocky monkey. 

So in the movie, The Monkey King crashes a party and In the book The Monkey King crashes the party the same exact way the movie had it. In both movie and book, they both have the Monkey King attacking everybody violently. 

2) For things to be right again in the movie and the book, somebody or someone had to release the Monkey King because he was the only one who can make things right with the only one who has the power to stop evil.  In the movie was trapped in stone, and in the book the Monkey King was trapped by rocks and stones. To me it related to each other because the way both Monkey Kings got trapped by stone or rocks. 

3) I feel the movie and book related because the way the story was set up was very similar. Both movie and book had side stories about the Monkey King all leading up to it all the stories coming together for an unexpected ending. 

Also when in the movie, when the Monkey King had one of his hairs becoming a person who was Jet Li, to help Jackie Chan's character and Michael Angarano character release the Monkey King to help them solve their problems. 

In the book, it was almost similar because the Monkey King was the character Danny's cousin. Danny's cousin ended up being the monkey king who tried to help Danny find his real self and make him understand you do not have to be somebody you're not to make people like you.
