I will never stop thinking about how Zoe has a crush on Marinette but she’s also supposed to be Chloe’s replacement.

Being Andre’s new daughter, being the star for that movie.

The only thing Zoe hasn’t completely replaced Chloe in is being Adrien’s childhood bf.

Fanfic Idea

Ugh! I had this idea to write a fic about what-if Marinette was evil instead of Gabriel! But now with the whole Shadybug and Claw Noir special coming, I feel I have to wait, so things like 'Good Gabriel's good guy name' and what he calls who makes heroes (currently I'm calling them champion but I don't know anything) are more accurate to the show!

Plot

Essentially, it would've been in this universe, so no Shadybug. Instead, her name would've been Miss Fortune (I've been in this fandom since the beginning, I've always wanted that name to be canon). She takes the image of a shy sweet girl Marinette Dupain-Cheng but when things don't go her way, she becomes Miss Fortune.

Luckily, Paris has a hero in its corner, the amazing Chat Noir who battles the evil Miss Fortune. However, he also has an ally in the form of Papillon, a mysterious benefactor who helps him by sending him champions.

Characters

Adrien will still be our innocent sunshine child, but he has a whole lot more on his shoulders, trying to stop Miss Fortune from wrecking havoc and eventually becoming Guardian.

As Chat Noir, he and the champion have to work together to fight Miss Fortune. I have this system where Miss Fortune has a anti-charm (like Anti-bug) and if the two destroy it, the world healing begins.

Alya is still how she is in the show. Except she despises Miss Fortune. Her blog is towards Chat instead and she insults Miss Fortune anyway she can. She wants to rid the world of Miss Fortune, unaware she's her best friend.

Chloe would be a much better person (she still has some of her original flaws, so she would be not be like Zoe), liking Adrien like a brother and treating Sabrina like a real friend. Of course, Marinette doesn't see their relationship as platonic so she targets her. This version of Anti-Bug would've have Papillon give Chloe the power of the original Ladybug miraculous until Chat decides to give her the bee miraculous to use.

Lila would've been a person who always told the truth and while not all of her stories from canon were true, she does have some real amazing tales. This attracts Adrien to her (again platonically) much to Marinette's chagrin. One story is that Miss Fortune stole her bag once and Chat Noir got it back for her. Marinette thinks Lila is lying and Chat doesn't remember Lila specifically but he does remember giving someone back their bag.

So she briefly becomes Miss Fortune to embarrass her but this just inspires her to become Volpina and her and Chat briefly work together to take her down.

Gabriel is a much better father here! He's still busy and Emilie is still dead. But he's allowed Adrien to go to school and have a less stricter lifestyle. He still misses his wife but goes on a more healthier path instead and tries to move on while helping Chat Noir as Papillon.

Zoe would've been a person who acted nice when in reality, she's a massive witch. She still has feelings for Marinette but Marinette takes advantage of these feeling instead. She assist Miss Fortune also, not liking when things don't go her way. Half of Chloe becoming akumatized episodes would be Chloe either needing the bee miraculous or her helping Chat as a champion. Zoe would play dumb when confronted but some people start seeing the truth through her and Marinette's lies.

Shipping

So Marinette likes Adrien to disturbing degrees. Finding her strange since kindergarten, Adrien at best can be civil towards her. In the Animan episode of this AU, he would've weirded out by Nino's crush on her but would've still helped him, because he's a good friend and he feels he would be a good influence of her.

He and Miss Fortune jokingly flirt with each other sometimes, but they really hate each other with a fiery passion.

Adrien is bisexual in this fic. Who is Adrien's partner? Luka. Instead of liking Marinette, he takes a shining to Adrien instead. Adrien is smitten as both himself and Chat Noir. Luka would be a frequent character in season 1. Often times, Chloe and Juleka (and sometimes Nino) would try pairing them together frequently.

Marinette used to have a crush to Luka and he used to give her a chance but with all the lying and her accidently making it clear she likes Adrien, he also can now only be civil to her.

Chloe is also bisexual. Nathaniel initially has feelings for her instead of Marinette in 'Evilluastor'. Season 1 would plenty of cute moments. Not sure I should write whether they broke up but are on good terms or have them be in a poly relationship with Marc and Kagami.

Down the line, Chloe gains feelings for Kagami. Marinette in this AU, never lets go of her mean feelings for Kagami and instead Kagami enters the scavenger hunt in 'Ikati Gozen' with Chloe, causing the two to bond. Kagami never has feelings for Adrien (but I'll say it again, Marinette doesn't see it that way).

The bee protects the ladybug better then the cat ever could

So... this was a request made by Anon. I have been meaning to post it but now here I am doing it at long last.

I hope you all enjoy this piece!

Marinette realised she fell out of love towards Adrien once she understood she was in love with Chloe's half sister Zoe. It had been a huge shock to her but Tikki was able to calm her down enough that she was able to think over things... and understand that changes needed to be done in her life. As a result, she got rid of every single picture she had of Adrien in her room and donated all of the gifts she made for Adrien after getting rid of his schedule.

Once all of that was done. She decided to redo her room a little bit with the decor... and who better to ask for help then Zoe! It was perfect! She could ask her to come help her pick things out and then invite her over to help her redo her decor. Which is what she did, while nervous of course Mari stuttered out her request of Zoe helping her buy some new decor for her room after school... and the blonde accepted making Mari very excited to the answer. Which resulted in them having a fun time together doing some shopping.

When they were done, Mari asked Zoe if she was free to come over tomorrow... she wanted her opinion on where to place the new decor and she happily accepted "I think it would be a fun thing to do together. Then we could take a walk together" she offered which made Mari even more excited about tomorrow. She was freaking out on how things were going "What if she asks me out! Or I ask her out or even better we do it at the same time!?" She said as she flopped on her bed with a smile on her face.

Tikki found it nice that her bug and Pollen's bee were bonding so well at the moment... for in the past, some of Plagg's cats would never let it happen so Plagg had to start keeping them away so it can happen. Later that day, Mari drops off the bee miraculous in Zoe's room to make Vesperia an official member to the team... she could only hope that Cat Noir would be alright with this... last thing she wants is a temper tantrum from him, the next day. Zoe arrives and goes up to Mari's room.

The two get to work quickly since Zoe had come up with a few ideas for them to use to decorate Mari's room, it actually made things go faster than they thought... so when they finished... the two went on there walk together. Mari was of course internally screaming... but it got worst when Zoe took hold of her hand... resulting in Mari blushing like crazy... and also stuttering out both her feelings and asking Zoe out on a date. Of course, Zoe laughed and claimed she was cute and funny... but accepted both her feelings and the date request.

People watched as Mari had a slight freak out of joy in silence... while Tikki and Pollen laughed at the whole thing...

So... the two girls walked into school as a couple the following week. People found them cute and Alya began calling them 'Zoenette' which made them blush. Chloe at one point took Mari away and gave her the "If you hurt my sister's heart in any way I will hurt you and ruin your life" talk and Mari not only had a freak out... but Zoe had a fight with her sister when they got back to the hotel. Chloe to Mari's shock apologized the next day and offered to take her out shopping after school which she accepted since Sabrina was nodding to her to agree.

Adrien however... didn't like this. Even though everyone thought the two girls were cute together... he didn't think they should be together... the same went for Vesperia and Ladybug. The two started not only dating but working more together! Alya had made a poll about there ship name being either 'Ladyria' or 'Vespebug' and he hated it all to be honest. he believed they were making a mistake and that 'LadyNoir' was meant to be no matter what in the end... but no one wanted to listen to him.

So he decided to start with Zoe and Marinette... and what better way they to claim Zoe like her sister Chloe...

He was avoided like the plague. He couldn't believe it didn't work, Lila tried to help him with a few lies... but it quickly backfired when Chloe and Sabrina revealed she was a liar... scared for her life and not wanting to face her actions, she ran back to Italy to be safe... which caused everyone who gave her money for stuff or to donate... wasn't getting it back at all which caused them to be upset with her. But before she left she revealed to them the one truth she would say "Adrien and Marinette were the only ones who knew I was a liar. You all turned your backs on her when she tried to reveal me and Adrien kept quiet" this caused them all to feel betrayed by him.

He lost his friends without ever knowing why. Zoe and Mari on the other hand were very happy now that Lila was gone... this left Vesperia and Ladybug for him to stop. He found out that they were going on a date together when he was on patrol... so he planned to ruin it... but he missed it due to a photoshoot his father had for him. As a result... Mari revealed herself to Vesperia which resulted in there relationship being stronger than before... and 'Vespebug' became there ship name.

Adrien was of course pissed off at the fact he failed to allow the four to be in relationships in the end. Believing he still had a chance he stormed over to Mari's place, he went to her room "You need to leave Zoe Marinette! I'm telling you she's just like Chloe! This sweet and nice thing is an act! Once she get's what she want's from you she will leave you while laughing!" he claimed with the great hope she would believe him... but instead he was kicked out of the bakery by her angry parents while Mari screamed from her balcony to stay away from her.

He tried the same thing as Cat Noir to Vesperia... but she kept her distance every time he tried to talk to her. What he didn't know is that Mari tried calling her but ended up calling Chloe by mistake... she of course quickly told Zoe who ran to be by her girlfriend's side to comfort her. As a result, there were problems between them during akuma battles that the public noticed pretty quickly and began to worry that something was wrong... they began to ask questions which annoyed Adrien as it wasn't any of there business in the first place, but then he had enough and did an interview for Nadja.

She brought it up and he... lied, he claimed that Ladybug and Vesperia were fighting over something and to mind there own business now. This angered many as they were worried for them and wanted things to get back to normal... and claimed he was being a jerk for telling them that, but he believed he had a right to say what he said... until it backfired on him when Ladybug and Vesperia gave Alya an interview to tell the truth, they were in her living room and they spoke "Cat Noir lied about the problem... the truth is he is the problem" Ladybug explained "He tried to lie to me about Ladybug being in love with him and that I was in the way of them being together. He also claimed that she and I weren't a match and that I needed to leave the team" Vesperia explained.

They talked a bit more about the situation but in the end it caused Cat Noir to be greatly hated by the public. His merch was destroyed and the statue made in his and Ladybug's honor was destroyed and would only be remade once he was replaced, this caused Adrien to not transform as he didn't want to get thrown stuff at him anymore. Mari struggled with this but Zoe was by her side and believed it was for the best... so they reclaimed it from him when Ladybug got him to come out. He tried to fight back but venom used on him... it was over.

But it wasn't over just yet. With Zoe's support and Chloe and Sabrina by her side, Mari told the entire class what Adrien tried to tell her about Zoe so they could breakup... it infuriated the class since he was in the wrong to do something like this to Mari, Chloe even showed them how Mari called her by mistake that day which proved what he did. The class attacked him for it and he was reported to his father... who decided to send him to London to live with his aunt and cousin for the time being.

After that... things were better for the two girls. They were happy and freed from Adrien and Cat Noir... they even replaced him with Chloe who went by the name Black Panthère and she worked hard to prove she was better than Cat Noir. As a result, merch began to be designed and a new statue was in the making for the three girls... but considering the team was planning to expand... it might take awhile to make before getting revealed.

But the bee and ladybug were happy now... and no black cat would put an end to that...

ranking my favorite marinette pairings

okay, so, i am a HUGE multishipper. like, i greatly enjoy shipping characters with different people. since marinette has chemistry with pretty much most of the cast in some way, shape, or form, i figured i'd rank my personal favorite ships with her that i'm fond of.

5. feinette

coming at #5 we have fei and marinette! i think this is a very unique rarepair and their relationship and dynamic in the shanghai special is adorable! the only reason they're so low is because i just prefer the others with marinette. i think we really need more of them together, as they were the highlight of the entire special for me. overall, very cute, just not my favorite!

4. marigami

if you asked me to make this ranking a year or two ago, i probably would've put these two lovely gal pals higher up. but my opinion of them has changed drastically since last time so.

i think their relationship is so amazing. the "sunshine x grumpy" dynamic is always something i enjoy (hence why i love tohrin for the same reason). aside from surface level stuff, marinette really shows just how much she cares for kagami. she's her first friend, so naturally, marinette wouldn't want kagami to be left lonely with no one. and knowing marinette, she'd do everything in her power to make kagami feel comfortable and happy when they're together (see mr. pigeon 72).

at first, kagami needed time to warm up to marinette, but she really made a strong impact on her life (gee, i wonder who that reminds me of). i especially like how marinette wanted to get adrigami back together, when that probably wouldn't have even crossed s3 marinette's mind. her willingness to be there for kagami is why i love these girls so much. and kagami actually appreciating marinette's friendship is so wholesome. don't ask me about s5 i like to pretend that season doesn't exist, especially with regard to kagami and how her character was handled.

3. zoenette

first off, i just want to say, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH?? zoe's crush on marinette is so so cute and i REALLY like how they handled it in adoration. zoe's confession was so heartwarming and marinette's reaction and reassurance was wonderful.

zoe, who had practically NO ONE when she moved to paris, is automatically befriended by marinette, who didn't even know who she was and was so welcoming to her. marinette cares so much about zoe and worries for her because she doesn't want her to be a doormat to chloe and wants her to stand up for herself.

eventually, once zoe does, marinette is so proud of her and it really reminds me of the time when tohru congratulated yuki for standing up to akito, but i digress. she can see just how far zoe has come since she first arrived and her growth is everything. their relationship is built on support and trust and that's what makes their dynamic so compelling and sweet.

2. alyanette

MY BABIES. i am a sucker for the “best friends to lovers” trope and this is basically that, just without the ‘lovers’ part. they support each other so much. their level of trust is put to the test in s4 when maribug tells alya her identity. alya, in return, helps marinette out even more than she already has. marinette needed to tell someone of the burden and heavy weight that's been put on her shoulders, and i think alya is the perfect candidate.

contrary to popular belief, alya is an AMAZING friend. she's the one who gets marinette out of sticky situations and doesn't get upset easily if she slips up (see the mime). despite not knowing what marinette is up to at times, alya still puts her full trust in her because she knows that, at the end of the day, marinette will make the right decisions.

i could ramble on and on about these two, but you get my point. also, i can't be the only one who could just FEEL the tension in the air rising during their oh so very intimate scene towards the end of the reverse special. no, just me?

1. adrienette

to no one's surprise, adrienette comes crashing down in first place. i love these two SO MUCH. they care about and love one another in different ways. marinette shows her love through gift-giving and grand gestures. adrien shows his love through words of affirmation and by spending time with someone. they would go above and beyond for the other. adrien confronted AND blackmailed lila about marinette's expulsion and her treatment of her in order for marinette to come back to school. (honestly kinda reminds me of haru when he went and confronted akito about what she did to rin). marinette went to adrien's house numerous times to save him from a possible dangerous situation, i.e. oni-chan, gabriel agreste.

in oni-chan, lila sneakily made her way inside the agreste mansion and lied to nathalie about adrien needing to get some extra homework done to bring his grade up. obviously, she has an ulterior motive: to get close to adrien. marinette, hoping to prevent this, follows them. unfortunately, with no luck, she wasn't able to get inside. this does, however, showcase the lengths she's willing to go to for his safety.

another instance of this is in gabriel agreste, after chloe maliciously recorded a video of marinette and her friends talking about gabriel being a bad parent. knowing what this would do to adrien, chloe was planning on showing the video to his father to get him out of school, DESPITE the fact that chloe would never see him again (it's very telling that chloe does not care about adrien or what he wants in the slightest, and would rather fulfill her satisfaction of revenge for shits and giggles).

in contrast, marinette, despite sneaking into the mansion uninvited, comes up a plan with her friends to ensure chloe does not show the video. note that her goal was not to hurt adrien but to save him from chloe's clutches. this was not out of jealousy in the slightest. the video ends up not getting shown, much to chloe's determination, and adrien is safe, which was marinette's goal from the start.

i could list so many different instances where marinette and adrien show their tenderness for each other but we'd be here for hours. their relationship means everything to me. and as much as i love the other dynamics, adrienette work the best in canon, (again, not going to mention s5) and, unsurprisingly, complement each other really well.

My thoughts exactly !! Zoé is the only one among Marinette's "friends" who beleived in her and defended her during that scene, and just for that she deserves so much love and respect than she gets T^T

Even Adrien, who is supposed to be Marinette's boyfriend at this point, remained silent and didn't even tried to stand up for the girl he loves even though he must have known that Marinette was innocent.

Sorry for the Adrinette fans, but in that episode Zoe was a better friend and girlfriend to Marinette than Adrien was as a boyfriend and friend.

Zoé's character deserves more appreciation and a lot less criticism from the "fans" if only because until now she's the only friend of Marinette who never hurt her and remained faithfull toward her

We don't talk enough about Zoé believing that Marinette would do all that shit but unlike others who were disgusted Zoé took the blame and wanted to protect Marinette. Not teach her how to be a better person, just spare her the consequences. She was like "so what if Marinette is a criminal I love this girl I will go to jail for her if I have to she's worth it". Zoé is the only character I can't physically be mad at. Even Adrien was standing still. Zoé took the bullet. Zoé is the ultimate Marinette simp.

Not gonna lie, I haven't watched enough episodes with Zoé to have a very clear opinion of her! These two give the impression of Marinette/female!Adrien to me 🤣🤣 Seems like a very fluffy pairing.

I'd say I'm quite neutral!

Fei/Marinette

Hmmm... I can understand why some people would like them as a couple, they reminded me a bit of Canaan/Maria (anime: Canaan) in some scenes, but I see them more as platonic or family! It's a bit hard since Fei only appeared in an OVA, and things went on quite fast, I didn't really feel a lot of romantic chemistry between them. Honestly, before watching it, I was expecting Fei to be (one of?) Marinette's cousin😅 I would have liked it if they had been, but I don't mind Fei being adopted by Marinette and her Uncle at the end 😆

Aurore/Marinette

Looks more like an OC/Marinette pairing to me, not in a bad way. I mean, Aurore is a background character, one can do whatever one wants with her because she's basically a blank slate (like Mireille or other background characters). Unfortunately, I've seen them mostly in salt fics so I might get a tiny bit wary when I see the tag 😅

Much as I enjoyed the Zoenette crumbs and Adrienette almost kiss, I find it absolutely frustrating “Adoration” works so hard to make me hate Chloe for stuff that’s only possible because the administration at their school is so freaking unreliable. Like, she is awful in the episode and her going out of her way to frame Marinette (and by extension Zoe) was messed up and flat out evil - but do you really expect me to blame her for the fact that Francois Dupont is such a hell school that you can have a classmate expelled on your word (and the bare minimum of “evidence”) alone with no one doing diddly to help you out/actually investigate the apparent incident, or the fact that your teachers (and parents and friends) have so little apparent faith in you that they’ll take the known bully and harasser’s side over yours (Well, actually that’s pretty normal for middle school so nvm they got that part right). This is twice now (first being “Ladybug”) where you’ve had a student accused of being a bully with very little evidence and the school immediately jumping to kicking them out without a proper investigation - which should be their first thought/act considering that the last time they had this kind of incident, the “victim” flat out admitted she made stuff up afterwards. Even attempting to suspend my belief with “It’s cartoon logic/necessary for the plot” I can’t help but feel upset for Marinette that none of the teachers at the school actually want to do their jobs properly and seeing both her (and Zoe) suffer for it. You should at least have someone in the room going “Okay, considering we have a magical supervillain who can give powers to anyone they want and Marinette has a clear alibi (and you know, is usually a good student who doesn’t steal), we’re going to check this out and actually make sure this is what actually happened. Until then, the both of you go home for the day” or something?

Either way, I see a lot of salt fics about this episode coming in the future.

Luka is the one thing stopping me from headcanoning Marinette as a lesbian. Literally the one thing.

Her crush on Adrien is so over-the-top that it feels performative. Like she watched some anime, learned how girls with crushes act (in anime) and then applied that to the first attractive guy she had a romance flag with (the umbrella scene). Their romance has gotten nowhere and it’s at the point where I you could tell me that Marinette is actively self-sabotaging on some level because she knows somewhere deep down that this isn’t what she really wants and I’d believe you.

Meanwhile she also:

-Has the most standard adorable meet-cute with Zoe Lee

-Absolutely adores Clara Nightingale (and lets Clara dip her! While smiling and blushing!)

-Calls Kagami “brilliant, strong, cute”

-Is constantly being physically affectionate with other girls (especially Kagami, who she straight-up tackles at least once)

And that’s just what I remember off the top of my head.

Luka and Marinette are obviously into one another. I like them as a couple. But if not for Luka’s existence, I would be 100% ready to say Marinette is gay and dealing with some serious compulsory heterosexuality.

TL;DR: Marinette has major disaster bi energy but the main straight romance is so poorly written that she almost comes off as a lesbian and it’s only the side quest romance (lukanette) that stops me from committing to that interpretation

Okay maybe I missed it somewhere, but do you have a list of your AU ideas that you’d want to eventually write for ML? I know you said you might take a break after LfM is done, but I would love something to look forward to!

Like, I know you have a lot of Adrien salt. Would any of your new AUs have a different pairing? Or would you have no pairings? Or canon pairings?

You’re of course going to change up the miraculous lore, but which change goes to which AU?

Would you do whole rewrites or just partial? Or is one fic a rewrite, one partial, etc.?

Would you do any more kwami swap fics? Like, Marinette getting something other than the Ladybug?

Sorry for all the questions, I just really love your writing. Hope this doesn’t come off as pushy. 😅

TLDR; Could I please have more info on your planned (or not-so-planned) ML AUs? 🥺

All ideas I've thought of but haven't started I keep on a powerpoint. Otherwise I don't have anything publicly. Unless I know its coming soon, I rather not make anything public as hype can arise yet it's not coming, either not soon or at all.

But to answer:

1. Pairings will vary. Felinette is what I like most, but could be Marigami or Lukanette too. Might also try for Ninette sometime. If we get more eps of Zoe, particularly without Chloe, I might also like Zoenette (though for now I only like them as friends). Only thing I can confirm is that I am no longer doing Adrienette romantically. Most I'll do is them having crushes on each other and becoming friends. That's it.

2. Lore changes depends on the story. Majority is going to be canon compliant, at most I'll change up powers and names as I don't care for canon's choices there. Unless something is being made to work with my lore ideas, I'll make that clear in the tags on Ao3. But at the core, the lore changes are more for me personally as canon's lore drives me crazy so I change it up for my satisfaction. I'd like to use my lore but most ideas I have work with canon.

3. I'd love to do a rewrite but I kinda want the show cancelled/over first so I can look at the whole thing and then start making decisions. I hope I can make decisions when/if I get to that point. There are some ideas that could count as rewrites or partial rewrites.

4. Oh yeah. Honestly, I'm tired of her with Ladybug so I have a few swaps I want to do, though some I'm struggling on what to think story wise as some are initially set up to be similar in set up. Like, "Fu's not in Paris but Marinette got a miraculous from relative or bought it by chance". So I'll need to brainstorm more on some.

5. looks at the roughly 10 folders I have of waiting wips that I have started writing wise but aren't too far into that I don't want to post them yet. You're going to need to be more specific on what you want to hear about. Otherwise this would become a very long post.

For your salt AU fics, could you write a Zoenette fic where Chat is angry this 'Chloe replacement' is getting together with 'his lady'? Or Adrien thinks that it's bad for his 'good friend Marinette' to be dating Chloe's half sister? Or it can be Alya salt where she's angry LadyNoir was sunk by some bee, or angry that Adrienette was ruined by Chloe's sister, perhaps even convincing herself Zoe is as wicked as Chloe but manipulative and she 'brainwashed' Marinette. Please and thank you!

If you have seen a post I made way back (I think) I post my salt fic in the order they are requested... Meaning you need to wait until I post my own work and three more or so requests.

Ask me again about your request and you can forget about it and ask someone else to make it... I don't do well with asking how my work is going at all and would prefer to be allowed to take my time.
