After reading Zero's Journey (loved it) I had a random thought in my mind. Is it possible for a holiday town resident to integrate into another holiday? Would the resident even survive living in a different holiday? I've barely seen any theories about this, so I would love to hear some thoughts about it!

I actually made a post thinking about this exact same thing in regards to Mr. Myzer! Truth be told, I thought this would've been a prominent / big thing in Zero's Journey, since they hinted to it - I was a little disappointed that Myzer's arc didn't lead him to Halloween Town, and how that would've affected the holiday/towns/citizens. We could've gotten a HUGE insight to potential exchanges between the holiday towns!

It makes me wonder if it's possible for Residents to move into a different holiday/town, since they have a purpose to fulfill for the humans with where they are. As I mentioned in the post, an Elf in Halloween Town would be a strange thing - but if Myzer's menacing shadows/past are anything to go by, is it possible for different creatures to integrate into another holiday? So long as they serve the humans, would it be alright? That they all come to the same goal? Or does each holiday prohibit their inhabitants from living in another world, since it would cause another catastrophe like Jack Skellington's takeover of Christmas? Is it magically, or set by fate, to be *impossible*? 🤔

Long Live the Pumpkin Queen *lightly* delves into the Holiday leaders working together, but I would love to know more, if they have certain rules or codes of conduct when it comes to this sort of thing. I like to think they'd share their holidays with each other, teach them about it and maybe even celebrate together! I'm sure that, inevitably, the question would come - could someone from one holiday, simply choose to live in a different town? LLTPQ mentions the leaders/residents *visiting* the other worlds/towns, but I'd love to know what the limits are to that.

One of TNBC's takeaways is that the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. Jack Skellington *couldn't* take charge of Christmas, he belongs to Halloween, and thus had to find his inspiration elsewhere. Maybe there's a limitation that each soul is destined to a holiday and cannot mix/move elsewhere. It's a sad thought, but just one of the theories, if the movie is anything to go by..!

Half-formed DT thoughts (spoilers)

I think it’s interesting that a lot of characters in Dawntrail are pretty decent with good intentions but still hurt others. I think we’re in a fandom understanding stage rn where everyone is trying to point fingers at specific characters like Well Cahciua and Erenville don’t understand each other which means one or the other is Bad but all it really means is that they don’t understand each other. And the tragedy comes from them not having the time or words to do that. Because that can happen even when you strive to understand one another…

same with like, I don’t believe that Gulool Ja Ja was offscreen abusing Zoraal Ja for some reason to make him Like That when all the evidence we see is that he’s a good father, but what we do see is that Zoraal Ja was resistant to communicating his feelings and Gulool Ja Ja didn’t realize he needed to reach out. So that festered despite GJJ still loving him as a misguided son and ZJ seeing his father as the ideal he has to meet. Obviously Zoraal Ja has done other stuff that makes him A Bad Guy but it’s not as cut and dry as fandom character processing and moral categorization always tries to be lol

Sphene is in a similar thing where she’s a foil to Wuk Lamat bc they ultimately have the same motivations. If Wuk Lamat had been through the same situations she could’ve come to the same mistakes and all that, and no matter what happens somebody’s home and way of life gets destroyed. Why does Brother Wen have such a strange expression on his face? What does he have in common with Gao Chong? WOH, episode 8. WKX and ZZS come to the Yueyang sect headquarters. One of the sect's disciples asks them to wait outside. Both men look around. Soon ZJ and SS come outside. ZJ greets ZZS and WKX by name. WKX responds politely to the greeting and ZZS stands there saying nothing. The SS immediately goes on the attack, saying that they were looking for them earlier, but they showed up on their own. WKX asks if the SS was looking for him and he replies that he feels honored. SS tells him to stop pretending and explains that no one expected what happened at Sanbai Manor. He accuses WKX and ZZS of leaving without a word. WKX apologizes and says that when he saw what was happening, he thought they were unwelcome there, so they decided to leave. He adds that they left a note before leaving and asks for an explanation why the SS blames them. SS says it's a good excuse. He points out that the day they left, Sanbai Manor was robbed. He asks how he explains it. WKX replies that he will not comment on it, and then turns to ZJ and asks if he blames him for the theft. ZJ says it's a misunderstanding and explains to SS that they are the benefactors of the Five Lakes Alliance and how he can suspect them. At this point, GC appears and ZJ introduces him to both men, saying that WKX brought ZCL to Sanbai Manor. GC looks closely at ZZS and WKX, and after a moment of silence, asks WKX if they know each other. WKX who was also looking at GC carefully replies that GC is a famous person so he knows him and is honored that GC knows WKX, finally asks if GC knows who WKX is. GC apologizes and says he doesn't know WKX. He adds that since he knew ZZS, he thanks him and ZZS for their help. ZZS looks at WKX and wonders why WKX has such a strange expression on his face and what he has in common with GC. This is the first meeting of ZZS and WKX with GC. ZZS just wants to know if ZCL feels good in his new home, so he thinks it is reasonable to enter the premises of the GC sect headquarters. He doesn't know WKX's true motives. WKX, on the other hand, coldly and calculatedly wants to meet each of the living brothers of the Five Lakes Alliance. Even though he hides his true feelings towards them well, he cannot hide them from ZZS. ZZS does not yet know the reason for WKX's reluctance towards the five brothers. Moreover, in this scene ZZS is a silent observer, years of practice and service at the court of Prince Jin have taught him how to get to know the area without anyone noticing. This skill and observation will come in handy when ZZS appears stealthily at the Manor to meet with ZCL. ZZH here is such a calm contrast to the eloquent and polite GJ. ZZS in the performance of ZZH seems to be a silent boor who cannot behave himself. Nothing could be further from the truth, neither ZJ nor SS noticed that ZZS looked different. Besides, ZZH as ZZS looks great in these outfits, as does GJ as WKX.

do you specify byakuya's mother's name as anastazja with a zj to differentiate her from the canonical anastasia togami (the mother of the weather triplets, asa/hiru/yoru togami) from the side novels?

It's mostly that Anastazja is the Polish spelling of the name, and I headcanon his mother as being from Poland. I also headcanon her maiden name as being Polanski, which is what Togami used as part of his disguise in the novel. These are all headcanons of course!!

The name means resurrection and Togami at the end of the competition becomes The Togami, so to speak. He goes from being out of the competition ('dead' as he refers to the exiled siblings) to being the only one 'alive'. He resurrects, in a way.

This is a sad thought, but what would happen if someone found Gamzee and ZJ? Would they take ZJ away or something worse?

Actually have a few concepts for that!

-Gamzee getting badly hurt and ZJ screaming and crying and their telepathy screams into the minds of ppl nearby, forcing ppl to become either curious or panicked and going towards.

-Gamzee getting sick and unresponsive from malnutrition and generally unhealthy and ZJ finding them and getting help.

-Someone sees ZJ get snatched into the forest and panics and tries to get him. They catch up and find ZJ with Gamzee, obviously happy comfortable.

-Gamzee coming out in attack mode when they find that ZJ is in danger before grabbing him and running.

None of these situations is ZJ taken away because Gamzee is obviously a caring and good guardian, and ZJ is greatly taken care of and loves Gamzee very much. It obviously would damage ZJ way more to be taken away then to stay with Gamzee.

Though I'm can't guarantee ppl won't be SUS of Gamzee tho.

I'd imagine Gamzee would work themselves into interaction much more after.

There is something very comforting in people's ability to resonate with fiction, and how through it, we're able to discover and share things with each other, and maybe even not feel so alone and isolated with our woes and joys.

In fiction I found a treasure trove of experiences, jewels and shinies to keep with me even if in 'reality' I wasn't finding much comfort. Diving deep into stories and exploring characters and their world has been something I've found a lot of fulfillment in for as long as I can remember, and I'm proud and grateful to feel like I'm part of the collection of people from all over the world and all throughout history that simply have a passion for sharing stories.

Our real experiences, the emotions we get to feel per proxy through fiction, and the processing and learning that happens when you put it all together is a fascinating alchemy.

It's a little funny in this bittersweet way that I felt immediately curious about Zoraal Ja, and I couldn't but feel compelled to fill in the blanks because it felt just... incorrect, unfair, an oversimplification to leave his story summary as ending on 'whoah, dude sure went craycray, guess he was just a bad egg'. And then a week of pondering later, it clicked. 'Oh...' indeed.

Anger is an 'ugly' emotion that tends to earn scorn in turn, a frown inviting a frown, when other kinds of expressions of suffering are often received with a little more compassion or patience. A character showing fear and uncertainty, grief and depression, seems easier for people to connect to emotionally, as a crude pattern. It's 'approachable'. The same seems to apply to real people.

Frustration, resentment, confusion that furiously demands an explanation, defensiveness that does not ask for space politely but puts up its barbs...

In my experience, it's very easy to end up being painted as 'the bad guy', even if you're just reacting to pain that is caused by others, and all you really want is for things to stop tormenting you.

Anger often gets people to mistakenly assume you can't be hurt, that you don't deserve to be handled with consideration and care in the same way as someone who expresses their hurt as sadness, anxiety, exhausted helplessness. It gets people to assume you're untrustworthy, antisocial, unempathetic. An enemy, a problem, an ego to take down a peg or two.

It's easy enough to start believing that about yourself, too. That your anger is strength, proof that you don't need anything from others. That unlike those that cave in and run for comfort and beg for mercy, you have dignity, you can do it alone, you can endure what they crack under, you are Resilient.

When you're really just suffocating in a bell of isolation, without a mirror to see yourself clearly in, and it's all distorted and it's up to us to help ourselves, and we should be capable of it, we should overcome our own weakness, we should, should, should...

Zoraal Ja keeping people at arm's length? Good lord, I don't need to have anything spelled out to me to *recognize* this phenomenon, this invisible bear trap you can be caught in and if you dare to squeak in pain, all you'll get is people blaming you for being stuck in it in the first place. Like you deserve it, like you could've known better, like you could maybe first try being a little nicer to people, a little more... grovel-y.

The unfairness of it is *maddening*, and it can be so difficult to talk about because showing people these sharp and pointy feelings and letting out the storm of confusion often gets you stunned silence at best.

'I trust only in myself'

Oh, Zoraal Ja, there's no need for that but holy pancakes mate, I get it, I get it so well. It sounds like an obvious absurdity if you look only at the surface layer, but such feelings exist in real people, and real experiences cause such self-defeating beliefs to take root and grow.

The people that should be protecting us, loving us, supporting us... They don't, somehow it looks like they just can't, like we're immune to their help. The fuck are we supposed to do about that, huh?

Why does it happen? Fuck if anyone can tell you. Seems like a you problem...?

If you get rebuked enough times, you just stop trying, you stop expecting it to be worth the drag of trying and failing to explain. You show people that 2+2 = 4 and they keep asking why it's not 5. Fine, be wrong, then, I'm done fishing for understanding. I don't know why I feel the way I do either, but being told 'well you're just emotions-ing all wrong' is useless as hell.

We're in pain, bear it with the most stoic face we can, and when we let people a little closer, they can hurt us more out of sheer lack of empathy, ignorance, missing the signs and having no clue how they're just doing the same things as everyone else that makes us want to slam the door and go back to sulking alone. 'Misunderstood' is an apt term here - people suck at 'reading' it, and what they think they see is not the truth. Ah, but then we're the ungrateful meanieface jerk, eh. 'Yo, I'm just trying to be nice, what is your damn problem'.

People making us feel like I'm some kind of inhuman construction with a forcefield that makes people draw all kinds of conclusions about us *other than the reality as we feel it*. That's the problem tyvm.

But sometimes, through fiction, we get to see ourselves reflected.

We find others who stared and went '...hi there, familiar face', too, and we get to pile up what we've learned along the way about what's going on here, and learn from each other that maybe our experience is hardly universal, but we're not alone, and we're as human with emotions that can be understood as everyone else.

Some kinds of understanding are just trickier to find, and I'm glad that the fruits of my obsessive digging and scratching and biting at the issue have yielded me some insights that stilled my confusion and allowed me to slowly let go of the agitation of having no clue what's going on.

Funny, huh, how 'understanding' really is a fundamental pillar of coping. Once you start seeing the telegraphs, find out where the tooltips have been hiding, and you turn off the dazzle of effects that obscure the source of danger, well...

Let's say I've become a little better at dancing my way through content over time, and it makes me happy to know that some of my tricks are helping someoneone else find their feet a little easier, too.
