After re-screening Stephen Chow's two classic works "Westward Journey: The Moonlight Box" and "Westward Journey: The Marriage of the Monkey King", as the mainland copyright owner of the films The Western Film Group is planning to make these two films into animated films. In the recent registration and approval of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, two animated films, "Westward Journey: One Moon Light Treasure Box" and "Westward Journey: The Marriage of the Monkey King", have been confirmed to be approved. Judging from the synopsis of the story, it is basically consistent with the plot of the live-action movie. Zixia grew up as the child of Chinese immigrants, having moved to the United States a couple years before her birth. Her father, the leading perfectionist of the family and lawyer at heart, her mother the woman who’d left a life dictated by her family behind in order to start anew with her husband in the States. The girl followed in her parents footsteps, holding onto their desire for her to make something of herself although it became obvious quite early on that despite the ever flowing perfectionism, Zixia herself had more of a creative outlet and less of a drive to become a lawyer like her father.

Still, the girl grew into a teenager that put effort into her studies and eventually was accepted into Harvard Business School. It was during her time there that Zixia came across the events and venues that eventually would allow her to consider turning her soon be done business degree into something the young woman would use to build her own business; the planning of weddings and events. While perhaps a seemingly small goal, it worked perfectly with her wish for the idealistic path.

Her mother passed away soon after she graduated from Harvard and her Dad ended up being the one encouraging her to take her ideas to New York; seeing it as a perfect place to start a Wedding and Event planning business. She set out for the world; nothing was the limit and her business soon took off. During one of the events set up by her, a wedding no less, it would be that she’d meet her future husband, Joshua. Joshua seemed like the sweetest gentleman but much like Zixia, he was a workaholic at heart and over time it became an issue.

Two and a half years into their marriage, Zixia discovered that he was cheating with another, coinciding with the death of her father around the same time. Missing her best friend, struggling with the grief and finding herself in the middle of a divorce, Zixia struggled to find the motivation to keep going. On top she still had to manage her business, trying her very best not to let private matters keep her from performing at peak condition. It took its toll on her and soon she could feel the exhaustion, nearing a point of burnout.

Knowing she had to get out, finally she took the chance, made the choice to leave her old life behind. Too much pain, too many sad memories held in New York for her to consider staying in the US. Years after her friend had moved, the need for a fresh start brought Zixia to Las Rio, having seen the beautiful sights and venues during the times when she’d visited her friend, Zixia found a new home in Canada, finally allowing herself the rest she had needed so badly while building up her new business. Despite the perfectionism, this time around she was determined to get it right.

BIOGRAPHY:

With the first sunlight of that day Zixia opened her eyes to the world. Rumor has it that ravens could be heard overhead when she was born; a sign her mother saw as proof that she was destined to be a Ravenclaw. Her father is said to have played the piano for hours out of sheer joy at the birth of his daughter. Her family was a circle of warmth and kindness; purebloods with a sense of the old yet respect for the new. Zixia grew up knowing that there was more than simply blood purity to hope and wish for. Perhaps it came down to her parents that the young girl grew up with a sense of respect for all living beings. While her father was a bit more of the old kind - hoping for a bright future - her mother simply wished for happiness.

Much like her mother had foreseen, pointing to the ravens that had flown overhead the day Zixia had been born, upon finally receiving her Hogwarts letter and being sorted once at school, the girl ended up in Ravenclaw where she blossomed into quite the smart young woman. Zixia could be found in the library for days on end, going through the books as though she lived in whatever world presented itself to her; be it  one of fantasy or knowledge. Her only words of discrimination were those against all those who couldn’t be bothered to spend anytime preparing for a life outside the walls of the school they all called home, priding herself on her smartness and individuality.

Upon graduation, Zixia Chang began to train with the ministry of magic. At first having considered a career with the Committee on Experimental Charms, her parents convinced the young witch that a career as an unspeakable might have been the better path. It was one of the rarer moments when their wish for a little bit of pride and glory overshadowed their wish for their daughters joy and although there was love for the position she eventually found herself in definitely existed, it wasn’t the original path Zixia would have chosen.

There in the Department of Mysteries she found herself at home, growing fond of the work and pushing her actual dream to the far back of her mind. Like a flower she would blossom and bloom into someone very much dedicated to the task at hand. Mostly found in the time and brain room with small dabbles in the time section, research became her primary objective.

It was during her time at the ministry, at the same time, that Zixia fell in love and in between the pursuit of knowledge ended up getting married to someone who was so very different from anything she’d ever thought. Perhaps it was the small happiness the witch had granted herself amidst a war. Zixia had never picked a side, unsure what to make of the chaos it all brought. Until the very day would come that a choice would be forced upon her, the witch would stand her ground.

Is there any adaptation where SWK does stay happy with his love interest?

There is surprisingly not a LACK of SOs that do end up with a Wukong but just that you have to be willing to accept it as "Wukong" so to speak.

But otherwise, it is very rare that there is a universe Wukong ends up with a love interest… mostly cause a lot of adaptations are based in the middle of the journey, they are Retellings, hence the return to the status quo is only to be expected, or that it is afterward, where Wukong becomes Victorious Fighting Buddha.

In most circumstances, adaptions that would have Wukong with an SO and have the circumstances where they are able to get together are without a doubt going to be more Alternative Universes where the setting is completely different or Appropriations where they are more character-inspired than anything else.

This is all the one that I am AWARE of at the moment but as you can see a lot more Retellings/Continuations are where Wukong's SO dies and this is mostly for the case of keeping the status quo and moving on with the original plot. They are more like additions of the OG story that let Wukong have his character moment.

It is far more with Alternatives Universes or with other Continuations that there are more 'alive at least' SOs, some in the case of reincarnation or being in a different setting for the plot otherwise. Some of them don't even end up WITH WUKONG (most likely save their lives).

Just depends on what you are watching but traditionally Wukong does not have alive SOs for the sake of the plot/character development, while in other he has them alive where he is less Sun Wukong or is it taken out of the xiyouji context.

If you have any more please let me know cause a lot of plot summaries just DONT include any mention of a romance subplot. I can only imagine WHY.
