3 Body Problem
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
3 Body Problem (Season 1, 2024, USA)
Creators: David Benioff, D.B. Weiss & Alexander Woo (based on the trilogy by Liu Cixin)
Directors: Derek Tsang, Andrew Stanton, Minkie Spiro & Jeremy Podeswa
Mini-review:
As a huge fan of any story related to aliens, conspiracies and all that stuff, I couldn't miss out on this show. And, thankfully, I enjoyed it a lot. One of my favorite things is that it focuses mostly on the scientific aspects of the plot, instead of throwing a bunch of senseless action scenes into every episode. It's not like there aren't any set pieces, but they're just not the focus at all. The whole cast does a pretty solid job, but the standout is without a doubt newcomer Zine Tsang; her performance is stunning, even though she's only in half of the episodes. Tbh, my biggest complaint is that the CGI leaves much to be desired, considering all the resources that went into making this show. And also, given the concept, I think the show could have been a lot more adventurous in terms of visuals. But still, 3 Body Problem was a pretty good sci-fi show. I hope we get to see more, but if we don't, I'll probably check out the original books.

3 Body Problem (prods. David Benioff, D. B. Weiss & Alexander Woo).
Netflix's cerebral, big-budget international television adaptation of the acclaimed but dense and long considered unfilmmable (as evidenced by a never released 2015 film) Chinese hard sci-fi novel trilogy Remembrance of Earth’s Past by computer engineer Cixin Liu hardly skimps on its ambitious scope. Layered with an alien first contact narrative and theoretical astrophysics conundrum, the series rushes through its Cultural Revolution political backstories, scattered character relationships, and mysterious plot machinations reloving around a life-liek virtual reality video game.

hello! i newly figured out i am intersex, however i haven't been able to find much content talking about intersex experience, history or community, when i first realized i was queer originally i found a lot of content like that and found it helpful, and i was wondering if there's any recommendations you might be willing to give about any content on being intersex or intersex creators who you think people should know about!
Hey!
This ask honestly made me really happy, because when I was searching for people and resources to share with you, I realized how much stuff has been created in the past 5 years. When I was diagnosed as intersex, I felt like there was so much less stuff than there even is now, so it makes me really happy to know there is more stuff, even if it's still hard to find.
Some of the things I've put on this list are outdated or might include perspectives that I don't completely love, but might include important historical context. It is also a very US centric and English language centric resource, although I have linked to organizations in other countries and would love if people added on recommendations to intersex resources in a variety of languages. As always, take what resonates with you and leave behind the rest!

Books with he/art -- new TKC #ArtistsBookLibrary series now online (and eventually on-site) 💛📚 #Repost @taikwuncontemporary • • • • • • #心水藝術家書籍:第一回 #LoveBooksByArtists №1 香港藝術家曾冠群是自學成才的攝影師,喜愛探索我城生活變化無常的面貌。 Hong Kong artist and self-taught photographer Jimi Tsang explores the living conditions of a city perpetually in flux. The Hong Kong he portrays appears calm on the surface—and yet the sadness and tension of the city seeps through in his formal compositions and subtle observations of facial expressions and gestures. Echoes of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Daido Moriyama, and Bruce Gilden emerge in the artist’s unflinching depiction of pre-and post-Handover Hong Kong. This week, Associate Curator of Education & Public Programmes Louiza Ho selects Moments in Limbo’, a 40-page, self-published photo-based zine by Jimi Tsang, printed in an edition of 150. The zine artfully and powerfully compels us to observe attentively, and brings us on a journey to the uncertainties of the future. The balloon on the cover encapsulates the state of affairs: something that symbolises joy and celebration is now frozen. Does this evoke something celebratory—or something in limbo? #LoveBooksByArtists features bi-weekly selections of a single artist book from the Artists’ Book Library—a growing collection of Asia-centred, artist-driven publications. The Artists’ Book Library also runs and hosts events; last year, Tsang took part in ‘Under-Cover: Investigations in Art Publishing’, a programme series curated by Hera Chan, Ingrid Pui Yee Chu and Louiza Ho that highlighted practitioners using books as a medium of artistic expression. 曾冠群,小誌《Moments in Limbo》(2015-2018),照片由藝術家提供。 Jimi Tsang, 'Moments in Limbo' (2015-2018). ASK ME ANYTHING ! . . . FINAL
To express Johnson's love towards clay, I decided to make this zine completely by hand. My interviewee, Johnson Tsang, as a ceramic artist, creates all his works by hands, and the hand-made zine is going to have the same ways of making to make reference to his way of making artwork. The use of masking tape at places strengthen the idea of handmade and it is the material he used for markings. The hard and thick cardboard cover and back, and the thin Japanese paper (1st and last page) have uneven and random marks like dirt mark on it. I think the material makes the design relatable to Johnson’s working environment and the colour helps to link the zine to the clay. The cardboard, canvas and masking tape have a unique sandy texture which forms contrast with the smooth paper texture of the zine representing the flexibility of ceramic. It makes it coherent to Johnson’s thought about ceramic – be soft. The brown colour of the paper for the inner page links to ceramic. Since the paper has a dark colour, the semi-transparency of the tracing paper help balanced it out. The semi-transparent characteristic of the tracing paper also adds visual interest to the zine, giving the reader a hint of the answer to the question. The irregular way of placing the image and texts represents his unrestricted ideas and free working style. The use of blue colour thread links to few of his works such as ‘gifted’.
