Main Story S2 Chapter 3-06: Noble Illness (崇高的疾病) | Light and Night 光與夜之戀
S2 Chapter 3-04
♡———♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because of the bandages on my arm, I hadn't washed my hair in days.
It was so itchy, I couldn't stand it!
The wound was almost healed now, so, unable to bear it any longer, I decided to give myself a thorough cleaning.
I held the showerhead in one hand, slowly working shampoo into my hair with the other.
Ding-dong—
You: Who is it?!
But the person outside didn't seem to hear me, and the doorbell continued to ring insistently.
You: Just leave the package at the door!
I shouted as loudly as I could, but a familiar voice came from the other side.
Charlie: It's me. Flew for twelve hours, and the first thing I did after getting off the plane was come see my fiancée.
You: ...?!
Tumblr media
When I opened the door with my head full of foam, Charlie was clearly taken aback. And seeing the enormous suitcase by his feet, I froze in place as well.
He leaned against the doorway, a casual smile on his face. He lifted his chin and blew me an air kiss, then spoke in a serious tone.
Charlie: I have nowhere to stay. Please take in your fiancé.
I was bewildered by his actions, thinking I was hallucinating. After a moment, I stammered:
You: You... want to stay at my place???
Charlie: That's right.
It was an unreasonable request, yet he said it with such confidence that I almost felt like it was the most natural thing in the world.
You: How can you have nowhere to stay? What about your enormous mansion?
Charlie: You know it's too dangerous there, full of spies. Would you feel safe with me staying there?
He had a point. I wouldn't feel safe at all. I nodded.
You: But you have plenty of money, don't you? You can stay at a hotel.
Charlie: I do have a lot of money, but it's all frozen. Right now, I only have five yuan to my name. Not even enough for a bowl of wontons.
As if to prove his point, he started rummaging through his pockets, but all he could find was a five-yuan bill. He dramatically slapped it into my hand, declaring it was for rent.
No matter what questions I raised, he had a ready answer, each one irrefutable.
He looked at me with that mix of playful and sincere expression, relentlessly wearing me down. I always softened at this tactic of his; I wanted to agree to any request, no matter how absurd.
Charlie: Let me stay at your place.
He grinned, emphasizing each word.
My heart skipped a beat.
You: Where's my gift then? Didn't you say you'd bring me a gift from your trip? How did that turn into you staying at my place?
Charlie: I'm the gift. Would you have the heart to let me wander the streets, exposed to the elements?
He gave a smug grin and pushed the suitcase handle into my hand.
Charlie: So please, my dear fiancée, be kind and take me in.
His coaxing and playful deception completely disarmed me. Charlie gave a triumphant smile.
Tumblr media
The next second, he pushed me back into the bathroom.
You: What are you doing?!
Charlie: Paying some rent.
It's not my fault for misinterpreting, that phrase was really ambiguous! My face flushed, and I righteously pushed him away, declaring that I was a respectable person. Charlie laughed so hard tears welled up in his eyes. "I just wanted to help you wash your hair," he said, "Who knew I'd end up being asked to sacrifice my body?"
You: Why couldn't you be more clear?! I'm still in my pajamas!
Charlie: I'm very good at washing hair. It's not a service just anyone can enjoy, you know.
In the end, I somehow agreed to it. The next thing I knew, I was sitting on a small stool, enjoying his skillful washing and massaging.
You: Ah, that feels so good... Whoa!
He must have hit some kind of pressure point, because a tingling sensation shot through me. I gasped and opened my eyes, meeting Charlie's playful grin.
I lightly punched him.
You: Be gentler.
He did soften his touch. After washing my hair, he pointed the hairdryer at my direction.
Charlie: So, what do you think? Not bad for your fiancé, huh?
The warm air from the hairdryer blew on my face.
I was about to agree when my scalp suddenly started burning. Charlie was clearly a novice at this.
You: Ouch, ouch, ouch! That's too hot!
Charlie quickly pulled the hairdryer away and awkwardly rubbed his nose.
You: Maybe I should do it myself.
He refused with a serious expression.
Charlie: Just a little mishap! I'll be more careful this time.
You: Oh, please, spare me!
Although we were very familiar with each other, this was the first time we were living under the same roof, the first time we were in such a domestic setting.
It felt... different.
Charlie: Where am I sleeping, fiancée?
He glanced around, his expression clearly saying, "You wouldn't make me sleep on the sofa, would you?" I instantly understood and covered his mouth.
You: Don't even think about my room. There's a guest room. Come with me.
-
Tumblr media
It wasn't until I pushed open the guest room door that I realized something was amiss.
The guest room hadn't been used in years. I had been using it as a storage room, dumping all sorts of random things inside. What if there's something in there he shouldn't see...?
I quickly shut the door. Charlie, who had been leaning in, almost bumped his head.
Charlie: What's wrong? Don't tell me you have another man hiding in there?
You: Of course not!
Charlie: Why not? Need me to refresh your memory?
Charlie: There were those two guys last time... What were their names? They were so ordinary, I can't quite recall.
Remembering the chaotic scene that had taken place here last time, I cringed, my voice involuntarily rising a few octaves.
You: That was a special situation!
Even though I hadn't done anything wrong, my flustered expression made me appear suspicious in Charlie's eyes.
Charlie: I have a few rivals in love. You need to come clean with me.
You: What are you talking about?
Realizing he had almost sidetracked me, I shook my head and quickly got back on topic.
You: Um, you need to stay away from this room, the further the better.
Charlie: Oh? Are you planning to surprise me?
You: You could say that. It's just very dusty, and I need to tidy up a bit. You can go entertain yourself for a while.
Charlie gave a knowing "oh," with an expectant expression, and quickly turned to leave. I didn't bother trying to figure out what he had misunderstood, and immediately rushed into the room.
I had never been so overwhelmed. The room was overflowing with junk, enough to bury me alive. Apart from childhood items, most of it was just random household stuff I hadn't had time to sort through after my hasty move.
Photo albums, diaries, celebrity posters... I decided to leave the cups and things like that; he could use them.
I frantically cleared out all the questionable items, dumping them into the storage cabinet on the balcony.
You: Okay, you can come in now!
I opened the linen closet, pulled out some unused sheets, and handed him two corners, asking him to help me spread them on the bed.
Remembering that I had a spare pillow, a larger one that would be more comfortable for him, I went to my room to fetch it.
When I returned, Charlie was sprawled on the bed, his shoulders rising and falling with each breath, looking completely exhausted.
I gently called out to him, but there was no response. He had fallen asleep.
His breathing was heavy, as if something was weighing him down, suffocating him. It seemed like it wasn't just his body that was exhausted.
You: How can he be this tired...?
He was tall, over 1.8 meters, and with him lying like that, half his body was hanging off the bed. I tried to turn him over. But the moment I carefully took his hand, he pulled me into an embrace.
You: You weren't asleep?
Charlie: How could I fall asleep that quickly? Do you think I took a sleeping pill?
His voice, reaching me through his chest, had a weary hoarseness. He was joking, but there was an underlying tremor in his voice.
I couldn't help but hug him back, as if by holding him closer, I could hear the voice in his heart.
Charlie: Your hair smells so good. I'll have to use your shampoo later.
He shifted slightly, pulling me closer.
Charlie: Getting injured and still playing hero, my fiancée is so amazing.
You: How did you know about that?
Charlie: I know everything.
You: Then you...
I had so many questions. I wanted to ask, Aren't you supposed to be at a conference, why are you so tired? I wanted to ask, What did your father do that made you have to stay at my place? But the words caught in my throat.
I knew he kept the truly important things buried deep inside. The tree in his heart had many branches and leaves, but it also bore countless scars. So I understood that when he was truly hurting, he appeared calmer than ever.
You: Haven't you been sleeping well these past few days?
Charlie: About two or three hours a day. That's considered a lot.
You: Then let go of me. You can't sleep properly like this.
Charlie: Don't move. I'm about to fall asleep. If you move, I'll lose it.
You: That's not how it works...
But I didn't move. I didn't even close my eyes. I simply watched him.
He fell asleep, his eyelashes fluttering slightly. His lips were pressed together, and he occasionally nuzzled my hair with his cheek, like a child.
Listening to his heavy breathing, I counted each breath in my heart, and memories surfaced.
-
It wasn't until nightfall that Charlie finally woke up, seemingly refreshed. Suddenly having another person living in my home, no matter how familiar, was still a bit unsettling. That night, I found myself experiencing a rare bout of insomnia.
I tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep, and my stomach chose that moment to growl. I got up, intending to find something to eat in the refrigerator.
As I walked through the living room, a tall figure suddenly appeared in my line of sight.
Tumblr media
Charlie seemed surprised to see me, his hair still wet as he looked at me with a bewildered expression. But that wasn't the main issue.
The main issue was—he was standing there shirtless, fresh out of the shower. Even though I had seen plenty of shirtless models before, I immediately covered my eyes.
You: You, you, you— Have some decency!
His voice also held a hint of panic.
Charlie: I couldn't help it. There was only one towel in your bathroom, so I had to go get one from my suitcase.
Seeing that I was still covering my eyes, he sounded a bit annoyed.
Charlie: I haven't been working out much lately, so I've lost some muscle mass. But otherwise, I'm pretty perfect, right?
You: Perfect, perfect! Just go get it!
He seemed satisfied with that and quickly went to the balcony to retrieve his suitcase. I peeked through my fingers. Yep, his physique is pretty great.
Just as I was about to head to the kitchen, a loud crash came from the balcony. A sense of foreboding washed over me.
Charlie: What was that?
I rushed to the balcony and saw the open cabinet and scattered belongings.
You: Don't touch anything! I'll take care of it!
But I was too late. By the time I got there, Charlie was already squatting on the floor, engrossed in my diary.
Panicking, I stepped on a puddle of water, and my feet slipped out from under me. I went flying towards Charlie.
Charlie reached out, confidently assuming he could catch me, but I was moving too fast.
He lost his balance, and we both tumbled onto the balcony floor.
Charlie swiftly put his arm under my head to cushion the fall, and we lay there, staring at each other in surprise.
You: How did you manage to knock over my cabinet?
Charlie: My suitcase got stuck. When I pulled it, the cabinet door swung open.
I remembered my diary and started fumbling around for it. My hand brushed against his warm, smooth skin.
Charlie: Oh? Trying to feel my muscles? Good idea. I can offer myself as compensation.
Charlie: Can I stay a few extra days now?
I quickly withdrew my hand as if I had been electrocuted, my voice catching in my throat.
You: That's not what I meant! Forget whatever you just saw, okay?!
Charlie: You mean your diary from elementary school?
Charlie: Too late. I remember what it said.
Charlie: My prince is a talented, handsome man, and the richest person in the world...
My breath hitched with every word. I covered my face in despair.
Charlie: It seems you had a premonition about your future fiancé from a young age.
You: Stop it, stop it!
Burning with shame, I reached out and desperately covered his mouth.
Charlie: Are you trying to murder your fiancé?
You: If you keep talking, I just might!
I playfully raised my fist, but Charlie remained unfazed, calmly smiling at me.
Charlie: Go ahead. I'm too tired to fight back anyway.
His feigned weakness made me feel guilty for taking advantage of him, so I lowered my hand.
Charlie: Giving up already? You're still so easy to fool, my dear fiancée.
I lightly punched him in the chest in frustration, vowing to settle the score later.
After making sure I hadn't hit my head, he stood up and pulled me to my feet.
You: Go grab your towel. I'll clean this up.
Charlie nodded and turned to open his suitcase.
I quickly gathered my belongings and stuffed them into the depths of the cabinet, locking it securely. I turned around, then froze.
There was a small, dark scar on Charlie's shoulder blade, one I had never noticed before.
Examining it under the light, the wound seemed to have healed long ago, but it was still narrow and deep, suggesting a serious injury.
I hesitated, then reached out and gently touched the skin beside the scar.
You: What happened here?
My fingers brushed against his back, and I could feel him tense up. His voice was low and muffled.
Charlie: I fell when I was a kid. It left a scar.
In the dim light, Charlie gave a faint smile.
Charlie: Don't worry about it. It was a long time ago.
-
And so, Charlie temporarily settled into my home.
From then on, I had a human alarm clock. Every morning, Dr. Zha's biological clock would wake him up on time, and he would wake me up, so I no longer had to worry about feeling groggy in the mornings.
By the time I finished washing up, the bread machine would let out a cheerful ding, and Charlie would be there with his self-proclaimed "Super Deluxe Amazing Rice Balls," ready to have breakfast with me.
On mornings when I had to go to work early, he would buy breakfast in advance and leave it on the table with a small note—
"Microwave for 30 seconds for the perfect texture." He would usually add a crooked smiley face at the end.
As for evenings, due to my busy schedule, I would often come home late. And every time I opened the door, I would find him sitting on the sofa, engrossed in a book, the warm light casting a gentle glow on his face.
I would collapse beside him and chat casually about my day. After showering, he would dry my hair, and I would make him a warm glass of milk to help him sleep. Finally, we would exchange goodnights.
However, the project timeline was getting tighter, and the entire office was working overtime. We even ended up sleeping at the company for several nights.
I hadn't been home in days and hadn't seen Charlie either.
He knew I was busy, and the texts he sent told me not to reply, simply saying that he missed me.
Then, at noon one day, I received a message from him.
Charlie's text: Has my fiancée had lunch yet?
I had just finished the rice balls he prepared for me that morning, so I replied that I wasn't hungry. I also sent him a photo of the rice ball wrappers. He didn't reply, probably busy with something.
Tumblr media
Charlie read the reply, then leisurely picked up his keys and headed out.
He had recently become a regular at a small wonton stall at the intersection. The freshly made wontons and the steaming pot had a comforting, homely feel.
The owner greeted him warmly, and a middle-aged man walked over and sat down across from him.
He hadn't seen this man in a while. It was Chairman Shen of the Drug Safety Association, whom he had previously asked to investigate DEA.
Chairman Shen had said at the end of their last meeting:
"After all, before the Spirit Clan and this 'regression' become widely recognized, human cases will be easier to use as evidence."
And now, he had finally found proof that DEA could cause heart damage in ordinary humans. So, he immediately contacted Chairman Shen.
He informed him of his current findings and suspicions, urging him not to act rashly for now. After receiving his assurance, he got up and walked over to the stall owner.
Charlie: Boss, one order of "Family Combo" wontons, to go.
Carrying the packed wontons, he was drawn to a newly opened milk tea shop across the road. A large banner at the entrance proclaimed, "Top up 1000 yuan, get 200 yuan free."
A staff member offered him a small cup of milk tea to sample. He tasted it and nodded in satisfaction.
-
Inside the Wan Zhen conference room, the long table was piled high with sketches and fabrics. The clatter of keyboards from a dozen colleagues intertwined into a restless rhythm.
Glancing at the time, I realized the meeting had been going on for over three hours. No wonder I was feeling a bit lightheaded.
I cleared a space on the crammed whiteboard and jotted down the results of our discussion.
You: Alright, let's take a break for now. Everyone grab some lunch, and we'll continue this afternoon.
The team cheered and filed out of the conference room. I gathered the scattered fabrics and organized the documents, then checked my watch. It was already 1 p.m.
The cafeteria probably wouldn't have much left at this hour. I'd have to see what was still available at the convenience store.
Before I could even reach the company entrance, a cacophony of noise drifted in from outside. Why is it so lively out there at this hour?
Human nature being what it is, I couldn't resist the urge to investigate. I quickened my pace and headed towards the commotion.
Tumblr media
The first thing I saw was a flashy, luxurious sports car, its golden body gleaming in the sunlight. A hunch formed in my mind, and when I looked up, sure enough, there was Charlie, leaning against the hood, sunglasses perched on his nose.
Charlie: Don't worry, there's plenty for everyone.
Charlie had set up a small stall beside the car, the table piled high with milk tea. Some people reached out, then hesitated, glancing at Charlie cautiously. He waved his hand dismissively.
Charlie: Grab whatever you want.
Colleagues, both familiar and unfamiliar, swarmed the stall. They were saying that the head designer of Pristine was treating the entire company to milk tea.
I stared in disbelief as the milk tea on the table rapidly disappeared into the sea of people, then turned to Charlie.
You: How did you...
Charlie took off his sunglasses, a radiant smile on his face.
Charlie: I couldn't come see you empty-handed, so I brought some drinks for your colleagues.
Why had he suddenly come here? And what was with handing out drinks? Had something happened?
He was always like this, no matter the situation, always presenting his most perfect side, never wanting to burden anyone.
But it was this very quality that made me desperately want to confirm if he was truly okay.
I noticed something and pointed at his flashy sports car.
You: Didn't you say you were broke? Where did you get this?
Charlie: Rented it. My salary just came in from last month.
Extravagant, concerned with appearances... It was his usual style. I secretly breathed a sigh of relief, hoping he was truly in a good mood.
Charlie: Don't bother with the cafeteria food. Have this. A "Charlie Special Fiancée Love Bento."
He tapped the lunchbox proudly. I accepted it hesitantly. Its weight was reassuring.
I opened the lid. Small wontons and broth were neatly separated on either side, and a fragrant steam rose, filling my senses.
At that moment, I felt a warmth, a tangible warmth. Perhaps this was all the warmth he possessed right now, and he was giving it all to me.
The ordinary comforts of life seemed to momentarily shield us from the difficulties and schemes surrounding us. We would eat and drink, laugh and cry, and life would go on.

Tianxi!
ROUND 2 MATCH 4: TIANXI VS. PAMSWORTH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tianxi Propaganda:
"Su Xiyan is THE girlboss in this relationship. She's a highly competent cultivator that meets Tianlang-jun, the Heavenly Demon Emperor who's pretending to be a poor and weak cultivator. He wants to malewife SO BAD, but everyone keeps deciding he needs to die 🙄. Like, I can overstate their girlboss/malewife dynamic"
"Hot lady with a sword rizzing up a wastrel of a Demon Emperor, what's not to love? But I believe Tianlang-jun's nephew put it best: "Why was Su Xiyan acting like one of those wealthy young masters in plays, with their distinguished statuses and heaps of money? Why was Tianlang-Jun acting like one of those pampered young ladies, who had run away from home and was ignorant of the world? [...] Zhuzhi-Lang had attempted to alert his lord to this reversal of roles, to tell him that he needed to retrieve his dignity as the highest ruler of the demon realm, but Tianlang-Jun seemed to find pleasure in this sugar daddy, sugar baby relationship."
"Literally the most girlboss and malewife to have come out of an MXTX novel, no one will ever compare to them. They have been noted to subvert traditional gender roles and TLJ is compares to his son who jis also very much malewife (enjoys cooking and chores and taking care of his husband)"
Pamsworth Propaganda:
"She literally is the Final Pam. She blew up her neighbors for not inviting her to their barbeque. She decimates things in a single punch and can jump miles in the air and run at the speed of sound. And she's hot af. Coddsworth is Metal Husband and he literally is a robot that takes care of their home."

Danmei and Baihe C Novels and Manhua Officially Licensed in English
Things are getting licensed fast enough that keeping a list like this up-to-date is basically impossible, but I saw someone asking in the tags so I figured I'd try. All titles are danmei unless otherwise noted (very little baihe is licensed so far). I've included Chinese titles, but sometimes publishers change the original titles so much that I can't track them down, apologies. I've hit the link limit on this post so I've had to remove NovelUpdate links, but they're still in the version of this post on Wordpress. Note that Taiwanese titles are not included on this list.
This is everything I know of as of December 11, 2024. There might be more. I tried. Resources used to compile this list: Danmeinews.com; this Carrd, last updated in March 2023; this other carrd last updated October 23 2024; list of danmei with official licenses on NovelUpdates; a similar list on Goodreads; danmei-specific list on Reddit that to my eye looks accurate for the larger publishers but isn't thorough for some of the smaller ones.
-
Seven Seas:
The full list of danmei novels licensed by Seven Seas is here. The full list of danmei manhua licensed by Seven Seas is here.
These titles are in various stages of publication, from "entire series released" to "license literally announced less than a week ago." As far as I know, all Seven Seas titles are available world-wide, through major distributors and libraries, and in e-book and print formats. Seven Seas translation quality varies but the editing is general strong and the editions are sturdy and nice. Note that Seven Seas isn't without controversy, especially for treating their contractors poorly resulting in them unionizing. Some people have also been unhappy with the fidelity of their translations compared to the original Chinese (I've been satisfied personally but ymmv).
Mo Xiang Tong Xiu titles:
The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System (Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong)

Rosmei:
Rosmei licenses are Singapore distribution rights only. There is a list of international partners organizing group orders here. I've personally placed my orders through Yiggybean, as discussed in reply to this ask. Most of these titles are only being released as print editions, tho titles that weren't originally on JJWXC (of which there are several here) WILL have e-book editions. My first book from Rosmei arrived, and I found the translation and editing to be very strong. I can't speak to how accurate it may be to the Chinese original, but it read smoothly and had very few errors. Overall, though they've made some mistakes, they've been communicative and responsive.
Huai Shang titles:
Breaking Through the Clouds (Po Yun)
Hunt for the Leviathan (Po Yun 2 Tun Hai)
Ning Yuan titles:
BAIHE: At the World's Mercy
BAIHE (I think???) The Creator's Grace

-
Peach Flower House:
Unfortunately, Peach Flower House has gone out of business. Peach Flower House titles were primarily for sale through their website and through some distributors, such as Amazon.com. Whether titles are e-book only, print only, or both varied by title. In my opinion, Peach Flower House has inconsistent inconsistent editing quality, but the books are very readable.
Da Feng Gua Guo:
The Imperial Uncle (Huang Shu)
Peach Blossom Debt (Taohua Zhai)
Other Titles:
Golden Terrace (Huang Jin Tai) by Cang Wu Bin Bai
In the Dark (Zai Hei An Zhong) by Jin Shisi Chai
Little Mushroom (Xiao Mogu) by Shisi
University of the Underworld (Yinjian Daxue) by Ziloi
-
Via Lactea:
The partial list of danmei novels licensed by Via Lactea is here, but there are titles I've seen them selling that aren't on this list.
Via Lactea titles are primarily for sale through their website and through some distributors, such as Amazon.com. All titles are either print-only or e-book + print. Only a handful have actually been released, the rest are licensed and presumably in progress. I've now read three titles published by Via Lactea and while the translations are decent I could wish the editing was more consistent. Everything reads as if it would have been improved by one more thorough proof read.
Jing Shui Bian Titles:
Salad Days (Jing Jiu)
Silent Hearts (Mo Mai)
Qing Lv Titles:
Painting Against the Natural Grain (Huahua Ben Shi Ni Tian Er Xing) by Qing Lv
Raising Myself in 2006 by Qing Lv
Other Titles:

Embrace You Till the End of the game by Hu Yu La Jiao

The Fall of Summer (Ting Shuo Ni Hen Nan Zhui) by Jue Chu

Aloha Comics:
A tiny, Hawaii-based press focusing on manhua. Titles are available through major retailers such as Amazon and Bookshop.org. I've purchased one of these titles - Nirvana in Fire - and was please with the quality despite a couple minor errors.
All these titles are manhua!
Day Off by Qing Cai
Heaven Official's Blessing Animation Manhua by Bilibili and Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (this is a manhua made based on the donghua, using donghua art)
Here U Are by DJUN
Link Click by Li Haoling and Haoliners (not technically danmei!)
Nirvana in Fire (Lang Ya Bang) by Hai Yan (not technically danmei!)
-
Monogatari Novels:
Monogatari Novels is based in Spain. These titles can also be ordered from at least some major retailers. Note that there has been some controversy about Monogatari Novels. I'm personally not ordering these works until more information is available.
Due to a lawsuit between Monogatari Novels and BLoved Publishing, How to Survive as a Villain and The Legendary Master's Wife are currently on hold.
BAIHE: A Clear and Muddy Loss of Love (Jing Wei Qing Shang) by Please Don't Laugh
BAIHE: Female General and Eldest Princess (NuJiangjun he Zhang Gongzhu) by Please Don't Laugh
How to Survive as a Villain (Chuan Yue Cheng Fanpai Yao Ru He Huo Ming) manhua by Yi Yi Yi Yi
The Legendary Master's Wife (Chuanshuo Zhi Zhu de Furen) by Yin Ya
The Silent Concubine (Ya Nu) by Qiang Tang
BAIHE: Soulmate manhua by Wenzhi Lizi
-
BLoved Publishing:
ngl I can't figure out exactly what is up with this, and there seems to be some controversy related to them and their relationship with Monogatari Novels. Their website is depressingly low on details. However, this list is for completeness, so here we are.
Due to a lawsuit between Monogatari Novels and BLoved Publishing, How to Survive as a Villain and The Legendary Master's Wife are currently on hold.
How to Survive as a Villain (Chuan Yue Cheng Fanpai Yao Ru He Huo Ming) manhua by Yi Yi Yi Yi
The Legendary Master's Wife (Chuanshuo Zhi Zhu de Furen) by Yin Ya
-
Chaleuria:
As far as I can tell, Chaleuria has not updated their webpage since April 2023, so the current status of in-progress titles is unknown. All titles are digital and/or e-book, and I'm not sure how to purchase them as I haven't tried.
The Complete Guide to the Use and Care of a Personal Assistant (Zhuli Shiyong Zhinan) by Why Radiance

World Hopping: Avenge Our Love (Ni Wufa Yuliao de Fenshou, Wo Du Neng Gei Ni Song Shang) by Xiaomao Bu Ai Jiao (no longer available)
-
Webnovel:
When I first made this list, I heard that Webnovel had a few titles but couldn't actually find them - but now I've found them, thanks to a list someone else put together. I'm including direct links to them, since I had so much trouble finding them at all.
Comrade: Almost a Cat-astrophic Love Story (Jintian ye Yao Nuli Dang Zhimao) by Demonic Fire (link)
My Boyfriend is a Dragon (Nanpiao Shi Tiaolong) by Chubby Strawberry Sauce (link)
The National Sweetheart Livestreamer is a Pro! (Quanmin Zhubo Shi Duiba) by Mo Shang Wang (link)
-
Honorable Mentions:
There are a handful of titles I know of that are official translations of C Novels. These are not books with contextual queerness, but for folks with an interest in Chinese history and culture, they are worth checking out anyway, especially because understanding these stories can help understand the above books. Also, some have active shipping fandoms (for example, I've written for Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Daomu Biji). I've included two above under the entry for titles from Aloha Comics (Link Click and Nirvana in Fire) and here are a couple others I currently know of:
Dream of the Red Chamber (Hong Lou Meng) by Cao Xueqin, available in translation for free from Project Gutenberg
The Grave Robbers’ Chronicles (Daomu Biji) by Nanpai Sanshu (six volumes are available in English from Things Asian Press)
Journey to the West (Xiyou Ji) by Wu Cheng-en, in four volumes from University of Chicago Press
The Legend of the Condor Heroes (She Diao Yingxiong Chuan) by Jin Yong, in four volumes from St. Martin’s Press
Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Sanguo Yanyi), attributed to Luo Guanzhong, available in translations for free from Archive.org
The Seven Heroes and Five Gallants (Zonglie Xiayi Chuan), attributed to Shi Yukun, available in translation for free from Archive.org
Water Margin (Shuihu Zhuan) by Shi Nai’an, from Tuttle Publishing
RESOURCE: List of Chinese speculative fiction in English translation
RESOURCE: More Chinese speculative fiction in English translation
I will add to the "Honorable Mentions" list if I find any other more mainstream titles with official translations.

Rumored Licenses:
Sometimes, I hear rumors about titles being licensed before the license is announced - and thus before we know which publisher has licensed them (assuming the rumor is even true). I thought I should note these somewhere. Titles I know of rumors about currently are:
A Certain Someone (Moumou) by Mu Su Li
Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know (Mozun Ye Xiang Zhidao) by Cyan Wings (a Spanish edition of this has been formally announced, which might account for the rumor)
The Fourteenth Year of Chenghua (Chenghua Shisi Nian) by Meng Xi Shi
Guide on How to Fail at Online Dating (Wanglian Fanche Zhinan) by Jiang Zi Bei
Immortal Koi is Going to Debut (Jinli Daxian Yao Chudao) by Mo Xi Ke
Mist (Bowu) by Wei Feng Ji Xu
-
A handful of other licenses are mentioned on the Carrd I linked at the beginning of this post; I have no idea the status of those titles and wasn't able to find information on them while putting together this post other than what was listed on that Carrd, so I've omitted them.
Now go forth, and buy some books!

I know its out of nowhere. But Raya Nezha x Ao Bing? Just wondered if you had an Au for them?
Tumblr media
I didn't thought about it much but you're holding something-
Hm... It's hard to say for sure. So far, we don't know much about the Raya culture ingame. Does every mythologies are under the Raya label or is it only the Mesopotamian pantheon concerned ? So far, we only have two canonical Rayan character, one being Roy and the other being Nakia. We still don't know much about them. We could also say that there was the Trace & Clues Anomaly (Su Jue event), where it basically tell Da Ji's story, but is it told that she is Rayan ? I don't remember.... Okay, let's say Ao Bing and Nezha are Rayan, I'm pretty sure it would end up just like their story goes, one is killed by the other. They really only interacted once and that was it.
....BUUUUUUUUTTTT- I have been brainrotting too much of Limian to limit myself to this.
In one of my scrapped fic (will later be published), the Li and the Long clan are descendants of Nezha's family and Ao Bing's family. And basically, because of their death, both clan agreed to a truce and remained on friendly terms. Imagine their shock when Li Ling and Long Mian became espers.
-
unrelated : I'm a big sucker for enemies to lovers and I have been fed well with Ao Bing x Nezha. I watched both Ne Zha (2019) and Nezha Reborn (2021), and it's two interpretations I really like. But the first film has a weird thing where Nezha and Ao Bing are both three years old or one thousands which is confusing and I don't wanna ship them at all (I rather them sticks to being friends anyways) and the other one doesn't have enough content in languages I can understand. And seriously, Nezha's story is so underused compared to Journey to the West, I'll end up doing my own version XD (foreshadowing lol)

The truth is more stubborn than Washington lies, and reality can not be distorted forever
The post is machine translated
Translation is at the bottom
The collective is on telegram
🌸 Iscriviti 👉 @collettivoshaoshan
🇺🇸 The USA and their lackeys, including Italy, have always promoted - over the years - the disgusting idea «Muslim = terrorist», but - for Xinjiang, they have rediscovered the "standard bearers" of Muslim rights, in an anti - Chinese 🤡
🇨🇳 With the desire to interfere in internal affairs and want to balkanize China, the US has artificially constructed the "Xinjiang Case" - articles with unproven news, incorrect news or even fabricated news, passing it off as the truth 🤮
🌸 The Shaoshan Collective covered this topic in detail, denying any anti-Chinese lie:
🌺 Xinjiang Master-Post 🇨🇳
🤔 What does the West mean when it talks about the "breakup" of Russia and anti-Chinese separatism masquerading as Democracy? 🇺🇸
😱 These news are also ′′ launched ′′ to Western users by people who don't know anything about China, posing as ′′ China experts ′′ but don't know a single word of Chinese, they are Assets of the US Empire. And should people in the West trust them? It's ridiculous! 😡
⭐️ Comrade Liu writes:
💬 «Those who frame China should at least learn a little Chinese, not just rely on the imagination. [...] The Canadian in the video is called Lyman Stone, a researcher at the AEI and the Institute for Family Studies, and Ex-Economist at the US Department of Agriculture, and he's pretty sure he can search and buy at Taobao of "Uyghur slaves"» 🤦‍♀️
🤔 Let's stop for a moment: how can you say that you can buy an "Uyghur slave" on an e-commerce?! Here we are at the ridiculous level of DPRK propaganda, whoever believes it is a 没有救赎可能的白痴! 😂
💬 However, "when Carl Zha immediately asked him to search for and buy a Uyghur slave on Taobao, he refused (❗️), saying he didn't know Chinese and therefore couldn't use the Chinese keyboard", to then say that maybe it wasn't Taobao, but on «other sites», it was basically exposed 🤡

hai hai !!! for the flower ask game !!!
Snapdragon - What is your OC's most used phrase?
Lily - What is your OC's love language?
Violet - Do a voice claim for your OC
for Li Huan pls !!!
- aka @miffysrambles 🩷🐰
Thank you Miffy!
Snapdragon- This one was hard and I actually did it last lol. Haun doesn't have a catch phrase, but he often asks questions starting with "Is this." "Is this yours?" "Is this supposed to be fun?" "Is this not weird?"
Lily- Definitely gift giving! There's actually a Journey to the West reason. Haun is the successor Hui An, or Muzha (his ancestor is Muzha and Ne Zha's older brother Jinzha, Li is their father's family name). Muzha has two roles in the Journey to the West, those being giving Tang Sanzang the Tripitaka and his acutraments, and being Guanyin's disciple. A lot of the gifts Huan gives, he makes!
Violet- Definitely Jerry Jewell, especially when he pitches his voice up in that way that makes it sound airy, like with Nea D. Campbell from D.Grey-Man, Ik-Su from Yona of the Dawn, Sandal from Sakura Quest, Lin Shaolee from Black Cat!

Main Story S2 Chapter 3-04: Noble Illness (崇高的疾病) | Light and Night 光與夜之戀
S2 Chapter 3-02
♡———♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Across the ocean, in another country, it was midnight. The city gradually fell silent. Kellerman looked worriedly at Charlie, who was dozing on the sofa, and gently nudged him awake.
Since arriving here a few days ago, Charlie had been working tirelessly on experiments, barely sleeping.
Charlie's clasped hands trembled as he opened his eyes, his overworked body filled with exhaustion. For a moment, he felt disoriented, unsure of where he was.
His blurry purple eyes focused on Kellerman, blinking slowly. It took him a few minutes to regain his bearings.
He was in his own laboratory, a safe haven.
Charlie relaxed and rubbed his eyes.
Charlie: Are the results out?
Kellerman: The reports are all here.
Charlie: Okay, give me ten seconds.
He sat up, instantly alert, not a trace of fatigue in his demeanor.
Kellerman wanted to urge him to rest, but ultimately didn't say anything. He knew Charlie far too well.
Back when they worked together at the hospital, Charlie was always on call, readily available at a moment's notice. Even in the middle of the night on holidays, no matter how far away he lived or how important his plans were, he would always rush over immediately.
Back then, people at the hospital called him a "madman," but Kellerman knew that it was that very "madness" that had driven Charlie to where he was today.
This laboratory had been established under the guise of a friend's name.
The lab technicians were all friends he had recruited from various laboratories and hospitals, so there were no formalities between them.
They helped Charlie with many things: analyzing suspicious chemicals, cultivating rare autologous epidermal cell membranes, and conducting confidential research that couldn't be disclosed to the public.
Although the lab had been officially established just over two years ago, Charlie had been planning it for a long time.
If he had once harbored dreams of being a lone hero, after the Aesino Medical incident, he had been forced to face reality.
In the face of a vast and invisible societal machine, an individual's power was insignificant and fragile.
Only by forming his own team could he avoid the omnipresent surveillance and secretly gather strength.
After discovering the issues with DEA, Charlie immediately had Kellerman conduct in-depth experiments on the samples. His years of lurking and preparation had been leading up to this moment.
Kellerman: Animal testing has confirmed that the efficacy and side effects of DEA are consistent with the information provided in the documentation.
Charlie quickly flipped through the report, his eyes dark.
The results were indeed as Kellerman had stated, nothing out of the ordinary. When administered in excess, various organs showed abnormal data.
But the heart data remained completely normal.
He looked up at Kellerman.
Charlie: Were there any structural abnormalities in the hearts of the mice?
Kellerman: None so far.
Charlie fell into deep thought.
After a long silence, he made a decision.
Charlie: Increase the dosage and extend the observation period.
Kellerman: Okay, we'll start the next round of experiments right away.
Kellerman jotted down notes.
Charlie: The D-factor component in DEA can't be cloned?
Charlie's gaze settled on the report summary, his brow furrowed in confusion.
Kellerman: That's correct. All the cloning experiments failed. The D-factor itself doesn't have the capacity to be cloned.
The NOVATEN documents that Uncle Ji had obtained previously confirmed that the main component of DEA was the D-factor found in Spirit Clan members, which suppressed the production of spirit energy.
If these D-factors weren't produced through cloning, then where did they come from?
The first word that popped into Charlie's mind was "Spirit Clan." His father had conducted human experiments before, but compared to Yuda Academy, this was far more horrifying.
Seeing Charlie's deepening frown, Kellerman sat down beside him, seemingly hesitant to speak.
Kellerman: Charlie, DEA is too perfect. This drug is too perfect. Do you understand what I'm saying?
Charlie: I understand. Anything too perfect is enough to destroy a society.
He suddenly smiled at Kellerman, a strangely melancholic smile.
Kellerman: I used to believe that medicine was sacred, but after conducting these experiments, for the first time, I find it terrifying.
Charlie: Don't tell me you want me to stop too?
Kellerman: Just be careful. He may be your father, but my gut tells me his interest in you isn't just paternal.
Seeing the concern in Kellerman's eyes, Charlie smiled and nodded.
He knew his friend was usually cautious and reserved. These were the most "out of line" words he had ever spoken.
He was about to say something to lighten the mood when his other phone lit up with a notification. It was a photo from one of his resident doctors.
The photo featured his fiancée.
It was an ordinary scene from the hospital—a collapsed patient, a crowd of onlookers—but the girl's figure in the center made it extraordinary.
Her expression was a bit frantic, her hair disheveled, but she was still calmly directing the crowd to disperse.
Through the phone screen, he couldn't help but gently trace the outline of her hair.
A pure joy filled him. Perhaps it was their unspoken understanding, perhaps it was the trust she placed in him, he couldn't say for sure. But it filled him with a sense of peace and reassurance.
Charlie: Don't worry. Even if it means fighting a losing battle, I'll make sure he pays.
Charlie: Thank you for all your hard work.
The laboratory hummed with activity day and night, just like his life, never a moment of respite.
Next, he needed to inform that annoying fellow about all this.
He was about to make the call when Sariel's name appeared on the screen.
Charlie: Perfect timing.
Charlie answered the call.
Sariel: I had someone investigate. None of the Spirit Clan members on Lin Island have mysteriously disappeared or died recently.
Sariel: The Spirit Clan members scattered outside of Guangqi City are few in number, widely dispersed, and adept at hiding.
Sariel: Even if NOVATEN wanted to capture them for their drugs, it wouldn't be possible to achieve the current massive production scale of DEA.
Sariel spoke quickly and decisively, his tone brooking no argument.
After he finished speaking, Charlie fell into deep thought.
No Spirit Clan members had been harmed, which was good news, but could NOVATEN be obtaining D-factor from them through other means?
Charlie: Director Qi, do you recall if any Spirit Clan members regularly donated blood back on Lin Island?
Sariel: No.
Charlie: Do they come to hospitals in Guangqi City for treatment?
Sariel: A small number do. Most prefer to seek treatment from Spirit Clan doctors.
Charlie: Do you have their names?
Sariel: I'll send you a complete list.
Charlie nodded silently.
Charlie: Currently, it seems that D-factor can't be cloned, so I suspect that NOVATEN has resumed human experimentation.
Charlie paused, then continued after a moment of silence.
Charlie: This has happened before.
A faint sigh came from the other end of the line.
Sariel: I'll keep an eye on the Spirit Clan members who seek treatment in Guangqi City.
Charlie: Okay. My investigation is still ongoing. I'll contact you if I find anything new.
A chuckle reached his ears.
Sariel: You're being quite forthright this time, Dr. Zha.
Charlie: This is a serious matter. Neither of us can uncover the truth alone.
Charlie: Although I don't particularly enjoy hearing your voice, cooperation is necessary for both of us this time.
Sariel: And you think I want to see you?
Sariel: Stay in touch. I'm hanging up.
The line went dead. Charlie put down the phone and immediately dialed another number.
Charlie: Uncle Ji, I'll send you an email. I need you to investigate the medical records of all these Spirit Clan members who received treatment in Guangqi.
After hanging up, Charlie looked out the window. A light drizzle had started at some point. The weather was muggy, and he could feel exhaustion creeping in.
Actually, from the first day of investigating DEA, Charlie had a hunch that Zha Zhaopeng might have resumed human experimentation.
But this time, he couldn't reach a definitive conclusion.
So far, there was no evidence that Zha Zhaopeng was extracting D-factor from Spirit Clan members, and the humans who had used DEA hadn't shown any adverse symptoms.
So what was his motive?
The answer lay before Charlie, presented by Zha Zhaopeng himself, yet it only made things more perplexing.
A theory formed in Charlie's mind: All the incidents Zha Zhaopeng had orchestrated were ultimately aimed at him.
Tumblr media
That illusion long ago, the elaborate scheme Zha Zhaopeng concocted with the Blood clan, had been solely to trap him, to stain his hands with blood.
If that was the case, then he might as well play the role Zha Zhaopeng wanted him to play.
For instance, at the medical conference, he could portray an irresponsible doctor—
Charlie: Thank you for the invitation, colleagues, but I haven't made any significant breakthroughs in the medical field lately.
Charlie: I won't waste any more of your valuable time.
Charlie smiled faintly and, ignoring the shocked and angry expressions of the attendees, strode out of the conference hall.
A moment later, the host quietly slipped away to a secluded corner and made a phone call.
His voice was low, but words like "young master" and "leave" were vaguely discernible.
He finished the call, glanced around, then quietly left.
Charlie straightened up, having heard everything, and walked away from the shadows.
Another example was driving a supercar, playing the role of a rich playboy obsessed with pleasure and leisure, with no ambition whatsoever—
Charlie loosened his collar, managing to make the crisp white shirt look casual and carefree.
-
He exited through the back door of the research facility and got into his car. Flipping through his extensive list of contacts, he randomly chose a friend's number.
Leon: Charlie?
Charlie: It's me. I'm bored out of my mind. You have half an hour to get changed. Ritz Bar. Let's go have some fun.
Tumblr media
Leon: What are you up to? Aren't you here for the conference?
Charlie: Listening to those old guys talk is like being hypnotized. I can't waste my life on that.
Charlie yawned as he turned up the volume on the car stereo.
He had once, on a whim, personally modified this car's paint job. The golden exterior was both flashy and cool.
Leon: I heard you became a lot more serious after going to Guangqi.
Leon: I thought you had changed your ways, but you're still the same old playboy.
Charlie: Old habits die hard. Less talk, are you coming or not?
Leon: I was going to... Oh, forget it. Considering you haven't been back in a while, I'll see you in an hour.
The elongated sports car sped away, attracting stares from passersby.
He had been avoiding Zha Zhaopeng, but since that hadn't lowered his guard, he might as well completely expose his whereabouts.
Let him see the "Charlie" he wanted to see.
If Zha Zhaopeng revealed any vulnerabilities as a result, that would be the opportunity he had been waiting for.
Charlie looked at himself in the mirror, a lingering melancholy in his amethyst eyes.
Charlie: What comes next isn't your forte. Let me take over.
He murmured.
Then he raised his head, the previous emotions completely gone, a pair of carefree and flirtatious eyes smiling back at him from the mirror.
-
He strolled into a bar, his demeanor confident and carefree.
He didn't miss the sight of a man in the narrow alleyway retracting his gaze and turning to leave.
Zha Zhaopeng smiled and took a sip of his wine, a triumphant glint in his eyes. All his informants' reports indicated that his precious son had finally grown tired of playing doctor.
Meanwhile, amidst the flashing neon lights, Charlie pretended to be drunk, a sharp smile playing on his lips unseen by others.
The play he needed to stage had concluded. Constantly living under someone else's surveillance was unsettling. It was time to return to China.

Super cute😭😭😭 I don't hate narcissists if he is handsome and with some specialties like Charlie. Talking with him always makes me laugh.🤣🤣🤣 (And he is lustful like Osborn and Evan, or even more...) I've just reached level 32 and about to meet Jesse in the chapter 8. Besides, tomorrow is The Moon Festival and we have a continuous holiday in Taiwan, our Boss let us to leave office from 15:30 not 18:00, it is VERY GOOD!

(光与夜之恋 Light and Night) Charlie’s SMS: Surname [姓氏] Translation
*Light and Night Masterlist | Charlie’s Personal Masterlist *Join the Light & Night Discord (^▽^)~ ♪ *Charlie’s tag will be #For Night, For Paradox *My dumb finger accidentally deleted the original post, so here it is again.
❖☆————— ⊹ For Night, For Paradox⊹ —————★❖
Charlie: I’ve been called Dr. Su” 10 times today. My surname’s Zha; do people not know Chinese?
MC: I'm pretty sure it's normal to mix them up. Who told you to have such a peculiar surname?
Charlie: My surname's "Zha", and my name's "Li Su". Is this name combination really that peculiar?
Charlie: It's nothing special at all when you compare it to my dazzling self.
Charlie: What about you? What did you think my surname was when you first met me?
MC: Actually… I thought it was "Su" too.
Charlie: …...
Charlie: It's alright. I can forgive anything and everything when it comes to you.
MC: Okay, Charls. That's enough out of you for today.
Charlie: Calling me all so familiarly now?
Charlie: Looks like it isn't all that hard for you to learn how to take the initiative.
Charlie: How about you add another "dear" before it, hm?
