01 Cyprus: its a worse and more boring version of their song last year 3/10

02 Montenegro: how you feel when you sing karaoke with friends 2/10 for effort

03 Finland: DARUDE?????????????????????? how did i not know he was finnish im a shit nordic person lol 3/10 i guess its a bit catchy but he can’t sing

04 Poland: this song/number makes me feel like im watchin an anime about edgy rock girls idk but it’s also kind of mixed with tellietubbies? It sound generic but odd at the same time? 4/10 bc I lowkey like the edgy vibe but the song is bad

05 Slovenia: omg poor baby shes so nervous, she still manages to sing well though! I like the background and I also kind of dig this song a little bit. Boring but not bad 5/10

06 Czech Republic: they’ve opened for mika and the kooks so my exectations were kind of high which made this even worse. the music is catchy but everything else is bad and awkward. literally the definition of cringe 3/10

09 Serbia: I’m a slut for acoustic guitar and I like her dress. she sings really well and the song is good for a ballad. I’m generally agains ballads in eurovision but I think this is pretty good lol 6/10

10 Belgium: in sweden we have about one million of these young guys who sing so im not really impressed, his singing isn’t great either. its all very meh 4/10

Last time we looked at an interesting episode of Ultraman Geed, as it ended on a good cliffhanger. Now, we find out what happened to Moa, and why Kuruto (Hiroki Suzuki) is on this vendetta. In addition, we will come to understand why Alien Shadow, Zena is no longer like his people. However, will everything that has happen now with Kuruto, and Zegan be able to be amended? Find out below…

  Summary:

Laiha finds Riku unconscious from the previous battle, as Reito/ Zero appears realizing Zegan is a formidable foe. Alien Shadow Zena appears to the group to notify them that Moa has gone missing. Meanwhile, Moa wakes up with an injured left leg in Zegan’s alternate dimension. She soon discovers Kuruto is with her, and exhausted from the battle. Yet, back at AIB, Ultraman Zero is following Zena as he begins to update everyone on finding Moa. Luckily enough the investigation to locate Moa discovers she was not transported out of the known reality, but displace miles away. Zena also informs Riku, and the others the only reason Zegan still exists is because he hoped to use it in a last case scenario to defeat Belial. However, Kuruto and his other former students stole the controller to preserve their race.

In the meantime, Moa attempts to take care of Kuruto, and understand why Kuruto is committing these attacks. Kuruto briefly explains he used Moa only because Zena would not hand over the device, or give him the password needed, “Gabra Cano (Child of Battle).” The scene then shifts between Kuruto explaining the term to Moa, and Zena to Zero. All warriors of Planet Shadow are called “Gabra Cano” due being sent off world to conqueror planets and obtain resources for their dying home world. Kuruto believes Zena to have forsaken his pride as an Alien Shadow, and forgotten his students. However, Moa believes Zena never forgot them or his pride. Soon Moa then explains to Kuruto how she came to work for AIB; a few years ago, Zena found Moa trying to help a sick alien. From there Zena thought to recruit her. This leads to Moa and Kuruto becoming odd friends as they mock Zena’s rough ways of teaching.

Zegan becomes active again, Kuruto rushes to locate it, and Moa attempts to pursue him. The two are found by the others, who attempt to stop Kuruto. Zena explains to Kuruto he originally joined AIB to conquer Earth, but after hearing many of his students died he sought to stop. Zena seeks to live on, so that his students’ memories will live on. However, Kuruto is reluctant to face the facts, and summons Zegan. Riku and Reito transform to confront Zegan, and eventually are force to becoming Ultraman Geed Magnificent, and Ultraman Zero Beyond. The two Ultras bottle Zegan with an energy ball, as Kuruto attempts to unleash the monster’s full potential. While struggling to break free both Kuruto, and Zegan die. A few days later, Reito and Zero meet with Zena asking if he is alright, and on Moa’s condition; discovering Zena is fond of Moa. Whereas, Riku runs into Moa who is depressed that she could not save Kuruto, but how his sacrifice inspires her to continue her dream to bring peace to the universe.

  My Thoughts:

I am let down by this episode to some degree, but still feel it complements the previous half. The episode feels like parts were rushed or missing due to how it is centered on Zena, but focuses on Moa. It is as if the main plot and sub plot could not decide which is which, or better yet figure out if it was a Zena or Moa episode. Having watched both episodes back-to-back a few times, I think the episodes are meant to be for both characters. However, Moa is the focus only because it is to play off Zena being an Alien Shadow, always living in the shadows. Thus, his involvement is to be brief and direct to the point! It is an interesting method if that is the case, but it was not visually pleasing since Moa has been featured heavily. I personally want to see more of Zena, and hopefully see him use his “expression training” at least once. Then again that may be something to be saved for the finale, and Ultraman Geed the Movie.

  Now, in my review of the previous episode I mentioned I wanted to see more from Hiroki Suzuki in this episode. That did happen, but his involvement was not in the way I thought it would be. I thought there might be another fight between Kuruto, and Zena that would be longer than the previous one. However, that did not happen and what is presented is Kuruto’s confliction; Kuruto cares for Zena and his own pride. Kuruto’s care for his pride, and untimely death are the only things truly present, but makes his death somewhat meaningful; Kuruto sought to die a warrior even when presented with an option to live, because it would forsake his meaning in life. Yet, I would believe Kuruto’s death makes Hiroki Suzuki’s appearance is divisive because it feels both underwhelming and satisfying; an unfortunate outcome if I may say so!

  While seemingly sounding negative towards this episode there were things I did enjoy deeply. I like how Moa and Zena both try reaching out to Kuruto, as it foreshadows his tragic death. I am unsure what I prefer more, Moa and Kuruto bond discussing how strict Zena is, or Zena explaining that he wants Kuruto to live. Both moments are truly wonderful, and make it hard for me to choose which is best. In addition, the battle with Zegan is impressive with great choreography that helps tell the story through the action. What made me enjoy and embrace Kuruto’s death was him repeating the quote, “Kam tatahl Shadow” (May Shadow rest in eternity). This quote/ mantra proved he was committed to the cause of his people, and sought to live his life as an Alien Shadow whether it meant life or death. The concept is easy to enjoy having seen various other shows that show a confliction between morality and culture. Even the closure upon his death was wonderful, as Zena confided in Zero the fact Moa is an essential member of AIB, and Moa explained to Riku that Kuruto’s death propels her to continue her job.

    Overall, I was not too keen on this not-so-happy ending, but still enjoy how it was presented. Pacing is just a little weird, but it is an issue in most modern Ultraman series. Eventually avid fans become use to it, but it is still something to be pointed out for newcomers. I would have liked if this episode better set-up the upcoming events of Belial’s return, or Ultraman Geed’s new form. However, it just uses the outro preview to properly do so. That means things will be even more hectic, and awesome in episode 16. Furthermore, my only issue with the next episode currently is its title, “The Beginning of the End of the World!” That simply is one lengthy title…

Genova. Inizia una nuova settimana ricca di eventi all’ Oktoberfest di Genova, in programma fino a domenica 22 settembre in Piazza della Vittoria.

Non solo gastronomia bavarese e birra, ma anche tanto divertimento, con i flash mob della nuova rassegna OktoberFlash, in programma domani, martedì 10 settembre con l’esibizione degli artisti di calcio freestyle di Asd Live Freestyle, e venerdì 13 settembre con lo show dei ballerini di tip-tap dell’Officina dell’Arte Tap Dance. Sabato 14 settembre sarà invece la serata del “ Prosit da Guinness”, in cui l’Oktoberfest genovese e la nostra città proveranno a entrare nel Guinness dei Primati per il brindisi più lungo e partecipato della storia dell’Oktoberfest. Domenica 15 settembre, a partire dalle 8:30, è in programma il Raduno Vespe 500 organizzato da Matteo Scuro.

Da giovedì a sabato, inoltre, continuano le serate di musica live di Oktoberband, che giovedì 12 settembre vedrà salire sul palco dell’area esterna i Modern Soup Workshop, quartetto di stampo jazz che rivede a modo suo classici della tradizione afroamericana e non solo, venerdì 13 settembre Borgo Serini & Pocket Blues, band blues composta da Gianni Borgo e Davide Serini che si esibisce anche in formazione elettrica, e per concludere, sabato 14 settembre The Goldy Flame, band rockabilly, country e swing anni 50 e 60. In seconda serata si balla con il dj-set dall’elettronica al rock ‘n’ roll a cura di Tot en Tanz. Domenica 15 settembre torna invece la serata country con il gruppo Wild Angels Zena.

Tornano anche questa settimana le attività di Dogtoberfest con gli amici a quattro zampe di Skadog Liguria, che da venerdì a domenica avranno uno spazio riservato con laboratori di agility, riporto, pet therapy e molto altro. Nel fine settimana, riprendono gli appuntamenti dei Weekend delle Famiglie, le attività dedicate ai più piccoli, che tra sabato e domenica vedranno i piccoli visitatori impegnati con truccabimbi, giochi, palloncini, birilli, pennarelli al baby point gestito da Unitalsi Genova e in laboratori di cioccolato. Ogni sera, inoltre, dalle 18 alle 20, nel tendone esterno risuoneranno le canzoni di Rocktoberfest, una playlist che proporrà brani lounge, blues, classic rock, soul e disco, creata appositamente da Dario Gaggero di Disco Club e scaricabile da Spotify/Oktoberfest Genova.

Orario di apertura: da lunedì a venerdì dalle 18 alle 2, sabato e domenica dalle 12 alle 2.

Week-End Update: Malvern Merriment

We had a pretty busy week-end in Malvern and, despite the cold & the rain, it was a magnificent one overall. Our Raffles For Ruffs Fundraiser at Twenty9 Restaurant & Bar was a huge success! It really was a fun night, the food was great, the prizes were awesome (Chuck, we really do expect a picture of you in those Chihuahua leggings!) and the pics from the photobooth – well, some of them were questionable and very funny. We didn’t have any time to recover to post pics, etc. from the night yet because it was off to Malvern Blooms this morning. It says a lot about what a great community event Malvern Blooms is when there’s still a huge crowd on such a cold & rainy day. Thanks for everyone who stopped by to spend some time with the pups & chat with us, and came out to support the local community.

It was also a great week adoptions too. Legend’s new family met him at the Yellow Springs Art Show last Sunday and it was a love connection. They couldn’t have been more excited and ready to take the plunge when we approved their application, so we know it will be a happily ever after. Legend’s brother Icon, now Fenway, also made a love match to celebrate gotcha day this week. A few more of Guess’s pups were adopted: Prada, Versace & Kors – who was adopted along with McCall! Rocket, now Greyson, Robert and Kasie were also adopted this week.

“The communication with you guys is excellent and has become an almost regularity around here.  Ranger is doing great!  He’s settling in more and more everyday, relaxing more, and becoming a better dog all the time.  I think he’s finally starting to realize this is his permanent home.  We’re consulting with an in-house trainer on a few things to help strengthen our relationship.  It’s great having him around.”

“Prue is settling in well. She’s gone for several walks, loves her backyard and porch, and is getting to know all of the neighbors by barking loudly at them. She also lets us know whenever a UPS truck drives by. She is the sweetest girl and we love her to the moon and back.”

“Triton is doing great. He is everything I could have hoped for. He is full of energy and drive and could not be better looking. He is coming along well on learning to obey. That being said he is a total German Shepherd with emphasis on the German. Since this is not my first GSD his stubborn trait is no surprise. I have had to walk away from the situation a few times when it is so obvious he knows what I want him to do but refuses to comply. We will get to the goal as he is too wonderfully smart to give up on.

In fact I had planned this first week to be bonding not training. The bonding has gone great so we sill have a few days before we start “training.” Just yesterday he has started eating well. Chasing balls is a challenge so I am working on runs and walks for exercise. Last Thursday night we has an intense thunderstorm and he had a meltdown. Once he calmed down I let him sleep on a rug beside my bed which he has done every night since, and will continue to do so. When we go outside he never lets me out of his sight.

Riley came over Monday night and is here again tonight. They are pretty good buds and Riley is a pretty patient dog handler. Everyone here loves him. I posted several photos on Facebook last night and he now has fans in three continents.

All in all it is hard to believe he has only been here one week, it feels like he has been a part of the family a long time. He is getting along with the three other dogs here on the property and my daughter’s pit mix. Twice he has shown a bit of what I think may have been jealousy when I petted the other dogs. My Bad. I need to keep that rolled up newspaper to smack myself on the head when I forget what to do and what not to do.

He is a great dog. Thanks for getting him for us.”

“We are definitely enjoying every day with Timber (formerly Clover). He loves running around outside playing ball, just as long as his sidekick, our 6 year old son, is playing with him. Otherwise he sits and waits for him at the patio door. We had Timber at the vet for his check up Monday where he weighed in at 102.5 lbs. He’s our big mush ball and we wouldn’t change him for the world! “

“She really is… such a great dog and friend.  Thank you for allowing us to adopt her… Kai is smart dog.  I trained her in two days on electric fence long ago, she runs all over the yard, loves to chase birds and play with my Norwich Terrier, Chase.  I recently bought her a Whistle 3 GPS tracker for fun, and it tracks her activity and level of intensity.. Its like a fitbit for dogs in some ways but keeps track of her anywhere she is located.  No chance she would leave the yard but I wanted it anyway.

I hope all her siblings are enjoying life and Mom Louise is doing great too.”

Pemads revue offers a glamorous outing

Bob Eveleigh writes: The Port Elizabeth Musical and Dramatic Society (Pemads) will stage a revue, Iconic Broadway, in the Little Theatre from May 10 to 21. There will be evening performances at 7.30pm plus 3 matinees at 2.30pm on Saturday, May 20, and the two Sundays of the run on May 14 and 21.

Promising “two hours of glamorous entertainment”, the show has been devised by Leslie Speyers, whose theatrical career in Port Elizabeth has been sensationally revived in Port Elizabeth of late, with his double Clover Showtime Award-winning debut (Best Actor in a Musical and Best Comedy Portrayal) as a pantomime dame in Pemads Puss in Boots in December, followed by an equally hilarious, highly original outing as Dogberry in the PE Shakespearean Festival’s Much Ado About Nothing in February.

Singing the best of Broadway in this latest “songs from the shows” programme – there have been many such concert-style events from the PE Gilbert & Sullivan Society as well in recent years – Speyers will also headline the revue as lead male singer, teamed with female leads Marelize Booyens and Kelly-Leigh Mucka.

Audiences will meet new voices Zena Bally and Laura Fullbrook, supported by male PE show regulars Sikho Gaika, Glen McIlroy and Litha Hewitt-Coleman.

Choreographer Sian-Beth Hitchner also dances with Emma Albertyn and Mariska Knoetze.

There will be evening performances on May 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 19 and 20 May plus the three matinees.

Tickets are priced at R80 and booking is at all Computicket outlets – these will also be available at the Little Theatre box office 30 minutes before each performance.
