These pieces showcase how dynamic and abstract ceramics can be. I want to be as creative as possible with the materials I use in my own work.

Innumerable Porcelain Pieces Form Flowers and Coral in Zemer Peled’s Textured Sculptures
From her Baltimore studio, Israeli artist Zemer Peled sculpts countless spikes and oblongs into densely textured artworks. Amorphous forms bristle with porcelain pieces of varying shape and hue, mimicking organic elements like coral reefs and intertwined vines. Other sculptures depict oversized blooms with the firm, pointed edges of each shard directly contrasting the soft and fleshy petals found in nature.

Otherworldly Botanical Sculptures Formed With Thousands of Porcelain Shards
Artist Zemer Peled creates something whole from things that are broken. Her ceramic sculptures of plant-like organisms are formed with thousands of porcelain shards. The arrangements are a spellbinding combination of colors, texture, and forms that have an otherworldly appeal. Her In Eden series, in particular, conveys this sort of beguiling beauty; the pieces have an inviting warmth to them with tropical greens, pinks, and oranges. But at the same time, their texture is defensive with porcupine line-like needles that cover their entire surfaces.

Zemer Peled, HUNTED
Installation part of a group show: “Hope, Terror, Promise, Rage: Contemporary Perspectives on the Past,”Old Montana Prison Complex, Deerlodge, MT, USA“
At times, we must deconstruct and reconstruct ourselves in order to have hope. I have created a fragile environment depicting what the prisoner was looking at day in and day out; porcelain lines are suspended from the ceiling creating a three-dimensional drawing in space. The porcelain fragments are bound to each other by pure gravity. Inspired by the prison bar pattern, each of the fragments are hanging on to each other, dependent, creating a ghostly cell. It is a small territory that one cannot enter.” - Zemer Peled
