Just FYI, Nana also wanted me to tell you all that she is doing much better, and is ok after the whole incident-- but wouldn't have been if it weren't for all the kindness of this fandom! Hey there lovelies! I'm trying very hard to catch up right now, hopefully it'll happen over the next couple days as home and work slows down.

Today I'd like to send out a gentle reminder to take some time for yourself this week! This is the time of year when a lot of folks are busy taking care of others, getting things ready for family or friends, and honestly, a lot of times we forget to take care of ourselves. Take a break-- take a day off work that's just for you if you have the capacity. Buy yourself a little treat, or do something on the list of chores that YOU want to get done and not that other people need you to get done.

Some of you may have TOO MUCH time for yourself and want time with others-- so be sure to reach out if you do! People get busy during the holidays and they can forget to check on folks because their minds are occupied, but I can guarantee you they think about you often, and want you to be okay. Holidays can be such a mixed bag, and not one person will have the same experiences with them, so do what you need to do for YOU. I hope you have a restful week and nothing too crazy goes on. Rest up, drink some water, and know we <3 ya. Night crew!

Zayre Ferrer showed up to strike in a unique way

On Thursday June 14, Our Flag Means Death writers, actors, and fans united outside of the Warner Bros lot in Burbank, California to show support for the striking Writers Guild of America. (Read more about the strike here.) One writer from the Our Flag Means Death writers room couldn't attend in person, but that didn't keep them from taking part in such a special day.

Zayre Ferrer shared that they could not attend the event in person due to being severely immunocompromised. Luckily, they had a sibling who could help out. Zadry Zerrer attended the strike event in person, wielding not only a black, white, and red WGA picket sign, but also a small felt puppet version of her sibling Zayre, featuring a phone (on video call) for a face and an outstretched arm holding a tiny picket sign.

As for why Zayre went to such extreme (and amazing) lengths to attend the event, Zayre Ferrer told Popverse, “I just wanted to be there with the writers room and our fan base which is amazing." They added that they were excited to take part in an event focused on getting "a fair deal for everyone and [preserving] the future of our craft.”

Love Notes are going to be a bit different tonight. So much of the cast sent love so I wanted to share them here. I am not going to be able to say anything more than what they've said, but I want you to know this. I know you're all hurting so much. You have every right to be angry and frustrated, and scared. Take some time to yourself. Get some rest, create something, drink water, take your meds. Fall back on others for help. You mean so very much to so many of us, and we will feel the loss of any single spark of you so profoundly. 505. The Sunday Salespapers, December 4, 1988, part 1

This year, I chose 1988 because I was five and this is the first Christmas I really truly truly remember. I was in Kindergarten.

I'm so forklempt that I can't figure out where at the old Newmarket North mall where this boat was. This was a a year before the doomed remodel that began the death of the mall into the 90s.

Totally not news, but here's a kid eating a hot dog at a Christmas parade for some reason.

This isn't the greatest illustration of Perfume Pretty Barbie, but I had to include her because I had her. Can't remember if it was for Christmas or a tooth fairy present? I still miss that perfume, my mom threw mine's out because she didn't like it. Is there anybody in 2024 making a perfume that smells like Perfume Pretty Barbies?

Aw, I miss it when department stores had ~events~. I'm still mad that I'm not old enough to remember Thalhimers. It turned into Hechts a couple of years later.

I do have a Snow Bear however. Bought him off eBay. He's a big boi. Here he is next to my tree a couple of years back.

Red Baron! Red Baron! I have a commercial for them on my YouTube page! I made a post about it on my retail blog and people still comment on it.

Pretty sure this was the last Christmas for Zayre. I want to know how dead Zayre was at 2am. Where is that Vampire Robot person on YouTube with footage of that.

Zayre did have the Garfield tent in its waning days however!

Ohhhh, this flamingo bath set is soo late 80s. Didn't Roseanne have a flamingo shower curtain?

I only took a screencap of this terrible illustration of a nail polish set from Phar-Mor because my mom had this! This and a Roger Rabbit book are the only things my family ever bought from Phar-Mor. That store was always madness growing up so we never went. I still remember how those Apple brand nail polishes smelled! My mom wouldn't let lil me use them and she gave the glitter one to my older half sister and I was devastated because I was like six so of course it would be devastating.

i want to be ruthless to ofmd s2 and all the criticisms surrounding piracy & the slave trade. but it's just that ... ofmd is clearly a product of david AND the writers room. and knowing there are a couple of black writers there (last time o checked but zayre and alyssa!!) so i trust them more than myself tbh

Some more of the Xa-Qui family.

This is Zayre Xa-Qui, younger brother of Mazen Xa-Qui.

He looks very similar to his brother as he saw Mazen as a role model to follow after but he does have some differences.

Zayre's eyes are more dark, his hair is longer and less curly than Mazen's, Zayre has two circular marks, one under his lips and one of his neck. He also always wears his farmer robes that are often dull colours while Mazen wears grey saint robes.

Zayre has a scar on his left hand from a farming accident when he was 12, which also helps to show in the drawings if it's Mazen or Zayre.

Zayre was 5 years younger than Mazen before a horrible tragedy occurred that caused him to lose his life at age 20.

He doesn't have a lot of personality yet but at least I've drawn him now.
