It was Jazz's 18th birthday. Finally. She was so excited. Her, Danny, Mom, and Dad were going to stay up until 12:15 AM in order to know if she has a soulmate or not. Mom and Dad were. (Not that they flaunted it much. They forgot that others didn't just know.) She really hoped she had one, too.
It had been a great day. Tucker and Sam came over to give her presents. The food didn't come back to life. Everything they ate was actually edible. The presents were just what she wanted. Mom and Dad didn't even disappear to work on things downstairs. It was too good to be true. Anxiety started to well up inside of her. Everything had been great so far, so there had to be something that would go wrong.
But nothing went wrong. It was going so smoothly, Mom and Dad had commented on it. It was 5 minutes to 12 and still nothing had happened that would make this day less than perfect.
The thought struck her then: What if she didn't have a soulmate? It was very much possible. Not everyone had one. She knew Tucker's and Sam's parents didn't have soulmates. She knew that even though her parents were soulmates, it didn't mean she would. She knew that having a soulmate was a chance.
She'd always been so certain she'd have one, though. That she'd be in her body at 11:59 PM on the night of her 18th birthday and be in her soulmate's at 12 AM. She'd been certain that she'd spend 24 hours trying to figure out who her soulmate was and how to find them. She'd been certain that she'd get to know some of their family and friends in those hours.
Now, she wasn't so certain. Now, she was scared that she'd been deluding herself with fairy tales for years. Now, she was nearly certain that she'd be facing disappointment when she opened her eyes.
...
When she opened her eyes? When did she close them?
Blinking open her eyes, she looked around. At first she had no idea what she was seeing. There were people around her. They were all wearing costumes for some reason.
"Zatanna?" The man closest to her asked in concern. "What happened, love?"
Her brain was moving pretty slow, but the only thing she could think of was that not only was her soulmate - Zatanna? - part of a strange cosplay group for characters she'd never heard of, but is probably going out with the greasy blonde dressed like a homeless person.
Her soulmate being in love with someone else wasn't something she'd considered, but it was enough to ruin her entire day.

WE ALL PRETEND TO BE THE HEROES ON THE GOOD SIDE [VILLAIN, Ch. I]
Tumblr media
Read on AO3 here!
— W A Y N E   M A N O R —
The crescent moon was weak. The night’s soft smirk was useless against the shadows that slithered across the magnificent lawn. Blood-red skies were the only true light left; the death of the day.
Raven’s fingers trailed along the cool stone step. It was smooth; marble, not concrete. Knowing Alfred Pennyworth, the steps were probably clean enough to eat on, let alone sit on.
Warm gold light pooled across the steps as the doors creaked open. A shadow crept across the stone.
“Are you nervous?” the shadow asked. The voice was soft and deep. It’s usual demanding undertone was gone.
He sat down on the step beside her. Pine filled the air. Their knees brushed together. A small, delightful tremor ran through her body at the slightest touch.
His hand sought hers, quick to envelope it in warmth.
Raven shrugged, “A little, I suppose.”
“You have nothing to be afraid of.”
“You think I’m concerned for myself?” Raven met his emerald gaze. The green was darker in the dim light, its depths fathomless.
“I’ve met Constantine before,” he said.
Raven looked back at the dying sky. The blood was seeping away, fading to black. The birth of the night. Dread pooled in her stomach. Constantine had made his feelings clear before tonight.
‘He’s a menace! Everything that comes out of his mouth is an insult or a critique. He doesn't know the first thing about putting someone before himself.
‘I don't approve, love.’
His hand squeezing her made Raven look back.
“We don't have to do this if you don't want to,” he said.
Raven was shaking her head before he finished his sentence. “No. You’ve wanted to do this since we left. Besides, your mom is a part of your life.”
If Raven canceled, she feared that would send the wrong message. Looking cowardly wasn't her concern. Raven would not come between Talia al Ghul and her only son.
The heavy double doors opened once more. Alfred cleared his throat, “Master Wayne, Miss Roth, it's time.”
They stood as the butler added, “Last chance to run for the hills if need be.”
“Is that what you recommend, Alfred?” Raven smiled.
“I certainly would if I were you, Miss Roth.”
“Not funny, Pennyworth.” The stark utter beside Raven made Alfred chuckle.
They climbed the steps together. Light from inside chased the remnants of the night away. A hand stretched out towards Raven as she hesitated at the door.
“Ready to meet my parents?” Damian said.
Raven’s fingers slipped back into his, where they belonged. “As long as you can take mine.”
“Please. Zatanna’s infatuated with me,” Damian rolled his eyes.
“And King Shark still thinks you taste delicious,” she added.
“I prefer to keep that kind of commentary between us and no one else.”
They passed Alfred at the door and slipped inside. Raven didn't miss how the butler’s eyebrows were raised to his hairline.
Everyone had a baffled look on their faces recently. Raven always assumed it was because of her and her weirdness. Nowadays, she couldn't tell who the stare was meant for.
Damian’s hand held hers as they walked. The old-fashioned oil lamps along the walls filled the great entrance hall with warmth. Damian’s skin shone like bronze in the golden glow. He walked without the slightest hesitation; he didn't fear whatever the evening held.
“Depending on how the evening goes, I’ll tell them to do a closed casket,” Dick Grayson’s voice traveled across the parlor.
Dick stood at the bottom of the elegant staircase. Raven’s eyes started to travel down to Dick’s arm in a sling — she forced herself to look away. She focused on Koriand’r instead, who towered over Dick and everyone else. Kory’s great mane of curls shimmered like hungry flames as she bounced on the balls of her feet.
“I’m so happy for you! Meeting the parents is quite a show of intimacy, I’ve heard,” said Kory, clasping her hands together. Her tone made it sound like a compliment.
“Yeah, got that right,” Dick muttered. He shot what almost seemed like a questioning look at Damian.
Raven glanced at her shoes. She knew it was sudden. It had only been a week since they had returned from Europe. They stayed at Wayne Manor ever since.
In terms of gossip, a scandal probably lurked around the corner. But it was Batman’s family. As famous as they were, Bruce Wayne liked privacy. He kept to himself.
Catwoman was a different story.
“I’m truly joyful that you both have this,” Kory beamed at Raven and Damian. Her glowing green eyes settled on Raven, “and I’m happy we have more ties to one another. That we’ll always be connected…”
If we’re not connected by the Titans, Raven finished her sentence silently. Raven still hadn't forgotten the conversation Kory and Zatanna had in her head about whether the Titans were a good fit for Raven. Or, rather, if Raven was a good fit for them .
“You’ll have to tell me how tonight goes at our next double date!” Kory said. “Maybe we’ll get fondue…? I’ve heard mini-golf is a popular pastime!”
Dick stifled a laugh as Damian’s face froze with horror, “That sounds like a great idea, babe.”
Alfred cleared his throat. “Miss Roth? Your death awaits — ahem , excuse me. I have a toad in my throat. Your dinner party awaits.”
Damian glared at the butler.
“Thank you, Alfred,” Raven said. She resisted the urge for her lips to curve up and failed.
They followed Alfred down a gothic-style corridor. The scent of expensive wood polish and old-fashioned oil lamps simmered in the air.
Alfred slowed his pace, lingering at Raven’s unoccupied side. His voice dropped to a murmur, “If, by some particular matter, you must leave early tonight due to unforeseen difficulties, I have arranged a rope outside the far right window of the room, for a quick departure.”
“Pennyworth!”
“All in jest, little master, all in jest,” Alfred raised a gloved hand to cover his mouth from Damian’s sight and mouthed the words, no it's not .
“You know I can teleport, right?” said Raven.
“Yes. And Mr. Wayne is Batman. And I punched Superman in the face. We all have our talents, Miss Roth. But it’s best to have backup plans.” Alfred faced forward after that, resuming his quick pace ahead.
Raven glanced at Damian. He frowned at the butler’s back.
“You pay him enough, right?” she asked.
“I have my own townhouse in Paris,” Alfred said.
Damian sighed.
They reached the double doors to their doom — the dining room (Alfred’s commentary was wearing off on her). The butler paused at the entrance, casting one last pointed look at Raven.
“Open the door, Pennyworth,” Damian said.
“What’s the magic word?”
“Azarath Metrion Zinthos.”
“That's three, little master. Not one.”
It took all of Raven’s willpower not to laugh on the spot. She squeezed Damian’s hand, feeling his deep urge to not obey Alfred.
So stubborn . Raven turned away from Alfred. She leaned up on her toes and whispered in Damian’s ear, “You know I’ll still find you attractive if you're nice to him.”
The deep force of opposition emitted from him wavered, but it was still intact.
“I could show you how attractive I think you are…later,” her lips brushed against the bottom of his earlobe, “if you behave.”
“Please,” Damian blurted the word.
Raven sank back onto her heels. When she faced Alfred, he was staring at her like he had just witnessed divine interference.
“You truly are magical, Miss Roth.”
“I know.”
Alfred bowed his head. “I hope you survive. You’d make an interesting addition to this family.”
He turned away and threw the double doors open wide.
Dining room was a modest description. Dining hall fit better. A long table was stretched beneath a massive map of Gotham on the high ceilings. Long enough to house all of the children Bruce Wayne had adopted.
Three were already seated at the table.
Raven let Damian lead as she took them in. Bruce and Selina Kyle sat side by side along the edge. Selina’s gaze trickled down Raven. It always lingered at the gem embedded to her forehead, which Raven tried to hide lately with bangs. Her eyes sliced across the rest of her, as if preparing quips critiquing her fashion choice and goth tendencies.
Raven’s eyes shifted to the head of the table, where an even more penetrating stare cut across the room.
“My son,” Talia al Ghul rose like the night seeping up to embrace the moon. She moved across the room swifter than a light breeze towards Damian.
Raven stood awkwardly to the side as Talia enveloped him in a warm embrace. She stared over his shoulder at Raven.
“Hi,” Raven said.
Talia parted from Damian and stood before her. Gorgeous didn't begin to do her justice. Models would’ve felt self-conscious in Talia’s wake, dressed in a green gown perfect for a red carpet appearance. Familiar bronze skin shone beneath the chandelier, completely scarless. The Lazarus Pit’s work, no doubt.
“So,” Talia’s eyes, a shade of green Raven knew well, seared into her. “You’re the demon girl.”

Tori and Richie's wedding from "The Magic Within"
Over the next few weeks, Richie and Tori were preparing for their wedding. Duncan and Flash helped out with the arrangements such as the music during the reception, the food, and the guests.
Within the month, it was time for the wedding.
Richie looked around as he appeared to be nervous. Duncan walked over to him, "I never imagined this day would happen at all, given that...you know."
"I remembered telling you I was interested in being the best man at your wedding to Tessa," Richie said, "and now, you are the best man at my wedding. I'm pleasantly surprised."
"I'm surprised too," Duncan smiled, "but I'm glad you are able to marry the woman you love."
"Me too."
"Speaking of surprises."
The two men turned to see Amanda arriving at the area with Anne in tow. She was holding her daughter, who appeared to be calm.
"Anne," Duncan asked, "what are you doing here?"
"I thought we agreed that we were to invite her?" Amanda declared.
"I'm only here for the ceremony," Anne said, "to see two good friends of mine get married, and besides, Mary here would probably get fussy if I were to be at the reception."
"It's good to see you again, Anne," Richie replied, shaking her hand.
"Thanks," Anne smiled, "and congratulations on your wedding."
"Thanks."
-The-Magic-Within-
Tori looked in the mirror, preparing to marry the love of her life. She had known Richie for about five years now, and she never thought in her wildest dreams that she'd be the one who would get married. She knew she could never have children because immortals couldn't have children, but regardless, she was looking forward to spending the rest of her immortal life with her soon to be husband.
"Tori?"
She turned around to see her mother.
"Hey, mom," Tori smiled and hugged her mother.
"I'm so proud of you," Janet smiled, "I...I never imagined we'd be here today. Richie is a great guy and he has come a long way from when I first met him."
"Yeah," Tori nodded, "he has. It's a miracle that Richie held his head high, even after Duncan's Dark Quickening ordeal."
"Thanks to you being by his side."
"I always had faith in him," Tori nodded.
"I know your aunt Dale told you about what I did all those years ago," Janet started to say.
"She never told me," Tori replied.
"Oh?"
"I found out on my own."
Janet sighed with relief, "I hope that you can give me a chance to be the best mother I can be."
"I'm willing to try," Tori smiled, "after all, you're about to be Richie's mother in law."
"Of course."
With that, Janet and Tori hugged.
-The-Magic-Within-
Zatanna turned in surprise to see Constantine standing at the corner of the room.
"John?" Zatanna glanced at him in surprise.
"Hello, Z," Constantine greeted his lover.
"What are you doing here?" Zatanna asked, "I thought you weren't coming."
"I wasn't going to," Constantine answered, "but I thought it'd be a bad idea to miss out on a good party here."
"Now you listen here, mister," Janet stomped down the area as she entered the room, "this is my daughter's big day, and I'm not about to have someone ruin it! If you so happen to act up during the reception, get drunk, or whatever, there will be hell to pay, got it?!"
Constantine raised his hands up, "Relax, lady. I won't be a problem."
Zatanna sighed. This woman must be Tori's mother, and she must be aware of Constantine's reputation. That figured.
-The-Magic-Within-
Richie arrived at the chapel with Duncan and the groomsmen Rick, LJ, Kshin, and Duke. He hadn't met Duke prior to the wedding, but agreed to have him the fourth groomsmen since Bruce volunteered him. Bruce and some of the Bat Family: Dick, Barbara, Tim, Cassandra Cain, Jason, and Stephanie were also present along with the Gordon Family, some of the IUA agents, including Jack and Cassandra, Constantine, Zatanna, Joe and Methos. It was a remarkable relief that Abby, Janet, Sara and the Defenders had managed to work out their work schedules to make it to this wedding.
He walked over to the altar as Duncan and the groomsmen walked to their position as he waited for Tori to appear. Moments later, Tori arrived with her hair nicely done, wearing a beautiful white wedding gown with her face covered in a thick white veil as Flash was giving her away. Amanda and the bridesmaids: April, Jedda, Amy, and Sara all accompanied them to the altar. They walked down the aisle together before Flash escorted Tori to the altar as she stood in front of Richie.
Richie had his breath taken away at the sight of his soon to be wife and spoke to her in a voice to where only she could hear, "You look beautiful."
Tori nodded and smiled as she blushed.
"We are gathered here today to join Richard Ryan and Victoria Gordon in wedded bliss," the minster announced before he faced Richie, "Richard, do you take Victoria to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in Holy Matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor her, and keep her in sickness and health, forsaking others, keeping yourself only onto her for as long as you shall live?"
"I do," Richie answered, "with all my heart and soul."
The minster then looked over at Tori, "Victoria, do you take Richard to be your lawfully wedded husband to live together in Holy Matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor him, and keep him in sickness and health, forsaking others and keeping yourself only onto him for as long as you shall live?"
"I do," Tori answered, "with all my heart and soul."
The minster then informed the group, "At this time, the couple will read out the vows they have prepared."
Richie said his vows first, "Tori, I had no idea I needed someone as wonderful, smart, and beautiful as you. You were good to me ever since we first met, and you were the only one who stuck with me, no matter how bad things got. You are my rock, and you saw a side of me I never thought I was capable of showing. You have always been there for me through the good times and the bad times. I vow to be the best husband I can be, and support and protect you till death do we part. I promise this in front of our loved ones present here today."
Tori then said her vows, "Richie, you have a wonderful personality, and a great sense of humor. I never thought I was capable of love, let alone someone like you until I let you in my life, and the night we first met was the night where our lives had changed for the better. You are a gentlemen and a wonderful soul. While you are stubborn at times, I always had faith in you, and I still do. I love you, Richie Ryan, and I vow to be the best wife I can be, and to support and protect you till death do we part. I promise this in front of our loved ones present here today."
"By the power invested in me," the minster declared, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Methos handed the rings to the minster before Richie placed a ring on her right finger, and Tori did the same to him. Then, Richie lifted the veil and saw Tori's face for the first time as his wife and they shared a kiss on the lips.
As the couple left the chapel, Tori tossed her bouquet of flowers. The bridesmaids and Amanda tried reaching for it, but Jedda ended up catching the bouquet.
-The-Magic-Within-
Tori found herself on cloud nine after the documents were signed and notarized. She went with Richie toward the small hall that had been prepared for this event. Once the couple had arrived, Mandrake stood up and made the announcement everyone had been waiting for, "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Mister and Mrs. Richard Ryan!"
Applause broke out in the room. With that, the song the couple had chosen for their first dance had started. It was from the movie Dirty Dancing and the song was "Time of My Life", and the couple shared the first dance together.
After the song ended, the refreshments were served to everyone. They got an excellent service to provide them with a great catering service and everyone enjoyed the food and drink, including alcohol. Zatanna managed to keep an eye out on Constantine to keep him from getting too drunk.
Eventually, the dancing resumed, starting with the Zombie's "Time of the Season" per Amanda's suggestion, both Flash and Joe were able to give Tori a father – daughter dance, upon Flash and Tori's suggestion as Flash had raised her for years along with her aunt Dale, and Joe had also been like a father to Tori. Flash and Tori's dance was to a song of Flash's liking while Tori's dance with Joe was a bluesy song that was to Joe's liking. There were some fast songs to dance to as well.

Excuse Me, Barmaid, I’m Afraid You Brought Me the Wrong Hero
EDIT: MASTERLIST
***
Okay, so... Mayyyyybe Dash should have thought this through. And, Dash would like people to know that he was doing all this out of the goodness of his heart. Phantom was becoming... Tired. Everyone could see it. Even the wacky Fenton parents noticed it, doubling their efforts to catch the only ghost that could defend their home.
And, well, when you find an old book from your grandma's that tells you how to summon heroes, who wouldn't take that chance to help their local hero? At least, until Phantom gets better.
So, yeah. Dash wanted a hero who wouldn't get overshadowed. He wanted a hero who had the might of the gods. He wanted a hero who could also be just a regular person, able to blend in with the crowd.
"Hey, do you have any more food?"
Dash wanted to bash his own head against the wall. Because he didn't summon a hero. He summoned a scrawny, 12-years-old kid who looks like he was randomly picked up from the streets!
His mom cooed at the child.
"Yes, you're welcome to have more, sweetheart."
"Thank you, Mrs. Baxton!"
Yeah, this kid certainly isn't a hero if he's easily stealing all of his mom's love and affection like that.
His mom pinched his cheeks, commenting how polite the child is, before getting started with the dishes.
****
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂
I LOVE summoning fics and ideas!!! 💙 And because I love them, I wanted to change things around a bit! What if it's the local Amity Parker that ends up summoning heroes from another world/universe? (or they could be in the same universe if you'd like!) HERO SUMMONING!
- Dash ended up summoning Billy Batson, who could pass as Danny's little brother if the Fentons were willing to take him in.
- But the kid, for some reason, doesn't hate him for summoning him and wants to stay with Dash.
- Dash's parents are even considering adopting the kid! As if Dash brought the kid into their home out of the goodness of his heart. (Technically, he did. 😂)
- "Oh, Dash, sweetie. This reminds me of the time you said you wanted a little brother because you found out that little Danny was actually the same age as you!"
- "Mooooom! You promised not to talk about that!"
- "Correction: your dad promised. And I will abuse my power to tease you endlessly!"
- At first, Billy did this to annoy Dash. He knows a bully when he sees one. He also wanted to see how far he could go in annoying Dash before he gets kicked out by him. But as time with the Baxters’ goes by, Billy finds that he's become very fond of this summoner who's slowly becoming like his big brother. Being annoying didn’t feel like a ‘how far could i get away with this’ but has now turned into small teasing between siblings, it was... kinda great...
- But, when Billy encounters his first ghost attack, he suddenly knew exactly why he was summoned. It could have been Superman, or Batman, or Zatanna, or even Wonder Woman! But being the Champion of Magic gave him access to the Infinite Realms, not enough to traverse it, but to at least receive contact from it.
- And so, with a loud SHAZAM! he turns into Captain Marvel and fights alongside the upcoming King to the Ghost Realm.
- Dash... He just witnessed the most insane de-transformation of his life. When lightning struck near his home, he got worried about his parents and, dare he say it, his new little brother. (Dash saw the adoption papers. But also, the kid was growing on him. He gradually stopped being a bully when Billy thought of how cool Dash was, like he was a white Victor Stone or whatever. It made him want to be better, especially when those eyes were genuinely impressed with him. It made it all the better when Danny was weirded out by his character development.)
- But when he saw the newest Hero, Captain Marvel, the very example of what a hero should look like, should act like, and should be like, transform back into his little brother, so many questions started filling Dash's head. Was Billy actually an adult? Or was Captain Marvel really just a child?
- Dash really did summon a hero.
- Dash confronts Billy, because there was no way Dash would be able to pretend he didn't see anything.
- The more Billy talked, though, the more Dash felt... panic rising in his chest. He summoned a hero, yeah, but the hero is an ACTUAL KID who TRANSFORMS INTO AN ADULT.
- That's not what makes him panic, though. What does is that he became so attached to this scrawny kid who keeps raiding his secret sweets stash, who keeps stealing his parents' affection, who Dash has to visit his room at night because he seems to be the only one who can quell the kid's nightmares.
- The newest hero is his kid brother. His annoying little brother. His newest precious little brother who laughs and smiles at him, and calls him the coolest when he manages to throw the football so many meters away.
- It's not about Phantom anymore. Dash needs to be there for his brother.
- He comes to a realizatiom that maybe, maybe, all this time Phantom didn't need another hero to help him. Maybe, all he needed was people who cared to just back him up and give him support. Give him encouragement that he was doing great. That what he was doing was appreciated.
- Because Billy seemed to get better and better when he was told how good he was being in this hero gig. How relaxed and relieved he was when he realized that Dash wasn't going to leave him alone in helping Phantom.
- So, Dash also tells Phantom what he said to Billy, that he has Phantom's back. Phantom didn't seem convinced, most of all Manson and Foley. But Phantom takes it, especially when Dash was being genuine about it.
***
- And then there's Wes. Nosy and annoying, and bordering on stalkerish. Maybe he might be right about Phantom being Danny Fenton, but he really needs to leave his little brother alone. Dash won't hesitate falling back to old habits if he won't stop.
- "Why are you so calm about all this, Billy?"
- "Oh, well, Batman was more of a stalker than Wes is. Oracle and Red Robin, Batman's hero partners, are actually scarier because they thrive in this. The way he's going about it is actually pretty cute, in comparison."
- Cute? "We need to do something about how desensitized you are about this."

"There is only one bed" "Exes forced to work together" and "Accidentally cuddling in sleep" with homeboy Dickie please <3
There were certain members of the Titans who said Dick’s superpower was being friends with his exes. Not very many of them had ill feelings for him after breakup despite everything that happened in their relationship. You tried to be like them. Kori could laugh at his jokes while he dated Barbara. Zatanna would often give him an open mouth kiss when she saw him and yet had no interest in dating him again.
But you weren’t like that. You didn’t know how to act around him. Possibly because you didn’t exactly break up normally, or at all. He just disappeared. It had been for a mission but still. He could have called or talked to you afterwards. That’s why you were mad. It was inconsiderate, you thought as you ignored the tiny voice that told you that you couldn’t be normal around him because you still liked him.
And currently you were dying because you had teamed up with Dick on a mission. Both of your skill sets matched for the mission’s needs and so this is how you ended up at the front counter of a Swiss hotel high in the mountain trying to get 2 hotel rooms instead of one. Or even just another bed.
“Madame, I apologize but there is no other room at this hotel. We are very sorry for the mix up but this is all we have. The nearest hotel is 30 kilometers north so I have very little I can do. Again, I apologize,” said the man. “It is the busy season.”
You sighed. “That’s fine. I’m tired. It’ll be fine,” you said grabbing the keys a little rougher than necessary. Dick looked at the man apologetically before following you.
The hotel was actually really nice. Very traditional with red ornamental patterned rugs and golden brown beaded board halfway up the wall. A gold chandelier hung in the front entry. A bellboy carried your bags up to the room and let you in.
The room was just as nice but tiny. Barely had enough room for the bed and a small table with 2 chairs and a tv stand. A little closet sat behind door and the tiny window with covered in thick curtains.
You tossed your bag in the closet without a care and pulled off your shoes. You groaned and stretched your toes before flopping on the bed.
“I’ll sleep on the floor,” Dick said grabbing a pillow.
“No just get in bed. There isn’t enough floor to sleep on. It’ll kill your back to sleep weird,” you said with a yawn. Dick stood awkwardly. You hadn’t thought about it but you were probably his only awkward ex and he didn’t know what to do about it.
“You sure? I don’t wanna be in your space,” Dick said tentatively laying down the pillow. You patted the mattress.
“You could sleep in the room beside me and I think you’d still be in my face with how tiny these rooms are,” you said and he chuckled.
“Yeah, this hotel is probably like 500 years old or something,” he said laying down. He was on his edge of the bed and you on yours. “Did I ever tell you that we toured out here when I was a kid in the circus?”
You turned to look at him. “No you haven’t. What was it like?”
“It was cold but fun. My mom got mad when I tried to do flips barefoot in the snow,” he said with a laugh. “I was probably 6. She thought I was going to get deathly sick from the cold.”
“That sounds exactly like something a mom would say,” you said with a smile.
“I also remember one of the sword swallowers tried to learn the language to speak to all the pretty women that came to the shows but he learned Swedish instead,” Dick said and you both laughed.
“I bet that didn’t go well.”
“He got lucky and the first woman he talked to spoke Swedish! It was pretty funny,” Dick said with a yawn. “We should probably get some sleep.”
“Yeah,” you said and the pillow felt like heaven. Your eyelids felt heavy and before you knew it, you were asleep. Hours later you woke to light hitting your eyes through the curtains so you snuggled closer to get it out of your eyes. Arms that wrapped around you tightened a little and you felt a humming noise that threatened to put you back to sleep.
Hot breath against your cheek made you move again. This time you woke up to take in your surroundings. A collarbone. Arms around your back. Legs tangled in your own. You hadn’t taken anyone home last night. Who was that? You blinked before realizing that you were in Dick’s arms.
You pulled back a little and he whined in his sleep and held you tighter. His touch was warm and comforting and you almost wanted to be lulled back to sleep with him. But Dick wasn’t your boyfriend and you needed to move. You shifted again and he opened his eyes to look at you in surprise.
“Oh,” he said. You both froze. “Sorry,” Dick muttered before moving his hands away slowly. His didn’t scoot away from you.
You looked at him and the way he looked at you stopped you from moving. It was raw and unfiltered in the mornin light and he clearly wasn’t over you. He looked down at your lips before looking back at your eyes.
“Morning,” you said softly. You looked down as he licked his lips. They looked soft and shiny. You slid your hand to his arm. Almost painfully slow, Dick scooted closer to where your lips were almost touching. You inhaled a little faster than normal.
“Can I,” he said already hold his head slightly turned. You leaned up to meet his lips. Dick’s hands went back around to grip your waist. The kiss started out tentative but didn’t take long to deepen. He tasted the same as you remember and his touch was familiar and comforting.
After a little bit of you both laying on your sides, Dick laid back and pulled you on top of him. You straddled his hips and kissed him hard. Dick made a moan against your lips and gripped your thighs. You rubbed down against him. You could feel him grow hard in his thin sleep pants. Dick pulled back to breathe.
“Fuck baby,” he panted. You huffed out a laugh. “What?” He asked and you grinned.
“Still has the same weaknesses, I see,” you whispered and he chuckled before shrugging. You ground down on him and he inhaled quickly.
“Yeah but so do you,” he said before flipping you over and pinning your hands above your head. You gasped into a moan as he nipped at the spot behind your ear. Dick smirked against your skin. “Yep the same spot.”
“Hmmm using it against me,” you asked and he nodded.
“Always take advantage of weaknesses. That how I was taught,” Dick said. He bent and sucked hard on the spot and you pulled at his hands, wanting to put your hands in his hair. Dick kissed down your neck to your collar and nipped at your collarbone. You made a keening sound.
“Not fair Grayson, not fair,” you said breathlessly and he chuckled.
“I could always stop,” Dick said, his breath was hot on your skin. You groaned and he chuckled. Dick slid his hands under your shirt and pulled back to slide it off. His fingers traced a new scar that you had gotten since the last time you had been together.
“Two Face,” you commented and he nodded before kissing the arcing curvature of lighter skin. You pulled at his shirt and he pulled it off too. He had some more scars too. A pair of red healing marks on his forearm that looked like claws you touched with your thumb.
“Killer Croc,” he said before kissing the valley between your breasts. You hummed in agreement before realizing what he said.
“Killer Croc? You got very lucky,” you said and he pulled back a little.
“Yeah. I mean, it got mad infected and I was out for 2 weeks but yeah, he could have ripped my arm off,” Dick said. He ran his hand along the waistband of your sleep shorts. You inhaled quickly.
“You’re too casual for a man that almost died,” you said.
“Yeah, I know,” Dick answered sliding his hand in your shorts to play in your folds. Your eyes closed and you forgot all about scars and Killer Croc as he fingered you.
“Condoms?” You gasped. He grinned as he kissed along the column of your neck.
“One minute,” Dick said getting up. You watched him move around the room. His boner extremely obvious in his sleep pants. He came back with a few attached together.
“3?”
“Let’s start with one and go from there,” he smirked and you laughed. That was Dick for you. Cheeky no matter what. He pushed down his pants and rolled it on as you slid out of your panties and shorts. Dick stared down at your wet pussy. He already knew from fingering you but he certainly wasn’t complaining about the sight.
Dick climbed back over you and kissed you soundly. “Ready?” He asked and you nodded. Dick slowly thrust in and you made a soft sound. He started moving and found a good pace. It was great for missionary but it wasn’t like either of you didn’t have the ability to be a little more flexible in positions.
“I want to try something,” you whispered in his ear and he looked at you with a twinkle in his eyes.
“Go on,” Dick said excitedly. You pushed him off of you and he eagerly complied. You stood up and bent at the waist and wrapped your arms around the back of your knees with your legs closed giving Dick one hell of a show.
“Oh fuck,” he whispered. Dick moved behind you. “Like this?” He asked and you nodded. Dick slowly slid in with his hands on your hips making all kinds of little noises. “You look fucking amazing baby. Truly.”
You let Dick move for a while in this position. He alternated between holding your hips and grabbing your ass to slightly spread it to watch better. It was possible he’d never been that horny in his life. It felt amazing on your part but there was something you wanted to try without telling him.
You slowly moved your hands to the floor and put your weight on one leg. And with a smirk, you lifted one leg up and Dick inhaled deeply as you lifted it up to his shoulder. He held your leg and moaned loudly. His hips stopped and he was panting.
“Fuck, you almost made me cum right then,” he groaned. His hips started moving and all of took was a little shake of your ass for him to cum despite himself. “Fuck,” he groaned while burying himself deep. As soon as he was done, he pulled out and helped you stand up. You noted a little dusting of pink in his cheeks and ears.
“I’ll get you back. Lay down,” he said and you nodded and laid on the bed. It was no time at all that he had his lips wrapped around your clit and fingers in your core as your grabbed his hair in pleasure.
“Fuck! Dick! Fuck!” You cried, completely ignoring the fact that it was 7 am and you were in a hotel. He seemed to be hell bent on making up for the fact that he came first. Your thighs shook and you weren’t even sure but you probably screamed when you came. Dick peppered kisses up your body with a smirk as you heaved in breaths.
“Like that,” he said wryly, pulling you into his arms.
“You already know that,” you answered. He ran a finger along your arm and kissed your hair.
“So this...” he started but trailed off.
“Yeah...”
“Do you wanna... try again? Us?” He asked.
“Maybe,” you said biting your lip.
“Give it a shot?” He asked hopeful. You sat in silence for a second.
“Yeah. Yeah.”
“Yeah?” He said with a smile.
“Yeah,” you answered shyly. He grinned and kissed you again. He rolled on top of you.
“Since I fucked up the first round, I should make it up to you,” he said playfully. You rolled your eyes with a smile.
“If. You. Can,” you whispered in his ear. By the end of the morning, the hotel security had come to knock on your door to quiet down.

jayrae as a married couple with kids ? yk living their type of normal as a request
Hello,
How about hunting for a babysitter?
Death or the Devil?
“Bruce is not babysitting her, just no, Zatanna interfered, and no, Jay,” she shook her head.
“We didn’t know she could do magic like that,” Jason reasoned as they both went through the list of family members to babysit for their date night. No way they could hire some poor, unsuspecting babysitter to babysit their child. They’d seen the Incredibles Jack-Jack adventures which had pretty much summed up their child.
“I know, but Zataras are… untrustworthy, and your family trusts them too much,” she explained.
“What about Dick? He raised Mar'i,” Jason pointed out.
“And he hasn’t passed a sobriety test in three months,” she countered.
“Fuck, why’d he have to fall off the wagon,” Jason groaned as he rubbed his brow.
“What about Mazekeen?”
“Your step-grandmother’s affinity for weapons…”
“Tinuviel is part demon,” Raven reasoned.
“And part archangel, celestial, Endless, witch, mortal, god… Jesus… Rae…” he groaned as he listed off her heritage.
“She is not related to Jesus!” Raven strangled out.
“God is your great-grandfather,” Jason countered.
“So? We are not trusting God to babysit Tinuviel,” Raven muttered. “And Maze can babysit when Tinuviel can actually hold a weapon and not hurt herself. What about Luci?”
“You want Lucifer, the devil to babysit her?” Jason reasoned.
“He’d give her too many ponies…” she muttered as they both looked at their daughter.
“What about Alfred?”
“He’s got the night with his daughter Julia, otherwise, I’d say yes. What about Constantine?”
“I don’t think that’s wise,” he grimaced. “She might have her first drag in his custody, and I’d really like for my daughter not to have my bad habits.”
“Harley and Ivy could babysit?” Raven offered.
“Harley had our daughter help her rob a bank last time.”
“Shit.”
“What about Tim?”
“Zataras!” she quipped. “Or Fate. Dr. Fate does like Tim, so that would be so much worse…”
“Fuck.”
“Victor?”
“Remember when Tiny accidently summoned Darkseid in challenge?”
“Oh right, Vic did say he’d BOOMTube Apokolips to Hell if that happened again, but I don’t think it’d be a bad thing?” she reasoned.
“New Genesis threatened war if he did that,” Jason sighed.
“Why would they care? They’re always at war with Apokolips,” she muttered sourly. “What about Dream or Destiny?”
“No! You uncles would never return her if they got a hold of her, and then they’d pull the, she’s an Endless crap and we’d have to fight the Endless to get her back.”
“Dream is unusually fond of her,” Raven muttered in agreement.
“What about Roy? He raised Lian, and is sober,” Jason pointed out.
“He’s on mission with the Arrows, remember.”
“Artemis?”
“She’d take Tiny to Themyscira and then we’ll never get her back,” Raven sighed. “Also, Donna and Diana think she need training.”
“She’s a year old!”
“I know. What about Death.”
“I want you to think about what you just said, little bird.” Jason waited and then his wife groaned as her head fell forward.
“I really suggested that?” she grimaced.
“Death is lovely, and I like your grandmother, but I don’t think we should entrust our daughter to her just yet, or ever, you know, implications and all.”
“Why is it so hard to just find a babysitter?” Raven demanded.
“Duke?”
“Midterms,” she countered.
“Kents?”
“Again, Zataras.”
“Fuck the Zataras, fucking goodie-two shoe, problematic assholes,” he grumbled.
“So just to clarify, we can’t leave Tiny with my dad, my brothers, Kents because of Zataras, we can’t leave her with Arty because of the Amazons, we can’t leave her with your moms because she’ll be an alibi, we can’t leave her with Roy because he’s busy with the Arrows right now, can’t leave her with my grandfather because he’s having a night with his daughter, we can’t leave her with your grandfather because he’s the Devil, can’t leave her with your grandmother or her brothers because we’d have to break reality to get her back, can’t leave her with your brother because he threatened to have intergalactic war break out because of the lengths he’d go to defend her, can’t even leave her unsupervised because everyone wants to kidnap her, so what are we supposed to do?”
“Luci is looking like our best option,” she sighed sourly.
“I like Luci, but we’ll have to barter him not creating a universe for her,” Jason sighed.
“Well, the only unasked guardian is my great-grandfather and he is a big fat NO,” Raven muttered.
“What about Arella’s family?”
“Alice?”
“She’s raising a set of Charmed Ones,” he pointed out.
“Charmed Ones are not Tiny,” she countered. “Also, I think if anything it’d be more of a beacon for people to come after them.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Jesse, Jared, Jacob, Jack, James, and Jude are on the loose, and demons always like to challenge people for power, Tiny is very powerful, and that is the challenge.”
“So… Maze and Luci are the best options for us to have a date night?”
“How is it the Devil and his Consort are the best options!?”
“It’s them or Death.”
“I’ll call Luci,” she sighed. “I’ll have to get his word not to give her a universe.”
“You are a very difficult child for being an easy-going baby,” Jason informed his daughter who was sucking on her elephant pacifier. She blinked her big blue-green eyes at him and he smiled softly as he ran his hand over her black curls. Tinuviel was a very easy, quiet baby, she just liked being held, and she had a surplus of family always wanting to hold her, between his family and Raven’s family, it was nearly impossible for her to put down. But a year of antics from outside forces trying to snatch her or steal her, it was enough to have them wary about who they left her with. They were always careful, but goddamn it, they needed a date night.
“I was summoned, now I want to see my favorite great-grandchild! Have a lovely date night, I want another great-grandchild, call sometime tomorrow or the day after,” Luci appeared and smiled as he snatched up Tiny and disappeared.
Jason was left sitting there bewildered.
Raven stood there equally bewildered as they looked at one another.

The Tragic Story Of Sindella: Zatanna’s Mom
These days Zatanna’s dad gets more focus than her mom. But back in the late 70′s to the early 90′s, Zatanna’s mother was just as important as her Dad.
I already recapped some of Sindella’s story arcs in this series of posts but I thought it would be best to compile and summarized all of Sindella’s appearances into one single dedicated post.
Tumblr media
Sindella was created by writer Gerry Conway and artists Dick Dillin and Frank McLaughlin. Arguably, the story of Sindella began in the same issue that Zatanna joined the JL, although we wouldn’t realize it at first, when Zatanna appeared in the satellite wearing a new costume:

The issue after she joined , Zatanna experiences a psychic backlash and she realizes that part of her mind has been wiped and that she has no memory of how she got her new costume. Her, Ralph and Red Tornado begin to investigate, they follow the trail to the Zatara’s ancestral home in upstate NY where they are attacked.
During that time we see Ralph being a mentor to her:

The trio manage to stop the attack and it turns out that the person who attacked them and also mind wiped Zatanna was her own father; John Zatara!
Neither the League nor Zatanna are pleased by Zatara’s actions.
Tumblr media
Source: JLA #163
Zatanna’s so upset with her father that she puts a spell on him to make sure he’s telling the truth.
As he explains, he and Zatanna were performing at a show one night when suddenly Zatanna transformed into a costume similar to her mothers.
Tumblr media
Source: JLA #163
Zatara believed that Sindella died in a car accident and that Zatanna’s sudden transformation was her ghost coming back to haunt her. It is revealed that if the ghost of a loved one who died traumatically can return in darker, twisted form. It’s a cool idea that I don’t think has been used anywhere else in the DCU.
Hence why he mind wiped Zatanna and tried to exorcise the ‘ghost’ from their house but something went wrong and he ended up trapped in a dimensional whirlpool until Zatanna freed him.
Tumblr media

After making up both Zatanna and Zatara attempt to contact Sindella but something goes wrong. With the help of the League, Zatanna and Giovanni soon realize that Sindella may in fact be alive and that leads us to the story of how the two met in #164:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

After beating a villain named Anton Allegro and gaining his magic powered Synthesizer which can pierce dimensional barriers, the Zataras and the League make their way to Northern Turkey where they use the magical synthezier to break through magical barriers and discover a hidden city:
Tumblr media

......where the finally  meet Sindella and a few other characters:
Tumblr media
Source: JLA #164
The League takes on the Hidden Ones but even for them fighting against an entire city of magic users is too much:
Tumblr media
Source: JLA #165
After they’re defeated, the League is imprisoned separately from the Zataras. Zatanna finally gets a few moments with her mother:
Tumblr media
Zatanna casts a spell to break her mother out of her catatonic state and we finally learn why she was imprisoned:
Tumblr media
Even though Giovanni was a great Dad, not having a mother in her life seem to have affected Zatanna on a deeper level.
We also learn that:
-The Homo Magi gene are an off shoot of the human race who genetically developed the ability to do magic. While humans were figuring out fire, the Magi were able to advance far beyond humanity thanks to their power.
-However, there was a catch; the Magi were fewer in number and they discovered that if they breed with humans the resulting offspring has less magical power and subsequent breeding with humans will cause that power to diminish over multiple generations. Hence why the Magi isolated themselves for millennia and refused to intermingle with humans.
Which brings us to Sindella who was born with the Medulla Jewel and doomed to be a glorified battery for her people until she met John Zatara.
-There is also some weird stuff like humans and Homo Magi having a fatal attraction to each other that would cause the Magi to hopelessly fall in love with a human.
Anyway, the League escapes their prison, a fight breaks out between the JL and the Homo Magi. Meanwhile, Sindella is terrified that her daughter might encounter the same fate as her. Until finally:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I admit the story isn’t perfect. I wasn’t a fan of humans and Homo Magi having a fatal attraction towards each other and the reveal that the League were fighting illusions all along. Those parts were anti climatic.
However, I love the idea of John Zatara and Sindella having a forbidden relationship. I would love to see Sindella’s story explored more; imagine being born to know that your destiny is to be a glorified battery for your people, to escape, find love and even have a child only to be kidnapped and imprisoned for years, to briefly reunite with your daughter who came to rescue you only to sacrifice yourself to save her.     There is remarkable potential here, it’s sad that the story is forgotten and have never been revisited.
There is also the interesting dichotomy in that Sindella saw her power as a curse but for Giovanni it was gift that he used to entertain and bring joy to others.   It’s easy to see why she might have fallen for him.
As mentioned above, the ‘Hidden City’ is said to be located in the Northern parts of Turkey. I did some digging to see if there were any Turkish folklore or myth that might have inspired the story but I couldn’t find anything. Then again I’m not Turkish so there is a 99% chance that I missed something. So I can’t say whether the writer Gerry Conway chose the location because of something specific that interested him or if he chose it randomly because it was basically somewhere far, far away.
In JLA #166 we witness Sindella’s funeral and the Trinity reflecting on the events:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is one of the rare stories in which the League lost a battle. It’s a wonder why this story hasn’t been revisited and updated.
Sindella would continue to be mentioned even after her death and even made a few appearances afterwards.
Her creator, Gerry Conway, always gave both John Zatara and Sindella equal billing whenever he had to recount Zatannas backstory:
Tumblr media
Source: JLA #200
Zatanna herself continued to wear her mother’s costume, likely as a tribute to her until one day she decided to switch to something else:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
JLA #187
Sindella would make a return appearance in the 64 page Zatanna Special (1987)  in which her ghost attempted to contact Zatanna to tell her something:
Tumblr media
This prompted Zatanna to return to the Hidden City, meeting them for real this time where she finds out that they’re all dying of a magical disease and only Zatanna can save them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wish the the Special had dug deeper into Zatanna’s internal conflict. After all these are the same people that kidnapped and imprisoned her mother.  It could have been interesting to see Zatanna  initially reluctant to help but then realizing that the people, children, women and adults shouldn’t be blamed for the decision of a zealot High Priest and deciding to save them.
The High Priest himself is portrayed as good guy or at least not an antagonist and he shows Zatanna the next step of her journey: finding the true source of magic:
During her journey to uncover the ‘true source’ of magic, Zatanna comes face to face with her arch enemy Allura and is left for dead by the latter.  Then:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inspired by her mothers advice,  Zatanna manages to find the strength to escape her trap, overcome the manifestation of  despire and realizes that the true source of magic is life itself:
Tumblr media
And because Zatanna’s parents can never actually stay dead, Sindella returns again in the 1993 4 part mini series ‘Zatanna: Come Together’ to warn Zatanna about a threat lurking beneath San Francisco.
Tumblr media
Zatanna: Come Together #2
In a way, it’s a spiritual successor to the 87 Special but also it’s own thing.
The mini finds abandoning her fathers backwards magic to embrace her mother’s  Atlantean magic which involves shooting magic eye beams, wearing a necklace and a staff.
Tumblr media
Source: Zatanna Come Together #2
This was meant to be a revamp of the character but it never stuck and Zatanna quietly went back to wearing her stage magician outfit..
In #4, Zatanna gets to have a longer conversation with Sindella:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: Zatanna Come Together #4
If you’re wondering why Sindella is suddenly Atlantean thats because the 1985 Secret Origins which retells DCU history after COIE altered history revealed that the Hidden Ones were a diaspora of Atlanteans who settled in Northern Turkey after Atlantis sank.
There were also a character named Arion whose series delved into the sinking of Atlantis and also established the Lords of Order and Chaos.
As for Sindella she would begin to lose prominence and fade away in the mid to late 90′s and 00′s to the point of being overshadowed by John Zatara.
DC would continue to use ‘Homo Magi’ to refer to their magical characters but rarely acknowledge how it’s connected to the Zataras and Sindella. IMO it should be treated like the Flashes and Speed Force.
Sindella made a one panel cameo appearance in a dream sequence in Dini’s Zatanna series from 2010 thus implying that her stories are still canon:
Tumblr media
Source: Zatanna #02
She also appeared briefly in the Black Canary/Zatanna: Bloodspell OGN also by Dini along with the Hidden Ones (who are not depicted as antagonistic):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dini focused primarily on John Zatara and while him raising Zatanna is an important facet of her character, I’ve found that Dini and most writers are often too reliant on the father-daughter relationship for their stories.
Post Nu52 which erased and revamped DCU history, Sindella went unmentioned for a long time, she appeared very briefly in this sequence where Zatanna time travelled to the past to meet her father in JLD Vol 1 #35:
Tumblr media
Sadly, it seems like the writers either didn’t do their research or didn’t care for the characters history as Sindella is not blonde and she appears to be a normal human mom taking care of Zatanna.
Sindella appeared very briefly in DC Superhero Girls in which we learn that she walked out on Zatanna when she was young
and on her birthday
:
Tumblr media
Which left Zatanna with issues on her subsequent birthdays.
She got a much better showing in Zatanna & The House of Secrets in which she helps Zatanna whose chasing Klarion in the House of Secrets:
Tumblr media
Then more recently she appeared in YJ S4 but once again with dark hair and as a normal human woman who died of cancer:
Tumblr media
Even though the story arc was about exploring the history of magic and Homo Magi, none of it is connected to Sindella nor is there any mention of the HIdden Ones  Even Arion and Nabu gets the rug pulled from underneath their feet as they are all basically pawns in Vandal Savage’s scheme.
I know the shows is all about doing it’s own thing but I think it’s fair to be disappointed that they didn’t find some way to do Sindella’s character justice.

Supernova (Chapter 7)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Dick Grayson as Robin x Reader
Warnings: None! Lmao finally
Word Count: 3.9K
Summary: As the daughter of Wonder Woman, you always knew you were destined for something more than the life of a mortal. It seemed like your wish for a life of adventure came true but whether in the form of a blessing or curse, you didn’t know. All you know is that you were the sole witness for a chain of murders that would begin. It’s up to you to find out who was the murderer before it’s too late……
A/N: It's a sweet chapter ya'll. I promise.
Supernova Masterlist
“You’re sweaty.” Robin murmured when you rested your forehead against the nape of his neck. You both were exhausted after training and you were a shower away from passing out in your bed but you both still needed a few minutes to catch your breath, leaning on each other for support. Even though he was complaining about you sweating, he didn’t seem to do anything to get away from you, even going so far as to wrap an arm around your shoulder.
You felt him swallowing the gulps of water against your skin before scoffing and wiping your skin with a towel, “As if you’re any better, my eyes are stinging from your sweat.”
Then you both dissolved back to silence, quietly enjoying each other’s company as the night slowly bled into day.
“Do you ever wonder what smoking feels like?” You asked and Robin laughed, making you whine when he began shaking, moving your body in tandem with his because of it. Even though you pinched his side to get him to stop laughing, it was useless since it made him laugh even harder, slugging you off his shoulder as your back hit the training mat.
“It wasn’t even that funny.”
“It was random."
“I was just thinking about it. I can hardly breathe when someone else is smoking beside me. I wonder how it feels actually inhaling the stuff.” You wondered, now getting comfortable on your back and he lay down beside you, “I guess some people enjoy it.”
It was silent again and you yawned, waiting for your body to cool off. The unfortunate thing about living at Happy Harbor was that the weather was unusually hot during the summer, so hot that even the water ended up getting to a scorching temperature. If you went for a shower straight after training, you’d be slowly boiled to perfection.
But the more you waited, the sleepier you got.
Robin spared you a glance as you yawned once again, stifling his own. The training had been taking a toll on him, since he would come to the cave right after patrol instead of sleep at the Manor. Partly because he liked seeing you improve in combat and get better each day and partly because he just liked seeing you.
If he caught you on a good day, you were fun to be around, cheerful and funny. Your energies mixed together well, fitting together like two puzzle pieces but he never lingered on that thought for long. For now, Robin just wanted to be supportive and a good friend. He’d seen firsthand how much you could change when things hurt you and he never wanted to push you towards that again.
His mind drifted back to the day in the interrogation room, the way you didn’t have any remorse for Thelma when she cried and screamed in front of you. It was so unlike you and for a few brief moments he wondered if he ever knew you at all.
He looked at you again, noticing the way you were smiling at nothing, the sheen of sweat on your face and neck before rethinking. He knew you; he was sure of that. And he liked you for it too.
“What are you thinking about?”
“Just that prom is next week at school. Before Valerie I would’ve pleaded to go but I don’t think I’d want to return to school after this.” You said thoughtfully, suddenly thinking about what you would do if you made out of all this alive.
“Maybe you should transfer to my school.” He said absentmindedly. It wasn’t really a suggestion that he thought you’d accept but he actually liked the thought of you going to his school.
You sent him a teasing smile, “Oh? Boy Wonder actually goes to school? Not some advanced intelligence nerd program?”
He laughed at this, “You’re one to talk.”
It was silent for the next couple moments once again while you both rested comfortably. This was the thing he appreciated the most about your relationship; when it was silent, he wasn’t scrambling to find some conversation piece to fill the silence. He wasn’t unaccustomed to awkward silence but it never felt awkward when he was with you. It was just silence.
He could stay beside you and just stay silent and that was enough. He liked that.
“What color are your eyes?” You asked again, curious.
“Like I’d tell you.” He sighed, sounding way too comfortable for his own good. You kicked him lighter than you were intending to.
“They’re brown, aren’t they?”
“Why brown?”
“Because I feel like any other color would give you an unfair advantage.”
He settled in further, wanting the training mats to suddenly feel like his mattress back home, “Well I’m no swim team captain but.”
“Jealous?”
“Sure.”
The sweat was making the mats stick to your skin and you felt it aggressively peel from your skin when you turned on your side to face him. Now you were made painfully aware about the cold sweat pooling below you and realized you were in desperate need for a shower.
You rubbed his arm gently, wishing him a good night even though you knew that the sun was up. Robin returned the gesture with a smile, telling you to get a good night’s sleep. As he watched your receding back, a thought came to his mind and he stopped you in your tracks.
“Here’s a thought, why don’t we do something on prom night? Have our own little thing right here? We could watch a movie or something.” He proposed and your brows furrowed, “Don’t you have prom too?”
He did. Which was planned and decorated with the money his father had generously donated. But Dick didn’t feel an ounce of remorse for missing it. He also knew it was the only night that the others wouldn’t be home, all at their own prom. As long as he would get to have a fun night with you.
“Yeah, but I wasn’t planning on going anyway.” Alfred had already pressed his suit and had a special corsage ordered. He was going with Barbara, as friends, but cancelling on her seemed like a small feat in the moment.
“Are you sure?” “Definitely.”
You smiled slightly, nodding before waving goodbye and continuing on your way to the showers. When he heard the door shut, Dick realized just what he had gotten himself to and flopped back onto the mats, ‘What did I just do?’
He’d have to cancel the limo without his dad or Alfred finding out. He’d have to cancel the reservations at the restaurant. For goodness’ sake, he’d have to take a rain check on Barbara. Still, Dick wasn’t able to wipe the smile off his face.
***
You were oddly looking forward to hanging out with Robin tonight. Everyone had already left for their own proms, Zatanna was in a dress that she had borrowed from you. Even though you knew that the prom dress you had been planning to wear would’ve been the best for her school theme, you had a weirdly hard time parting from it, considering it was just a piece of clothing.
All three girls spent a couple hours primping with you, trying their best to include you in some of the fun. You even managed to rope Artemis into getting glammed up. She protested a lot at first but once she got in the chair it was like you had tamed a jungle cat. They had time to style your hair as well and you barely had any idea what was happening while Doja Cat played and you had a sheet mask on. After getting that off, you felt like a new born baby.
You sent all three of them off after taking a ton of pictures and they told you to have a great night too, smiling like they knew something you didn’t.
Now that the cave was completely empty, even Aqualad had left that morning to pay a visit to Atlantis, you were left alone with Robin and were excited about it. You weren’t going to do anything special anyway, other than watching a movie and stuffing your face with food but you were still happy to spend some time with him when you both weren’t sweating like pigs.
Even the thought of sitting beside him on the couch while a movie played had a skip in your step.
Just as you saw the doors to the main hall and a familiar head of hair, you picked up the pace until you stopped walking all together, shocked.
Because there stood Robin waiting by the door with a shy smile on his face. Dressed in a suit and tie.
You chocked out a laugh, not quite sure why it felt like the wind was knocked out of you before walking up to him, gently pulling his fingers away from the tie he was fidgeting with and straightening it out, “A little over-dressed for a movie, don’t you think?”
“Change of plans, we’re going to have our own prom night, right here.”
You giggled, reclipping the tie clip before straightening out the corsage in his breast pocket. You spared a glance up, meeting his eyes and you realized just how close the both of you had gotten. If he didn’t have the sunglasses on, you would’ve been able to see your reflection in his—probably— brown eyes.
You cleared your throat, stepping away from him not before smoothing your hands down the lapels, smiling at just how handsome he looked.
“Wish you would’ve told me. I would’ve matched what I’m wearing to your tie.” You teased.
“Actually, you can.” You raised a brow at this and the red began crawling up his neck, “I asked your mom to drop your dress off. It’s in your room.”
The uncomfortable conversation with Wonder Woman about why he wanted the particular dress that her daughter of the same age was planning to wear to prom was completely worth it when he watched your eyes light up like the sun before throwing your arms around his neck, “Oh my god! I love you!”
The dress fit you like a glove, even though the last time you wore tried it on it had been a teeny bit snug. All those hours training with Robin probably made it fit a little better even though you didn’t look any different. You stood in front of the mirror and couldn’t stop twirling; the dress was just so beautiful and you were over the moon that you got to wear it.
When you met Robin by the door, it felt a little too good to be true, the way he smiled at you just as your eyes met and then held out his arm for you to take. Your heart was sure to stop beating tonight at the rate it was thumping in your chest. You could barely hear him over the sound of it, filled with too much adrenaline and excitement. You could’ve gone for a 100-mile run with the amount of energy you suddenly had.
“You look pretty.”
You grinned and curtsied in an old-fashioned way, tipping an imaginary hat, “Why, thank you. You look pretty dapper yourself.”
He laughed, “Dapper?”
“It’s a word, look it up, tweetie bird.”
“And now all the magic’s dead.”
“Oh? Because I was expecting you to pull out a bouquet from your sleeve there.”
“Actually—” He smiled, pulling out a matching corsage from his suit pocket and holding it out to you, “I went all out.”
He helped you fasten it around your wrist when you struggled to do it with one hand and your breath got caught in your throat. It was awkward, to say the least, the energy between the both of you. In fact, there was so much tension that you felt like you could choke on it. Even though your first response to any kind of distress was to hide underneath the blankets in your bedroom, you still stayed by his side.
“So, what are we waiting for? What movie are we watching?”
It seemed like he finally remembered why he was standing outside the hall in the first place and smiled shyly, a blush faintly painting his cheeks. It felt like he was stalling the more you thought about it, lingering at the door for way too long as if something would explode or jump at you if he put his hand on the handle.
“Actually—”
He opened the door and you gasped, “You need to stop saying ‘Actually’ because every time you do, I get a heart attack.”
How he managed to get all this done in a day was beyond you. The table was filled with snacks and drinks that you knew was meant to be left over for Wally to finish. The TV had a blanket fort in front of it, looking so cozy that you suddenly wanted to take a nap. The holo-computer was projecting something similar to a carnival game, with a couple targets levitating mid-air, labelled with different points.
Your heart fluttered when you realized that Robin had gone through all this just to make sure you’d have a fun night and suddenly your eyes felt alarmingly wet.
“You’re not gonna cry, are you?” Came his incredulous response and you gave him the weakest punch you could possibly muster because you knew any harder could give your date a hairline fracture, “Excuse me. It’s a perfectly healthy emotional response.”
“Yeah, but you cry a lot, have you realized?” He teased, pulling you toward the holo-computer, giving you a simulator stun gun and then picking one up for himself.
“You don’t cry at all, Mr. Roboto,” You cocked the gun and pointed at him playfully, “But no matter, you’ll be crying once I beat you to dust.”
His signature laugh was the next thing you heard and you blushed, embarrassed that you liked it more than you cared to admit, “Let’s just see about that.”
***
“And then she goes—Word for word, I’m not even kidding—” You told, picking up a tennis ball and using it to imitate an apple before pretending to take a bite out of it, “Young lady, eating is simply not allowed on school premises. *crunch* These rules obviously apply to everyone. *crunch* No one is above the rules. *crunch*”
Robin was laughing at your horrible British accent and the way you tried so hard to sound all hoity-toity, had Alfred been here he would’ve been appalled. To be quite honest, you weren’t even sure if the lady was British or not, but it seemed fitting and the way Robin was laughing made you embarrassing yourself a teensy bit worth it.
“Not to mention she’s spewing apple chunks all over me. I can never unsee that image.” You shuddered, shaking your head and his laughs dulled down to chuckles.
“That’s not that bad. Once, our health class teacher was covering contraceptives and such. And he stands in front of the entire class and, with absolutely no hesitation, asks ‘So boys and girls, what are your favorite condom brands?’” You burst into laughter at that hiding your face in your hands as tears began blurring your vision.
“Oh, my goodness, I can’t breathe, stop talking!” You interrupted his story, clutching your stomach and flopping on your back from laughing so hard. He laughed, watching you writhe on the floor, unable to stop the choked chortles that were leaving your lips. Your stomach felt like you had just done an ab workout.
The movie that was playing had long gotten over, the credits frozen on the screen as you both continued to talk, recounting all the hilarious stories you could remember as music played in the background, “Alright, so it’s an all-girls program and all of the girls are chattering about and have their own little groups in the auditorium. And my principal goes, ‘Why are you all standing so close? You all are straight girls, are you not?’”
“Not as bad as a girl volunteering to sing during a school assembly before serenading me in front of the entire school. Even though we’ve never actually talked.” He blushed, remembering just how embarrassing the situation was. You threw your head back, missing the moment Robin took to admire you.
“You little Casanova. Are you really complaining about being a heartthrob?” You teased, nudging him playfully and he rolled his eyes though it was hidden by his glasses.
Eventually the stories and laughter begin to die down as your ears tune into the music playing in the background. Just as a fun, rap song that you weren’t paying attention to but were sure had something to do with sex ended, you heard the familiar tune flow through the speakers and smiled as the singers’ voices filled your ears.
“Ahh, I love this song.” You smiled, listening to the first verse. It was a pretty love song that always got you singing when you heard it playing in the car. It was the song you listened to on repeat when you read a romance book to give you the right feels. Closing your eyes, you recalled the last book you read to the music, smiling as the feeling of giddiness began to flow through you.
“Care to join me for a dance?”
When you opened your eyes, Robin was holding a hand out for you, a gentle and reassuring smile on his face and you didn’t hesitate before taking his hand. If he had asked at the start of the night, you probably would’ve blushed and felt nervous just by holding his hand but after spending a couple hours together, you were finally in tune with each other.
You didn’t mind resting your hands on his shoulders as his floated around your waist before you began swaying to the rhythm. You had spent the whole day together, more or less in the same way; resting against each other while watching the movie, holding his hand when he attempted to throw a ball with your lacrosse stick and failing before you stepped behind him to show him how it was done and finally feeding each other food as you attempted to play the guess different foods while blindfolded.
You giggled at the way Robin squirmed when the petals of your corsage tickled his neck, still swaying out of beat to the song but it didn’t really matter, you were just trying hard not to trip over the slight train of the dress or on his feet.
“It’s occurring to me that I haven’t actually thanked you for all of this.” You began, eyes darting around the place as you took in just how much he had done for you today and your heart swelled in your chest, smiling softly without even realizing it. His fingers tightened their grip on your waist slightly and the light blush crawling on his cheeks was the only indication that he was feeling slightly embarrassed.
You looked him back in the eye, well at your reflection in his sunglasses, “I’m really touched, Rob. No one’s ever done anything like this for me and I really don’t know what to say to make you understand just how much this means to me. Thank you.”
Thank you didn’t even begin to express how much you felt for him at this point, dancing with you in bare feet across the hall. A night you had been dreading for a while, a night you thought would be spent all alone was made one of the best ones since you opened your eyes on the planet just because of him. You couldn’t tell him how grateful you were for that.
He felt embarrassed that you were putting him on the spot this way. You had said so much and a simple ‘You’re welcome’ didn’t seem right to say. It felt awkward and distant and off-putting, how would you continue the conversation after he so rudely shut you down without any other way to continue?
His hands were slightly sweating against your dress and if you noticed the increase of warmth from his palms, you didn’t say anything. So, he said the only thing he could to sort of fill the silence, “It was nothing, really. You really don’t have to thank me; I didn’t do much. Besides, I hardly think any of this could compare to your real pro—”
He was cut of by your hands slowly sliding to delicately cup his cheeks before slanting your lips over his in your first kiss. He inhaled sharply against your lips, fingertips digging into your waist. The kiss itself wasn’t much, just a silky brush of your lips against his without any pressure before you pulled back and gave him an endearing smile, “Thank you.”
He returned it, pulling you a teensy bit closer so he could hold you against him but still far enough so you couldn’t feel his heartbeat thrumming against his ribcage.
***
Not even twenty minutes after the two of you had parted with whispered goodnights, you climbed up the stairs to Robin’s nest, with your makeup freshly washed off and dressed in comfy pajamas. You saw the tip of Robin’s head peek out from the beanbag and smiled. Your heart was slowly sinking to your stomach with the thought of talking to him.
“Hey.”
He turned around, seemingly surprised to see you which he never seemed before. Usually, he could hear you from a mile away. The tie around his neck was loosened, the top button undone and his suit jacket lay wrinkled beside him, though he was still wearing his glasses.
Nonetheless, he gave you a gentle smile, scooting over a little so you could plop beside him on the beanbag, “Missed me already?”
“Yeah.” The honesty in your voice caught him off-guard and he found himself blushing and avoiding your eyes as he waited for you to speak again and tell him why you came up here. Of course, his heart leaped at the thought that you were up here just to see him, even though you spent the whole night together.
“Listen about earlier,” He turned his head to you but this time it was you who wouldn’t look at him, playing with your fingers in your lap, “About the kiss; I’m sorry.”
He could hardly hear anything other than his heartbeat when he heard the tone in your voice and he knew that something bad was going to come. Were you going to tell him that it was a mistake and that you regret it? He wouldn’t hold it against you but his heart tore at even the thought.
“I shouldn’t have done it without asking for permission first, I’m sorry. I was just reliving it and I realized that I never actually asked if I could, you know? It’s just I really like you and got caught up in nerves and emotions and all—” Somehow you managed to catch yourself rambling and stopped, taking a deep breath, “Anyway, if it made you uncomfortable, I just wanted to say that I’m sorry.”
You glanced back up at him with a shy smile, “Are you gonna say something or, do you want me to leave….”
If it was possible, you looked even more beautiful barefaced and hair pulled back from your face than you did in the most beautiful dress he had ever seen you in before.
“Could I kiss you? Please?”
Your breath got caught in your throat and you found yourself leaning in before you could even think of saying anything.
Who were you to say no?

The Blood Within Us Chapter 6
Tumblr media
Summary: Will the reader do whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves when tragedy hits the Wayne family? How far will the truth be tested when she realizes she’s not the only one with secrets of her own?
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x Pregnant Reader
Warnings: signs of trauma, mourning, smoking, neglection
There was a clattering noise that shook the boys to their very core.
They sharply turn their heads and see Alfred shell shocked, with a pool of what appeared to be a metal pan that was holding a few drinks.
Jason took no time and rushed Alfred to a chair in case he would falter, as well as Tim to pick up the discarded drinks and serving tray.
Alfred tries to muster enough words but Jason calms him down before he presumably has a heart attack.
"Your mother asked me to bring down some drinks since you two have been down here so long."
Tim goes up to Alfred, ashamed. "I'm so sorry, Alfred. I didn't mean for any of this to happen." Alfred raises his hand to stop the young boy from speaking anymore.
"Master Drake, I have faced much tyranny in my life. But what you are suggesting to Master Todd is very presumptuous." Alfred then gets up from the chair, dusting off himself so he could return to his senses.
"We know it's a long shot, but don't you think we know a lot of people that can prevent death through science or maybe even magic?"
Alfred shoots up after Jason's remark. "What did you say?" Tim asks, Jason looks at the worried Pennyworth.
"You know, we got mad scientists on speed dial and even-"
"Sorcerers." Tim finished his sentence, looking up and running back to the computer mainframe.
Alfred and Jason follow the young boy in pursuit as he vigorously tapes through the keyboard.
"Alfred, do you know how many mystic figures Bruce has worked with over the past decade?"
He ponders for a bit as he tries to collect his thoughts. "Master Wayne has worked with many in his time, but he only brought few here when it came to dire measures."
Tim finishes his typing and brought out the Justice League files that lead to affiliations.
"Here, I brought out all of the members of the Justice League whose backgrounds can fit what we're looking for."
He starts to click away and takes turns to analyze each person.
"Do you remember the Phantom Stranger?" Tim asks.
"I never met him in person, but he has been outside of the Time Stream. He hasn't meddled in the physical plane for some years."
Time swipes to find a familiar face whom they worked closely for some years.
"Didn't we see Zatanna a few weeks ago?" Tim asks again.
Jason takes his turn to reply. "Zatanna has been working with the Titans. She's been helping them track a rogue demon that was loose from its prison."
Tim groans and lights up when he sees a prestigious character.
"Dr. Fate! Now I know he works closely with the Justice League."
"I believe that he has been guarding the Spiritual realm the past months now." Alfred remarks
Tim grunts in defeat and keeps on swiping quickly until-
"Stop." Jason says, eery.
Tim stops quickly and looks up to the screen, slowly moving back as the missing pieces of his investigation made sense just by reading the name that appeared on the screen:
John Constantine
"The traces of tobacco, the fake alias of Carson Jackson, it all makes sense now..." Jason steps away closely, never a fan of the smoking sorcerer.
"Mom mentioned she saw someone smoking at the base when we visited," Jason murmured.
Alfred becomes quiet as he turns away from the screen.
"Master Drake, I advise you to carefully reconsider this assumption of Mr. Constantine. Surely, he is a troubled spirit, but why do you think he has made great lengths to hide such evidence?"
Tim waits for a bit as he looks at Alfred. "Because Bruce asked him to." Jason turns around at his brother.
"You're saying Bruce purposely faked his death? Why would he go through all of this trouble?"
"Because he needed to finish the mission alone." Tim answered, going back to the mainframe to open the past files. "He's going to get back that necklace from the League of Assasins."
"We still don't know what that necklace can do, do you think that's why Bruce had to do this alone?" Tim was about to answer Jason until Alfred interfered.
"Enough." he said sternly, taking the boys by surprise.
Alfred takes a deep breath before continuing. "I apologize for raising my voice, but this is all speculation. Firstly, we do not know if Master Wayne is alive. We cannot blindly lead ourselves to believe that there is a possibility..." He stops, trying to push back his tears.
He then calms down and continues his speech "...and what would your mother think if you were to tell her? She has been under such stress and if you were to give her false hope, I believe more heartache would be too much for her to bear."
Jason and Tim didn't realize what this information would do to you and their brothers. "We're sorry Alfred." Tim said, looking at his hands.
Alfred then grabbed the metal tray he had brought down and headed toward the exit. He takes one more glance at the young boys he raised and gives them one final speech.
"But if he were to be alive, I imagine he did what he had to do in order to keep you all out of harm's way. Don't dive in unless you're ready to be greeted by what's in the trenches." and with that, Alfred goes up within the elevator.
Jason and Tim look at each other in silence, figuring out what to do now. "Alfred's right. We need to figure out what's going on before telling Ma and the others. But let's call it a night" Tim shakes his head in agreement as the two brothers decide to go up to their rooms.
If only they knew they were so right.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clark flies high above the forest, keeping a level head before landing at a particular spot he's been secretly visiting for weeks.
He uses a metal key to open the door, being greeted by the dark interior as well as the aroma of tobacco.
With a simple breath, he breezes out the fumes, never been the one to enjoy such a distasteful scent. He hears a loud gruff and sees the unfavored sorcerer who just finished another cigarette.
"Oi, have to ruin all of the fun, buzz killer?" Constantine said, placing his cigarette in a nearby ashtray. "Where is he?" Clark questions as he towers over John.
"He's in the back. A bit grumpy I tell ya, so don't be surprised if he carries a kryptonite repellent." Clark then goes into the direction of a personal office, sliding the door being met with a man facing his back to him, too inverse in what he was reading on the screen.
"We need to talk." Clark's voice boomed the room. The man continues to type away on his keyboard, not acknowledging the man of steel's presence.
"Why can't you just reach out to them?" Clark asks, not only as a colleague but as a friend.
"Your boys are so lost without you. Did you know Damien called our house late at night to ask if he could talk to my son on the phone? Jon told me that Damien barely talks to his family because he thinks he's the reason you're gone. He's 9, Bruce... he's 9 years old, not far from the age when you lost your parents. And I've been reaching out to Dick but he's shutting me out. He's shutting everyone out because he's trying to be just like you. He thinks he has to do things alone. He had to call the Titans to tell them that he was permanently leaving the team. Dick told them that the world cannot live without Batman. From what I heard, Tim hasn't been patroling because he's working almost full time at the cave and the business. Jason has been picking up the family after you left and he has so much life to live for. And..."
Clark walks closer and slaps down a black and white picture in front of him.
"She gave me this, I thought you should keep it instead of me." The brooding man doesn't dare to turn his head as he knows what is.
Clark walks to the door before saying his last remarks. "I get it, what we're doing is dangerous. But your family needs you, more than ever. I'll come back tomorrow to talk about our mission."
And with that, the Kryptonian walks away to leave the lonesome man to his thoughts.
He looks down and grabs the picture into his hand, now being stained by his tears.
For once in his life, Bruce Wayne was ashamed of what he has done.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You begin tossing and turning in your bed.
Eyes still closed, you start to talk in your sleep.
But unfortunately, it begins to turn into screaming.
It was as if you were falling into a void that didn't have any ground, making you scream louder.
Your body begins to shake, not by your own will but by someone else.
"Mom, wake up!" a voice cried out.
You took a sharp breath in and opened your eyes, jerking upward. You look on the side and see Dick looking beyond worried.
You slowly tear up and muffle your cries in your hands, feeling Dick envelop you in a hug.
"I heard screaming when I came up, I thought you got hurt." You shake your head against his chest, trying to even your breath.
"It was just a nightmare, that's all." Dick lets you go and looks sternly at you.
"Mom, it's not the first time we heard crying from your room. This was the first time that it got worse." He says, sitting near your legs as you dried your tears with the back of your hand.
"Jason said you've been forgetting meals since you've been working at your office. You've been avoiding going to your room, the study, even the cave. We know that you're trying to be strong for us, but we're worried about you and the baby."
You slowly snake your hand at your midsection, moving your thumb back and forth on your stretched skin that was forming a bump.
"You're right. I'm sorry for worrying you boys. I'm going to reach out for help, ok? You don't need to take care of me, that's my job to care for you all."
Dick chuckles and gets up to kiss the top of your head.
"I'll let you go to sleep. But know that everyone is going to support you no matter what." You smile at his statement as he exits the guest room, slowly closing your door.
You wait for a moment till you reach your phone by the nightstand, dialing a number you were once familiar with.
"Hi, Arkham Asylum? May I ask what your family visitation hours are?"

♡ prompt: a baby appears into your timeline to reveal an unexpected surprise.
♡ pairing: Bart Allen (Impulse) x fem reader
♡ note: not checked for grammar or spelling mistakes / for OBVIOUS reasons, it’s altered when it comes to the canon universe because we all know legitimate canon wouldn’t work for this....pain. also!! please if any of you are interested in more characters with prompt, let me know!!
both you and Bart weren’t together. not in the slightest. at the very least, both of you had flirted with each other, PLAYFULLY and all things considered, Bart liked to talk to girls when he had the chance. he was very much like Wally in that sense.
since you weren’t exactly the type to try to flirt with every person with a pulse like Bart did, you really only playfully ‘flirted’ with Jaime, Gar, and sometimes Robin when you were feeling extra confident.
the lair was extra dead tonight with only you, Bart, and Gar sitting down and watching whatever was on TV. you had you legs kicked up on Gar as Bart was reaching over to your lap to grab the popcorn that you were holding.
“the lair being this dead seems unnaturally calm,” you told the two boys. they nodded in agreement but before you could even take another breathe, all of your eyes were averted to the large blue orb that was suddenly in the room. Bart grabbed his gear from behind the couch and Gar immediately transformed. you grabbed the pocket knife from your pocket and held it in a very similar Michael Meyers pose, “what the hell is happening,” you heard Gar whisper.
as all of you were ready to attack, all of you saw a baby, no older than ten months pop out. your instincts immediately jumped to grab the infant before it fell on the ground. you looked to the boys with wide eyes before staring back down to the baby, “oh, hi baby,” you whispered as it let out a cry.
“that’s a baby!” Gar screamed, not knowing what to do. both you and Bart looked at him like he was an idiot, “of course it is! what else would it be?” you retorted, not in the mood to hear his slight stupidity while a child was wailing.
you grabbed the blanket you were using a while ago and wrapped it around her like your sister had taught you. having a niece you guessed at its perks as the baby immediately calmed down, “call someone!” you whispered to the two, “Nightwing, Megan, fucking hell, even the Bat if you can!”
both Gar and Bart ran to the nearest COMM link and rang for anyone in the Justice League or your leaders. as Gar was standing behind you, admiring the tiny baby, he looked at her before looking at you and Bart, “huh, she kinda looks like if she was some kind of combination of the two of you,” Gar said off-handedly.
you and Bart looked at each other before laughing hysterically. a kid? with Bart no less? that sounded like some kind of joke if you’ve ever heard one. Bart sat down next to you and peeked at the hair, “he does have that Allen red hair though,” you stared at him before smacking the back of his head.
it didn’t take long before Nightwing, Robin, and Batman ran into the lair. whatever distress signal Gar or Bart let out must’ve worked because you had never saw any of the three get here as fast as they just did. you looked to Nightwing and Batman while showing them the sleeping baby.
“the three of us were just watching a movie when a blue orb came literally out of nowhere and the baby popped out. we swear we didn’t do ANYTHING,” you explained through nervousness. Batman hummed, seeing how calm the baby was, “kinda looks like the two of you,” Nightwing said out of curiosity.
“THAT’S WHAT I SAID!” Gar yelled, “it has her hair but Bart’s hair color.” you sighed out of annoyance as Nightwing agreed. Batman on the other hand looked at you and back to Bart who was eerily quiet for someone who talked A LOT.
he gave Dick a look as if the two of communicating telepathically. on instant, Dick looked to the three of you, “what did we say about leaving stray cups around,” Nightwing told the three of you. you sighed, “sorry, we didn’t have time to pick up,” you said grabbing your pink Solo cup and tossing it in the trash.
“we’ll see what we can do to get the child back where it belongs,” Batman said giving you a look, “the baby hasn’t given you any trouble, right? come with me and bring the child. we can run a DNA sample and see if he has any connections to any of the members whether it’s in the league or among the team,” he asked.
discreetly, Tim had gotten a cotton swab and took the spit from the residue on the solo cup and put it in his small pocket before following all of you. you felt the baby stir in your arms and as she opened her eyes, you smiled down at it. you had no idea where these maternal instincts came from but oddly enough, you had this mother bear protectiveness over her.
you waited for something that had to be brought by Nightwing to the lair and during that time, you played with the baby, who Bart decided to call Autumn for the time being. Nightwing came back a bit later and gave whatever he brought to Nightwing as he watched you and Bart play with the girl.
while the two of you wanted to hand the baby over to Gar, Megan, Zatanna, hell even Robin, she immediately refused and let out a blaring cry whenever you or Bart let her go. everyone immediately handed her back to you or Bart as soon as she started crying and almost as quickly as she started crying, she stopped when you or Bart held her.
“do you think I can go feed her? she’s probably hungry,” you told Nightwing. he nodded as you got up with the baby and grabbed her by the arms, holding them high in the air so she could use her legs to walk without falling, “she seems like a great mom,” Nightwing said.
without a thought or even a second heart beat, Bart nodded in agreement as he watched you walk out. Bart wanted to follow you but didn’t want to seem like he was overwhelming you so he stayed with the Bats and Gar.
not even realizing, he had fallen asleep against the wall as DNA results pinged up on Tim’s screen. the baby had the closest match to your DNA and using the spit from the previous DNA testing Bart had done on Bart, both of your photos showed up as the parents. Tim got Dick’s and Bruce’s attention without trying to make a scene.
Dick laughed because of course the two of you were the parents. no wonder Autumn didn’t want anyone to hold her except for the two of you. as Dick looked down to look at Bart, he saw that he had finally woken up. Tim signaled that he was in the kitchen, trying to make Autumn laugh.
“ironic how that works out,” Gar said. Nightwing and Batman agreed as he told Nightwing to be the one to break the news to the two of you. Gar wanted to hear what you both said when he told you and Tim tagged along as a result.
as they all entered the kitchen, they heard ‘Killer Queen’ by Queen playing from your phone as you and Bart were playing with Autumn. “hey, did the results come back? I bet 50 bucks it was Megan’s and Connor’s!” you said.
Nightwing handed you the papers in a manila folder. you couldn’t help but laugh at how eerily reminiscent this was to a Maury TV show segment. you opened the folder to see your team photo right along Barts as the arrows pointed to the Autumn.
out of sheer shock, you dropped the folder on the floor as you felt like the wind was knocked out of you. Bart looked at the ground to see what the results were but he, unlike you, laughed. you had given Nightwing the baby to hold before grabbing the folder.
“congrats?” Gar said awkwardly, “you’re parents!”
before you could respond to his witty comments, you saw the same blue orb enter the lair again. you stared at the orb as two people walked out, arguing with each other at the top of their lungs. you grabbed the baby from Nightwing and held it tightly against your chest as Bart went into defense mode and jumped in front of the two of you.
“i think it’s the two of you from the future,” Robin said as eerily similar version of the two of you walked into view. future you immediately sighed in relief as she saw you holding the baby, “so she did get sent to the past,” future you said.
you looked yourself, “so, I’m assuming bird boy here did his little magic and figured out both of you were the parents?” you said. you nodded as older Bart chuckled and stood next to his younger self, “how did we get together?” he asked himself.
“what’s the date?” he asked. Nightwing gave him the date and Bart laughed, “you’ll see in a few weeks actually. word of advice, don’t piss her off while she’s pregnant. I learned this the hard way,” Bart warned. older you smiled at you as you stood next to Bart, “we gotta go back to our timeline. the twins are killing me and she’s getting restless,” you said.
“TWINS?” all of you screamed at the sudden confession. older you smacked yourself as Bart warned you about spoilers, “twins....” you murmured to yourself as your older versions walked back into the orb and waved all of you off.
Nightwing had told Gar and Tim to leave the two of you alone so you could process what you had just found out. you looked too Bart who was scratching the back of his head, “we have kids together, huh?” you told Bart, “three kids at that,” he replied.
you gave Bart a smile, “whenever you’re done flirting with every girl on the planet, you know where you can find me,” you told him, giving Bart a wink before walking back into the kitchen, “no fair! you flirt with Jaime all the time!” he retorted as he walked into the kitchen.

I've seen people say that this would make a better dp x percy jackson crossover prompt, but - while I do agree - I'm not a percy jackson fan. which is kind of ironic considering how much I love mythology and such.
I did have more ideas for this in regards to interactions such as:
Diana bringing Zatanna or Captain Marvel as her "plus one" (because she doesn't trust cronos, circe, and a few other gods/goddesses/titans)
The awkwardness of her father asking about her mom.
Athena trying to convince her to join the ranks of the gods as the new goddess of truth
Danny being overwhelmed with how many names he's going to have to keep track of.
Danny freaking out that he's now the uncle of (or great uncle of depending on continuity) Wonder Woman who happens to be one of the world's best superheroes.
Diana and her plus one trying to figure out if Danny's a threat to earth or not.
If her plus one is Cap (and we use the twitch chat au), then he's trying to avoid Zeus, Achilles, Atlas, and Hercules (and Hermes/Mercury) because he's stuck with them in his head anyway, he doesn't need to talk to them in person
Diana meeting Pandora.
A little after Clockwork adopted Danny he decided to throw a "family reunion" to introduce him to his new siblings and nieces and nephews. Admittedly, he did forget that he never apologized for the time he went crazy with power and ate his kids until he received a response from his oldest, Hestia, asking him if this was a plot of some kind. (She also seemed to be open to reconciliation though, so he was hopeful)
Wonder Woman had been chatting with Hawkwoman when a glowing green envelope appeared on the table in front of her with her name on it.

Kaldur, tired as he was, held himself at the ready as he patrolled the escheresque stairs of the Tower of Fate. Beneath him, Garth and Queen Mera prepared for the ritual with the other great magicians of Earth. He shut any envy out of his heart and straightened his spine. Someone had to be a protector. Such was the role he chose, and he would do it with honor and grace.
Kaldur continued his path along the stair, walking under an arch and appearing, right-ways-up, in a long hallway. Between flickering torches and velvet curtains, paintings hung in an orderly line.
The first, was Zatanna. She smirked down at him, confident and playful. Kaldur admired her strength. Ten years of watching his dear friend and teammate grow, and she’d never lost that part of herself.
As he walked the long hall he found a painting of Traci with her lizard draped over her shoulder. Khalid, who smiled down at Kaldur hopefully, was next. He’d known them only a short while. Though adults by the League’s metric they still looked dreadfully young to Kaldur.
Then there was Giovanni. Rather than painted with the youth of a decade prior, he looked as he did now. White haired and bearded. Kaldur rubbed his own scruff. Unlike the others, Zatara did not smile. His face was worn—the face of a man who traded himself for his daughter. A daughter who, too clever by half, bartered a better deal with Fate.
Kaldur looked at his own hands, the eel heads staring back. While Giovanni sacrificed ten years, while Zatanna, Traci, and Khalid bargained a quarter of their lives away, Kaldur had sacrificed not but five minutes when he put on that helmet. Nabu had been so quick to toss him aside with only gentle prodding from Kent Nelson. Kaldur had not been Doctor Fate. He’d been a blip. He belonged to Fate’s legacy no more than Wally did.
Kaldur continued walking, but now his mind was stuck on old wonderings. What if he’d completed his studies? If he’d been a better sorcerer, would Nabu have not let him go? And wouldn’t that have been better? If it’d been him, he could have spared Zatanna that pain. He could’ve stopped his father long before he began trafficking metas. He could’ve saved Tula. Maybe even Wally. But…if he’d worn that helmet the last ten years, he never would have become Aquaman. Dolphin would not have become his sister. He and Wyynde would have never met.
The memory of Wyynde’s reassuring touch ghosted along Kaldur’s hand, and he closed his eyes. Head tilted back, he let out a long breath and let his shoulders relax. When he opened his eyes, he saw his younger self staring back with sure eyes and a carefully neutral smile. He took a step back, to view his portrait in line with the rest. On one side, a younger Zatanna smiled like she’d just worked a complicated spell for the first time. On the other, Wally stared out sourly, as if chagrined to have a place in mystical history.
Kaldur laughed; it was such a perfect likeness of the speedster. And, looking back to his own portrait, he laughed harder. He’d been so young and so convinced that he needed to take on everything, that he was worthless if he couldn’t shoulder his burdens alone. It wasn’t funny. But it was. Because that loyal, lonely face had no inkling of the betrayal and destruction he would wrought or the forgiveness and love he would receive. It was funny because Kaldur kept forgetting to learn his lesson.
As his laughter petered out, Kaldur touched a hand to the edge of his portrait. “They love you, you know. Just remember. Symbiosi.”
Later, once the ritual was complete, Kaldur returned to Shayeris. At the dinner table, with his dad (the man who raised him), his mom, his adoptive sister, and his boyfriend gathered all around him, he broached the idea of undertaking a new magical pursuit.

PROLOGUE | CHAPTER 1 | CHAPTER 2 | CHAPTER 3 | CHAPTER 4 | CHAPTER 5 | CHAPTER 6 | CHAPTER 7 | CHAPTER 8
Tumblr media
Eobard Thawne clutches his fist down beside him, surely feeling the surge of Speed Force energy running through his entire body once more. He looks like he’s just taken a hit of the most addictive drug—eyes flashing a dangerous crimson, his whole being vibrating at the speed of sound before everyone’s eyes.
The Reverse Flash turns to Libby and Belle—who both remain frozen in place out of sheer shock after realizing that this man isn’t who he claimed to be—and gives them one of his iconic shit-eating grins.
“Thank you, girls,” he says smugly. “I couldn’t have achieved any of this without you. The next time I have your real uncle under my boot, I’ll think of you wonderful girls.”
“What have we done…?” Belle whispers rhetorically to her sister. A speechless Liberty only shakes her head in reply.
Eobard locks eyes with Barry, who stands in the doorway to the kitchen. The villain smirks before he bolts off, running upward along the diminishing forcefield wall and out through one the holes forming in it. Barry watches on as he decides to let his adversary go. He’s learned by now it’s never the last time he’ll see Eobard Thawne. That bastard always seems to find a way back into everyone’s lives. He’s like a cockroach that won’t stay dead.
Yes… Barry will come face to face with the Reverse Flash again. He may not know when, but when he does, he’ll be ready.
Because right now, you need him.
Your world is falling apart.
Again.
The forcefield continues to fall slowly from above. Your time is limited. You know that in mere minutes, everything will disappear, including the people you love.
“Mom, we’re so, so sorry,” Belle tells you desperately. “We thought he was just teaching us how to perfect our powers. It felt like a game!”
“My dear, sweet girls,” you look them straight in the eyes as you explain to them, “I assure you both, it’s not your fault. Okay? You had no idea who he really was or what he was capable of. It’s not your fault, do you understand me?” They nod through their tears. “You two may have grown up incredibly fast, far too fast for my liking, in fact, but I am so thrilled that you were- are mine. You will always be my little girls. No matter what.”
“Thank you for being our mom,” Liberty says to you in all seriousness.
“No one is cooler or stronger than you,” Belle adds with a smile very reminiscent of her fathers’. If these two aren’t careful, you’re going to completely lose it in front of them.
Off in the distance, you spot Barry watching this heartfelt scene play out. You wave him over to meet his nieces, so he can see what you’ve created for yourself up close and personal. Libby and Belle should meet their real uncle, a true hero, before they’re…
Barry places a hand each on the girls’ shoulders. See, Barry? They’re real. And I’ll lose them too. Do you feel my pain now? This is what I live through all the time.
Barry’s eyes begin to glisten until the tiny bulbs of tears hold still, unwilling to fall just yet.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you both,” he tells them. “You’re both such bright stars.” They give bittersweet smiles up at him in silence. You don’t think they fully understand what will come to pass in mere minutes, but you do. You can feel it in your bones.
Barry steps back from your family unit so that you all can have one more last moment together. You take this final opportunity to bring your girls in close for a tight hug, letting a sob escape you despite trying to keep it together for your family. You wave a hand over to your husbands as if to gesture for them to get in on this family group hug, and quickly. They do so promptly, all four of them enveloping you, Liberty, and Belle as if to form a loving hug shield.
“I love you,” you make sure to say these three precious words, making eye contact to each and every one of those you have magicked into being here with you today… before they disintegrate before your very eyes.
And soon enough, you can’t even feel them anymore. The forcefield has vanished within the Lab’s basement, along with the Wells and the twins.
You cry. You shake and your body wracks with the sort of sobs that hurt your throat. Barry makes sure he holds you tightly. Caitlin approaches carefully and ends up holding your hand. Then it’s Cisco who puts his own hand on your shoulder as everyone else in the room looks on at your despair.
***
After some much-needed rest in the Medbay, you awake to a spookily quiet Labs. You’re not sure of the time (or day, even), but regardless, you figure it’s best to head home. Goodness knows it’s probably still in shambles. That’ll need to be fixed.
You heave a sigh as you leave the Cortex.
“Come on, you can sigh louder than that.”
You turn around to find the unexpected voice belonging to Zatanna. You imagine she must have had to recoup as well from the amount of magic she would have used to break through to your world.
“Oh, hey,” you say tiredly. “I take it you’re on your way, then?”
“Yeah, I have a show in Coast City in two days, so I better head off.”
“Listen, I’m really sorry to have brought you into all this madness.”
“No, please. If anything, I should thank you as well as offer my condolences... Your magic is something I've never seen before. Honestly, I’m still intrigued by it.” Zatanna hesitates. “Would it be weird if I gave you my contact information? I don’t come across many others with true magic. I’d love to keep in touch. Maybe we could learn from each other?”
“Yes, of course,” you agree. “I think that’s a great idea.” She hands you her card—a glittery black business card with her name and number.
“So, hey,” she says, “You going to be okay?”
You take a few seconds to think her question over.
“I think, in time, I could be,” you answer truthfully.
“I know it may not be much,” Zatanna says, “but one of my powers involves granting wishes. Before I go, is there anything I can do for you? You’ve been through so much. I’ve seen it. And everybody has something they're hoping for. Something they wish they could change…” She pauses, waiting for your answer, but also seems distracted. You wonder what kind of life this woman has led. What has she done in her past that she regrets or wishes for from the bottom of her heart?
“I only wish for Harrison Wells to be in my life,” you answer honestly. Is that so much to ask for? It seems to be that way.
“Is that what your heart most desires?”
You sigh. “More than anything.”
There’s another pause.
“You know, sometimes you’ll find that our wishes come true on their own, even without magic,” the magician points out ominously.
“That’s code for “I just can’t make that wish come true,” isn’t it?” you joke, somewhat.
“The people that we love—they’re only gone when we stop carrying them with us. How you choose to carry Harrison Wells is up to you.”
You let that sink in and press a hand to your heart. He will always be here with you. Right here. You’ll make sure of it.
“I wish you all the luck and magic in the world, (Y/N),” Zatanna says kindly. “It was nice to meet you.”
You nod in thanks, unsure of how to respond to that. With her aged, thick book under her arm, Zatanna Zatara walks down the S.T.A.R. Labs corridor, but you swear her body vanishes before she rounds the corner…
Despite all the trouble you’ve put her through—everyone, really—with all of this, you can still take comfort in the act of making a new friend.
As you walk through the empty hallways of the Labs, you make it to where the elevator lies. You go to press the button to summon the machine when a ding sounds before your finger even touches the button. The doors slide open, and the face that greets you shocks you to your very core.
“Hello, there,” he says.
In fact, you are so stunned that you take a step back, but in doing so, you stumble and begin to topple over. Luckily, a certain someone’s quick arms catch you in time.
The face you know all too well, Harrison Wells, that is, glows with a calm happiness as he looks down at you in his arms. Behind immaculate see-through frames, his pretty blues eyes twinkle like the stars. He smiles like he knows you. You stare up in disbelief, in relief, and in love.
“Hello… Harrison.”

My review of Nightwing’s Arc in Young Justice Phantoms
Transcript under the cut.
Hello! This is my review of the last arc of Young Justice Phantoms and possibly the last of the whole series.
Now this was Nightwing’s arc but I feel like I’m not going to talk about Nightwing all that much since the arc wasn’t really about him. I mean yeah he was heavily involved in it and was important to the plot at some points but it wasn’t ABOUT him y’know? It wasn’t really a Nightwing arc, it was more of an Everyone arc, which I guess does make sense with it being the last arc so it ties up a lot of the loose ends from previous arcs and whatnot. I know a lot of people wanted his arc to be about rescuing Jason and Damian from Ra’s al Ghul and they were upset that that didn’t happen. I’m actually okay with that. Now I love Jason and Damian and I especially love their relationships with Dick and them being brothers but I’m glad Dick’s arc focused on the team instead. I mean Nightwing doesn’t know that Jason is still alive or that Damian even exists so why would he go looking for them in the first place? Save that for a future season... if we get future seasons.
So Nightwing’s arc was about tracking down and saving Conner. What did we learn about Dick as a character during these five episodes? Well we learned that he occasionally goes back to perform at Haly’s Circus. Zatanna mentions that he retreats there every few years so this can’t be the first time he’s been back since that episode near the end of season 1 where he takes the team on a mission to the circus. I really liked seeing that! I love that he goes back to his roots sometimes and that was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole season. Nightwing is my absolute favorite character in all of DC Comics so I love seeing him be happy and he seemed to really enjoy being back at the circus. We’re shown that since Oracle is around, he doesn’t really stay up to date on his hacking skills which is kind of funny. We also learned that he quotes Lord of the Rings apparently. And we learn that he can fake his death by slowing down his heart. That does sound like something Batman would teach him how to do. Like when it was revealed that he quote unquote “died” in the second to last episode, I kind of had a feeling he wasn’t really dead. And that was pretty much all the new stuff we learned about him. Not much but I’ll take it.
Now speaking of fake deaths. There were a lot this season. Maybe a little too many. I know this season is called “Phantoms” which means ghosts which implies people would die but the number of fake deaths was just... kind of a lot. I know characters die and fake their deaths in comics all the time so the show is actually accurate in that way but still it was a little much. Like there was Nightwing, Superboy, basically everyone on Bioship, Rocket kind of. M’gann faked her death twice. Did anyone actually die?? Oh Tomar Re. Then Lor-Zod told Tomar’s son that he hoped he could follow in his father’s footsteps... that was messed up considering Lor was the one that killed Tomar Re. OH! Lor himself died too. I mean sort of. He DID die but his mom is still pregnant with him so he could some back. Isn’t time travel great! Now with baby Lor-Zod coming along, there is a chance that future seasons could do what’s done with him in the comics. Because in the comics Lor is actually adopted by Superman and Lois and raised as Christopher Kent. I saw that some people were upset that his character was changed so much in Young Justice but with his mom still being pregnant with him, there’s still a chance his true comic story line could come into play in season 5. If there will even be a season 5.
There is a pretty solid set up for season 5 with that end credit scene featuring Mary Marvel and Supergirl working for Darkseid. That would be really cool to see and they’ve both been evil in the comics before so there are story lines that Greg and Brandon could pull from. I think that could be really interesting. And it’s nice to finally have conformation that Kara even exists on Earth 16. I’ve been wondering for years if she would show up. Glad to finally see her even if she’s one of the bad guys at the time.
It kind of makes me think what could have happened if Superman had actually been sent to New Genesis like General Zod mentioned Clark’s biological parents could have done. Like in the last episode Zod talks about how Lara and Jor-El could have sent their son to New Genesis but didn’t. Wouldn’t that make for a really cool Alternate Universe? Kal on New Genesis and Kara on Apokolips? They would be enemies but in a totally different way. I just think that would be really cool. I mean there is that Alternate Universe where Superman lands in Russia and is raised there so a universe where he’s raised by the New Gods would be super interesting too. Or maybe that would be too fanfiction-ey.
While I thought that was interesting, there were some things I wish had been done differently.
I was disappointed that we didn’t get a reunion between Bart and Jay Garrick. I felt bad that Jay came home to an empty house and I really wanted to see them hug or something but we got nothing from them. I also wanted to see a reunion between M’gann and the original team right when she got back from Mars, earlier in the season. I just wanted to see them all mourn Conner together. I feel like we didn’t get to see too much of that. I think we saw more of Beast Boy mourning him than any of the others. And I wish we had gotten a bit more of a reunion between Conner and the other team members. I know he was suffering from Zone sickness and brainwashing but I wish we could have gotten a big group hug with the whole original team after his mind was fixed.
And about his mind getting fixed. I thought it was a little too easy. Like he changed rather quickly after M’gann showed him some memories of them, and I wish she had showed him memories of the whole team and not just solely memories of the two of them. Okay I know he had flashbacks earlier of Clark but what M’gann showed him was just her and him together, which is fine and all, but I wish she had shown him memories of the whole team interacting and bonding in addition to their love memories. It wasn’t bad, I just wanted a little bit more because I felt like it was too easy that he turned back to being good. He was confused and brainwashed for weeks. I feel like he would need more than just remembering his loved ones. He’s going to need some serious therapy after all of that.
Speaking of heroes needing therapy... Okay I’ve never actually read Heroes in Crisis so when Black Canary said they needed a Sanctuary, I had no reaction because I did not realize the significance of that. But I saw people talking about it and being worried so I read the summery for that story and yeah I’m kind of worried too. Now if you’re unfamiliar with Heroes in Crisis, it’s a comic about heroes and some villains getting mental health aid at a place called the Sanctuary, which is a good idea in theory, but it all goes bad and people die. That’s a very brief overview of it, like I said I’ve never read it (though maybe I will in the future). The thing about this comic though is that Wally West is incredibly important to the plot and as we know, Wally is -supposedly- dead in Young Justice. So does the possible inclusion of this story line in season 5 mean that Wally will come back? Maybe. But maybe not.
If there’s anything we know about Young Justice, it’s that it doesn’t really follow the comics all that much, for better or worse. Greg and Brandon will often take stories from the comics and tweak them, sometimes a little, sometime a lot. For example in season 3 they did the Judas Contract but they did it way different than how it’s usually done, which honestly I liked how they changed it. I thought it was good that they didn’t do a rehash of the same story that we’ve seen several times. Like I know the Judas Contract was done differently each time in the New Teen Titans comic, then in the Teen Titans cartoon, then that animated movie but I feel like Young Justice Outsiders did it way different than any of the others and I like that. Also as I mentioned earlier, they do Lor-Zod different than in the comics. Like Greg and Brandon sort of do the opposite in that Dru-Zod takes Superboy and quote unquote “raises” him to support Zod’s cause while in the comics it’s Superman who takes in Zod’s son to raise as his own. Young Justice sort of does the flip side of what’s done in the comics.
The point I’m trying to make is that since this show doesn’t always follow the comics, maybe the writers can find a way to tell the Heroes in Crisis story even though Wally is dead. Maybe they could give Wally’s role in that comic to Barry, or Bart, or Jay. Or some other completely random character that has nothing to do with the Flash. OR they might not have anything bad happen to the Sanctuary at all. Maybe on Earth 16, the Sanctuary totally works and is all around a good thing and no one dies as a result. I mean that wouldn’t be super interesting but maybe the writers could make it work. Who knows?
Despite some things that I didn’t like about this season, such as characters not actually being the focus of their own arcs, I will say that I enjoyed this season much more than season 3. I wasn’t a big fan of season 3 and it still remains my least favorite season out of the 4. The thing I didn’t like about Outsiders, and I think I mentioned this in my video of Rocket’s arc, is that I didn’t care that much about the new characters. I didn’t care about Brion, Forager, Dr. Helga Jace, or even M’gann’s brother M’comm that much. I did care about Halo but only a little bit. But now after Phantoms, I have to say that I do care about these characters a little bit more. Except for Forager. I still don’t care that much about Forager sorry. I don’t Hate him, I just don’t care that much about him. I still hate Dr. Jace though. I do care a little bit more about Brion now. Only a little bit though. Mainly just his interactions with Lizard Johnny and Fury I thought was nice. He’s just definitely not going to be one of my favorites though. I care more about Halo too. I did care about them in season 3, they were definitely my favorite of the new characters, but this season really made me care about them a lot. I really liked their new costume which is more inline with the comics version, and their new relationship with Harper Row and figuring out their pronouns. I also really enjoyed seeing them visit Gabrielle Daou’s mother and talking about Islam. Now I’m not Muslim so I don’t know how accurate their conversation was but I still thought it was a really nice character moment.
I saw some people were upset about the inclusion of LGBT characters and religion saying that it was pandering and took away from the show. Honestly it didn’t bother me at all. Religious people and LGBT people exist in real life so why shouldn’t they exist in media too? If it’s done respectfully at least, and I feel like it was done mostly respectfully. The only thing that even kind of bothered me about the religious stuff was when Zatara says the Lord’s Prayer in episode 11 but he doesn’t finish it. He leaves out the very last verse, “For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” But it’s not that big of a deal I guess. It’s only one extra sentence and maybe there are different versions that I just don’t know about. Whatever it’s not that big of a deal.
Anyway, I got a bit off topic. I was saying that season 4 made me care more about characters that I didn’t care that much about in season 3 and the last one of those characters is M’comm or Ma’alefa’ak. I still don’t really like him because he’s y’know a jerk and tried to commit genocide. But I did really like his interactions with M’gann. One of my favorite parts of the whole season was the mirrored conversations between M’gann and Ma’alefa’ak and then Em’ree. M’gann talks to her brother and he accuses her of being a bad sister and abandoning him and asked why she didn’t help his as a kid to which M’gann says she was just a kid too. And then she has a similar conversation with her sister Em’ree accusing her of being a bad sister and not helping her when they were kids only for Em’ree to say the same thing: that she was just a kid too. I feel like that added so much to all three of their characters and it was really well done. It makes rewatching season 3 a little more enjoyable.
Another thing that I didn’t like about season 3 was the secret keeping and I’m really glad they kept that to a minimum in Phantoms. Every single season has had some secrets being held, and I get that because secrets cause conflict and you need conflict to tell a compelling story. I just didn’t like how the big secret in season 3 was handled about those League members quitting but other members were in on it. There’s that scene in episode 22 of Outsiders when Black Lightning is, understandably, upset at Nightwing for his lies and secrets. There’s a similar scene in episode 13 of Invasion when Superboy is, understandably, upset at Nightwing for his lies and secrets about Artemis not really being dead and Kaldur being undercover. I didn’t like that they basically rehashed the same secret-keeping conflict two seasons in a row. It felt like lazy writing in my opinion. Any why did it have to be Nightwing bearing the brunt of the secrets both times?  The only secret he kept in season 1 was his own identity and I’m not going to fault him for that. But some of the other secrets? It was just too much and kind of annoying.
And now in Phantoms, the only like really big secret was in this last arc when the team doesn’t tell M’gann that Conner might still be alive. And while I get their reasoning, I still kind of wish they had told her. Nightwing says they can’t tell her because it would give her false hope and if they ended up being wrong then it would kill M’gann. I kind of agree so that’s why I’m not like that upset about this secret. My only issue with that is Artemis. Think about it. Artemis knows EXACTLY what Miss Martian is going through. She lost Wally. Now put Artemis in M’gann’s place. What if the team had found evidence that Wally was still alive but they didn’t tell Artemis and she found out later? I feel like Artemis would be really pissed off in that situation so I do find it strange that she didn’t insist that they tell M’gann. It would have saved some confusion at least. But I admit that is kind of a small thing and it doesn’t really bother that much. Only a little bit.
And it all ended up being okay in the end with Conner coming back and him marrying M’gann. I still think it’s a weird relationship because they don’t have any romance in the comics, that I know of at least. I haven’t read ever single comic ever produced so maybe there are some where Conner and M’gann are together that I just don’t know about but as far as I’m aware, they don’t have a romantic relationship in the comics. Correct me if I’m wrong! I’ve just always thought it was a random relationship. It was still a cute wedding though. I liked seeing who all the guests were. Some guests surprised me. I thought it was really funny that Icicle Jr was at their wedding but  does that mean he knows their secret identities? I mean in M’gann and  Conner’s engagement video, they say that guests can come in costume or  as civilians because everyone there knows about all the hero stuff  (except for Marvin apparently). This implies that Icicle Jr knows who  they are. Maybe this is just a plot hole and I shouldn’t look into it so  much but it bothers me a little bit. Does he know who they are? Does he  know who all of them are? I doubt it but still. It’s the implication that bothers me. Someone needs to ask Greg.
Someone also please ask Greg how long they planned the school bus thing. I know that was earlier in the season but I can’t stop thinking about it. I noticed the school bus in season 3, episode 4, Private Security. Like I saw that the people on the bus were the same people on it from season 1, episode 5 Schooled. I didn’t think much of it at the time. I assumed they were just reusing character models because that’s a lot cheaper to animate than creating whole new character designs. I thought seeing the same people on the bus was just like a budget thing. But it actually ended up being relevant to the plot in ways that I would have never predicted. It came so far out of left field and I still can’t decide if it’s genius or kind of stupid. I really need to know how long Greg and the other writers planned that. Did they mean for the Magic School Bus to be a plot point all the way back in season 1? From more than 10 years ago?! I need to know when they decided to do that.
Another thing they did that I thought was really clever was having scenes during the credits. Now this isn’t the first show to ever do that but there aren’t many that use the credits as a way to add in just a little bit more content. Now some of the credit scenes were more important than others but still I thought it was a really good use of time where they could add in just a little bit that might not have fit in the runtime of the episode proper. I especially liked the credit scene when Superman talked about potential reserve members of the League. It was interesting to see who could show up as members in future seasons.
We still haven’t gotten any news on if there will be a season 5. I am a little worried that there’s been no news at all but I’m holding out hope. Ratings and fan demand have been very high and maybe they’re waiting to make an announcement at San Diego Comic Con. That would be a great place to announce a season 5 because there’s always a big attendance and large crowd and some media coverage so the announcement would reach a lot of people. Now Comic Con isn’t until July 21st so there’s more than a month away if they do make an announcement there which is frustrating but until then, the best way to show HBO and Warner Brothers that we want a season 5 is to continue binging the show and buying merch and the tie-in Targets comic. Remember, the whole reason Young Justice got canceled on Cartoon Network ten years ago was because of lack of toy sales. Even though the show has high viewership, it always comes down to money. So if you have the money to spare, consider buying merchandise and the comics. I will leave links down in the description box.
Young Justice just means so much to me. This show is what got me into DC Comics. I have loved it since day one. I remember watching the first episodes when they first aired back in November of 2010. It means so much to me and I would love to see it continue.
But we do have to face the reality that Phantoms very well could possibly be the last season of Young Justice. If that’s the case, are you satisfied with how the series ended? Of course I would love for there to be more but if this truly is the end, the last we will ever see on an animated Earth 16, I think I would be satisfied. The series began with the team rescuing Superboy from CADMUS and now it could end with the team rescuing Superboy from the Zods. It would make for a nice book-end to the series. What do you think?
With that being said, I do still really hope we get a season 5 and beyond, so HBOmax, Warner Bros get on board or get out of the way.

She’s exhausted— back to back shows always do that to her, and Zee wants nothing more than to peel off the fishnets and collapse into bed. Still, she finds herself sitting at the vanity in her dressing room well after curtain, slowly going through the motions of washing off her stage makeup. Zatanna love her fans, truly she does, but nights like these she just can’t bring herself to face much of anyone, too tired to paste on that smile she wears for even a second more than she has to. And so she avoids it. She can’t help but wonder what her dad would think if he heard— they love you, Zatanna, you should be grateful! What’s one more autograph? Hiding from your adoring fans? Shameful. The thought earns a chuckle, and for once she’s glad The Great Zatara isn’t around to scold her.
Her hands slowly pick the bobby pins from her hair, shaking loose dark curls that cascade around her face. Maybe she ought to cut it, it’s getting awfully long. Anyway, that’s where she pauses, staring at the ornate silver hairbrush like it’s going to lift itself. It wouldn’t be so surprising, all things considered, but Zee can’t bring herself to focus on a spell just now. And that’s how he finds her, sitting in a stalemate with an antique hairbrush, dissociating in front of the mirror.
How long she sat there before he came to find her, she can’t be sure, wide blue eyes meeting John’s in the reflection of the mirror when he slips into the room. Even as tired as she is, dazed as she feels, the corner of her lips twitch into a hint of a smile. It’s reflexive— he brings it out even when she can’t manage one for anyone else. No words pass between them, and for that she’s grateful. Brow creases for a moment when he picks up the brush, and for one horrified minute, Zee thinks he’s going to make her talk about it— make her tell him it had apparently been her mom’s, one of the few surviving pieces she held onto of a woman she’d never really known… but she visibly relaxes when he simply lifts it to her hair, running it through her curls with a surprising gentleness. She’ll tell him about it later, after she’s found her voice and feels herself again. For now she’s happy to just be, sinking down in her chair with a delighted little sigh, blue eyes drifting shut as he works the brush through her dark tresses.
