Honestly destiny being a loot-shoot live-service is my least favorite thing about it. There's so much pressure to have missions/dialogue be bite-sized and grindable that it eats away at the story telling. The monetization model is built on "how do we get people on our game everyday". And like, if I had deep good engaging story I'd be on it everyday, easily. But that doesn't sell.

Everything just feels shallow in terms of story-telling at times because of these constraints (having to play encore like 3x's to finish Echoes when nothing changes but the dialogue around it) and I wish we could have more moments like Final Dawn (when rhe Traveler almost left). I wish we could see more of the lore unfolding around us instead of reading it happening.

Destiny 2 is a story about love and hope and resilience in the face of adversity, fighting against fascism and all-consuming entropy by building community and locking hands w people you once called your enemies because you find out you were fighting the same thing all along. it's a beautiful story full of charming characters and this tolkienesque fantastic hopefulness set in a post-apocalyptic backdrop, an ostensibly sci-fi world written with fantasy tropes and conventions. however it is trapped inside of a game that, while i genuinely think it is a really good game, does not attract the sort of playerbase that would actually appreciate the story it's telling.

I high key headcanon that Strand can be used to actually see connections. Like when a Guardian tunes into it, they can see the threads that tie people together and they can pluck one out of thin air and feed their energy into it to make it more visible so they can trace that thread to most commonly a person but also objects that hold emotional significance.

Also the spidey-sense that comes from strand/arc leads to Guardians fighting while blindfolded to hone those abilities.

I'm reworking my OC and her lore. I want to change things about Morgana's later story but most of all, I want to pick her story back up and write it again. I've been busy writing fanfic with my favorite author and we both think it's long past time to tell our stories again!
