Better To Reign In Hell: Merritt Caine

A man of many words and few answers, nobody can say for certain just who Merritt is; his age, origins, and even his identity are shrouded in mystery. He cultivates this aura with glee, as he's found that it is both far more fun and far safer to keep people guessing, whether they be friend or foe.

At heart, he is a rover, drifting from town to town with the wind, the weather, or his own whim, taking whichever jobs and opportunities are offered to him: in the past he has been a bounty hunter, a paid mercenary, a healer, a street performer, a thief... When the conditions are less favourable and the towns he visists less welcoming, he has to rely solely on his quick wits, sleight of hand, and capricious luck.

Though he may come off as a man who is willing to do most anything as long as he gets paid, he actually possesses a very strong moral code, and will not harm anybody who, in his eyes, does not deserve to be harmed. He shows no such quarter to those who do deserve harm, however... Despite appearances, he is quite kindly and amicable, with a soft spot for children, and for animals; his dearest friends are a raven and his horse, Morningstar.

It is rumoured that he possesses some magick; though he has never confirmed nor denied this rumour, in his wake there are scattered tales of impossible feats and otherworldly occurrences, some that cannot be explained away by even the most hardened skeptic.

A fan shared a story on Tik Tok about her mom giving Zac one of her own designed colouring books. He was quite stoked and loved it. He left her her a sweet note complimenting her artwork and saying it was a great gift due to being in quarantine and what he needed.

Covert Operations Report

By Zachary Goode (hereafter referred to as “The Operative”)

At approximately 0200 hours the month of June Operative Goode heard a rumor about a leak in the CIA. Only it was just that: a rumor.

At approximately 2100 hours, Operative Goode left Roseville Virginia, alone and without a word. The operative thought it would be better this way.

At approximately 2300 hours, Operative Goode had been gone from the Blackthorne Institute for Troubled Boys for a month now. The operative had received no word from his fellow classmates or from his mother. The operative thought that was a good thing.

At approximately 0700 hours, Operative Goode had decided that the Subject was a Target and that the Subject was no longer safe. Not even at The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women.

At approximately 0745 hours, Operative Goode decided that the Subject needed the agents protection no matter how much the Subject claimed to be able to take care of things.

At precisely 0930 hours in the month of August, Operative Goode found himself in Washington DC at the McWinters Campaign Trail. And the Operative had a sick feeling in his stomach.

At approximately 1155 hours, Operative Goode disappeared from the McWinters Campaign Trail, determining that the Subject could handle herself.

At precisely 0430 hours, Operative Goode received word about the attack in Boston. Operative Goode began feeling extremely guilty. And angry.

At approximately 0432 hours, Operative Goode made it his personal mission to make sure The Subject was safe.

Dorian and Zachary have made a delightful new discovery. 

A ship of smoke sails a sea of heads in a Harbour bar. Dorian takes another drag of his cigar, pleased with himself, as Zachary marvels at the details. Next he puffs out a galloping horse with two men riding, and Zachary smiles. 

Later that evening, though, they’re across the bar, engaged in different conversations. 

Dorian catches Zachary’s eye and blows him a kiss. The cigar smoke escapes his lips as many hearts, which float over to Zachary. 

When the smoke dissipates in his face, he beams. It smells like Dorian.
