"Do you truly intend to follow me?" A nod. "Do you even understand the dangers out here?" "I can learn. From you." "Heh. Sure you can."
After Yusheng helps Jiangye run away from the palace, they have a hard time getting along.

Yusheng (鱼生) is a customary Lunar New Year dish, traditionally served on the 7th day of Chinese New Year, known locally in Singapore as Renri (人日). Renri means “every man’s birthday” with people becoming a year older on this day. In the past, yusheng was only eaten on renri, however these days it is normal for a family to eat yusheng numerous times throughout the New Year period and it is usually served at the start of every meal.

As the Chinese meaning of yusheng represents raw fish, salmon is the focal point of the dish and is served uncooked and cold alongside other ingredients. Arranged on a very large circular plate, an important feature of the dish, Yusheng (鱼生) is one of the most colourful cuisines of all Chinese New Year food. It is made up of shredded carrot, green and white shredded radish, pickled ginger, crushed peanuts, pomelo, cinnamon, pepper, golden pillow crackers and is accompanied by a variety of condiments.

The present Qi Cai Yu Sheng (七彩鱼生) or seven-coloured raw fish salad was developed by four master chefs from Singapore in the 1960s who were inspired by the Cantonese tradition of consuming raw fish strips during Chinese New Year. The chefs added new ingredients and entwined symbolic significance into the dish and presentation. Yusheng has become iconic in Singapore remaining unchanged for 5 decades, recently gaining popularity in Malaysia and other Chinese communities. For modern day convenience, many supermarkets have introduced ready-made yusheng kits to be brought home for consumption that strictly maintain the traditional ingredients.

Greeting once more, comrade......... I have come to offer my son to you to rate.... If you're still willing to, of course.
Basically, before he got sent to Twisted Wonderland, he was just a guy who did normal people things, though he had an illusion placed upon him by his great-great grandfather, so he'd look like a normal human, but when he was chosen by the Dark Coach or whatever, since he wasn't present in the same world as the previously mentioned great-great grandfather, the illusion was broken, and yeah, dragon.
To give a little more context on his story prior to NRC, he lived with his great-great grandfather, who was a pretty well-respected dragon in the small group of dragons existing at the time. Yusheng looked up to him, and pretty much hated whenever he got into trouble, since he didn't want to disappoint the guy. But his interests didn't seem to please his great-great grandfather, so he usually kept quiet near him and tried to act like the ideal grandson to him (which to the old man was being all brutish and strong), but clearly Yusheng is quite the opposite of that, so whenever he was training with his great-great grandfather, it always ended up with him getting berated.
One day, after one of these training sessions, Yusheng went out to clear his head, since being in the same room with his old man for any longer would literally destroy him due to the tension, so he went out for a walk. Well apparently, the universe had other ideas, because woo-hoo! Dark Coach.
So, he got picked, sent to Night Raven College, tried to leave immediately after, and after a few conversations, ended up in Ramshackle with a certain fire-breathing creature, who considered him a henchman (henchdragon??) now. Eventually, he met some other students, formed bonds, and yeah. The end!!!!!!!!
hai hai! Wavewave<3 I shall lock in just for you, comrade, DW ABOUT A THING I GOT YOU
man, I love dragons
-said the weird masked hooded guy with a weird purple dragon’s tail, on the lad’s hand, that seemed to be attach to another being…??? (Lore drop while yapping….imagine-)
ANYWAYS, HEHEHE-
I feel like he’s the type to be the chill type unless provoked. Like he be chilling, drinking water or something he likes to drink, then when he sees a very closed one being bullied, THAT’S WHEN HE STEPS UP LIKE THE AUDACITY, HELLO?!
but let’s be fr, he may be like aloof but he cares- LIKE IT’S OK POOKIE ILYT EVEN IF YOU DON’T SAY IT :3c
Character design: 10/10 Facts: 9.5/10 Backstory: 10/10 um: 10000000/10 (no hate ofc!)

Tomb of An Bei 589 CE. Sogdian tomb.
I couldn't find the translation for the epitaph for this one.
"Differently from the other tombs quoted in this paper, Anbei’s tomb was not excavated by archaeologists, but found and looted by the robbers, therefore the archaeological context of this tomb, even the date of this accidental finding are lost. Until now, all we know is that this tomb robbery happened someday between 2006 and 2007. Several stone figurines, a funerary couch and Anbei’s epitaph stone were found in the tomb. Two stone figurines, parts of the base of the couch and the epitaph are now exhibited in the Tang West Market Museum in Xi’an (Fig.20), four panels belonging to the private owners, including two processing and two banqueting scenes, were published, too (Fig.21).
Although owning the typical Sogdian name An, which means his ancestors migrated into China from Bukhara, his homeland was described in a completely different name, the state of Anjuyeni, which was never recorded by any source before. An’s family moved to China during the Northern Wei dynasty, some of his family members once served in the Bureau of Tributaries. For the court, it’s also an usual way to adopt expatriate immigrants to work in the diplomatic system. Anbei’s father, An Zhishi, served as a middle-rank commanding officer among the honour guards of the court.
As a, likely, third generation immigrant, Anbei’s life depicted in the epitaph was very brief, too. Except for the usual eulogies commonly written in every epitaph, two main parts of his experience were emphasized: his mercantile ability and simple bureaucratic career. The one who wrote the text made a metaphor, assimilating Anbei with two famous ancient Chinese merchants, Baigui and Xiangao during the Eastern Zhou Period (approximately between 8th c. - 3rd c. BC); After that, Anbei’s only short official career as a very lower status clerk of the military headquarters of vassal leader Xuchang was recorded, probably happened in 575 AD when he was 20 years old. Soonafter the Northern Qi was replaced by Northern Zhou dynasty in 577 AD, Anbei returned home in Luoyang, the place where he died and was buried in 589 AD at the age of 34.
The motivation for me to list this robbed tomb here, together with the other tombs which have detailed background obtained through scientific archaeological excavation is, however, mainly not for its elaborate funerary couch, but because of his distinctive identity depicted in the epitaph. Prior to the discovery of Anbei’s tomb, the deceased of all five tombs which constituted the most important foundation of the studies of the foreign immigrants in early medieval China, namely the tombs of Lidan, Kangye, Anjia, Shijun and Yuhong, owned high-ranked official positions such as head of a prefecture or Sabao, which may result in a misconception that only aristocrats of the foreign immigrants could be buried with such elaborate funerary furniture. However, Anbei’s tomb provided an additional possibility about the status of the tomb occupant who used the stone funerary furniture. What is expressly shown in the epitaph, during his 34-year-long life, Anbei was just a very ordinary person, without any notable ancestry from homeland, neither held any high-ranked post, nor received anyone as a posthumous reward.
Except for the basic information above, there is also a remarkable narration during the introduction in the beginning of Anbei’s epitaph, which may reflect the collective mindset among most of the foreign immigrants in China and their efforts in social integration, Although he is a foreigner, after a long life in China, there is no difference between him and the Chinese’.
-Yusheng Li, Study of tombs of Hu people in late 6th century northern China

"Haa... Another day in this unpredictable world. I wonder what the universe has in store for me today... Oh well, I should go wake Grim up."
Yusheng Ji; dubbed "Yuu" by Ace, a dragon boy hailing from a world far from Twisted Wonderland. He seems lowkey timid at first, but he opens up fairly quickly. He resides within the Ramshackle dorm as a prefect over Grim, though on occasion, he'll be in a different dorm.
He tends to shy away from certain folks, since he finds their antics a bit too shocking for his weak soul, or their voices too loud. (cough.. cough.. Octatrio... cough.. Sebek)

BROKEN MIRROR
This is a piece of lore I wrote about 2 months ago for wisp that I’ve never posted cause it’s like 1,000 words but I now don’t care and will be sharing it.
The mirror in Ramshackle had never felt as tall as it did now.
————————————————————————
Wisp stood in front of it, the dorm room dark behind him, the only light hitting the mirror and himself had been the sliver of moonlight peeking in from the curtains tear, it crawled across the floor as if it were alive, wrapping around his bare feet and casting jagged shadows up his legs. His breath was quiet, measured, the kind of quiet that stretches not from peace, but restraint.
His fingers trembled
It had been less than a week since his memories came back.
Not just images. Not flashes. But everything. The weight, the warmth, the death, the waiting. Skully’s laugh. The scent of dusk at Diasomnia. The crushing dread that came with the realization that time hadn't been kind, just forgetful.
Wisp hadn’t looked in a mirror since.
Although he’d catch glimpses of himself. Reflections in windows, the smooth shimmer of a potion vial, and puddles of rainwater on the stone paths on his way to class. But those had been tricks of light, fleeting phantoms. They had been easy to ignore.
Now standing in front of it, there was no trick of the light. There was only truth, truth that he couldn't blame on the moonlight.
He couldn’t look at himself, but he could bear to keep his eyes away from the mirror. So he raised his eyes to the mirror, slow as if the image standing in front of him might burn him.
White hair. Pale skin. Piercings glinting like tiny stars scattered through the dark mess of his bangs. His ears weren’t visible, but he could feel them. The beastman part of him hadn’t vanished- it had just… folded in, hiding like a hibernating bear.
He looked haunted. He looked wrong.
This wasn’t Yusheng.
Yu had been warm. He had tan skin and laughter lines at the corners of his blood-red eyes. He had scars and patches of skin that seemed to be sewn together. His voice wasn’t quiet; it had been loud, commanding, and his laugh would echo across the halls of Diasomnia, especially when his laugh was due to someone who matched his humor. His ears and tail were as visible as the difference between summer and winter, tail twitching when he was excited, as ears would perk up when someone would praise him or call his name.
But this?
This thing in the mirror?
That thing wasn’t him, it was a spector. A caricature of who he’d been. No beast ears in sight. No tail. No proud vice-housewarden uniform, no sleepless nights next to the housewarden. No flame of defiance, no heartbeat that echoed when he would run across the training field, when he ran along the track.
Wisp stared.
The reflection tilted its head.
His stomach twisted.
“Who the hell are you?” He whispered.
The glass didn’t answer.
He leaned in closer, chest almost brushing the surface. His eyes scanned his own face, now a sickly place, once-rounded features grown sharp with time and hunger. He looked like a boy who had died, and maybe in a way, he had.
Wisp. A name he had chosen because he couldn't remember his. Because the world had forgotten “Yusheng” and spat him out like a failed spell. “Wisp” sounded weightless, like something passed through the world going forever unnoticed. A thing not meant to stay.
But the memories were back, and with them came the unbearable burden of contradiction.
“I’m Yusheng,” he said, firmer. A command, a plea.
The mirror flickered.
He blinked.
For a heartbeat, he saw himself as he had been - blood-red eyed, smiling that crooked, beautiful smile, the one that said I know you, even when you don’t.
But the image twisted. The colors drained. The beast ears faded, the tail shrank away. The person in front of him turned to ash.
So once again, Wisp stood alone.
He grabbed the edges of the mirror and pressed his forehead to the glass.
Tears began sliding down his cheeks.
It was all wrong.
He didn’t fit this time. He didn’t belong in his old one either. Everyone whom he had once loved was either gone or had forgotten him. The world kept spinning like he hadn’t once held a piece of it in his hands.
Even the Great Seven, with all their legacy, would never remember his name.
He pounded a fist into the mirror.
It didn’t crack.
He almost wished it had.
His reflection stared back at him, unflinching.
“You should have stayed dead,” he muttered to it. “That would’ve been easier.”
But some cruel god hadn’t let him. Had torn him from his past and dropped him into this world like litter, a world just like his own, his world, but it wasn’t his anymore. And now he was forced to wear this body- a shell of time and grief- and pretend it was his.
He slid down the floor, knees pulled to his chest, arms wrapping around them. He was shaking. Not cold, just fractured.
He couldn’t even bring himself to shift- his tail refused to form, his ears wouldn’t budge. It was like his beast half had sealed itself away, too ashamed to face what they’d become.
Silence settled again.
A deep, awful kind.
And then, the faintest whisper.
“...Skully. I don’t know who I am anymore.”
The air didn’t answer, but the silence shifted. A memory surfaced, Skully sitting beside him on the roof of Diasomnia, legs swinging off the edge, as wind caught in his hair.
“Even if the world forgets us,” Skully had said, “we don’t forget each other. That’s enough, right?”
It had been enough
Now?
Wisp didn’t know.
But he stayed on the floor until the moon had disappeared, and the first sunlight crept through the window, replacing the once-gleaming moonlight. The sun cast gold across the broken boy in the mirror.
And for a moment- before he wiped his face clean- he let himself be both.
Yusheng.
And Wisp.
Even if he hated what that meant.
