In 2017, the russians sent Yulia Samoilova to the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, knowing full well that she would not be allowed to enter Ukraine because she illegally visited the occupied Crimea. Then russia shouted to the whole world that people with disabilities are not respected in Ukraine. At that time, russia occupied 7% of the territory of Ukraine and killed thousands of Ukrainians.
In 2023, Anna Smirnova demanded the disqualification of the Ukrainian athlete for 50 minutes because she did not want to shake hands. Unfortunately, Smirnova got her way. At that time, russia occupied almost a quarter of our territory and killed tens of thousands of Ukrainians.
The more evil russia does, the louder russians present themselves as victims.
The only question is, why does the world believe them all the time?

Karl Bryullov (Russian, 1799-1852) The Last Day of Pompeii, 1830-33 The Mikhailovsky Palace The subject of the canvas is the destruction of the ancient Roman town of Pompeii during an eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Among the characters in the painting, Brullov depicts himself (the artist on the steps of the temple) and Countess Yulia Samoilova (the mother embracing her daughter). Brullov’s historical sources were the letters written by the ancient Roman historian Pliny the Younger, a witness of the catastrophe, to Tacitus, and a study of the ruins of Pompeii, where archaeological excavations had begun in the middle of the eighteenth century. The scene of the action is the Strada dei Sepolcri (Road of Tombs), the Pompeii necropolis and a kilometre perspective from the Gates of Hercules to the Villa Diomedes in the direction of the Villa of Mysteries. The Last Day of Pompeii was exhibited at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan in 1833. It was then sent to the annual Paris Salon, which had opened in the Louvre in March 1834, winning Brullov a first gold medal. The painting was shown at the Imperial Hermitage in St Petersburg in 1834 and at a special exhibition organized by the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1835.

Portrait of Countess Yulia Samoilova Retiring from a Ball with her Adopted Daughter Amazilia Pacini. Unfinished (c.1839-1840). Karl Pavlovich Bryullov (Russian, 1799-1852). Oil on canvas. State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg.
Countess Yulia Pavlovna Samoilova: Last of the Skawronski family. Married the aide-de-camp Count Nikolai Samoilov, the Italian singer Peri and then the French diplomat Count de Morné. After divorcing the latter, she returned to the surname of her first husband. Karl Brullov made the acquaintance of Countess Yulia Samoilova in Italy in the 1820s. They became very close friends and at one point even talked of marrying. Countess Samoilova did not have any children of her own. She raised two Italian girls, Amazilia and Giovanina Pacini, daughters of the composer Giovanni Pacini.

@rukopisi-ne-goryat  replied to your post “snovyda: zombutt: Eurovision 2k17; I don’t think I’ve seen so many...”
she literally went to Sevastopol today for victory day like yeah way to be fucking obvious that this isn't about Eurovision but about the war
She did?? Welp okay. I didn’t know that and din’t care tbh.
But yes, this demonstrates well her own political stance (didn’t she call us fascists on her facebook or smth?), and Russian politics :/

Thoughts about Russia
I'm not the biggest fan of Russian entries, I liked Dima Bilan (both entries) and Dina Garipova, and this year's song isn't also my cup of tea. But I admire Yulia's courage. I've read that it was her who approached to Channel One with her song when they were on the edge of announce Russia's withdrawal from the contest. I admire the fact she worked her own way into get her dream become true and the fact that she's disabled makes it even more worthy of praise. I don't think that Channel One was so dumb or desperate for not to think about the consequences of send Yulia to Kyiv, both their public image in front of the large Anti-Russian settlement on the fandom and things like security or logistics. Or so ruin to decide to use her dream for polish their international reputation (or dirty Ukraine's in a worst case scenario). She's living her dream and we should leave her enjoy it whatever we think about her song or her country.

With Channel One refusing to show the Contest on TV this year, the EBU confirm that this rules breach means that Russia will not be able to take part in the Song Contest. We’re down to 42 countries...
